Only happens in fast paced scenes, though

If you used lower sens I doubt your aim would move much pushing your mouse buttons

zenith sonnet
#

That does not solve the issue itself

#

:p

#

I need a different mouse mat

frozen anchor
#

Well if your sens is that twitchy it might be a big part of the issue

#

It shouldn't matter a ton for aim what mousepad you use

#

Some pads are nicer for sure but you should be decent on any pad

#

But I'm not gonna try to force you to change your sens

#

But it might help your aim some

Hey Devs, would you guys be willing to intigrate whirlwind fx "signal" software which supports html/canvas and Java for their lighting effects. It's open source.

looks a lot like stuff that you could do with Aurora?

I'm in the discord with them and thought it would be an excellent combination

@wheat plume Is there a program that'll dim my second and third display when I have a game running on my primary monitor? 🤔

wheat plume
#

idk

timid chasm
#

surely * that exists

but I use discord dark mode and reddit dark mode for that same effect, haha

You could also turn it off 😂

which is a terrible solution but a solution nonetheless

Looks like there is a script for display fusion. May need the paid version for that though

DF definitely has it as a feature and it's not in the free version.

anyone know how to make plasma automatically delete your trash and cache folders after a certain time?

lean oasis

how tf do people get viruses on linux

wheat plume
#

how tf do people get viruses on linux
@lean oasis by being dumb

vagrant marsh
#

Lol. Any logical conclusion would end in "linux has no big vieusses to deal with because no1 uses linux"

wheat plume
#

lots of people do, just that compared to the amunt that use windows it isnt much

vagrant marsh
#

And these are just steam users, i know linux is used on servers and such for its simplicity.

wheat plume
#

I find it funny and great that it surpasses windows server in Azure :')

vagrant marsh
#

Not every game works well on linux

wheat plume
#

Linux beat the windows alternative in that market

#

Not every game works well on linux
@vagrant marsh if the devs made a native port it wold work fine ;-;

lean oasis
#

im just waiting for the downfall of windows

wheat plume
#

Linux is capable of playing them, just barely anyone ports it

#

im just waiting for the downfall of windows
@lean oasis same..... probably wont be in my lifetime though :/

vagrant marsh
#

I dunno. I know of a game called Banished. The dev, just 1 guy, looked into it but said eventually that converting to linux was too dofficult.

lean oasis
#

i mean, linux is growing very fast in recent years. If we wont beat microsoft then we will atleast get tons of support

wheat plume
#

Sadly. too many peopl still belive that Linux is ugly and laggy and hard to install and doesnt have software they like

lean oasis
#

i managed to get photoshop on my pc with just a script on github

wheat plume
#

some told me last week they wish Linux had chrome browser..... BOI I showed you a screenshot of chrome on my Linux install....Y U NU BELIVE ME

lean oasis
#

lmao

vagrant marsh
#

Plus, steam machines which ran on linux never really did that great all together. Every attempt valve did to promote linux really didnt took off.

wheat plume
#

actually, chrome integrates with Plasma desktop WAYYY WAYYYY better than firefox can hope to achieve

#

which is depressing

lean oasis
#

firefox is kinda wonky on linux rn

wheat plume
#

it doesnt like touch screens

lean oasis
#

i had to configure firefox and shit just to watch hulu

wheat plume
#

you try to scroll and it starts highlighting text instead

#

o.o plasma desktop just restarted on me

#

I assume cause the clam scan

vagrant marsh
#

Meh. I just want something of which im sure it works out of the box and with everything i wanna install.

#

And windows still provides

#

Plus, you can get windows keys for like 3 euro.

reef patrol
#

OR reuse an old Win7 key

vagrant marsh
#

I think thats what most of them are.

reef patrol
#

Probably.

wheat plume
#

1 possible threat?

#

-.-

wheat plume
#

are .dll files purely windows stuff or can be be used by linux apps?

reef patrol
#

Not natively.

#

But I assume things that are multi-platform have a lazy use for them.

fair gull
#

.net core/.net 5 uses dlls in its crosscompiled apps

#

works flawless

wheat plume
#

oooh

#

idk what I would have installed that uses that?

ashen spindle
#

you dont really think anyone here knows everyhting on your system

fair gull
#

especially with the 20reinstalls every day

#

if you wouldnt reinstall your os 200 times per hour we might know what u have installed

ashen spindle
#

even then, aside formm some generic things idk what they use to compile it, at best I might know the language used for it

fair gull
#

i mean usually shit done in rust/c can easily come as a bundle gzip that includes dll, so and dylib files

#

so that 1 file can be used in multiple os after extraction

vagrant marsh
#

Too bad windows defender doesnt work for linux

reef patrol
#

😄

fair gull
#

i dont get it

wheat plume
#

this scan is still running...

#

how long it take

fair gull
#

linux good os

wheat plume
#

indeed

fair gull
#

the question is do i need to start using sarcasm indicators

wheat plume
#

nah

wheat plume
#

The scan finished, it scanned EVERYTHING related to WINE as a PUP

#

also every libreoffice macro

#

some things frmo left for dead 2 also.... :') wtf?

#

but no virus or toolkit!

vagrant marsh
#

and thats...bad?

#

well, perspectivewise. its bad it took so long and hasnt found anything. which doesnt really justify the long scan

wheat plume
#

the scan finished at 493974 files XD

#

i find it odd it scanned every office marco as potentially unwanted

pale sigil
#

I dont get why our wifi is so trash, i rarely have problems unless im downstairs yet my sister and mum have constant problems

thick elk
#

Depends a lot on your location, location of the router and also very important how crap your device is.
Lastly holding it in such a way that it blocks the signal more is a real thing.

pale sigil
#

I know

#

But it shouldn't be this bad.

#

Connected to a UK VPN server

thick elk
#

Just get an extra access point and wire it up.
Some providers give you the crappiest wifi routers.
The one I got from my provider was absolute dogshit on the wifi department. (does not even have 5ghz support)

#

Just using 2.4ghz in a lot of cases especially with a lot of nabours close by is just asking for trouble.

#

So what is your setup actually?

pale sigil
#

Money tbh

#

Good old isp router

#

Virgin Media Superhub 3

#

Which is pooooooooooooooooooooop

thick elk
#

not the best but looking at it certainly not the worst by isp standards

reef patrol
#

Nokia modem and my own router. No gateway modules from ISPs here.

thick elk
#

I think we now get to choose our routers here, generally the biggest problem is that providers don't give you the sip credentials, forcing the use of their provided ones if you want the landline.

As for the router I got from my provider it's okay just practically useless wifi.

I can even understand their choice of routers. Not a lot of options if you want wifi, a phone connector and a fsp port for fiber.

My previous one solved this by having a separate fsp modem.

So basically I have a somewhat budget business focussed router which is fine as long as you get your own wifi.

#

it's still a €200 router though. Just a bad fit to roll out to the average consumer

pale sigil
#

we dont get a choice here

#

At least

#

Not all companies offer a choice

thick elk
#

choice as in you can replace the provided one with your own if you want / don't care about your landline / know what you are doing in terms of vlan's and such

pale sigil
#

ye no

#

Well

#

Kinda

#

I still have to use their hardware

thick elk
#

in case anyone is wondering I got a DrayTek Vigor 2132FVn

from my provider.

#

ah cable

pale sigil
#

So like i literally ahve to use their hardware

#

Not matter what

#

DrayTek? you on a business connection?

thick elk
#

Nope just home fiber, hence it being an odd choice

pale sigil
#

That is odd

thick elk
#

they probably didn't want a separate modem for fiber and once you go into routers with an fsp port you will pretty much always be using business routers.

old marlin

got a raspberry running a simple page in chromium kiosk mode

#

not a lot of data but refreshes like every 5 minutes

but it somehow manages to fill up the ram and then chromium can't load the page anymore dogeKekker

halcyon moss
#

sounds like your page has a memory leak

old marlin
#

I really don't know how

#

well not my page to begin with

but I heavily dooubt it

and only ever had the problems on the raspberry

halcyon moss
#

refreshing doesnt clear everything sometimes in my experience

#

try firefox?

old marlin

does that have a kiosk mode?

that can be started from command line?

halcyon moss

i think like 10 years ago i made a kiosk thingy with firefox

I'd guess that battery saving mode just forces dark mode where it can

shadow minnow
old marlin

I eman

#

they make it cause people buy it

shadow minnow
#

But so bad value

old marlin
#

yea not disagreeing

shadow minnow
#

You get better features with 50$ Corsair kb

old marlin
#

the gaming industry mostly hasn't understood that you have to show people stuff to make them want it

shadow minnow
#

Yeah, like Logitech, still no USB C ...

ashen spindle
#

anyone here familiar with using udpclients, using .net but problem is probably just general with it

shadow minnow
#

I do not even care about USB C on phones that much, but not having it on peripherals...

#

I mean, there are many razer fanboys so many will buy it but still...

#

Anyone looking at features, will find out that there is no reason to buy it. Sometimes companies can justify but expensive products with special features (analog switches, wireless 1ms connectivity...) but when the product does not even offer any special feature....

old marlin
#

well

#

wireless on it's own is a special feature

#

mice also have more than features

#

things like

#

shape

#

clickfeel

#

etc

#

razer nails most of those for mice at least

#

logitech uhhhhhh

#

well

#

tehy have good wireless

#

ig

ivory geyser
#

@shadow minnow that thing should be outlawed tbh. It is a membrane with a clicky wire strapped to it.

#

It is a rip-off.

#

Absolute at that

shadow minnow
#

Tbh I wish wooting two LE had wireless connectivity

old marlin
#

too high power consumption

#

the wooting boards are all close to 2.5W

shadow minnow
#

RGB still consumes most

#

Logitech managed to get 47 hours

old marlin
#

actually a big part is detection electronics

#

on wooting boards

shadow minnow
#

Think wooting could get 24 hours out of it

old marlin
#

they'd need liek a 6000mAh battery

#

if you compare it to a phone

#

to even get close to that

frozen anchor
#

@shadow minnowthat kb is $100? you can get a huntsman tkl for $112 lol

old marlin
#

if you don't factor in wireless tech power drain

#

and while plugged you have to go in a low power mode

ivory geyser
#

Wooting should eventually start setting higher-tier cases for the keeb for those wishing to make their keebs more fancy! 🤔

shadow minnow
#

Another nice feature would be water resistance, so I must not worry about spilling water

old marlin
#

to be able to use and charge at the same time

shadow minnow
#

@old marlin phone is much much smaller

old marlin
#

ik

#

I mean if you compared it to what a phone uses

shadow minnow
#

More place for batteries than in phone

#

I think there was 5000 mah battery in normal phone

old marlin
#

yea

#

factor in wireless

#

and you need like 10 Ah realistically

#

to reach 24 hours of use time

#

way too big

shadow minnow
#

Wireless is not that much

old marlin
#

it isn't a lot

shadow minnow
#

My mouse’s wireless module consumes 2-3 mah

old marlin
#

on what end

shadow minnow
#

So that is * 48 mah

#

6048

old marlin
#

pc end?

#

or mosue end?

shadow minnow
#

Mouse end

old marlin
#

and which mouse

shadow minnow
#

G703 Hero

old marlin
#

well that is nice

#

but logitech has the best and most efficient wireless protocoll

shadow minnow
#

Whole mouse with rgb on consumes less than 10 mah

old marlin
#

on 3.7V

#

I'd guess

#

so 0.037W?

shadow minnow
#

They managed to give so much money info development of wireless technology but can not implement USB C lol

old marlin
#

thing is

#

what do you need a wireless keyboard for?

#

also look at when they released the original G403 wireless

shadow minnow
#

Although, wireless is lot bigger selling point than USB C

old marlin
#

which the G703 hero is absed on

shadow minnow
#

@old marlin to have no cables on table

old marlin
#

you'll still need cables to charge though

shadow minnow
#

Although I had another idea how to do it

old marlin
#

and ideally receivers on the desk

#

to ensure a stable connection

shadow minnow
#

Receiver can be under desk

#

Not that much distance

#

I have small table

old marlin
#

I have seen people having problems with conenctions with that

#

distance is not the problem

#

but material in the way is

shadow minnow
#

But still, my mouse works nicely even when 3m away from receiver

old marlin
#

yea

#

not for everyone

#

I love wireless mice

shadow minnow
#

I mean if you will not count material, but distance that it must go to get around table it is like 40-50cm

old marlin
#

but for different reasons

shadow minnow
#

Why?

old marlin
#

no cable that annoys me with dragging

shadow minnow
#

But yeah, I also like wireless mouse for that, no cables on table is just bonus 😄

old marlin
#

fml

#

why is linux such a pain

shadow minnow
#

Because Linux tech tips

zenith sonnet

My GPW is starting to show double click issues on the LMB

#

@old marlin Any sensible fix?

old marlin
#

RMA

zenith sonnet

It's probably still warranty, though

old marlin
#

or swap the switch everytime it starts happening

zenith sonnet
#

To bad you can't bake mouses

#

Or maybe toast?

old marlin
#

lol

#

nah

#

the problem is oxidation in the switches

#

wouldn't happen if logitech didn't undervolt them too far

#

but specsheets are hard to read ig

#

error rate apparently is low enough for them not to fix their most selling mouse as well

zenith sonnet
#

Is undervolting the only cause?

#

Cause that's how all of my mice died since like 2001

old marlin
#

not the only one

#

but the one in this case

ashen spindle

thonk This Razer Ornata V2 ... low profile proprietary keycaps on proprietary faux-mech low-travel switches.. so it has the potential to be a low profile keyboard... So they built it into a THICC chassis and elongated the keycap stems making it about 5cm thick such that you basically need a wristrest (which is included and magnetic, wow) But hey, cable routing options

At least the keycaps graphics and layout are good 🙂

reef tundra
#

Nice, windows 10 has forced an update on me and commmited sepakku so now it just bootloops. Whoohow

wheat plume
#

Ah yes
The most janky OS that's holding on with life support of code written decades ago

lean oasis

windows 10 is literally just parts ripped off older windows releases but with new fancy gui with ads

reef tundra
#

The big problem is that they stopped testing it thorohlou and virualised all the testing hard ware and mostly rely on the user report to detect en correct bugs

#

Plus the bloat is real

Managed to fully clash windows by restarting the bluetooth service. That caused it to fully turn off immidiatly. Not even BSOD just off

reef patrol

I postponed my update a month, since it fudged with borderless full screen games.

Can I digital input mapping xbox controller for analog input without wootility?

#

like reWASD or joytokey

reef patrol
#

Yes...no.

#

An Xbox controller doesn't HAVE digital inputs. It's a controller.

#

What are you trying to achieve exactly?

ashen spindle
#

you can use those tools to create the same fake controller on a wooting as on any other keyboard but they can't interact with the firmware to save what key is supposed to be what controller button for the analog bindings

#

but I'm also failing to see the point in using another tool for it?

weary cedar
#

I playing fifa online4 in korea. this game shoud mapping left Joystict to arrows keys because w,a,s,d is binded for skills so I want mapping right joystick to shift + arrows keys but wootility does not support T_T

ashen spindle
#

with the current remapping in the beta, you could change where WASD are, so you could use those for the joystick and have the skills elsewhere

weary cedar
#

is ther no way without change the skills keys?

ashen spindle
#

You could use the arrow keys without shift, but it needs to be one key not a combo

#

I guess with the analog SDK you could write something that only takes the analog input if you also hold shift, but you'd need to write that yourself, don't think anyone needed something like that

Thanks for the advice!.. but I don't know how to use analog SDK because I'm not programmer...

TBH amd XT processors are so bad value, + 4% gaming performance (still not enough to beat intel) and over 15% price increase.

ashen spindle
#

erm

#

except they are the exact same price

thick elk
#

They have the same msrp, just a lot of outlets comparing retail price to msrp.
It would be pretty reasonable to assume they will be a bit more expensive or rather the old stock will be a bit cheaper at launch.

ashen spindle
#

many compared it to the prices with the temporary reduced prices amd had for comet lake launch

#

and till amd are reducing the non xt prices for etailers, any cheaper prices there are only if they want to take the hit to get rid of inventory

zenith sonnet
#

Wait for benchmarks

thick elk
#

Effectively I do expect a price difference that would generally favor buying the non xt version at launch, but nothing too dramatic.

zenith sonnet
#

Up to 4% could be nothing

thick elk
#

I don't think we need to wait for benchmarks, same arch just higher boosts

ashen spindle
#

I mean it's 100mhz boost more, we kinda know what that changes

zenith sonnet
#

They seldom reach max boost clock anyway

thick elk
#

true, but you can expect them to be about as close to that, just with a 100-200mhz offset

zenith sonnet
#

Even under 1T loads, only with good cooling

ashen spindle
#

if you want to buy one, get xt if its the same price, otherwise the non xt, done with the review lul

zenith sonnet
#

They could also be significantly better binnings, and boost much better than expected
Or just do the same work at -x% power

ashen spindle
#

the 4% are amd's own numbers so it's not a chance to be any more

#

prob have to wait for wikichips or similar to take a look at the die and see what changed, to maybe see why we are getting these products

zenith sonnet
#

If reviewers compare them with their old Ryzen chips from last year summer, might see some bigger differences

ashen spindle

cause OLED burn in is a big problem on phones atm?

neat oriole

And has better colour accuracy

old marlin
#

cause color accuarcy on my low res small screen is important?

neat oriole

OLED decays at different rates based on the colour of the diode so your screen won’t look wonky

After a while of course

how many dimming zones does the LCD have?

I can agree that 750p is weird resolution but LCD isn’t the problem

old marlin

there is a reason the WHOLE industry switched to OLED

#

Enthusiasts can go off for days about the SE being a shit phone but for the other 95% of people it’s all the phone they’ll ever need

old marlin
#

the 95% could get the same experience with a phone half or 3/4 the cost

#

that is the problem

neat oriole
#

They literally can’t because only Apple makes iOS devices

#

Getting a budget android phone to run as smooth as an SE requires more fiddling around than most regular people are willing to do

#

There’s also apple’s longer commitment to software updates

#

You spend 400 quid it’s gonna last you 5 years easily

#

I have an 8 year old iPod touch and it still runs very well

#

Most people don’t care about hardware and at some point apple’s focus on software just makes them better to the average Joe

#

And the spec race is pointless when there are other major limiting factors like the battery

#

And I don’t mean shoving a 6000mah battery into every phone I mean a lighter, more energy-dense battery

#

I personally think the sweet spot for phone displays is 90-120hz @ 1080p, and proper 1080p RGB not some weird 1080p RBGB. Anything more the difference is negligible and just drains more battery

reef patrol

That sounds... illegal.

old marlin
#

apparently they legitamize it by only offereing the eSIM in iPhones as a deal

reef patrol
#

eSIM or not Apple chooses who they make preferable deals with. But they can't block other Telecoms from using the hardware once out of contract.

old marlin

and the provider on the phone and the watch has to be the same

best part was that the change wasn't documented in any way

bad part is

crimson wigeon

why not mirror your repos on all the hosting services

wheat plume

why not do version control locally by copying the entire project each time you need to modify it

reef tundra
#

Just get a domainname and vps(renting a part of a server and do what ever you want with root permissions). Then you can host a git server on it and reach it from anywhere and having full control over the git server. And while you having it it can also be an email server, vpn, search engine, dns, website, minecraft. It is also quite cheap to get it set up the most basic can be 1 euro per month but keep the limitations in mind. Mostly the transfer limit, storage size, memory are the biggest factors. But there are good options around 10 to 20 euro per month range. Plus the big advantage is that it isnt owned by microsuck trying to spy on everyone and you have a server that can do a lot more. And access can be completely controlled. (ssh + gpg_keys + whitelist - login = no password login while those not on the list cannot enter). Some just grab a raspberry pi and open a port to be able to meme away.
