the wattage rating is almost irrelevant in my opinion. the cables itself just needs to support USB2.0 specs and have decent enough copper quality and shielding

The cable need to have a low resistance. Like coiled cables with the additional joints are known to cause issues. The cable length matters too because the wire resistance is proportional to it. Due to these two things using the front USB can cause problems too because of the cable which connected the case to the mainboard header.

It's also not that easy to measure the cable resistance, this needs to be done under load. The greater the resistance the bigger the possible voltage drop and that is limited by the specification. So it doesn't matter how long the cable actually is as long as the spec is still met. But practically due to common materials the length is limited. Like which normal person can use a superconductor as wires. 😄
