#Messy Setup - But Here are the Take Control Keycaps!

nice!
For anyone wondering, these keycaps feel amazing to the touch and were built amazingly well! The only thing that is different from the typical US keyboard layout is that the '7' keycap's alternative character is a Euro instead of an ampersand. But who the heck cares! They look sweet!
Thanks!

looks sick
im wondering why you wireless receiver is on the table
that defeats the point of wireless
so the benefit of wireless is still 0 at that point
also it say in noisy environments its vest to keep it at 20cm
aka when you have a router in your room, live in a radio tower or smth like that
whilst im against wireless anyway, having 0 drag from a cable is nice and thats the whole point, the closer the receiver the faster the transmit speed, some people keep it on the edge of the pad
you actually increase the transmit latency by moving it closer
the data transmitted isnt huge so the speed itself isnt all to critical. the latency added by the signal traveling mostly through wire though.
also though there was wire rigs for low drag
you dont, and this comes from fiend who is rnd at razer, you have a 1ms window for a poll to be decoded making it even smaller for transmit, that gets even smaller with higher polling rates, the wire is the least of your issues in wireless
gpx superlight is a good example of transmit windows being too small for how slow their signalling is, if you check it in most scenarios where you have some noise, it'll miss the first window and count as a 500hz poll or worse
anyway, this isnt a topic we should be discussing here
damn thats ass
Nice caps! Would you be able to show us a photo with RGB on? Cause I understand these caps aren't back-lit in anyway.
@random galleon can you show a vid with RGB on?
@echo vault @regal vapor Sure thing, friends! I'll post a video later today once I get home and have some free time. I'm in the US and so that won't be for around 8-9 more hours, haha.
But @echo vault , there isn't much visible light that shines through the keycaps. But if you use certain lighter backlight colors, the light shines up and makes the legend on the front of each keycaps semi-readable.
And yeah, for the folks commenting on my wireless adapter being so close to the mouse - I thought it would decrease the latency as I kinda prefer the lower-latency feel of wired mice. Maybe that's just a placebo effect though, haha. But anyway, I leave the cable close because sometimes I just disconnect the wireless dongle and plug the wire directly into my mouse.
With lighter & smaller mice, you don't even notice any cable drag since it's so dang light. But maybe that's just me because I went from a Logitech G502 at around 120g to my Pulsar Bruce Lee X2 Mini which weighs around 55g lol
And I'll be going back to the wired experience next month....because my M2K that I had ordered almost a year ago will finally be delivered lol
At which point, my huge mousepad will be even more overkill than it already is since I have recently started using 1600DPI.
Basically, I used low sensitivity and 400DPI for too long and started getting wrist pain... But adjusting to 1600DPI took a while - but has definitely prevented any further wrist pain lol.
Thank you brother. Really appreciate it and thanks for the first hand review of the caps and the back-light.
how do the keycaps feel compared to the stock ones? is it worth?
Here's that video of me panning over the brightness settings with the backlight on. It was shot in complete darkness and thus isn't really a great representation of what you would presumably see in your setting...
Edit - Can't post the video... It's always too big unless it's only around 3 seconds long lol. I'll post it tomorrow!
Hey! I posted a lengthy reply to you yesterday but my phone must've been all glitchy as that response isn't here today! Wtf?
Edit - Responded in my comment below this one 😄
But essentially, they feel great. I have numerous sets of alternative keycaps in my collection, however, the original 60HE keycaps have had this nice, slightly gritty feeling to them that I absolutely love. And from that texture that they have, they quickly became my favorite keycaps of all time.
So, while these Take Control keycaps don't really have the same grittier feel to them, they do happen to have their own unique texture. And also, they definitely take the cake when it comes to overall visual aesthetics. So, I will be leaving these keycaps on my keyboard for quite a while.
Overall, do I prefer the texture/feel of these caps over the original 60HE caps? In my humble opinion, no. But as for the looks, I greatly prefer these Take Control keycaps over the original 60HE keycaps.
Ultimately, it all depends on what you are looking for with your keycaps. If I wanted a more color-matching or visually appealing setup (which I currently do), then these caps are the way to go. But, if I wanted a more quiet/less noticeable setup, then I would use the original 60HE caps (or maybe a set of my other keycaps).
Here are those condensed videos with the backlight enabled. Again, these videos were taken in a completely dark setting... So, it's not really a great representation of what you would see in your personal setup... My apologies there...
I normally use the AOE feature with the backlights off until a key is pressed. And then, I use a very low brightness setting for the illuminating areas as the brighter colors mess with my head and disturb my focus when I'm playing an FPS game.
wow thanks for the very in depth review, ill definitely be buying those along with the carrying case soon
great review. completely agree with the OG keycaps feeling better but the take control ones look so nice
they somehow feel a bit more wobbly or something, i dont quite understand why
That's interesting. I figured mine would be wobbly since I had already put around 4-5 different sets of keycaps on my 60HE. But they all seem to stay-put on my device. I guess the undersides of the keycaps that I had took the beating instead of that top section of the switch (where the keycaps attach).
I would remove the caps that feel wobbly and check the little âž• layout to make sure that it is fully in-tact. With one of the cheaper sets of keycaps that I had gotten in the past, 1-2 of the caps were missing a section of plastic underneath that caused those particular keycaps to sit unevenly and to wobble around quite a bit. Thankfully enough - with those keycaps - it was only the '+' and '-' key that had the issue.
i think its the lower profile or maybe theyre a bit thinner? they feel more hollow and therefore the wobble comes through a bit more i think
Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, it's weird to adjust to two totally different keycap profiles. I was switching from a cherry layout to these - so I didn't notice much of a difference.
In the end, the lower the profile (especially with sensitive switches), the more beneficial it is for gaming, haha. But, of course, that's just my opinion.
But also, AYYYY! I just saw your post! We have the same setup!
