PSVita is moslty homebrew

#

Same with Nintendo

#

But PS4 is very much piracy

#

90% of it 5.05 or lower

#

i mean its the reason i did it

#

not even going to deny that

empty wren
#

I assume that just runs right

#

Without hardware modifications

pale sigil
#

You basically run these files in a pkg installer

#

The current exploits are web exploits

#

So you have to run a web exploit every time you boot

empty wren
#

:S then I am not surprised

#

Microsoft with the Xbox one did not let anyone touch jack squat

pale sigil
#

There was actually a hardware exploit kinda

#

Someone found out how to exploit the HDMI chip I think to allow you to run instructions

#

Which meant huge potential

#

But nothing came or it

#

Ye the Xbox one is insanely locked down

empty wren
#

And they tore down the sweet Modio program

#

But I guess in the name of security

#

Someone found out how to exploit the HDMI chip I think to allow you to run instructions
That sounds like it would not go far

pale sigil
empty wren
#

And they tore down the sweet Modio program
Used to be a haven where you could gather saves from

pale sigil
#

That’s the in depth post

empty wren
#

Nice post

#

O_O some of the code replaced the kernel code I did not think it would go that far

#

Hopefully the new interface is not the only software Sony is working on

ashen spindle
#

today in "people who beg for clicks and have no idea what they are talking about"

frozen anchor
#

that title looks like something generated from an ai trying to seem human

ashen spindle
#

honestly I really really really just want zen3/rocket lake/rdn2/ampere stats right now just to finally have less spam on youtube with idiots citing "sources" and people believing it

frozen anchor
#

citing their assumptions and speculations lol

wheat plume
#

I want a real nixie tube clock tho, they are gorgeous

#

that soft orange glow :D

reef tundra
#

There is someone in chezh republic is making geniune old style nixietubes

#

Expensive stuff but justified by being low volume and all handwork

ivory geyser
#

@reef tundra Czech republic* :P

reef tundra
#

Just rename it back to Bohemia. Remove bloat begin with random strings

ivory geyser
#

Well our politician DID official rename it to Czechia.

#

In some parts of international space.

#

#

Just the world hasnt caught up to it yet

vagrant marsh
#

well, im gonna get me some new memory. appearently the memory i bought (g.skill cl16 3600) isnt stable at 3600. either the memory, or my system cant handle 3600. i have to downclock it to 3200 to make it work properly. so im asking the webshop if i can return this memory under warranty and buy meself cl14 3200 memory, which performs just as well.

zenith sonnet
#

99%, if it's 3600 C16 it'll run 3200 C14

#

Often they are the same kits, just programmed differently

#

Anyway, what system does your memory not run 3600 C16 on?

ashen spindle
#

sure but being debt collecting from console gamers doesnt seem like the best marketing idea lmao

#

esp in the current situation

frozen anchor
#

you can finance just about anything

#

even if microsoft doesnt offer it officially some retailer will

ashen spindle
#

sure but that will be low ammount and not the majority deal

vagrant marsh
#

@zenith sonnet gigabyte aorus x570 pro

ashen spindle
#

and sony could just do the same so it's not like a way to beat competition

#

MS are quite good at making sure they lose the console war even if they have the more powerful hardware

zenith sonnet
#

@vagrant marsh I have my G.Skill 3600 C16 kit running 3666 C14 on my X570 Aorus Master
What voltage are you running?

frozen anchor
#

with amazon you can finance even cheap stuff

ivory geyser
#

@prisma crag because the OTHER console costs half and has cooler games

frozen anchor
#

some $100 or so products can be financed

vagrant marsh
#

1.35. ive simplky put it on the xmp profile

ivory geyser
#

Also, console is an entertainment product, not a status symbol.

#

And cant be used as such

frozen anchor
#

till apple console is a thing

ivory geyser
#

Yep

zenith sonnet
#

@vagrant marsh And what errors are you getting?

ivory geyser
#

Till then

vagrant marsh
#

every 2 days, computer goes on a startup loop and then the bios resets after it tries to start up 4x, also, my soundcard crashes after a few hours of use

#

if i put the memory on 3200, i aint got any of those problems

zenith sonnet
#

I see
You can try running the timings from the 1usmus DRAM calc instead of the XMP profile
Also you can give it a little more voltage
What's the exact part number?

vagrant marsh
#

G.Skill Trident Z Neo F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC

zenith sonnet
#

Micron, then
Dunno the exact specs of the DRAM chips

vagrant marsh
#

weird thing is, the first week i got this computer i didnt had any of these problems. then i used ryzen master for auto overclock of cpu. didnt let it touch the memory. but pc started acting weird. so i uninstalled it. computer kept behaving freaky. so i did a windows reset. problems seemed to be solved. but memory keeps having issue. might be that ryzen master damaged the memory, but i aint sure.

zenith sonnet
#

Have you done a BIOS reset?

#

Are you on an up-to-date version?

reef tundra
#

Even drugdealers allow you to finance, just dont miss the payments. They get anti-kneecaps after a while.

#

also for memory try to change the slots

#

could be that it is incompatable due to clockspeed difference on the channel

#

thus could help to put them on two differend channels

#

if mobo supports it

#

else sadness

#

also clockrate memory seems to be as fast as lower clockrates as it affects the latency

#

but that was test from 5 years ago

#

so could have changed since them

#

not a sdram expert just a embedded engineer overengineering his code

vagrant marsh
#

@zenith sonnet the bios resets itself whenever it goes through a reset loop πŸ˜› and its up to date as well. latest version. in between you see versions that adds memory compatibility. doesnt seem to work for this oen

zenith sonnet
#

Stupid question, got them in the right slots?
Try reseating it, to make sure contact is good
What are the DRAM temps like?
Try running it at a slightly higher voltage

reef tundra
#

overclock to 24 volts for plc compatability. However will release the magic smoke

vagrant marsh
#

would the computer even run if they were in the wrong slots?

frozen anchor
#

it should but just not optimally

vagrant marsh
#

they are in 2 and 4

#

thats the normal right

frozen anchor
#

could also only detect one stick if its wrong

#

maybe

#

depends

#

look at the manual

ashen spindle
#

yes 570 basically all use the same topology

zenith sonnet
#

It's 2 and 4 for my board

#

I would assume that's correct

#

You can also try 1+3

#

But that usually costs you a couple MHz

#

So...

frozen anchor
wheat plume
#

.... Woah

frozen anchor
#

$300 though...

wheat plume
#

Yeah
I'm not surprised

#

Now your keyboard is also a deadly weapon

#

reef tundra

Authoritarians be like: its for the safety
Nazi's be like: its for the safety

#

Clear difference

#

But then we should be able to decrypt the governments files

#

cus maybe they have terrorists

#

or any other us company

#

so china can get inspired

#

gg well played

#

But what if the illegal terrorists will use a special protocol under eachother so is unreadable for anyone else

#

oh wait that is called tor

#

and the nsa has called it a national threat dueto the hard to tap and listen to part

#

Also when the temporary patriot act going to expire? did not know that 4 years are that long

frozen anchor
#

Even if this passes criminals will still do illegal things to keep their activities secret lol

#

It literally fixes nothing

reef tundra
#

The successfull criminals never get caught

#

Also every terror act was known and on the list before hand. so why need to extend the surveilance

#

Also some parts in the patriot act (and its addementments(extentions)) are really dystopian

frozen anchor

Yep

reef tundra

indefine detention of immigrants

Blue style switches are definitely loud.

old marlin

@frozen anchor link to that marble case?

#

ah wait

#

found the geekhack page

#

is delayed atm

short cove
#

Maybe I'll stick to getting red

#

Oh and yeah my bro keeps talking how the razer huntsman TE has the fastest switches is that actually true?

reef patrol
#

The idea of having the fastest switch at this point is pointless to discuss and care about

#

We're down to such small response times, that you're just not going to be able to notice.

short cove
#

True yeah

fair gull

@frozen anchor 300$ not even a wooting pcb inside

wheat plume

#

You guys better do something I've known about this happening and there's nothing I can do about it

reef tundra
#

Remember kiddos backdoors cant garentuee authenicity that only the government is using it. Plus China really likes to hack(mostly probing every ip), anything. And something like a backdoor would be a premium commodaty on the blackmarkt. Just some interresting things to keep in mind about this.

frozen anchor
#

@short cove usually the 'speed' is just how high the actuation is so... technically the apex pro has the fastest switches by far but lekker will be slightly faster than that even and if we consider rapid trigger and such...

frozen anchor
#

usb that stops hackers from getting your data πŸ€”

reef patrol
#

It's not a scam.

#

It blocks data transfers during charging.

fair gull
#

its for outlets in coffee shops and stuff for new products that can usb charge

#

like macbooks etc

reef patrol
#

And phones.

#

Tablets.

fair gull
#

and that

#

usually cables that come with these devices are fully fledged data cables

#

so plugging them into random shit could transfer data

#

all ud need is a small pcb that only connects power to get a similar effect

reef patrol
#

Just ask anyone who has ever been to a hacker Con xD

#

Don't log onto anyone's wifi - even if it looks like the Hotel wifi. Don't use anyone's cables, because there can be computers in them xD

frozen anchor
#

couldnt you just fix this software side and not allow data transfer while charging

reef patrol
#

Software can be hacked.

fair gull
#

^

#

and software can have bugs

reef patrol
#

If there is no physical way to get to your data - There's no risk.

fair gull
#

i mean the switch tried to protect its firmware with software

#

so did the 3ds

#

and we all know how good that was

reef patrol
#

FBI and friends are only able to break into locked iPhones and such by buying really expensive black boxes that attack plugged in phones using exploits and vulnerabilities.

fair gull
#

if u scratch away the traces inside tho

#

no one can get in

#

easy fix

frozen anchor
#

ok now ill be scared to charge my phone/laptop in a public outlet pepesweat

wheat plume
#

Yeah...never ever do that

reef tundra
#

All software is unsecure. Even hello world can be cracked

#

all you really do is make the effort and time needed way longer

#

Real hackermen hack hackers by exploiting their exploit

wheat plume
#

you can handwrite numbers and URLs and itll automatically take you to them

#

when you tap it

reef tundra
#

image to text is one facanating thing from the 1990's yes. actively sweats in pure panic

wheat plume
#

I know android does this too but can it follow the links without them coverting to text first?

reef tundra
#

Are you admitting to witch craft mr @wheat plume ? For that the punishment of no EMACs for you!!!!

#

or was it drowning in lekker switches?

wheat plume
#

πŸ€”

reef tundra
#

anyways it aint that hard. list all the text and select what link the user wants to goto

#

but modern ai might be a little more effective then the old ways XD

wheat plume
#

xd

reef tundra
#

also do it in python and never compile it. Performance is no anyways

#

big brain AI

icy sigil
#

just ordered this bad boy

#

i already have 2 implants, so excited to add more

#

@reef patrol i know youre interested in this

ivory geyser
#

Why exactly would you want this?...

frozen anchor
#

its your first step to becoming a cyborg

reef tundra
#

A magnet would be cool to have

icy sigil
#

im getting a magnet soon lol

ivory geyser
frozen anchor
#

πŸ‘€

reef tundra
#

takes some time to ajust and if not fully biocompatable wont be threre forever

#

But you can feel the earth magnetic fielld

icy sigil
#

ehhhhh

reef tundra
#

or microwaves (machines) (not the wavey bois)

icy sigil
#

^

#

usually you need a stong magnetic source to feel it ie a live wire

reef tundra
#

Or pick up small screws with one finger

icy sigil
#

yup,

frozen anchor
#

id only get some electronics implanted if it meant i could do this

icy sigil
#

but usually you dont want to be doing any lifting with a sensing magnet

#

they have specific lifting magnets you can use for small screw storage on your hand XD

reef tundra
#

But it hard to source the magnet and hard to get installed by someone with the knowledge, equipment and sterile room

icy sigil
#

nope, prett easy

ivory geyser
#

Kuuube has the right idea

icy sigil
reef tundra
#

Some local drug dealer doing a 2 for 1 deal or osmtin?

icy sigil
#

you can install it yourself tbh

frozen anchor
#

DIY implants πŸ€”

reef tundra
#

But is it biocompatable?

icy sigil
#

yup

#

certainly is

reef tundra
#

Fully, as in it binds fully to it

icy sigil
#

well if you want to bind to it youd want some silicone tbh

#

but if you want it to be inert

reef tundra
#

There is a polymer that allows your skin to attach to but doesnt react

icy sigil
#

it comes preloaded and sterilized in a bioglass cylinder

reef tundra
#

Else it slowly pushes it out or gets flagged as invasive

icy sigil
#

thats why the glass is totally inert and steralized

#

the body never even knows its there

reef tundra
reef patrol
#

The RFID tags are super helpful to hackers πŸ˜„

reef tundra
#

good overall info

icy sigil

yup, thats a suuuuuper old vid

reef tundra

still

reef patrol
#

Here's a much more up to date one. It's super fast and painless.

reef tundra
#

better than random info from various sources

icy sigil
#

thats actually what got me interested in biohacking the magnet implant video

reef tundra
#

yup

#

but nfc is bulky

icy sigil
#

not really

#

i have two nfc implants already

#

you wouldnt even know they are if you saw my hands

reef tundra
#

what if we use the bloodflow to power the implants

#

big brain

ivory geyser
#

Knowing me, I would break whatever implant would get put in me in a week... I managed to crack multiple reinforced watches.

icy sigil
#

your skin acts like a cushion so any action to break the implant would be agonizing

reef patrol
#

The video I linked has real life hacker use stories πŸ˜„

icy sigil
#

i actually use my implants to unlock my car

#

to store my virtual business card

#

and to rickroll unsuspecting victims

reef tundra
#

TO make it painless take a lot of alcohol pass out and wake up as your friend has injected it days ago

icy sigil
#

XD

reef tundra
#

wait

#

somethings up. I can feel it

icy sigil
#

it didnt hurt too bad tbh, it was just a little needle

#

the big boy is going to hurt like a bitch tho

reef tundra
#

For me its the sensitive skin mostly bothering me from needles injections

#

so no heroin for me

icy sigil
#

close your eyes and grit your teeth lol

reef tundra

mmmmm

Break a leg. No pain as adrenaline and quickly inject

#

i hate "industrial" computer parts

short cove
#

I might be wrong but I feel like kB tech haven't really changed

#

Since Keebs today seem to really be the same as the stuff 2-3 years ago

reef patrol
#

Honestly analog is the big push. And using different sensor tech alongside.

Aside from that it's mostly marketing words like "lowest latency ever" and such.

old marlin
#

analog is by far the biggest push

#

otherwise I'd say it has gone backwards for the last few years

reef patrol
#

I've always said - If you like your board, then don't hunt for the golden grail.

I have a wide range of keyboards and for the most part they're similar enough that I don't care to swap around constantly.

old marlin
#

switches are the only improvment for prebuilt ones at least

ivory geyser
#

analog is by far the biggest push
Yea, a push done by a single keyboard on the whole market lul

#

gg keyboard world lol

old marlin
#

unfortunately many are still stuck with cherry

#

well it kinda is

#

what have other companies introduced in the last 10 years?

#

rgb?

#

ig?

#

yea

#

2013/2014

#

sinec then

#

uhhhh

#

worse construction from cooler master

#

leopold basically replaced filco

#

and became even less mainstream

ivory geyser
#

I know what is new!

old marlin
#

mainstream?

ivory geyser
#

New keycap materials! Exclusive to China and Korea! lul

old marlin
#

?

#

wdym

short cove
#

@reef patrol the biggest push is going from microUSB to type C

reef patrol
#

Hah!

short cove
#

That's what I gathered from what I saw

old marlin
#

what does USB C actually improve though

reef patrol
#

Or from MiniUSB.

old marlin
#

ngl for keyboards mini>micro

reef patrol
#

I - HATE - mini πŸ˜„

#

My Ducky has it.

old marlin
#

lol

#

it is decent for keyboards

short cove
#

@old marlin durability mainly

old marlin
#

doesn't sit insanely tight

#

durability of micro is terrible

short cove
#

And iirc better data speeds and what not

old marlin
#

well

#

usb c can offer better data rates etc

reef patrol
#

As for C. It's just a better connector. And a lot of modern PCs have 1-2 C ports that you're unlikely to use anyhow.

old marlin
#

doesn't in this case

short cove
#

Yes that's what I mean, type C is infinitely more durable

#

It's just a better port

old marlin
#

C is pretty damn good

#

micro is pretty damn shit

#

meanwhile

#

corsair keebs are still sold only with attached cables

short cove
#

Unfortunately that seems to be the extent of new tech on kbs

old marlin
reef patrol
#

I've broken more Mini cables than Micro so far πŸ˜„

short cove
#

Not even fucking PBT key caps as standard

old marlin
#

uhhh

short cove
#

Like

old marlin
#

I mean

#

mini might become looser

#

but still works

short cove
#

How is PBT not standard in 2020

#

It's so bs

old marlin
#

PBT doesn't do backlighting

reef patrol
#

Because PBT molds are expensive.

old marlin
#

also that

reef patrol
#

99% of consumers don't know or care enough.

old marlin
#

harder to work with

#

also doesn't last forever

short cove
#

PBT has backlight wdym

old marlin
#

nah

#

PBT is opaque

#

all shine thourgh caps from "PBT" are actually not just PBT

short cove
#

Oh you mean that kind of back lighting

old marlin
#

?

ivory geyser
#

The "see-through" part of PBT double shots is done either via POM or ABS.

old marlin
#

like razer and ducky keycaps

#

are not PBT

short cove
#

I thought the double shot stuff takes care of the see through

#

Oh well

old marlin
#

well

#

yo uahve to double shot in a different material

#

or mix it from the start

#

how ducky does it

#

I personally don't care for backlighting

#

but the mainstream does

ivory geyser
#

@old marlin It is a mixture, the stuff surrounding the legend is PBT while the legend itself is ABS or POM.

short cove
#

I bought the wooting because the ducky feels too "standard"

old marlin
#

yea ik

ivory geyser
#

Well Ducky... is standard.

#

Tbh

#

It is a decent board, but about as standard as you get

old marlin
#

ducky keyboards are the pinnacle of mediocrity

ivory geyser
#

Mediocrity* :P

old marlin
#

they score a solid "Okay" in all categories

ivory geyser
#

Yep

short cove
#

I tend to think of it as a neutral term

ivory geyser
#

In all honesty tho. Scoring "okay" in all categories isnt horrible.

short cove
#

If ducky is just okay then what about corsair

old marlin
#

bad

#

just plain bad

short cove
#

Some of the stuff I witness today was pretty horrific

old marlin
#

overpriced

short cove
#

They look so weird

old marlin
#

lots of useless features

short cove
#

Like those diamond plate keys and shit

old marlin
#

but no actual useful ones?

short cove
#

Idk why they did that

old marlin
#

?

#

what are you talking about

#

the new MX switches?

#

corsair is partnered with cherry

#

so they get exclusivity to the newest switches for a while

#

along with ducky

short cove
#

No I mean the key caps

old marlin
#

ohhh

#

yea

#

idk

#

for more grip?

short cove
#

Some of those have this weird diamond plate pattern

old marlin
#

idk?

#

yea I get what you mean

#

also rumor has it that leopold will switch from cherry to JWK

#

which makes them basically the default choice if you don't want any special features or backlighting

short cove
#

Have long have switches been stagnating?

old marlin
#

?

#

what do you mean exactly?

#

like cherry MX is OLD

#

oldest known is 1983 iirc

#

problem witch cherry mx mostly is retooling and in general quality

#

like they are durable

#

but not the best experience

short cove
#

So KBs are basically using the same switches for like 47 years

old marlin
#

ehhhhh

#

they got revisions

#

and retools

#

and spec changes

#

last retool in 2017 made them quite good

#

but the toolings wear quickly

#

so buying new MX switches is not worth it anymore

short cove
#

Wow

#

This is reality

old marlin
#

?

short cove
#

I should look into who had the bright idea of making those mech membrane switches

old marlin
#

lol

#

uhhh

#

quite an old idea

short cove
#

The ornata V2 is better than I expected TBF but still why

old marlin
#

huntsman is a similar price dogeKekker

short cove
#

Base huntsman?

old marlin
#

yea

#

even then

#

not a good deal

#

neither are

short cove
#

It's cheap-er if you're not particularly informed

old marlin
#

wowee

short cove
#

So being like 110 sounds like a decent deal

#

Keyword "sounds"

#

And it doesn't feel shit

#

And is razer

old marlin
#

I mean

#

it does feel kinda shit though

#

no construction quality to speak of

#

inconsistent as hell

#

and dome over membrane

#

without fancy sliders and springs

short cove
#

It has a spring

#

Right

#

The first one did

old marlin
#

ehh

#

you mean a leafspring

#

I meant a coilspring

#

on the dome

#

with a slider on top

#

giving you activation at half travel

short cove
#

Oh

#

Yeah I mean a leaf spring

#

Which is why it was so damn heavy

old marlin
#

nah

#

that only clicks

#

has no impact on feel

#

or well

#

little to none

short cove
#

I like that the wooting comes with 8 Spares

#

I can't recall other Keebs with Spares

old marlin
#

ehhh

#

I can

#

but only shit ones

#

that come with spares

#

since the switches are expected to fail

short cove
#

Good switches plus spare is always good

Personally my perfect phone would be:
Good soc ( I know the newer high end chips are more expensive than ever so not the best)
Decent (preferably 8:5 or 16:9) oled panel
Well textured plastic back with removable battery as a bonus
Decent rumble engine
Stereo speakers on the top + bottom or if it works well behind the screen
1 decent rear camera zoom and the likes are not worth the extra cost imo
micro sd slot
front camera is really not nessesary, just get rid of it.
Decent haptic feedback (I am looking at you axon 7)
full mainline kernel support for the essential components.

I also know this is not going to happen.

you can't really have a subwoover in a house with other people in general

I mostly like to use headphones at home.

chrome estuary
#

I use speakers since I like having full awareness of my surroundings. Cause even when they're at half volume (which is plenty damn loud enough), I have plenty of spacial awareness

thick elk
#

Open back headphones give you that as well, but I can understand using speakers.
For me it's just that using it on my desk it's kind of sensitive to where I happened to sit exactly.

chrome estuary
#

I've got semi-open backs now.

#

also as I said. I've got tower speakers or "floor speakers"

thick elk

I know, our setup's are just different in general

Either way I can hear my surrounding just as well with or without headphones on.

zenith sonnet
#

So...
Both parties now have a driver out with Hardware GPU Scheduling
Has anyone done reviews/benchmarks/comparisons of the feature?

vagrant marsh
#

Alright. Got a mail back from the webshop. They say that any memory clock above 2933 is considered an overclock, because up till then its officially supported. The xmp profile is more meant for intel systems. They suggest that i should try to put the clock as high as possible without experiencing instability. I cant get a full refund on the memory because i altered it beyond specs at some point which voids the warrenty the company that makes the memory gives out. So if i want a refund, it would more be a used price refund. So im gonna go down a step until i hit a stable clock. Since my sound card was able to crash due to its instability, its a good gauge as to when its unstable.

ashen spindle
#

ok stop right there

#

thats a load of bullshit

#

"The xmp profile is more meant for intel systems" ?????

vagrant marsh
#

thats what they said

#

that the xmp profiles were more meant, and tested, for intel systems. so the xmp profile of 3600 on an intel system would be stable, but could prove unstable on an amd system

ashen spindle
#

yeah thats a load of bullshit

vagrant marsh
#

alright

ashen spindle
#

use a different email to just say your ram doesnt run and you want a refund

vagrant marsh
#

lol. they work based on accounts, so that wouldnt work πŸ˜›

#

its one of the bigger webshops in the netherlands

ashen spindle
#

@reef patrol help, how to tell this company to stop being garbage

vagrant marsh
#

im just gonna try it at a different clock, like 3533 and see how far off the 3600 it is.

ashen spindle
#

I think the xmp = warranty void is bullshit but might be legally correct

#

but idk

vagrant marsh
#

no, the xmp stuff is stuff they recommended

ashen spindle
#

xmp is literally just pre-set overclocking, if you manually put it lower than xmp it's even safer than xmp

#

so if xmp is not violating warranty, manual oc below it isn't either

#

so here's what you do, you come up with a stoy like "oh, I just noticed my brother gave me the wrong package, it was his ram, he didn't oc so I want to refund it" or smth like that

#

if they bullshit you, just bullshit them back

vagrant marsh
#

but i went outside of that and altered it in bios myself afterwards, while i had made use of their assembly service, which gives a year warrenty, but that means i need to take the pc to them if there are problems, also, i admitted i made use of software, ryzen master, that could have negatively altered the bios values and could now be the cause for the instability

#

i know what xmp is πŸ˜›

zenith sonnet
#

To be fair, XMP used to be intel specific

#

But that's no longer true

#

Btw, 2933?

ashen spindle
#

yeah I'd wait for @reef patrol to tell us if that is within the eu law, if it is, just think of a story like my example and get your money back

zenith sonnet
#

That can only be the motherboard

#

Matisse officially supports up to 3200

#

Pinnacle Ridge was 2933, iirc?

vagrant marsh
#

Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme Memory Support List released
News
Gigabyte has added a memory support list / QVL to the Aorus Xtreme motherboard page.

Top speed listed is 4400 although they have a disclaimer at the bottom of the list: "When running XMP at DDR4 3200MHz or higher, the system’s stability depends on the CPU’s capabilities."

#

so, maybe my cpu has that magical bad silicon, or what i hear them say at gamers nexus alot

#

:p

zenith sonnet
#

My Aorus Master's have no problem going 3666-3800 with 3700X's
But from personal experience I am not convinced G.Skill's XMP settings are stable

vagrant marsh
#

maybe thats the problem. i went with g.skill

ashen spindle
#

3200 is JDEC spec supported by zen2, so it's either a faulty memory controller of the cpu or a bad ram stick

zenith sonnet
#

In my kit there's a tertiary timing that's lower than what was stable with a manual OC

ashen spindle
#

g skill doesnt make the memory so doesnt really matter, is your kit listed on the QVL list?

vagrant marsh
#

if you mean the supported memory list, yea i did search that up once and it was in the list

old marlin
#

@zenith sonnet XMP only is extra memory tables

#

Never was exclusive

#

You just had to have the ability to read them

ashen spindle
#

I mean it could be a terrible IMC on the cpu, but I still think it's more likely its just a bad ram stick

vagrant marsh
#

me too

#

the first week the pc ran fine

#

it happened after i tried ryzen master

#

but i didnt alter the memory with it

ashen spindle
#

did you try a bios reset afterwards?

#

ryzen master for the most part is just a way to change bios settings on desktop

vagrant marsh
#

didnt had to. system was so unstable it resetted the bios itself due to the instability

zenith sonnet
#

Have you ever updated your BIOS?

vagrant marsh
#

yea i did. its updated to the latest bios. f12a, that adds support for the new cpu's

ashen spindle
#

hm I'd try another, manual reset and try the xmp profile again

vagrant marsh
#

i already tried that 3x.

ashen spindle
#

wait you updated the bios when exactly

zenith sonnet
#

Did you ever load an existing profile in BIOS?

vagrant marsh
#

after 2 days it goes into a start cycle, and after 4 attempts it resets bios

ashen spindle
#

did it ever work on the new bios or did that break it

vagrant marsh
#

nah, i only updated the bios recently.

#

after all the shit

zenith sonnet
#

If you had a settings profile that you created before updating, remove it, reset BIOS, and try a new one
They're not meant to be used across versions

vagrant marsh
#

i used the profile the webshop had put in place, and all it did was activate the xmp profile for the memory

#

thats all it did

ashen spindle
#

hm if you tried basic bios settings +xmp and it doesnt work, you could take a look at what the xmp is changing, loosen the sceondary/tertiary a bit perhaps, and if it works good, otherwise refund

vagrant marsh
#

look, im gonna try the memory at a little smaller clock. at 3533 instead of 3600. see how that works out. maybe that is all it has to be stable.

zenith sonnet
#

I'm using F4-3600C16Q-32GTZN kits (B-die version), and I'm also having trouble with the XMP profiles
Iirc you use the Hynix version of the same kit. Try increasing voltage (stay within spec on the DRAM modules), or compare with 1usmus DRAM calc and specifically loosen timings it gives you a higher suggested timing for

vagrant marsh
#

i thought 1.35 was the norm for overclocked ram

#

atleast,t hat is what the xmp sets it at

zenith sonnet
#

That's the norm for XMP

ashen spindle
#

voltage depends extremely on what ram kit you have micron/samsung/Hynix

vagrant marsh
#

so ur now saying that all i need to do is put it at a higher voltage

#

or 'try that and see if it works'

#

XD

ashen spindle
#

could help, could not change anything

#

sometimes higher clocks/tighter timings need more juice to be stable, sometimes they just dont work at all on a stick

zenith sonnet
#

How the heck to I read those darn JEDEC/XMP profiles again?

vagrant marsh
#

yea, but thats the problem. i did stress tests on the memory using aida64. that did nothing. if it was short of voltage, it would fail there.

zenith sonnet
#

Pff

#

Best test for RAM stability is the AMD graphics driver...

vagrant marsh
#

lol?

zenith sonnet
#

Got black screens? RAM not stable...

#

🀷

vagrant marsh
#

the problem is, that im facing a problem i never encountered before

ashen spindle
#

it's also an issue that's just a guessing game to fix it

#

some are more likely but you can't really know until you fix it

vagrant marsh
#

this is my fourth system. i had problems before. my first system had faulty memory. after an hour, system became unstable. it couldnt retrieve the info stored on the memory. i had to turn off pc and cut power and after a few minutes, so the memory got reset

#

that was a clear case

#

on my third system, the one before this, the memory simply didnt work, but they fixed that at the webshop

#

now, my pc doesnt want to boot at the given memory clock.

#

no direct instability noticable, exept for my sound card crashing

zenith sonnet
#

My money is still on the XMP profile

vagrant marsh
#

yea, me too

ashen spindle
#

wait it doesnt boot or just the sound card doesnt work?

vagrant marsh
#

running the memory at the given 3600 clock somehow causes bios reset

#

but even then, only after a day or 2

ashen spindle
zenith sonnet
#

I've had a similar issue too with BIOS resets

#

And black screens with my VII

#

+0.1V on the DRAM and all issues were gone

#

Like, poof

vagrant marsh
#

no, i start the pc. nothing wrong. it boots normally. i go play mechwarrior for an hour or so. the first thing taht happens, but isnt noticable at first, is that the sound channels start acting funny. center speaker comes out of the rear left speaker, for example. if i dont reset the card in time by going to the control panel and switch from headphone jack to speaker jacks, it crashes. you hear some ear bleeding white noise for a second and then the sound card crashes

#

now that my memory is on a lower clock, 3200, the sound card functions normally. no crashing, nothing

ashen spindle
#

ok, what PSU do you have?

zenith sonnet
#

So...
Option 1: live with a lower memory clock
Option 2: see how much voltage your RAM can handle
Option 3: Fix the timings that are bad with a manual OC

reef patrol
#

Skipping three pages of text.

Yes XMP is an overclock. There's no guarantee it'll stick. Can't hold retailers responsible for that.

vagrant marsh
ashen spindle
#

ok that should be fine

vagrant marsh
#

im trying option 1 atm

#

πŸ˜›

reef patrol
#

That PSU is top notch (I have it xD )

zenith sonnet
#

@reef patrol They were saying XMP is intel only and won't work on AMD

vagrant marsh
#

no, that xmp profiles were mostly tested for intel systems

#

and that they could be unstable for amd

zenith sonnet
#

Also that Matisse doesn't support more than 2933 memory clock

vagrant marsh
#

that tehy did say

zenith sonnet
#

Ah, still false

vagrant marsh
#

or atleast with my system that 2933 is the max supported memory clock and that everything above is overclock

#

i think that

zenith sonnet
#

That's also false

vagrant marsh
#

ok

zenith sonnet
#

3rd Generation AMD Ryzenβ„’ processors:

vagrant marsh

so up to 3200

ashen spindle

it could be that 2933 is the default of your kit, does it run lower if you dont do anything?

vagrant marsh
#

yea, 2133

ashen spindle
#

yeah that number makes no sense then

It's highest JEDEC profile should be 2133

vagrant marsh
#

2133 is the lowest ddr4 standardized clock right?

zenith sonnet
#

Nah

#

1333 iirc

ashen spindle
#

1600 is lowest jedec

vagrant marsh
#

meh

#

im gonna test it at 3533 for the coming week. if nothing happens, then its stable and im not gonna question it any further

zenith sonnet
#

You'd be better off looking at the timings, I think

vagrant marsh
#

maybe sometime later when i feel adventurous πŸ˜›

ashen spindle
#

ehh, definitely compare the performance of that with other speeds, idk what ram/IFclock works best at, if you can chose anything you want etc.

vagrant marsh
#

yea, the bios does allow like over 20 different settings to be adjusted

If the end game is LED wallpaper for your entire ceiling, I might be interested

#

No more point lights, fuck those

reef patrol
#

I don't get it either. Honestly.

old marlin
#

uhhhh

#

uhhhhh monkaS

#

those already exist

misty pier
#

why do you need that much light

old marlin
#

yes

zenith sonnet
#

Also, can I finally get an E27 LED bulb with >90 CRI?

misty pier
#

just buy a $20 lamp and that's enough light

zenith sonnet
#

No

old marlin
#

?

#

95 CRI

zenith sonnet
#

Eww 2700K

#

Well, at least it's something

#

Wasn't able to find any last year

old marlin
#

what temperature do you want dogeKekker

#

you can get soem dodgier stuff claiming it btw

zenith sonnet
#

4000K seems most cozy
5500K is also great

old marlin
#

5500k-6000k

zenith sonnet
#

A bit on the high side, but a lot better than 2700K, lol

old marlin
zenith sonnet
#

Now that's almost what I want

old marlin
#

problem with it?

zenith sonnet

It's pretty dim

#

How much is too much?

#

Guess 13 000 is a little bright for this room, but 8 000?

#

πŸ€”

#

27 000lm in one bulb pogu

#

I want one for shits and giggles

short cove
#

Assuming this lekker switch tech goes through

#

I can get a pack of it and retrofit my wooting one with it right

frozen anchor
#

nope

#

different pcb

short cove
#

Bummer

frozen anchor
#

and even if you got the lekker pcb and sawed off the numpad it still wont fit in the old wooting cases

short cove
#

Wait why is it that the international store doesn't sell switches

#

How do I get replacement ones then

ivory geyser
#

They are temporarily out of stock from what I heard.

#

I think it was Calder who said there should be some coming in July

short cove
#

Like the int one doesn't even have the listing

#

So I got curious

frozen anchor
#

wooting is phasing out flaretech but they will still have some replacement switches if you email them

#

is what i heard

ivory geyser
#

Well yes, but phasing them out slowly.

#

Not imidiatelly

short cove
#

That would be bad if I want to get some reds

#

Just hope going proprietary is the right choice for me

frozen anchor
#

can always murder the clickbars on your blues

short cove
#

How

frozen anchor
#

you have to take the switches apart and then either take out the clickbar or cut it

#

i know on some switches its hard to take them out but im not sure for flaretech

#

and if you want red <-> black just buy some springs

short cove
#

Interesting I thought they're like completely different inside

#

So red and blue only differ by a single part?

frozen anchor
#

not sure exactly

#

ok here it is

#

so it differs by 2 parts

#

clickjacket and tactile leaf

ivory geyser
#

It is very easy to do.

#

Just get the right trick to open the switches.

#

Unless you have a dedicated switch opener

frozen anchor
#

opening switches is easy

#

but when you have to do a ton your hands start hurting a ton

#

if you dont have a switch opener

ivory geyser
#

Yep

frozen anchor
#

and just use a screwdriver

ivory geyser
#

I was using scissors lol

frozen anchor
#

uh

short cove
#

So I just get the spring out and the orange thing off and it presumably turns into effectively a red switch

frozen anchor
#

dont do that

short cove
#

Right

frozen anchor
#

lol scissors are bad

ivory geyser
#

Why?

short cove
#

I have some precision tools

#

Well "precision"

frozen anchor
#

you will scratch stuff a lot easier with scissors

#

well you need to take out the leaf and the clickjacket

#

and if you want you could change the spring weight

ivory geyser
#

I means for pushing the scissor blades under the legs to open the switch.

short cove
#

Ah so basically the reason why the blue switches have the orange colour is because of the jacket?

#

Interesting

ivory geyser
#

Basically using them as tweezers

frozen anchor
#

what kind of scissors do you have that are tiny enough to do that

ivory geyser
#

Manicure ones

frozen anchor
#

oh

#

i was thinking normal scissors

#

and i was like wtf

ivory geyser
#

Jesus christ no.

short cove
#

I will experiment with one of the spare blue switches to see if I can convert it to a red

ivory geyser
#

That would be insane

short cove
#

But thanks for the pic

#

Is there a guide to how do to this?

frozen anchor
#

as long as you can get the clickjacket off it should be easy

#

i doubt it

ivory geyser
#

Actually yea there is

#

STRAIGHT from Wooting

frozen anchor
#

well you need to do a bit more than that but yeah thats how to open them

short cove
#

Man this is great
