Cheap ear plugs can dampen ~30dB. Although its just foam and made to protect hearing.
My overear headset blocks quite a lot passively, probably around 10 to 15dB. It might be able to have active noise cancellation but never looked into that.

well the difference is tiny, 16gb sticks are harder to manage, so I would assume the secondaries/tertiaries are causing it vs 4x8

there is only dual rank or quad rank, you already have with high likelihood dual rank
4x16 is quad rank and would probably cost you performance as per the reviews

Also, with the launch of RX 6800/XT around the corner (in less than 15 hours) is there info on how they stack up against NVIDIA? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to AMD's offerings? AMD's favor seems to be in Linux drivers (they're open source and even part of the Linux kernel, plus they support Wayland, whereas NV still only offers proprietary drivers that don't support Wayland) but NV has a better encoder for video, which may be good for frequent recording or streaming. Thoughts?
