metro doesnt
the rest looks better
lol
i have tested metro and i think they didnt even implement rtx
just made a useless switch
which could have been done traditionally as well
in the dlc they added more RTX features, the basegame didnt have a great implementation
bright memory was prob the first game i played with damn good rtx

"PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture" is what they announced yesterday, dont watch if thats not what you want to see
Same i just wanna see the loook of itttttttttttttttttt
Might not even see that
it's gonna be like one of those ridiculous PS4 fanconcepts
OMG i wanted to see what it looks like, i wasted an hour
haha
These events are for journalists, not consumers
no not really
yea they are about equal
some will run better on one some better on the other spec is what will usually happen
in what did they win?
more flipflops
they got 12tera flipflops
imagine all the socks u can wear in those flipflops
darn thats a lot of socks
same
redstone flipflops
especially if we do really get a weaker and cheaper xbox variant
like windows will just force some dumb dashboard crap onto people again with tons of windows functions
and sony will just use almost bare linux kernels
this will be xbox360 vs ps3 and xbox one vs ps4 all over again
so?
variable frequency on the ps5 is kind of interesting
Shit people care about
guess what, this was a tech deep dive not ps5 reveal
so you're comparing apples to oranges
if it works like the regular boost on amd ln2 would allow a good performance uplist
like dont get me wrong... the specs might be better but windows will fuck up the OS of the console
based off these 2
sorry but being excited for a console rather than the games on it is stupid to me
Hardly
og xbox was a hell of a lot faster than the competition so that certainly helped
For me i find it very fun to see whats "next gen"
I probably will never buy either one of them as I don't have a use for a console next to my pc
Even if i dont intend to invest in it
ok sure in the sense that you can expect from from the titles on it, but you literally cant tell what the performance of xbox vs ps5 will be
@wheat plume the xbox 360 isnt windows based
the og xbox is pmuch just windows
and the xbox one series is heavily modified
hmmm
they still fucked up the 360
dw
in og xbox they pmuch just modified how logs are printed
og xbox had the option of running on windows itself but also had some optimized variant most games actually used.
So, we all know mor abotu eardrums at least!
kernel and os are different though
then they made win10 and thought lets just use that for our xbox one
I would argue desktop linux and android are not the same os
and then they really fucked up
@thick elk console pmuch just run the kernel and a so called dashboard
I find it interesting how you can use apt in termux on android
thats pmuch all consoles
well, its called pkg on termux but its the same interface is apt
i mean they are all linux based
u can use apt in pmuch all linux based distros
🤔
Advanced Package Tool, or APT, is a free-software user interface that works with core libraries to handle the installation and removal of software on Debian, Ubuntu, and related Linux distributions.
u can prob compile it on any distro
hmm possibly
Nitrux managed to get pacman working on Ubuntu base
yeah.....its ubuntu based, uses pacman as its package manager but the app store is just appimages
strange combination
oh, also, with the specs being that close, xbox easily loses if that rumoured lower spec xbox is a real thing
bc games will be optimized for that and not the higher end version
Except games on the xbox are supposed to be compatible with pc's more often now, so surely they would scale up then
no that doesn't quite work like that sadly
why the hell would you want to use pacman on Ubunut? x3
also... I've become used to gaming on Xbox > PC
Free games... ABSOLUTELY
not free --> Xbox
plus I dont have to spent $1400 every 8-14 months for new GPU's
you can build a pc for less that works for years...
who spends 1400 on a GPU?
yeah...
Like my PC Quin, its shit but it lasted for many years until it was broken
^^
imagine thinking a pc that's as strong as a console costs thousands because you base your comparison on the strongest gpu on the market
smh
judging by the very limited numbers the gpu on the PS5 looks like it's about the level of a 5600 xt at best
that's not a 1400$ gpu
nah, rdna2 is quite a jump over rdna1
of course we'd need actual details on the parts
also console gets hardcore optimization much easier since you target one specific spec
it'll be impossible to really know how it holds up until it's out
yeah that part is fair enough
but still you can't compare it to 1400$ gpu lmao
else they'd have to sell their console for more than 1400$
yeah bloodborne was definitely made for the ps4 pro
well yeah but gears 5 doesn't work at ultra graphics on console
its not gonna beat a 2080ti but people will be surprised by how good the console gpus will be
people said the same about last gen yet it was already miles behind pc after some time
yeah
last gen
current gen is xbox one and ps4
yeah jaguar wasn't something where we saw a new uArch for graphics that sounded extremely promising
once again I'm talking about the xbox 360 and ps3
aka last gen
pretty sure jaguar is the xbox one x/ps4
right, 360 was still ATI time, same applies though, not an anticipated new uArch
with rdna2 we have big navi following it closely which is gonna be quite a good competition in the high end for once
well if it can drive down medium end prices more I'd be happy
don't care about high end in of itself, not like I can afford it

well competition in high end always ends up benefiting every category, just in varying ammounts
I think nvidia is in a similar position intel is, just in less extreme ways
amd will be very competetive with rdna2 this year
but ampere will be a bit ahead, but not as much as it used to be
so there's a good chance nvidia will try to match amd's yearly cadence so we see iterations come out faster
instead of a launch and the super version the year later and then a new gen
2080 super ti xXx edition when
bc unlike intel, nvidias seems to be awake and not sitting around until everything burns down
nvidia's marketing strategy has been to lie on the fact that AMD had no competition to them since the vega days, despite the vega 64 actually being able to catch up to the 1070 ti easily back then
well jensen founded nvidia because he realized gaming was going to be a big market, so it makes sense he is keeping his eye for new markets and gets in there early
sure but vega only got close, and that at a gigantic power efficiency deficit, now with a gigantic node advantage they still lack in power
and since there isn't a 3rd potential player (well mayyyyyyybe intel now) in the gpu market, it's good that amd is coming back and that nvidia is not like intel, taking till 23 to be competetive again
exciting years ahead
eh idk enough to know if that would really be better
no I mean I know about that, but I dont know if that would be good for pc gaming
wait why does it matter for gpu pcb what side is up
Please do - Because I fully fail to see your point. In cases where the GPU is in a separate chamber, their design is still as optimal as you can get airwise.
width/length I would get maybe but I cant think of why orientation would matter
ahh so more about soldering issue and that type rather than actual pcb layout
ok I can see that
Card... bend is not really an issue though
I have seen maybe ONE PC in all of my time as a techie with a bent PCI-E slot.
ONE
I have - never - seen that.
And I have some bulky old cards on hand.
that looks funny
ok, what are some good tech focused youtube channels people would recommend? I feel like I have to be missing some good channels
preferebly on levels like digital foundry/gamersnexus/ahoc
@reef patrol I have 48 GiB RAM total and I'm still only 'high end'
Aside from the cooling meme
So...
They can fit a 52 CU 3328 Shader RDNA2 GPU into an 360mm² APU
And RDNA2 can run at 2.23GHz in an APU
I think that all makes hope for decent desktop GPUs later this year
while big navi should be quite a nice card, we can't really extrapolate any info from the console apus
afaik we dont really know the structure of the CUs yet so we dont know how they scale as in how many you can put on a card, after all cgn always had a hard limit for them
and the (up to) 2.2ghz is also at 36CU's and while that is impressive, we dont know how high you can push >=52
I doubt thermals or power are the limiting factors here
most of the power/thermal budget in consoles does go towards the graphics part
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2020/03/the-windows-subsystem-for-linux-conference-was-a-virtual-success/ nice easy article to show people what the linux on windows is for
well, read the article :p
but sure that is one part but it does have more benefits
Pixel 4 os Android 11 Gsi Android 11 R Rom Finally we have full release of Android 11 GSI Full Step by Step Guide How to install android 11 Android R
How to iNSTALL ANDROID 11 IN ANY ANDROID PHONE We will install android R in any phone via gsi what is Gsi ? A generic system im...
meanwhile I'm over here still waiting for the only android 10 rom for my device to go public
what rom? what device? :O
yeah they released a buggy kernel
🤔
what u thonking for
maybe there will be a telegram group for your phone
thats how I keep track of all the roms and kernels for mine
and what firmware to use with each update etc
nah
there's 4 devs
3 of which retired and changed their phones
the phone never really caught on, as it had the same specs exactly as the pixel 2 and the S8 family
down to the same camera sensor, iirc
was much cheaper and didn't have the useless large screen gimmick tho
so I went for it
not regretting it, when I see how shit the S8s are
Yeah, I avoid Samsung
I've yet to see a single S8 without burn in issues
eh the software I don't mind, there's always roms
the UI seems heavy and clunky
There is not much roms for Samsung phones, its hard to unlock them due to Knox
is it? I saw a lot of activity on the s8 dev forum tbh
but didn't look too close
I would've gotten the pixel but I got this one new for 200 euros one year after release
from dubai
it was a no brainer
Id need to look into it, i think it mostly affects America where if you buy it from a carrier it is not possible to unlock the bootloader
also I think Knox does affect unlocking
I rooted my s7, you can root international models but not USA ones
I imagine the same applies to other samsungs
strong avoid samsungs though, something is fucked with the frame pacing when scrolling through literally anything
everything is so juddery
nothings jittery for me
in fact this might be smoother than my pc
or at least it feels smoother
pulling down notifications feels ok but anything else is really gross
I knew it wasnt just my eyes being used to 120hz because I used the frsmetime graph thing in developer options and it was all over the place
on like 3 different roms
tbh you can't root US HTC U11 models either
and not just the ones sold by sprint and other thieves
@feral tinsel for me everything is smooth
I have a 120hz laptop and its insanely blurry
I cant get one even if I want one, my PC is too shit to even handle 60FPS
american society is driven by debt
Is that why they're telling jesus to take the wheel?
but I couldn't live without gsync
I have most things limited to 60fps, I just like not having to worry about screen tear and input lag
ew
prebuilt is currently cheaper than custom tbh
???
and by a large m- ninja'd
@ashen spindle a prebuilt costing 750 euros costs you around 1000 euros in france if you buy the parts only
of course you'd sometimes get a bad mobo but at that price you can just add a solid b450
im not believing that untill you give me a link that isnt some store closing and getting rid of storage
it's even better when there's sales
what was the price for that?
well mobile gpus dont really have an msrp so hard to say
but still, seems like a decent deal but nothing amazing especially since psu and mobo are not known
im all for saving as much as possible, but saving in the wrong places like PSU just something that only saves you money in the short term not in the long run
In general expect the following from that build: single channel memory on ryzen, propriatary motherboard and psu. No room for upgrading to a decent gpu, cpu stock at mostly base clock
oh right forgot its probably not 2x4 there
we checked specs for alienware at work last week for fun, to go from 6 to 32 gb ram you had to add 550euro on a ryzen system, and it was only a 2600 kit
dell is just expensive
Even on laptops I generally buy the cheapest option in terms of ram and storage and upgrade myself.
Of course looking out for laptops where I can
Even if you don't overpay you may just end up with silly single channel setups
because having a bit cheaper missmatched memory upgrades is a better option then getting the performance benefits of dual channel
had a bit of an annoying time finding the exact same parts but here, basically I took this prebuilt pc offer on dubaro : https://www.dubaro.de/GAMING-PC/Gamer-PC-XL-Ryzen-5-3600X-mit-RTX2080Super::3314.html
And modified it a bit to get the same parts I'd find in France on their own
prebuilt price :
Well things have not been fixed in that long so still a valid point of critique
nothing at all wrong here 🤔
parts price on materiel.net :
that's without looking at OEM prebuilts
@prisma crag 4x2GB kit

I don't know if those exist on ddr4
@ashen spindle alienware (and dell overall) is a ripoff anyway, it's like Apple for pc people
yup
anyway there's your example and links, quintosh
price parts in france and germany are a bit dumb atm
yeah I just put the same stuff on pcpartpicker and got it for 50euro less
no not really
but the price disrepancy that originated from it IS still a thing, however
yeah US power bills are so low they almost are as much as what I used to pay in a third world country
Hawaii has high energy prices? Ironic.
which is 8 cents per kwh
They could literally plop down a windmill park
https://i.gyazo.com/d87c5ce09f0ff14c0ed0af8495bc29ae.png for the exact parts in your config Pop
vs the 1678 of the prebuilt
do they deliver to france tho, quintosh
that's what you're forgetting here
I can't buy from mindfactory
¯_(ツ)_/¯
no not really, I can just switch the toggle on top and have parts from france vendors and the price goes like 50 bucks up
huh
that's lower than expected
would have to check which vendors it'd recommend tho
inb4 shady marketplace vendors on ebay and amazon
https://i.gyazo.com/d2343b9a49f5b3f469cb493a30c3b2b8.png idk french vendors so here
If only there was some way to acquire technology from others through the act of barter.
also this is for a 1to1 comparison, if you consider a custom build you'd obviously not get the exact same parts if you get basically the same ssd from another vendor for less money, so you could save more
Denmark - Tiny nation currently outputs over 5GW from wind alone.
well cdiscount is legit
although you'd better hope you NEVER get to deal with their aftersales service
amazon, as long as it's sold by them and not on the marketplace that's fair
yeah I think pcpartpicker only shows listings by amazon itself as an option
also don't forget if you go price hunting for which company sells what part for 5 euro less during a sale, you'd have to factor in shipping costs from ordering from each vendor separately
well, pcpartpicker adds shipping cost for every item, so it's usually a bit cheaper if you have 2+ from the same site
Btw coronavirus in france means no shipping costs at the moment
They really tryna sell their shit
It's actually maddening
anyway, pre builds did get a lot better but you still dont really have "better" deals aside from convenience if you're not a tech person
I'd still go for parts overall tbh, despite that price tag
For one simple reason : rma
yeah rebates arent really a thing here
yeah seems like aids
like 10$ less after the msrp gets increased by 10$ deals
Looks toasty
You know you can get a much much much cheaper toaster from your local store right?
Microsoft® DirectX® Raytracing (DXR) adds a new level of graphics realism to video games previously only available in movies, and AMD has collaborated with Microsoft on the design of DXR 1.1, an update to DXR that can deliver better efficiency and performance in many raytracin...
DirectX 12 ULTIMATE
There a big dude
idk, did you hit update?
y tho
don't use surface wipes on your mousepad, it slowly leaves residue that fucks the glide up until you reclean it with plain water or a tiny bit of dish soap 🤷♀️
thought my mousefeet were dogshit, turned out it was that
I just handwash mine. Benefits of thick cloth and foam pads 😄
i never clean mine
I keep mine prestine
dont have mouse feet either
atleast I know you're trolling now
literally not trolling
what's wrong with you? :/
just why
one of the biggest mouse skate manufacturers is in germany
and they have basically everything
is that a g100?
ye
s
rip not rounded
would recommend getting ms3
these
I'm sure viper ultimate skates arn't pure ptfe
they are very light grey
not bright white
they are 99.925 apparently
can easily tell the difference :/
bright white is no sign of PTFE
that is a sign of PTFE with titanium oxide
not smoothly though
lol
I know the type lol
yea
and what do i need a 2billion USD mouse for if i mainly code
for games, mouse is much more important
i rarely game and if i do its not on any professional level
I still would want smooth mouse feet
because nice tools make everything better
true that
and mice are a much cheaper hobby
that's why I always use my own knives
still wont invest much into a mouse
yea
viper mini is probably ideal for you
nah
id only buy a new mouse for 30€ max
too small for most
not from what I've heard?
and shape should be the g100s
really?
you seen the website that compares it?
I used to use g100 for a long time
i will keep this g100s alive as long as i need to
I cut crosshatching into the sides
g305 is roughly the same dimensions as a g100
yea it is a good shape for sure
iirc
until i find a nice normal mouse with the same shape for 30€ or less
the g100s isnt perfect anyway it has the dumb dpi switch button
comfort grooves though
desoldered it
and GOOD build quality
how much moneys
cause it is a rebranded korean mouse
not sold anymore unfortuantley
has a 3090, so that was like 5-10 years ago
bit wider i'd say
the mini or aurora?
the zalman also has dumb dpi button
why tho
you asked for it
i just want a normal left, right and wheel mouse
isn't there old g100s knocking about?
?
ye but not gross
worse skates and cable
and torn apart
inb4 your pad low key ground zero for covid lol
do you expect him to use a pad lol
he said he does
yes
i will buy a desk matt tho
oh god no
cause
ye
just feels nicer
it's a desk pad

says the guy that thought about going threadripper for the fun of it
amazing
anyone who buys before zen 3 rn is actually retarded
maybe even 2 quadro rtx 8000
not going to be ages
anyway
it's this year
i just dont feel comfortable with most mice that arent a g100s shape
thats why i have it
I doubt they can rival the 1600AF in price/performance lol
yea g100 shape is great
too bad logitech forgot how to make shapes
mx300 remake when
they never knew how lol
g400, g500
were popular shapes
for the morbidly obese and sensor chasers maybe
human hands > zowie/razer
g500 was what I had first and it took me a while to get used to something else after it broke
last year?
when did they stop
deathadder is legendary for a reason
outletpc
deathadder is legendary microsoft intellimouse 3.0 clone lol
yet which one has more notoriety?
?
the deathadder is an iteration
sad
there is no question about it
Taking a picture with your phone
people stopped jerking off over intellimouse a decade ago
I’m so disappointed in you
@pale sigil at work bra
they still do now lol
not logged in
yeah and they have terminal asburgers like r0ach lol
and when did people that know shit about mice do that with the deathadder?
when it became light?
it's been at the forefront of CS in every iteration lol
which came out much later and (had?) dogshit internals
slightly smoothed out design of same mouse
takes note to self to check back in 60 minutes to this channel to see if the two people reached a conclusion
I've had twice as many logi mice vs razer
only 10 second summaries from memory over the past decade but w.e
I know but it's aids post w7
and even then
unless you're high sens it's still useless
so I'm very demanding for PCS
when OCed
it's 2020
who cares about mice that aren't being made anymore?
thanks to razer sensor development is stopped anyways
there's a range of top tier mice now
you mean dpi increases are stopped
and where exactly can sensors go now
that stopped both
they track perfectly like 5-10x faster than humans can move their arm
because without more dpi you wouldn't have a marketing point anymore
yea that is why the 3335 is the only reasonable choice for everyone but razer atm
3389?
so there's two options
so viable for wireless mice
3335, hero and focus+
what else?
why remove 3389
unless razer asks for it
no one else is making wireless mice
then it becomes focus+ (or whatever it's name will be), Hero and the new razer one
well they should
so power consumption isn't relevant
everyone is looking into it atm
what's the deal with mouse feet anyways
?
the grey vs bright white virgin grade ones
but why are they almost always faster?
virgin grade PTFE is fairly transparent
might be other impurities
or the titanium oxide being hard and because of that reducing friction
not too sure
atm pixart is basically bound by contract to not release new sensors
there's tiger gaming arc and arc 2
look very different
yea ik
from everything I have heard arc 1 feels nicer though
ok this is actually so sick https://i.redd.it/14m6sowd0gm41.jpg
first post I've seen that's actually like wow
is that just a recolored finalmouse?
not sure
they've done a hella good job though
unless it's part binned or something lol
i don't follow finalmeme
yeah I wish they'd just make good mice and not have the PR person trip on acid 24/7
at least they did spread their memes quite a bit so I think they are part of why other mouse makers started with lighter mice and I appreciate that I think
becoming a traitor soon and getting a huntsman TE
rip
when optical/hall effect becomes decently supported I'll build my own keeb finally
I like their new design language and want to try a different optical switch
got nostalgia vibes from having a razer mouse
also proper software support
the wootility is still so far behind even a year or so later
and I get why
but y'know
analog isn't what I thought it would be
I was anticipating proper support from devs or w/e and for it to just work
I can't stand setting up multiple keybindings
and not knowing if/why they work/don't work
I just want a 0 debounce linear keeb without pinging lol
I'm sure the huntsman will ping too, but it will be subjectively different
don't like disassembling plastic chassis
idk wtf that messages means TBH
nylon threads don't last forever
half the screws feel like they are cosmetic at this point already
I've opened it a few times
I filled it with silicone remember?
I wanted to move it into a metal housing etc
but no one more experienced has even thought about it
this is linear optical
but in el cheapo housing that I can't see how to mod out of
I dont think you want metal anywhere if you want to reduce pinging
when it's thick enough it doesn't resonate
I'm p sure
besides
I can mod the wooting with the razer as my main
instead of having no keyboard
switch lubing etc
I have gold springs coming some day
but sprit is a borderline con artist
and everyone is busy dying
so god knows what parts I'll see arrive
you'll prob never get a guarantee how fast that razer board scans at
using that scanrate estimator? It's only estimating the best case. Even 125hz scanrate would give you a best case of 1ms when the stars align
Do as you want
I even bought the wrist rest lol
which I will probably still use
my biggest issue with keyboards was out dated tech
now optical is becoming mainstream
It's just checking out Windows insider builds when they updating Xinput etc for better analog support I guess
Wooting is not outdated lol
oh sorry
Windows will update Xinput/Dinput in couple years prob
uh oh better add software delays to fix it (debounce)
also adds more resistance into the switch
ye
Im sure the wooting guys are first to update their software.. Their software support is much better than some random brand
in a non puke colour too
with razer u need new keyboard for new features lol
Same Tinho
How about chrome TKL?
options are good
metal paint ;p
don't dictate subjective polarising colourways
I'm paying for keycaps I don't want at that point
for no reason
I'm not a charity
I'm a consumer
yes
then sell me black keycaps on the board
you're fighting their corner so you've getting the equivocal response
gib lekker TKL with Topre Thock plz
you asked after all
hey vantavimeow
I buy black keeb, no problem
got a question
Is Intel + hyperthreading still fucked up, giving high nvidia latency??
no clue
last time I checked was couple years ago
leaving overclock.net was the best thing I ever did
I dont post anymore either much
it's a sess pit of people making up hardware excuses for their trash genetics
not having an 8k scanrate mouse wheel isn't why you're trash
that is really a thing btw
ik, in astrum
I'm one of the idiots that backed it
because it was the first optical switch mouse with a real sensor
0.5/1ms is the cut off point for me
But my question was more related to uhh.. Yeah prob staying on AMD for future aswell.. Thought u might know with latest Nvidia gen
If u had nvidia 2xxx
I've had a better time with nvidia than amd
I always get burnt when I give amd a chance
I'm not even playing anything that needs fast response anymore but Im still interested in the topic and very interested to try out to see whether I can see/feel a diff.
Yea
mm
Probbaly getting RDNA2 if its good
Nvidia will be better I think but maybe amd can price it well
@fickle ore should still be fucked
zen 3 is destined to be well over 15% ipc improvement iirc
last information I have is ~one year old though
also zen 2 frame pacing is way better
Yea zen2 was a bit disappointed cause it was advertized as 5ghz
Zen3 is deffo upgrade
zen 3 should be what zen 2 was supposed to be
also don't sleep on low latency ram
biggest mistake people make
cucking their ipc with slow ram
instructions per clock
it's like
base cpu speed
in a way
4ghz isn't just 4ghz
IPC/IPS x clock speed = CPU performance basically
that's why amd has been so gash
zen2 was never advertised as 5ghz, that was rumours only
for years
too bad I don't need a gpu atm
Just w8 for RDNA2 its soooon
also with lag on intel ht + nvidia is this the same dumb topic again, where it's adding nanosecond delay only?
its not nanosecond lool
so not an upgrade either way
yes thats why its dumb the last 50 times people talked about it here
you basically don't get every second instruction
unless this is something else
Im done preaching for heretics :c
the problem is that it just is because the drivers were never optimized for HT
okay, then can anyone link to whatever this about then?
No
so it doesnt exist then, kk
I know it from people that found it themselves
Yama, it's because NVIDIA drivers are multithreaded vs AMD's singlethreaded driver design, the latency between virtual and logical cores due to HT design on Intel. I'm not sure about AMD at all anymore, because I dont own AMD processor
I just remember that topic coming up here like 5 or 6 times and it always ended with linking to an nvidia forum post about it, where the guy said he found single digit nanosecond delay in his linux kernel thing
so if there is something else I'd gladly read about it
Yea I used to talk about it here a couple times before with another username
so it is the thing that is actually so low in delay it doesnt matter aside from benchmarking delay tests?
If you optimize for latency you disable hyperthreading anyway
got an 8600k so it doesnt affect me anyway lul
save us Jim Keller-Kenobi
Nvidia driver basically makes your CPU OVERALL SYSTEM interrupt latency go from 3us to 300us.. 100x decrease in system performance over a driver but whatever, not a biggie
for a stupid problem
0.3ms is kinda big in computing numbers
not related to gaming though, at least not yet
imagine if your ram had not access latency of 30-60ns, but 300us?
you'd go back a few decades in performance
the thing is
it just get's harder to fix
if they don't fix it soon you may have to wait until they completely redo their drivers
when Nvidia redid their drivers last time?
but unlike ram this is not affecting your other components performance, this is basically just adding .3ms to the total delay from rendering and displaying the image to reacting and recieving the input, right?
and in that chain it should be an amount that is not making a difference
RDNA2 is starting to look pretty good
Might finally find a worthwhile upgrade later this year
lol
Well you know interrupt service handles all interrupts and drivers on the PC, including things like SSD drivers, dxgkrnl, audio, tcp, NDIS, usb, etc etc
I reused my GPUs
300us interrupt latency on PCIE ssd would fuck up it's access latency if it work like that
yes but that's an additive delay in the chain, it's not multiplicative like ram access timing making every single instruction slower right?
no
Idk how SSD work. Idk if they need to constantly access new locations when loading game world
if so then its bottlenecked by the interrupt delay
between every access they need to do
but unless you're in a loading screen you dont load new stuff every frame, what's being used is in cache and if not instantly reused it still is left in L2/L3 cache for some time before it goes out and needs to be read again
True. But game "starting" time benchmarks have been long bottlenecked by something
its not linear progression like other file benchmarks
I don't really care either way Ill just stick to AMD
Starting times and loading screens got significantly faster for me on the new rig
so basically this would only sometimes affect loading times of new objects, and I really dont care if you take 10 interrupts, thats still only 3ms on a loading that takes more than a frame anyway
yes new hardware usually does make things faster
U cant store big open world games on a processor's cache, it's coming fully from your SSD afaik
I had a game that was loading a few GB's on each zone-in
ok but then we are talking not about object loading but storing big areas that gets loaded into ram/vram, so definitely not a process where <1ms of anything has an effect, when it takes multiple frames
But remember that everything happens simultaneously for audio, usb, network (if online game), graphics.
I'm not sure if interrupt handling is multithreaded or can it only handle single interrupt for a single instance in a CPU cycle
yes it interrupts the one thread it works on, can't really work otherwise
That's enough for me to stay on AMD. No wonder people say AMD feels smoother ingame without microstutters
wait what
I mean I have heard the opposite
tino if you just contribute "well basically I dont care" it's not really helpful to understanding how it works
And there's the argument that Nvidia gets better FPS per TF by reducing image quality. A little here, a little there goes a long way...
okay so you are contributing nothing to us trying to figure out how it actually affects stuff
But at least they're mostly subtle enough about it
Gamers Nexus reviews show AMD isn't really better at maintaining a consistent frame time. It's a toss up.
And Radeon Boost makes it 10x worse for stutters, even if it's better for average FPS.
Well it's been tested during ZEN launch that AMD has better min.frame times vs higher avg on intel.. Min. frame times is correlated exactly with microstutters or microfreezes
Ah, processor-wise... Yeah, AMD wins hands down there. In the GPU area, not so much.
It's their dynamic upsampling thing.
also I think you misunderstood what I said nagga, I meant it only interrupts the one thread it works on, but NOT the other threads handling audio etc.
Alright
I still prefer AMD GPU and Intel CPU because, well, compat reasons for software I run.
@digital cliff Radeon Boost is on the fly image quality reduction in the peripheral vision or during motion to achieve better FPS
Anti-Lag is the lower latency thing
Well, it's the whole frame, not in peripheral vision.
so radeon boost is just variable rate shading
A more crude version that works with older stuff
Nah, VRS isn't in any released AMD cards yet.
okay, it's budget-VRS then
Doesn't it work through the driver?
I wanna install Windows 10 1909 for Hardware scheduling 😦 but to lazy to backup shit
Glad I did it 😄
Not sure where to look for a difference, but it works like a charm
boost only works on support games too, not general stuff
Or keep all your stuff on a personally-hosted server or GitHub.
I'm talking about code... Which is most of my important stuff.
Savegames/Games -> Steam does that for me.
Sure, if you value frame-time over all else.
But in a lot of cases, visual quality can also give a competitive edge.
Meanwhile I modded Skyrim to the point where it needs over 13 GiB of vram
Curiously I still get 140 FPS most places, with drops to 100 sometimes
speaking of, 16gb for the new consoles is a joke, that will be what will hold them back the most in the coming years
could go a bit more hardcore and use RenderDoc to try and poke around and see what you can find
Maybe I can shave off a GiB or so by doing LOD at a lower setting
well ever since rtx I realized how old the tech is, since we are basically stuck using polygons/triangle forever probably
well does amd failing to make it popular count as it existing?
I wish it saw more use 😦
nah sony is good at pushing stuff like that, it'll just be a bit longer for non first party titles to include is I bet
also devs know ps5 is the winning console so they'll put more time into it
pretty much unless ms change something drasticly
xbox series x
xboxsex if you want one funny short for it
ps5 is the better package
it's not burning garbage but it just isn't winning the console war cs sony
ew
would also sound bad when you in 2022 want to but a xbox (2020)
yea not a naming fan of that
That moment when LG want all their phones to have a Android 10 by 2021
The XSX got a 50% larger GPU
you know what, it doesnt even matter
bc microsoft said for now there will be no exclusives on series x, the games will also run on one x
so another reason they will fail is that new games need to work on older xbox too
that means they wont have hardcore optimization for series x, unlike ps5 will have
ryzen 4000 laptops should be good for that segment

it's also because it's really just free pr at this point, the sales of any of these games is not going to be great on pc relatively
bloodborne pc port/demon souls pc remake might be the only exception there
like if they announce demon souls remaster for ps5 I would suddenly be interrested in a ps5
pc version would be 20/10 but that aint happening
I want a good Unreal engine game using raytracing on either console, so the rt implementation will be more widely availible for non AAA studios
dont know what japanes estudio is using unreal
but if they push a ps5 game I could see sony/epic helping there
I got bribed again for a 5 star review
100% free for me
😄
dont know dont care
all i know is i have had loads of free shit off em
screenshotted and reported
hold up
tbh the products are great
i love em
ive bought stuff from them ofc
its chinese
it's the software that's usually total ass
whats their "app" called
i think its either an open source one or bought
because they all look similar
its meross
lol yea you dont even have to use it
i have led strips that use something called gofusu or something
but it works with my feit electric app
i have google home, but the gh app sucks for controlling lighting unless you use voice
their color pallet in the app is retarded. doesnt even have "red"
or "white"
but they've got things like "ivory" and "crimson" which are off by just enough to be irritating
i have it all over my house and love it
and their security cameras
thermostat
¯_(ツ)_/¯
which app is this
meross
yea my lighting app has the same thing more or less
i have a spare bulb now
guess ill use it elseware
because my lamp doesn't support the same socket
i only have two smart bulbs, and they're both in pedestal lamps
the rest of my lights i control via the switch itself
Also i wasn't srious with the bribing, they heeavily suggest reviewing the product after "testing" it
you actually thought i reported you lul
i dont have time for that shit
jokes on you, I have time for that
