Solution for severe mouse lag in games when using Wooting keyboards and Mumble is running

TL;DR Are you getting severe mouse input lag in games with wooting keyboard? Mumble default settings are incompatible. In Mumble go to settings --> shortcuts and untick "Enable Xinput".

I had this issue of very severe mouse input lag ingame after hitting a button on my wooting two keyboard sporadically since last year and I've posted here about it a few times. I had suspected my x370 amd platform of being potato for usb, but that was mistaken. I was alleviating the symptoms by running 125Hz usb update frequency for my mouse, which worked as a bandaid.

Today I figured out a root cause and a solution, so I'm reporting back with it: it's a Mumble default setting incompatibility. In Mumble go to settings --> shortcuts and untick "Enable Xinput". Doing this appears to work as a root cause solution for the input lag I was experiencing. Attached is the image of my Mumble shortcut settings.

Oh, interesting. I wonder if something with Mumble's xinput handling was causing it to do a ton of processing on the message handling thread whenever the keyboard would send new reports.
I assume you weren't using any gamepad mappings on your profile?

I would also suspect that if you were to disable the gamepad on the keyboard it'd probably achieve the same workaround as it won't be doing anything with Xinput in that case

It would be nice if the app name would be added to the thread title. Without that info this post don't really help others because the issue is specific to that tool.

I don't know how well input handling works if multiple processes are reading controller inputs in general. Normally only a game would read the data. It can be that the tool has a high CPU priority to handle the sound transmission in time. Possible that the input handler has problems when digital and controller inputs are send together and so causing high CPU demand every now and then.

So the problem should also occur with a real controller under the same circumstances.

Maybe it would be good to know if the problem also occur when the digital keys are disabled for the used analog profile.

I was using this profile, I usually only use analog profiles in special cases like some mech games that really benefit, xbox controller setting is usually enabled and it was in this case as well. my main use case for this keyboard specifically is its insane maintainability without soldering

so digital profile with tachyon mode enabled

this is a sporadic issue, so it doesn't 100% happen just by switching on xinput shortcut method in mumble and running deep rock galactic for example, but when it happens it's systematic. which is why I could notice that toggling xinput in mumble settings took the issue away: before that I had gone multiple times ingame while talking with my buddy and the issue was present every game startup while troubleshooting for like 10 minutes, but I flip the switch and boom gone

to be specific, keyboard worked fine and I could talk on mumble fine with the keyboard shortcut left alt, it was just the mouselook movement getting funky, like the slower the more you move it and input delay accumulating after first key press to move ingame. before the first keypress mouse worked fine

only xinput conflicts I've come across so far are the rpgmaker incompatibility and this mumble one

I still don't really get if the problem also happens on the digital profile. As long as no analog profile is selected the Wooting should not send any inputs over the controller interface. So my assumption would be it's fine as long as you don't switch to an analog profile. Then the question is if it stops when the profile is switched to the digital again.

Have you checked the CPU utilization? How did that lock? A screenshot would may help.
