Eithr way after buying my first smart switch i got the following free

  • Smart bedside clock
  • Few smart plugs
  • Outdoor plug
  • Dehumidifier
  • Bulbs
  • Wires
#

Anker i got free shit off too

#

and Syn something

#

and basically i buy it on amazon and they refund over paypal

sick creek
#

haha that's so shitty

pale sigil
#

πŸ˜‰

sick creek
#

thanks for contributing to fake reviews πŸ™„

pale sigil
#

tbh if it was god awful i dont give it 5 stars

#

The clock was neat but i gave it 4 as i wish it used micro usb

sick creek
#

yea but the message you're sending to the mfr is that they should keep doing it

pale sigil
#

All of them do it

#

even the big ones like anker

#

etc

sick creek
#

shitty

pale sigil
#

Most products deserve the rating

#

anyway

#

Ill tell you whats shitty

sick creek
#

i find that rarely any product deserves 5 stars lol

pale sigil
#

One time i got a cable from Syncwire a few years back, it literally burned up and fell to pieces in a few weeks, i put a very harsh review with pics.

#

They contacted me and "gifted" me 50 quid worth of stuff i still use now.

#

To remove the review

#

lol

sick creek
#

...

#

see its that shit

#

i'm glad you feel good about getting $5 of cheap trinkets for helping them save $$$$

pale sigil
#

almost everything i have used from meross is worthy of 5 star, my switches are great and do exactly what i want, bulbs work well and pretty good so far, clock was really good but i gave a 4 star, outdoor plugs we use now and they have not leaked or anything etc

#

So its not like im lying.

#

As for the syncwire shit

#

that was my choice

#

i could have kpt it up

#

but i would have felt even more shittier

sick creek
#

should have*

#

and why?

#

because you're "hurting" some brand that doesn't give two fucks about you

pale sigil
#

Because i still respect the whole this for this

sick creek
#

respect what again

#

it broke

pale sigil
#

They gave me something in return for something

ashen spindle
#

you respect a company trying to cover up a burning cable? what

pale sigil
#

no

sick creek
#

yes thats exactly what it is

pale sigil
#

i respect the idea of giving something for something and holding up to it

sick creek
#

.................................

#

no dude that's not how it works

ashen spindle
#

you should get a replacement yes but that doesnt mean you should remove a negative review for it happening in the first place

sick creek
#

^

pale sigil
#

They gave me something of value to do something in return.

#

Well ye replacement is different

sick creek
#

wow so if i give you $500 will you jump off a bridge and kys?

ashen spindle
#

you can add that the other stuff is great and they were helpful, making it a good lok after all

sick creek
#

like what

pale sigil
#

Well no i would still have to accept the terms

sick creek
#

oh my god

pale sigil
#

So if someone said $500 to jump off a bridge ofc id say no

#

I mean i have limits

sick creek
#

bad example but dude

#

they gave you some cheap shit in exchange for COVERING UP their shitty products

#

that literally was a bribe

pale sigil
#

For example i sell ad space on a buy and sell group, one time someone offered a large and i mean large sum for th space but their company was very shady.

sick creek
#

not a "business transaction"

ashen spindle
#

giving a company a second chance and saying you think they redeemed themselves is much better than accepting a bribe to cover up a dangerous product

pale sigil
#

And i mean shady, buying peoples debts shady.

#

And i never did it so i do draw lines

#

i guess

ashen spindle
#

and I dont care what other stuff you do or not do, that all doesn't change that one situation

sick creek
#

yeah those are strawman arguments

pale sigil
#

every cheap cable is dangerous

sick creek
#
  1. that's a sweeping generalization and 2) no
ashen spindle
#

even more reason to keep reviews that warn about the actual dangerous ones around

pale sigil
#

Idk, i guess im a dick but i just felt bad after giving me stuff i left it, idk blob_shrug

#

this was years ago

sick creek
#

should have taken the stuff and kept the review up

pale sigil
#

nevr happened again

#

i almost did tbf

#

like i left it up for a while

sick creek
#

well, next time, dont remove a shitty review

pale sigil
#

Most of the time i get a replacement i do edit my review tho

#

this was only once really

sick creek
#

the only time a review update is warranted is if you are given a replacement and it doesnt also fail in the same spectacular fashion

ashen spindle
#

do you edit and change it, or add to it

pale sigil
#

both

#

II usually say they sent a replacement

#

then later on

#

edit again if its still working

#

i always do reviews for my goods

ashen spindle
#

but then you only edit the part about the replacement and not the original that did break I hope?

pale sigil
#

Oh ofc i leave the original part of it

#

i do wqhat i do on reddit

original statement

EDIT:Date: This this this

ashen spindle
#

thats fine, but not obvious after you just said you deleted a bad one

sick creek
#

i'm outta here but please dont cover for these companies anymore, for our sake

pale sigil
#

i only did it once

sick creek
#

or else i'll shake my fist violently in your general direction

@digital cliff it means that online games might kill the internet by overloading it due to people staying home thanks to corona

old marlin
#

especially since more people stream nowadays

cedar glen
#

because it's not like online games take a lot of bandwidth in comparison to streaming services
unless it's stadia

#

owait my bad, you said gaming, not memeing

halcyon moss
#

well downloading the game takes up a lot

#

but actual online play is peanuts

reef patrol
#

You can stream a LOT of netflix hours in the bandwidth it takes to grab a big game πŸ˜„

wheat plume
#

O.o

#

180GB ......

#

thats like 80% of my SSD space :')

reef patrol
#

A lot of games now are 60+

#

Fortnite of all games is up there.

wheat plume
#

Fortnite is how much??

reef patrol
#

It's something like 70GB now.

#

They keep adding skins and shit, and every season has new models and themes that don't get purged with the next ones.

ashen spindle
#

but even then, those things dont need losless transmission, doesnt matter if you dont get the game in perfect order, so the strain isnt as much as a video stream, where you do need every pixel for each frame

reef patrol
#

I mean... you do.

#

Otherwise you're getting crap data in the end πŸ˜„

#

Video doesn't need immediate 1:1. We have this neat technology called buffering.

ashen spindle
#

yes both are exaggerations because I didnt want to wirte an entire essay

#

the gist is that games dont hog that much bandwidth, agreeing with what you said

reef patrol
#

Once downloaded? No. Games use surprisingly little bandwidth πŸ™‚

ashen spindle
#

yeah idk

reef patrol
#

It all depends on your phrasing.

Overall do games use more bandwidth than Netflix streaming? Probably yeah.

#

"Games don't take up a lot of bandwidth compared to streaming"

Yes they do, once you add in downloading of the actual game.

#

Of course we can.

cedar glen
#

Fortnite has a 10-20gb update each week from what a friend told me, tbh

ashen spindle
#

mostly because we were all agreeing...

cedar glen
#

Cause unreal engine + no diff patch, they just overwrite big ass files for a small fix

reef patrol
#

You're going to be using roughly a gigabyte of data on average for streaming Netflix at standard settings.

So with Fortnite as an example, you need to watch 70 hours, ignoring any updates to exceed the game

#

(And any small amount of post-download bandwidth usage from actually playing of course)

#

Oh and VOIP if you're a youngster playing with their Discord clan of 4 friends πŸ˜„

cedar glen
#

Eh discord uses what, 10 kbps?

reef patrol
#

I don't need to, to make an average comparison. πŸ˜„

ashen spindle
#

im pretty sure fortnites size is below 50gb on what you download btw

reef patrol
#

It streams a lot of the data post-install. πŸ™‚

ashen spindle
#

download size=/=unpacked data size

reef patrol
#

Not a lot to compress in this day and age.

ashen spindle
#

uhh what

reef patrol
#

Anyhoo - Gotta take the daily trip o' death to the stores to grab supplies. Wish me luck πŸ˜„

ashen spindle
zenith sonnet

I'm pretty sure the bandwidth I used to watch anime exceeds games downloaded by a order of a magnitude

#

I still have some 3 TiB sitting on my harddrive

#

Netflix rips? What's the point of that?

halcyon moss

defintly

latent mural
#

my mind is blown

#

Seriously, Lekker and now there’s this.

thick elk
#

The keyboard has some things going for it but I do not like thier implementation of a media dock at all. display is too small to be useful, masking it a dial like that seems rather inefficient and over all more a gimmick than anything else. they also went for an lcd for that display which in the current day really isn't that great for this type of thing.

#

I also wonder about the price they are selling for.
I can't imagine it having great build quality and good software for that price.

#

mostly yea though conceptually having a numpad that can be docked on the left has its benefits. Although it may not be worth the tradeoff

#

for the quality them going for an lcd for that dial is pretty showing to me. and looking at that video the dial looks rough as do the color icon buttons on top of the numpad

reef patrol
#

The Everest... When you make a keyboard that both looks and feels cheap

#

The dial area looks like it'll break in months at best from wear.

halcyon moss
#

you should not need an expensive attachment for media keys

thick elk
#

It won't break in months, you will get brored and throw it in a box after a few days

latent mural
#

@digital cliff @reef patrol Hot-swappable Cherry MX Switches, N-Key Rollover, modular numpad, anodized aluminum chasis. Are the stand out features, the media dock is just a bonus you don't even have to get it if you feel it looks cheap.

#

Overall it looks fairly high quality, can be replaced with PBT keycaps and the switch of your choice.

#

If you could get a Lekker switch into it... now that would be something.

#

"but wouldn't you rather just pick one side" not really, it's nice to be able to use it as a TKL during gaming and normal sized while working.

#

Display Keys on the numpad is very nice too

zenith mirage
#

eh, i think most people would just buy an external numpad if they wanted one

#

rather than spend that much on a gimmicky keyboard

#

no doubt there are people out there who would do that, but still

latent mural
#

IMO the Everest is the next best keyboard from the Lekker for the price

zenith mirage
#

well, you're entitled to it

latent mural
#

I don't think it's a gimmick, it looks like a solid board. Media dock is optional. Everest is better than 99% of "gaming" keyboards.

zenith mirage
#

it's surely just a dressed down gaming keyboard

latent mural
#

@digital cliff with that logic Lekker is also a gimmick

#

made of plastic though

#

everest is anodized aluminum

zenith mirage
#

looks kindy tacky too

#

imo

latent mural
#

@zenith mirage only the media dock looks tacky imo

zenith mirage
#

well then our opinions differ

latent mural
#

They do indeed. I'd rather the Everest over a Wooting 1/2 but would not sacrifice my Lekker for one.

#

I also think we'll see a lot more innovative keyboards in the coming years, the everest just a first of many like it i reckon

zenith mirage
#

if you say so

latent mural
#

From past experiences I tend to not take the opinion of people with Cat avatars very seriously.

zenith mirage
#

ok bro

#

no need to get personal

#

#

i just happen to think it's all gimmicks wrapped in marketing. If it's good so be it, it's just not for me

#

yep

#

cedar glen
#

drevo ?

#

you mean that keyboard with the intelligent dick ?

#

or was it a genius knob?

zenith mirage
#

OwO

latent mural
#

Everest looks well designed (apart from media dock) but quality remains to be seen. Unlikely i'd buy one without seeing reviews.

#

I also tend to dislike having multiple peripherals of the same kind

#

my personal philosophy is something like "buy the best forget the rest"

#

but that's probably something to do with living in a small apartment

reef patrol
#

I saw a review - It looked cheap. That's all I need to know. Doesn't matter if the frame is alu, if the smaller parts aren't to spec. πŸ™‚

halcyon moss
#

To add some fuel to the fire, i like the detachable numpad. i rarely use one, and might be useful in some games

latent mural
#

detachable or left side is ideal for right handers ergonomics, it's the only downside i consider about the Lekker

reef patrol
#

I'll reserve judgement - I always hope to be wow'ed. But Frank's preview didn't do that.

wheat plume

i mean im not even sure if ure interested in programming

wheat plume

And then few weeks later in class she asks us who is doing the code for us all because the code is shit

fair gull
#

i have a bad feels about it being part of a class

assuming they are plain old membervariables there should be no issue

wheat plume
#

Yeh
It's a class with setters and getters and a constructor

#

Member class

fair gull
#

honestly would leave the this in myself aswell cause the compile would optimize the ever living shit out of it anyway

ashen spindle
#

ehh sure but you should almost never have to use this. as it's almost always caused by bad naming practices

#

I cant remember if I ever used "this.", not counting "this" which is obviously needed if you need to reference the current object

fair gull
#

just do .function instead of using this Kappa

ashen spindle
#

I dont think I know what you are implying here

wheat plume
#

.function??

fair gull
#

this.function() -> .function() now ure not using this anymore

#

and you prob have a shit ton of errors

#

fixed ur code

ashen spindle
#

ok got the joke just wasnt sure

fair gull
#

@wheat plume u do yours like ure told

#

like i said not sure if ure personally into programming

wheat plume
#

Yeh...
But she said her code is shit on the last class

#

So maybe she doesn't want it this way either -.-

ashen spindle
#

well you can take the interpolated way and have it as an option, ask what she prefers and just comment the other one out?

wheat plume
#

Xdd

ashen spindle
#

assuming she can be asked and isnt giving you minuspoints for asking

fair gull
#

This feature is available starting with C# 6

wheat plume
#

She gets mad at you for not knowing the way she wants it

fair gull
#

she must be some ancient witch still coding in pre c#6 ways

wheat plume
#

"because you should have been paying attention"

#

Also
She has a famous like she always says when people gave errors in class

"But code doesn't change it's mind"

fair gull
#

i literally would have already gone mad and prob exploded into her face

#

actually most coding teachers lana has

#

they all shit

wheat plume
#

Yeah

#

Except web dev

#

She's nice

#

And the Java one we used to have

fair gull
#

is that the one i overkilled?

wheat plume
#

Yup

fair gull
#

the array lady where i never used arrays?

wheat plume
#

Yup

#

Xdd

fair gull
#

and then implemented an array and never used it

#

loved that one

#

πŸ‘

#

great waste of memory

wheat plume
#

:') that long variable name

ashen spindle
#

I dont like her bc why tf you using java

#

πŸ™‚

fair gull
#

js for life

#

better than pythong to be sure

wheat plume
#

I dont like her bc why tf you using java
@ashen spindle huh?

ashen spindle
#

go away, you js devs are the reason the internet becomes slower everyday

wheat plume
#

We are using Microsoft Java

fair gull
#

no shitty js devs are the reason the internet becomes slower

#

this is like saying "you c devs are the reason we segfault more and more each day"

ashen spindle
#

well I meant the teacher and more as a joke, i just dont see much reason to use java for anything

wheat plume
#

Minecraft

fair gull
wheat plume
#

The only significant use of Java now

ashen spindle
#

that doesn't count because you are not making something in java, you are working on an existing java project

#

I just hate how the default js websites just implement tons of dependencies and all that just to make a red square on a website when html can do the same a billion time faster

wheat plume
#

I wish they open sourced Minecraft Java edition

fair gull
#

like i said shitty js devs

ashen spindle
#

but js allows you to do it 30 seconds faster so more people do that

#

imo there is just sooo little that actually needs js for websites, I just see it as a bad perk that the internet got

fair gull
#

so we revert back to flash

#

theres a ton that both html and php cant do

#

without js wed be using flash for most of it

ashen spindle
#

you think most if not all of that could just be replaced with asm.js?

fair gull
#

could ya

#

but

#

it requires way more skill

#

#segfault

#

@digital cliff webpages with inplace updating content?

#

no i gave u an example

#

reflex

#

assumed you had knowledge

#

in this field

ashen spindle
#

Yea but then webdev salary would actually reflect the skill needed. Kappa

fair gull
#

welp salary is what it is cause everything "needs" a website

ashen spindle
#

Yea but bad websites would actually not work then and the people would not get payed for doing shit jobs

fair gull
#

the problem is that they only need to work good enough

#

if youre hiring a webdev

#

it means you have not enough skill to do it yourself

ashen spindle
#

I’d just love having websites be fast because that’s why html was made

fair gull
#

so how the shit would u check it

ashen spindle
#

Because you’d open your website and it wouldn’t work or so

fair gull
#

na u can write the most quality garbage code as long as it works u prob get paid

ashen spindle
#

Idk I just want websites to be faster and not steadily become slower unless I umatrix the shit out of everything

fair gull
#

and even then it only need to work "good" as long as u havent been paid

#

but like i said thats just shitty webdev

#

filling everything with jquery by default for smth that has public polyfills that are way faster

#

or using vue for every small colored circle

#

when u could use svgs

#

or whatever

ashen spindle
#

From my understanding of js, making working but bad js code is just worse than making working but bad html code for example for performance

fair gull
#

theres bad html?

#

what

#

tbh never even heard someone say bad html code

ashen spindle
#

That’s the joke, even bad html is good

fair gull
#

im not sure if u can do "bad" in a markup language

#

or markdown

#

it either gets interpreted by the software or printed as text

ashen spindle
#

I mean, I’m sure you can if you try hard enough

fair gull
#

theres pmuch no inbetween

ashen spindle
#

Anyway I’m just having a personal grudge on js

fair gull
#

i wish my python grudge was personal

#

sure i dont like the whitespace crap BUT

#

the fucking dumb divide between old legacy only 2.X stuff and newer tools that only work in 3.X

ashen spindle
#

We have a python dev at work and always make fun of him bc of that

fair gull
#

and then having to somehow manage both being able to be run with python and pip

ashen spindle
#

And because it’s not real programming

fair gull
#

instead of python3 and pip3

ashen spindle
#

And then say, but at least he’s not a webdev like the other guy in his office so he doesn’t feels so bad and is still half a programmer

fair gull
#

codes python
not a programmer

#

wha

ashen spindle
#

It’s just fun to annoy him with it is all :p

wheat plume
#

Nah
I just saw the update changelog

lethal wasp
#

testing the huntsman vs wooting one it could be slightly faster but nothing significant

#

surprisingly consistent results

#

I have a thicc pen across the opposing arrow keys

#

and I'm smacking that fucker hard lol

#

thank god they're pbt caps or they'd be a mess lol

#

so the minimum keypress time for the huntsman is 20ms

#

but the time to register is near instant

#

very weird

#

I don't think t's humanly possible to lift off a key in 20ms in gameplay though

#

my wooting was plugged in through my monitors usb 3.0 hub

#

because I was lazy

#

but either way it worked

ashen spindle
#

that with tachyon mode?

lethal wasp
#

yeah

#

I was worried I got low key scammed

#

this is officially an ultra low latency board

#

from razer of all people

#

I don't feel a need for more extensive testing, especially since I risk damaging key caps to achieve more credible results

#

1mm actuation vs 1.7mm tachyon iirc?

ashen spindle
#

1.5 I think?

lethal wasp
#

I think 1.5mm is manually set in non tachyon

#

not sure

fallow bison
#

1.7 is default for tachyon iirc, as that supposedly has the fastest response time, (not fully certain, though i picked that up somewhere)

ashen spindle
#

ahh right there was something like that, but I dont remember what it as

#

default setting iirc is 1.7 in wootility prob because of that

lethal wasp
#

I think 1.5mm tends to prematurely actuate anyways

#

more than the 1mm on my huntsman

#

somehow

#

might make a throwaway account and post my debounce findings on the razer subreddit

#

people will get so triggered

#

hard to say if sub 20ms key press durations are normal in gameplay or not

fickle ore
#

which one is which?

#

:E

#

if left is huntsman then its a bad board

#

1mm vs 1.7mm should equal higher difference in favour of the 1mm. And if left has over 5ms variance between attempts that means either debounce or 200hz scanning rate

lethal wasp
#

left is huntsman, I'm smashing the keys

fickle ore
#

ye 200hz scanning rate confirmed

#

rip

lethal wasp
#

I've achieved sub millisecond presses on the wooting

#

why is 200ms confirmed?

fickle ore
#

5-6ms variance between wooting and huntsman, and the wooting is controlled variable known (1khz)

#

But more likely you weren't level enough horizontally while smashing the pen over keys

lethal wasp
#

same row, both laid flat

#

pen in groove of each key

#

hit worryingly hard in the middle

#

low key karate chop

fickle ore
#

0.7 - 0.2 = 0.5ms (avg of 1khz polling rate)... 6.2 ms - 1.2 ms = 5.0ms -- either unlucky maximum of 200hz or somewhere between 125hz scanrate.. But more likely that one is just a fluke.. So redo with 20+ samples

lethal wasp
#

if I'm hitting it say 2 m/s then 0.7mm is nothing?

fickle ore
#

2m/s is 2mm/ms so yeh its nothing provided you are that fast

lethal wasp

the mortality rate isn't increasing, we just aren't testing anyone

#

look at china where it's almost over

cedar glen
#

that's all of europe tbh

lethal wasp
#

europe is highly under documented

#

it started in november

cedar glen
#

and china is shitting out fake numbers

lethal wasp
#

how long do you think it takes for someone infected to get on a plane after patient 0?

#

probably less than 2 weeks

#

it's a numbers game

cedar glen
#

depends on where patient 0 lives, if he lives in a big city I'd say 1 day

lethal wasp
#

has to become transmissible first

#

it was in a shitheap city though iirc

ashen spindle
#

just look at how much was spread in south korea by the one idiot travelling with it

lethal wasp
#

so it had to spread into the richer parts of china

#

to move international

cedar glen
#

well that was implying patient 0 is contagious

lethal wasp

well here we are lol

it's like dealing with a radiation leak at this point

completely impossible to avoid :/

I think the 5/7ms are human error

the glue moves about unevenly and it's just not OEM flush

the viper ultimate has feet that are too thin anyways

normal viper has black feet that I replaced

ashen spindle

while I do like to work with hardware I also prefer being lazy, use my mouse without having to change or disable antything on it physically

I always gravitate towards mouse skates that are unchewed gum colour

#

LET'S SEE PAUL ALLEN'S CARD

golden girder
#

@ashen spindle This is what makes the 6KRO boot interface special. An implementaion only need to look for the boot flag.

#

The report for it, which is static for all keyboards.

#

And the report for the nKRO interface, which can differ:

ashen spindle
#

ahh I think I got how it works (somewhat), previously just thought it was some physical limit remove from when people just didnt think about using multiple keys at the same time

golden girder
#

I don't have a Mac and I wouldn't buy one for myself. So I can't test it, the problem is either the nKRO, or the media keys or a combination of both.

#

In the report for the boot interface you can see that the report count values are 0, meaning a proper implementaion will ignore the data.

#

A simple implementation which can only see the boot flag can't know about the 0 length data structure, so for them they can detect the inputs.

ud need to be some master mind of technical engineering and push 6ghz on 64cores or some shit

Vsync needs to be drowned in the Nether and deleted in the next update

????? no???

#

you know the settings in the nvidia server settings? forcefullcompositepipeline?

in the 440 drivers that locks everything to 60FPS, it used to not do that before, it would leave whatever fps the system ran at

zenith sonnet
#

Vsync indroduces an uncomfortable amount of latency, in every implementation I've tested

wheat plume
#

yeah , it does

#

mostly with the mouse

zenith sonnet
#

In some games it's enough to give me migraines

Nvidia Null?

ashen spindle
#

granted this slide is about the 0 latency thing they added after amd added it

#

but still shows you want vsynch

#

its the pre-rendered frames setting

#

or low latency mode as the new ui calls it

zenith sonnet
#

You want Vsync off, VRR on, and a good framerate cap inside the VRR range

ashen spindle
#

yes, you get that framerate cap by turning v synch on

zenith sonnet
#

That's not a good cap

#

Latency-wise

#

Engine-settings are first choice, second is RTSS

ashen spindle
#

yes and v synch is usually an in-engine option

zenith sonnet
#

That's not the same as an in-engine framerate cap

#

And it has different latency

ashen spindle
#

using something like fps_max in source needs to be done differently, based on tf2 experience you dont to actually set it to your monitors rate there for example

zenith sonnet
#

141 for 144Hz displays and 58 for 60Hz displays are usually safe numbers

ashen spindle
#

I dont play it anymore so I dont think I have the settings around on my pc anymore

#

but it was like something around 101fps for 100hz, or 201 if you can reach it constantly, then similar but sometimes different limits if at a different max hz

zenith sonnet
#

That's for use with a fixed refresh rate?

ashen spindle
#

as fps_max settings

#

gsynch and freesych werent really affordable or widespread when tf2 was popular

#

also if latency in such a game matters to you you set it all to min settings so you dont really gain anything from variable refresh rates anyway

#

as they only matter if you drop below your max hz
