It's a piece of brass that was cut down to fit into the cavity to use as a weight

yeah. it definitely made it sound less hollow compared to when i had 2 layers of zip-n-fit in the battery cut out. i don't have a before sound test, but it did make a noticeable difference for me at least

i used an angle grinder with a metal cut off wheel which took maybe 15 min max and then i used a metal file to shave down the edges and corners to fit (filing took forever)

It does sound creamy! Its got a bit of clack too, and from all the sound tests everyone's been sharing, this seems to be as farthest away you can get from the Woot spring ping sound
