didn't you have a shidenkai before?
Yeah
mayeb try something like an allsop raindrop, hyperx fury speed s or mionix alioth
what makes you switch to the zero lol
I've an issue...
Where I involuntarily move the mouse when clicking because I seem to click with slight lateral force
So I need something just a notch slower
Not that I don't love the Shidenkai
But it worked much better for me with the G600
The thing with the huge bum-cave
Even Mindfactory seemed to only have gotten about 90 3950X CPUs for the launch
Newegg had already sold out in the US before 9am
@zenith sonnet the zero is more than just a notch slower
it is the slowest pad they sell
Is it?
Didn't feel that slow to me
Maybe it's just right, though
Given how high sens I use
voltage? yes
though newer bios versions made it happen less often. did you update bios?
This is a new build I’ve done
I’m going to update the bios soon
Just installing stuff
I know hence I asked if the bios was updated or might still be an older one :p
And yes, it's normal
Happens usually during low load
Kinda sad about how little Black Friday deals there are that are actual sales, genuinely hoped I’d at least find like 20€ off on a not crap ssd
Oh
Right
Ordered stuff today
Saved 50€ in the Mobo, RAM and CPU due to deals
@ashen spindle Look at the XPG SX8200 Pro
Only thing missing are the PSUs
And watercooling parts
The case is on backorder until Christmas 😦
that one does look nice, though its only like 10 less than the samsung I found
meh
maybe I'll find something on friday
im also very confused at your psu
I'd get one for like 100 less and a 3800x instead or so
I'll sell the 3700X next year and get a Zen 3 CPU
Thought it'd probably have the best resale value
I mean a 3800x will sell for more than a 3700x lmao
yes so save the difference by getting a not stupidly expensive psu
you plan on using dry ice cooling for your cpu or what
Nah, why?
because without exactly knowing the powerdraw of a 7 I'd estimate 550W psu would suffice
It's probably the second best on the market though
yeah or you pay sub 100 for a platinum rated one
Well, there's a 650W version that's 60€ cheaper
But didn't do exactly as well in tests
https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/seasonic+focus+plus+platinum+650w+pc+netzteil?nbb=45c48c and thats 130 saved
So I guess they cheaped out on something
For that money I could get a Prime Ultra Platinum 650W
550w version is like 95 at mindfactory
and I think that's enough but would need to double check that gpu's powerdraw
got 550 for my 8600k and 1080 and thats easily enough
The GPU is 240W average in Witcher 3, peak should be around 300-320W
yeah definitely is enough then lmao
I don't even
What?
So you got a new system for your friend, and one for yourself?
Cause I'm a bit confused
Built one for my friend
His face lit up haha
When first playing a game
And not having it take forever to load and run like shit
Who I was talking about the other day was my other friend
Bit disappointed with the GPU cable
Isn’t as nice as others sadly
I need to make a list of watercooling parts I'm gonna need next
@reef patrol You know about the NEXT Kryos CPU blocks? Think they're good?
Not a clue - I am 100% consumer when it comes to loops. I'd ask in the EK general chat for opinions. It looks nifty though
😦
He got 2 codes and I was excited I might get bl3
But second code was for Xbox game pass 😭😭😭
GPU cable? whats that?
Probably hdmi or power supply
or displayport? :p
... sli bridge?

In April, Mark Cenry mentioned to Wired that PS5 will use a new advanced SSD technology that will be customized to provide access speeds that are higher than anything currently avaiable on the PC market. In the months after that, AMD introduced PCIe Gen4 to PC users, boosting SSD speeds from ~3GB/s to ~5GB/s [and above for RAID solutions]. Many have believed that Sony would use some version of this traditional NAND tech, only optimized for faster use and smaller CPU overhead.
But now, Sony has detailed their new big persistent memory technology push that aims to become direct competitor in to Intel's Optane. They call it Cross Point ReRAM, and they are accelerating to deliver it to market in 2020. Advantage of ReRAM is ability to become cheaper with smaller process nodes [Optane will not be easy beyond 14nm], faster speeds than NAND, less power and heat than NAND, etc. They are focusing a lot of their efforts on making a smart and low-power controller for this type of drive.
Target specs:
128GB drive [8 x 16GB] - 25.6 GB/s read, 9.6 GB/s write, PCIe gen5 x8, target wattage 14.6W+
256GB drive [16 x 16GB] - 51.2 GB/s read, 19.2 GB/s write, PCIe gen5 x16, target wattage 27.2W+
I want to believe
I hope not. It makes third party drivessuch a pain, if they get away with that cartridge format.
the question now is: why
It sounds like an existing SSD tech, which is Single Layer Chips, and is extraordinarily expensive and difficult to produce.
Well, guess they need selling points vs. the XBox
single layer cells*
or single level cell depending on what u prefer
i mean just buy a Nimbus Data DC100
those have like 75PB of writes
wattage seems.. high? 😮
Pcie 5 when that spec wasn’t finalized when they announced the fast ssd? Doubt it
The toughest question yet ._.
oof
what am i looking at
- i have no idea >.>
Sounds lame
The EK-Classic Distroplate Front PC-O11D SPC PWM D-RGB - Plexi, is specifically designed to provide a comprehensive water cooling solution for the most popular water cooling case on the market, the Lian Li PC-O11D. It embodies the EK-Classic ideals of budget-conscious SPC pum...
It's pumps/reservoirs
". It embodies the EK-Classic ideals of budget-conscious" .... lolwhut?
what are you doing with it?
depends on end-user doesn't it
XD
so i would just run a 50a breaker over a few feet
but i need a larger box, because my existing one is full
Hrm
so i'm looking at a bigger main box and a sub box
cause i need an air compressor at some point as well
Well, it's not cheap, that's for sure
for a zero maintenance vehicle it's more of a long-term payoff
huh
I remember installing PCIe 1.0 boards and being impressed by the bus speeds
5 is being talked about already :p
spec is finished at least
Zen 5 on AM5 with DDR5 and PCIe 5 on 5nm
Calling it now
Xeanoa: You are going all out ey
5.5.22 (those are backwards fives)
🤔
bigbrain
It'd be hilarious and glorious
I can already imagine the trailer
with all the am5 pcie 5 etc stuff being diplayed and slowly fading out
with only the 5 remaining
and then turning to 5.5.2022
It'd be such a waste to not use the opportunity

Now I have 3 SSDs idk what to do with
Samsung 850 250gb, Sandisk 500gb and Sandisk 250gb
Getting out of hand
That’s... a good idea.
Have the perfect person
Also just found this lol
Lol
Charge your phone
The phone didn't deserve the charge
Good point
Just ordered a SX8200 Pro 0,5TB for 68€
Supposedly it's at least on par with the 970 Evo, but a lot cheaper
I wouldn't worry about lifetime, ever
You can't wear out SSDs with normal use
But I also wouldn't buy crappy SSDs
Yea unlikely that a decent one will likely last until your next upgrade
But samsung always showed they were more than just a notch above in longevity
They did say something about an SSD that never dies...
Well
I know that it will die at some point
But in a few years they could probably outlive you
Even with the very earliest consumer ssds they were way ahead their time
@zenith sonnet this is what I’m considering
But atm there’s these 2 good offers
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB M.2 Gaming Solid State Drive (SSD), black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07K1J3C23/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_5qP3DbD3R6FYB
Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-1TB) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07LGF54XR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_UvP3Db7YNM4DT
Rocket seems like a better choice but unsure
As there’s rumours floating around
Cos of one reviewer
On US
I heard things about them going out of production, but I dunno
If there is a speed difference, i dont think you'll notice it much
seems pricy for 1TB 😛
NVMe, no it’s not
It's really not
my intel 660p is doing fine
waaaat
There is one place
But
Same price
And not as fast
So seems logical to go with a data or rocket
@zenith sonnet did uni do much research into it
heh, price has gone up.
That's why I got that one
But so is the rocket afaik
At least until we get '980' series SSDs
And cheaper
Xdata does seem like the logical choice however
5 year warranty is also very nice
5 years is a solid amount of time
Guys help meh
So many nerdier people than me here
5 years is good
You can probably kill it before 5 years if you try to
But i doubt that you will
Never had an SSD fail on me
My friend got it or well I did with his card for his build
I’ll get him to run a benchmark
When he’s back
Intel released the 665P, but there are plenty of 660Ps on the market still.
i wont be able to test it etc
cos its an xmas przzy
@zenith sonnet you putting it in?
Eh, nope
aww
Nothing else has arrived yet, can't test it
this year hjas been really good for deals
That was fast
Yeah, always see those 2c off ones
2cent saved
That would be borderline illegal here in Denmark.
Just so it makes it into the listings?
holy moly
Amazon Germany does that, too
adata oh noe
You could argue it is abusing the "discount" concept not having a meaningful discount. The ombudsmand loves those.
Also a price has to be stable for six weeks running, before a discount (To avoid fudging prices a few weeks up to)
I'm sure they do - Thankfully price matching sites catch it. And if you did that in Denmark, you'd get slapped with a fun fine and paying customers could get a forced discount.
Denmark doing good, then
We're pretty hardcore with advertisement fraud. 😄
Pls influence the EU more :p
We did! The consumer warranty laws are largely designed based on Danish standards 😄

https://www.kmcomputer.de/detail/index/sArticle/3261
Do they have the wrong name and pictures on the 750W model? It should be the same line...
Going full VR I imagine.
I don't see the Steam controller work well with VR games. So they're most likely working hard on more VR hardware moving forward.
towards the end
they never really wear a big hit so most of this is probably the get rid of inventory
That too 😄
Ooorrr.... Steam Controller 2.0
we'd have had leaks about that if it were the case
Iunno, Valve seems pretty decent at keeping secrets
we've had leaks about every recent thing they made the last years?
Maybe
Even hl alex?
we did have some, just nobody really took it serious. bc it didnt have many details besides some speculation and it was "lol valve making a half life game"
And "valve is making a VR game"
Seems like it doesnt matter too much
somebody here did stuff with liquids in blender before?
couldn't get mine to behave like it should
before it kinda got stuck in a tube it should go through
so I lowered viscosity
now it just splashes everywhere and deletes itself
lowered too much
yea probably
I try higher visocisty now
granuality might be too low
it also sticks to the inside of the tube
dunno if I borked a setting there
sticking to the walls sounds more like weight and surface tensions
well
it is two seperate problems
atm I am messing aroudn with a slight force field on the tube
and see if that works
probably messes everything up lol
now it became portal gel lol
well thats a new game idea 😉
Can someone help me understand
my mobo says 1× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) / 6× SATA 6G
the m.2 i got is
m.2 2280
im sure its compatible right
2280 basically gives yo uthe lenght
I doubt that you can actually find a somewhat decent SSD that wouldn't fit on any modern board that has the slot
since they basically are all teh same lenght by now
the one i got is tiny
unless you have a MS surface 3, which has the tiniest m.2 slot
a stick of gum is the closest analogy I can find
those 3 screw holes allow you to fit all m.2 sizes
4* holes 😛
oh the screw is already in there
2280 is basically the standard size. 2242 is like what youd slap into the wwan port on a laptop.
Sure - 99% of M.2 uses 2280.
A few ones from laptops use the shorter one - usually with an adapter bracket. Never seen anything with the longest one - 22110
my m.2 didn't come with the standoff, just the screw, so it's kinda just stuck in there
works fine tho, just kinda miffed
The drives never come with screws or standoff. That's up to the motherboard
Mhmm.
whack
You don't really NEED either. I have ran M.2 drives just hanging in the connector shortterm. Electrical tape could do longer term in a pinch 😄
well the motherboard didn't come with one either so i guess i was SOL there
either way it works as i said, just something i was confused about
teh motherboard should have the screw and the standoff
you can even see it in the picture above
Mine was in a bag.
Bag is usually the norm. I have a bowl of those bags at home 😄
Remember, the 3950X has a 65W mode
Just quadruple that
And you very roughly get 3990X performance
lol
anyone good with monitor issues?
i have an old benq monitor that's 1920x1200 (got it for free otherwise i wouldn't be using this res lol)
i was able to get my resolution to display properly using a GTX 460 through DVI, but I'm trying to upgrade to a GTX 1660 ti/HDMI (it doesn't have a DVI port)
the scaling is all fucked and 1920x1200 doesn't show up as an option in windows or nvidia display settings; I tried setting a custom res in nvidia settings and it kept changing it back to 1920x1080
It should scale fine via hdmi
except it's not lol
Could be a bad cable I guess
It's an active adaptor, so the chip inside probably can't handle 16:10
1920x1200 is not even uncommon...
For a cheap adaptor cable? Oh yes.
People need to stop producing crap products...
It's a waste of resources
hdmi > dvi is passive
No.
Almost all cables are active these days - with cheap chips that won't do more than 60hz
why use a cable when u can just use an adapter
Usually cheaper.
at least not lenovo lol
well they were cheap and they have nice i5 8500, 256gb nvme and 8gigs of ram
are we talking MSRP or my price i got
price you got
msrp is 499
the 500 is retail
well it starts with 3
nice
ends in 00,00
thats only 25 of the ordered 70
we dont sell those for 499 btw since its a project price for the city
yea but still
so the margin isnt that good
you can get a decent margin even by undercutting
true
i also got 16 of those + 16 27" monitors in a storage room in the back for a school next year
and i got way too many SSDs
you can never have too many
i hate this year and beginning of next year
if you really think you have too many we might buy them off of you for cheap lol
why?
annoying projects?
not annoying
or just in general
just too much shit
oh, ok
like win7 -> win10 for pmuch all companies, schools, medical offices etc we work for
and private customers on top of that
oh yea
and on top of that the usual christmas stuff which was already demanding
that must be tedious af
is christmas that big of an impact for you?
for me it is just less work
get call from city hall
they want all their 70 PCs and the servers replaced
have to basically copy data from 70PCs to 70PCs
christmas is the time of year we got the most work
cause people want PCs, Laptops, Custom builds
insanely cheap

well waiting for black friday to get a deal on an ssd was a huge waste of time
well I cant really find a deal on either
something that I can't get for the same or lower price somewhere else already lmao
ye that one is 140 for me but no deal on it
You're in the EU right?
yes
thenyou can order from here
is there no VAT added or is shipping gonna cost me 50 or whats going on
no vat added as its not excluded
listing price is final price
as for delivery like 2 quid
i think
check
i got an item from .es and took 3.50
how am I saving like 25 bucks on this, how is that not checked for by their algorithms
meh not in stock till the 12th
id save 14 but would have to wait 3 weeks lmao think ill just order it on amazon de
products with gaming in their title
FOR HARDCORE GAMERS ONLY
not planning to use it as c drive anyway
better invest into a Nimbus Data DC100
just more storage for games and such
then my recommendation is even better
In March 2018, Nimbus Data launched the world's highest capacity and most energy-efficient solid state drive, the ExaDrive DC100, at 100 terabytes.
how can one say no to that
that is the one you linked
literally where i got the screens from was the link u posted
nah he linked the 8200
so why is it comparing the sx 8200 to RAM
i mean its not like id buy any adata products soon
Finally seem to have gotten CPU block and PSU 😄
Anyway, why did AMD change their colour scheme to red with Bulldozer?
I liked the green better
Well, now it's sorta orange
it was after they got ATI so maybe to unify the colors and not have green vs green in the gpu market
as a random guess
CPU is all over the place
EPIC is still greenish
the color of the plastic around the cpu doesnt really count as color of the brand
oh that one
It's a blueish green or greenish blue
Anyway, it's not red
Neither is Zen
Zen is orange
Of all things
yea just like you have different colors for still/sparkling water from the same company
Well it was green

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Amazon cannceled my black friday order for my phone due to stock issues
and now i have no phone and no discount
And they already confirmed they wont be selling that phone for a while
im so pissed
its in stock

This is why I'm so glad a lot of stores here protest against Black Friday by either doing black week or weekend, so that people won't feel super stressed about having to get things ON friday. Lot of online stores have sales that last till the 2nd.
Of course the discounts aren't as deep, but I like the notion.
Only thing i dont like about black friday is “door buster” deals
Where they have like 3 of an item at an extreme discount just to get you onto the site or into the store but they are immediately sold out
It’s what causes all the riots/violence at stores in america
I -hate- those 😄
Especially because employees will often buy these on the down load before the stores open.
Like $50 lcd tvs, $1 waffle makers, etc
I like it, where did you get the blue pentagonal cube from?
It's the packaging of the 9900K
yes I said it to try to convey my sarcasm but it apparently didn't work
Technically I grabbed it from work, since my 9900K is an engineering sample.
the 9900k is a meme
@reef patrol Even clothing stores seem to do Cyber Week sales here
It was a free upgrade from a 8700K. Meme or not I can't complain.
Oh wow
I just got an order confirmation for stuff I received yesterday
That means someone over at Alphacool does this manually and works on a Saturday evening 😂
I imagine they did it while packing.
Here you get an order confirmation - no legal use. Then you get an order confirmation once it has actually run through the system, and someone's packing it or had packed it
Well, I chose PayPal checkout without making an account on their website
Not surprising if someone has to go through it manually to send me a confirmation mail
Mhmm. Lot of fraud there.
I got a 'order shipped' confirmation I think on Wednesday Thursday
dats a lot of money
Two systems, two loops.
It's pretty normal with that in mind 😄
My first loop was around 5-700€ if memory serves. But I have swapped minimal parts since.
https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/produkte/298-carbonaut
Huh, new to me, looks good, though
@reef patrol Know these?
New to me - But they seem similar to those other graphite pads.
Not a fan personally. Conductive and I am a derp 😄
shrug I just use whatever paste I have handy personally. From reviews or whatnot
It's new to me. I don't pa a ton of attention to PASTE 😄
Four tiny dips of glue on the corners and you've got a perfect OEM "paste" solution 😄
Exactly?
Like I said - OEM 😄
paste will get worse over time
Wonder why people keep saying the VII won't receive support any more soon
AMD is still pumping out VEGA products even today, so I don't think so...
That is true
just because of the similarity in how the cards operate it will get indirect support by optimizations for other cards
you kinda excluded an important part there
it covered everything from smalles to biggest in equal steps between, seems like a good idea from 1855
???? where is your issue with that
you want them to not have any standard sizes or what
no that would be dumb
because why would you make a standard, where its made after naming convenince instead of practical reasons
thats not what I said
I said it would be dumb to base the standardized sizeson the measurement system
because why would you make a standard, where its made after naming convenince instead of practical reasons
if the next "Step" for the size would be 2.165 for example, why change that to 2 or whatever you would prefer, instead of keeping the steps the same and in turn just call that the x-th size of your system
Mac support when? 😛
looks like it
yes it is
G3 and a G5*
who cares about a regular g5
Hmm?
@reef patrol do I recall correctly you tested/have some external gpu cases/boxes whatever they are called?
(whoops wrong chat so I moved it here)
I haven't tested any personally, no. Sorry
do you perhaps know of a decent-ish one? to put an existing 980 into it?
@digital cliff Germany uses mm² for wire sizes. We don't use AWG
well yeah we have own standards for basically everything lul
ok nvm I really thought those external boxes were a bit cheaper
Halp
My powershow script keeps oppening over and over again

oh its the first line
Manual effort
i was hoping to make a script
To enable and isable
Disable at any time
if you get me
ah like hotkeys or smth u mean
something lie that
but for now
i cant run via admin so i used the first line to do that
however its causing the script to constantly open a new window
cause it runs itself
check if the script has admin
and only do the admin thing if it doesnt
that fixes that
like i said check if its running with admin privs and only elevate if it doesnt
pmuchthe same if u do that in batch
yes
like i said
check if uts running as admin in script
only run in elevated mode if its not running in admin context
well its not running as admin
ure script rn will always elevate a new instance of itself at boot cause well it never checks if it even needs to elevate
whenw hat do
whn im done bathing ill be able to help
ty ty
holy shit
i added 200 firewall rules
luckily removing isn't an issue
but jesus christ
nevermind... it was 600....
800......
so u done or u still need help?

try with that
that should detect if its run without admin and if its not admin elevate and kill the non admin process so only the admin one runs
would obviously still create multiple rules if run multiple times

by just using else
and if it exists remove the rule

How i did it lol

there now it toggles
if rules are added they get removed
if they arent there they get added
actually typoed that
lol
So i could just run one script?
this can prob be optimized with a loop or smth but idc
if u copy the last one i posted yes
every time u run it it switches
hot damn
i shall retreat to ragemp gamemode scripting hf
now u can abuse d2
its so i can solo grind
haha
i can start public events solo and not worry about randos
same with missions etc
So what's this then? It won't matchmake you?
exactly
it blocks the ports for public lobbies basically
basically like the gta5 solo lobbies u can get by pulling the ethernet cable for 3 seconds

Meh That’s qlc, already ordered the Adata one yesterday
1TB MP510 NVME get...soon. pesky out of stock status.
I had to burn a DVD today. A DVD. I feel like I'm excavating old tech in a digsite
😮
lol
@fair gull what programm do you use to design PCBs btw
easyeda
I believe one of Corridor digitals latest videos mentioned using panoramic screens to create real life green screens that auto track perfectly by using unreal engine.
Very cool tech.
yea
those screens are wack
since they are aligned with the camera position
so the picture looks really weirdly warped irl
Yes 😄

no that was something ubisoft said a few years ago
when trying to force a 30 fps lock on pc
@pale sigil 144Hz. VRR. Anti-lag. Proper moue. All steps toward a smoother gameplay that were noticeable.
To be fair, I don't recall when I switched the keyboard.
Anti lag is amd right
In CPU-bound scenario you have 0 pre-rendered frames
so there is no need for anti-lag or nvidia equivalent
you still have double buffered rendering though
one day we might be able to get VRR benefitts from rendering directly to front buffer
as we could back in the 80-90's, racing the beam
fml
just baked a fluid for an entire day in blender
only for it to not being able to render it
when it starts a render it starts filling the ram
until it is almost full
and then just crashes
ha
Time to download more ram obviously lul
Man! I was running out!
Deeply seated Problems, it seems
@zenith sonnet
Tried putting in one of the new Tridents
But it didn't like them
Now I'm back to unstable memory
Trying to get the this thing to boot...
everyone is having all sorts of issues here lately xD
@old marlin Doesn't make any difference if I run 2133 JEDEC or 3200 XMP
It's entire memory channels missing
rip
Not always the same ones
but gl finding out which it is
@old marlin
What I'm working on now
I really hope I can get the cases before Christmas break, though...

Swapped the factory original 160GB HDD to a cheap 240GB SSD (which it will realistically never be able to use because SATA1, but it removes a bit of weight and adds lifespan). Also upgrade the whopping 2x128MB (yes MEGABYTE - This was 2004) RAM to 2! GIGABYTES through sheer luck. Found two completely new DDR1 sticks in the back of the shop I work at.

i dont really think an ssd adds lifespan
They don't break as easily since there are no moving parts, and they don't need to be remagnetized for data safety.
except that i now have read multiple times that SSDs lose their data in 1-2years while HDD can be stored for around 5-10years
depending on certain factors
and unless you carry your iMac around i wouldnt worry about moving parts
i have multiple HDDs that lasted well over 4 years by now
running each day
i mean replacing it wasnt the issue
just from experience lost a shit ton more SSDs than HDDs
kinda sad i didnt take a pic from our dead drive collection
The thing here is - I'm not going to be powering this on for much on average. And HDDs are more likely to lose data from staying unpowered and unspooled for long periods of time compared to an SSD.
No magnetism - Just switches set in place without power phases holding them in place. And potentially faster even on SATA1 due to no seek time.
Not that it's going to matter. I moved about 25GB in total over to it, and a lot of that are imaged game cd's to play games that I haven't been able to find cracks for...because this is 2000s Apple releases 😄
like i said all reports i have read said HDDs start losing data at around 5years unpowered were SSDs do around 1-2years unpowered
unless you bake your harddisks and expose it to ionizing radioation
both of which affect SSDs and HDDs
Half to a whole year actually.
my hdd is 5 years old and still works great suprisingly
SSDs don't lose data passively like this.
i recently pulled my old pictures off a phone from 2007, no noticeable data loss, everything worked fine
@reef patrol what they do literallygoogle it there even have been studies about this

I don't care either way - I put a bloody SSD in the dang thing, and I am not going to put an old HDD in it 😛

otherwise everyone would use ssds instead of magnetictapes for cold storage
Except you know... cost. 😛
why would they care
Needn't I remind you that a 3.84TB SSD is hilariously expensive. Compared to magnitudes more storage worth of tape 😄
Yes...but no. They announced one in 18. Which is 3.5"
Also... expected pricetag was something in the area of like 50K USD. So.. again. Tape.
You don't need speed for storage.
tape is extremely scalable
Anyhoo - Returning back to initial point. The damn thing had an ancient 160GB HDD in it from 2004. I dumped a cheap 240GB SSD in it (Which is going to outlast the Mac anyway with all likelyhood), and I need like 25GB of data space in total anyhow for my ENTIRE old Mac game library including discs.
EOD 😛
Now feel free to continue discussing merits of SSD versus Tape for sotrage. 😄
@reef patrol u know that uh since i already sold 2 of those they exist

Good! They still don't make sense for STORAGE. They make sense in a scenario where you need speed AND STORAGE.
Enterprise or not, money ain't growing on trees - Especially as you need to scale.
My scenario is getting my shit on a Mac, where I won't have to worry about it starting to suddenly click and die after a year at random, if my cat decides to topple it 😄
but ya since SSDs dont lose their data like ever in 3 billion years we will switch to all SSD
Five minute swap 😄
depending on which iphone
more or less id say 10min max on any iphone model
Mhmm. Getting the old battery out is actually the tricky part. Those glue strips have a tendency to break, so you gotta force the battery up a bit and grab it again 😄
@fair gull SSDs lose data after 1-2 years on a shelf without power
If they're powered, this doesn't happen
Whoops, shoulda read the whole thread first :p
@zenith sonnet thats the point cause mansen said hdd lose data more quickly
@reef patrol why even use the strips... live on the edge and just pull them out by ripping em out
My colleague did this once and got acid sprayed in his face. Nothing serious but it could have been. So I err on the side of caution.
😄

that way they are powered at all times

hi. is it possible to disbale/rebind the left "windows" key?
np
pip?
but that aint an app?
THE PLAYER EVEN STAYS AT ITS POSITION WHEN SWITCHING VIDEOS
also multiple browsers have done this for a while
One of
so
i hate chrome so much
So one of two?
googles own browser didnt have it
is what ure trying to tell me
@ashen spindle basically
im just saying that i wasn't saying FF was the last one to do it
W....what would you need PIP for?
But... you still need that regardless, unless it's an App. In which case you have an APP running regardless.
it can overlay a game for example

nerd
I have a 1440P Monitor. I do two column already though.
except the video was well not showing cause not there

id not even consider that
I just minimize the damn thing then.
If I'm not watching something... why have a window open regardless of content 😄
now it just needs to react to media keys
Using computational fluid dynamics to analyse the aerodynamics of the tesla cybertruck. We use this to find out the coefficient of drag. the results are very...
looks like its better
than we think
Whaaaaat? Engineers actually considered aerodynamics when designing this? What a silly concept.
ikr
well
yad think
that ther would be beter truck designgs
thoug the entire market has been stagnent
hey look its almost like I my guess when I argued with someone somewhere (was it here? I dont remember) they did take dynamics into consideration
i thought it was designed as a warthog replacement model for hmcc on windows
@fair gull why use promises when you can use async/await?
Two column looks terrible on most everything. I bet it'd look nice on super ultrawide, only because it's literally two monitors in one
@sick creek because async await uses promises
literally the demo of async functions
has async/await and promises
Too much griefi...oh you meant the language.
griefing is the point of rust tho?
kill everyone you see and not allied with
no questions asked
if i dont know you you getting tapped in the noggin f
the fine line between scripting lang and actual coding lang
scripting langs are nice for quick prototyping
while coding langs are usually nice for apps that u want to natively distribute and heavier shit
prob no secret that i love js especially nodejs
but i wouldnt really use it for serverside coding
Too bad that that is exactly what nodejs is used for usually
making async, sync
@old marlin i mean it makes a great rest api
but not like a good webserver or gameserver
pls dont use the minecraft nodejs thing as mc server
Ah yes wonderful APIs
I like the ones where the property types randomly change
e.g. sometimes it's a bool, but sometimes it's actually a string, and hell why not make it a number as well
thats just a shitty api
