its quite a nice channel if you are interested for niche stuff or OC'ing beyond watercooling at home
ya i like that he's no bs
Discord: "please keep your messages under 2000 characters" dude
rip
bahaha
Was copy pasted my a text document I just wrote. Also only 4 words over 2000 apparently.
I will not be censored.
lmao just remove some spaces
just post the 4 words and we'll guess the others ez
Lol 4 words worth of spaces
Is k it's not related. Just a mouse recommendation. Will post later.
4 words over 2000 could be 8 characters or 40+? lol
ugh there are no ballistix elite 2x16gb
or even 1x16
this is going to sound super stupid but is there a black one
haha
what's the difference between the AT and LT models
oh asus specific
well, not asus specific but guaranteed to be compatible
just marketing
also, how dare you not recommend RGB ram
not my fault they mostly put that on stuff above 2x8 4000
makes sense(somewhat) on intel but not amd
i got you
do you know if there will be any change in UCLK/FCLK (or IF i guess) speeds with the 3950x
there wont
so 3800 will still be king
King of what?
of performance and lowest possible latency
well, hard to say, if they use only the best binned 8core chips for that one, it might also get your more chips that can do 1933 or so
but basically if i do 3700x, get the mem speed to 3800, oc the cpu to like 4.3-ish
i should be plenty good
honestly it might be better to just not touch the cpu and just crank up the cooling
since the weird boosting usually works better than using a static OC
fair enough. i'm not going to do water right away cause i just dont have the time
just put a NHD15 or so on it and you're good
nothing extra needed
the paste from it is also good, no need to get something else
just make sure you get a version that has the mounting bracket for the AM4 socket
er, kryonaut
@sick creek Don't OC the CPU
Ryzen 3000 performs better if you don't
Just make sure to run 1003ABBA
And soon 1004
ya i plan on buying today at some point
and building next week
i'm still trying to decide on mem
i've gone down the rabbit hole
Ryzen 3000 RAM frequency, latency, uclock, mclock, and fclock matter more than anything else for the R9 3900X, 3700X, and 3600. We're looking for the best RA...
makes me doubt everything. the crucial ram they tested tested very poorly so
you mean the one at 2666mhz?
What's his verdict?
oh shit i didnt even notice that
its at 2666 and still doing well
think so yea
i've always avoided them.. is their ram decent?
Use the Ryzen DRAM calculator, though
ya i will start with the dram calc
yes crucial is owned by micron which is why they always use micron dies
Anyway, is B-die or E-die better?
yeah it varies, but b die is end of life
think the announcement came this year?
maybe it was just a rumor then
first results are from May this year
looks like production stopped Q2 so there still some stock over
micron, samsung, sk hynix are the 3 choices you have, you'd need to look what they use it a kit
unless its like crucial who are owned by micron, it could be anything
ok yeah, all i can find is wikipedia saying "The company does not manufacture the memory dies, it purchases the memory dies and assembles them into a DIMM memory module ready for sale to customers."
lol THANKS
in theory they could even switch it in the middle of production
as long as it does what they advertise it at
this is so unnecessarily vague.. i wish it was easier to choose a high-end mem kit
lol
lol fuck it i'll just buy this... https://pcpartpicker.com/product/whzkcf/team-t-force-xtreem-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3866-memory-txkd416g3866hc18edc01
...kidding
never heard of them
those are some THICC sticks
tall as hell
its the heatsink
those will definitely not fit with every cpu cooler haha
yea could have some issues with a tall noctua lmao
lmao ok, just as an aside
why the fuck does this msi godlike board have a 1/4" headphone jack
lulw
Because its superior
but i just dont understand
anyone using a 1/4" jack is going to have a dedicated DAC
so... wut
It's a message to those who dont have one, or are too lady to get one. "Your Sennheisers will do fine"
lol
It's marketing but it works.
I get why
problem it that it just takes too much space and needs thick cables to be reasonable
Ye I had issues
my old hd-555's came with a 1/4 (6.3mm) by default but
thats the last one that had that
everything else comes with an adapter which is just
is there really any benefit for the larger jack?
if you have headphones with high ohm resistance
you need to be able to push the current through it
hmm, minijack already has quite a surface area..
but if you're using a 1/4" adapter on a 1/8" plug there is zero advantage
cause the internal wires are going to be a smaller gauge
???

The size of the jack has no affect other than they’re less likely to snap
You don’t need a bigger jack to push more power
It’s not the wires
It’s just the plug is more secure
Having an adapter between your amp and headphone cable just means the amp is less likely to break if you yank your cable or something
always thought it was just to handle higher power reqs but hey
like higher gauge cable wont work with a 3.5mm jack
so if you have cans that need something better than 30ga wire..lol
also i think i decided on the gigabyte x570 aorus master
i was going to get the xtreme but it's just overkill
and 2x the price
I want the Asrock X570 Aqua :p
didnt they only make 999 of those
Yeah
They didn't sell out yet
No surprise...
999€ is way too much for a motherboard
Yes
Minus 300€ for the massive waterblock
And you're essentially left with a 700€ board
Which fits in with the other highest end boards
Mindfactory, Caseking have stock
USA?
I dunno
probably sold out in the US
it's not listed anywhere
not on ebay tho, so maybe unreleased
¯_(ツ)_/¯
good thing i checked this
I like that I can use my headphones on my phone aswell, dont use it much but it is nice
also why are these so expensive D;
they're basically the best performing ones on the QVL for the motherboard
also @ashen spindle almost all of the ballistix ram isnt listed on the QVL
which is disappointing, cause i was going to buy those
sure but the chance of it not working is so very low
right, but if i start OC'ing and run into issues gigabyte is gonna be all ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I mean, look through other boards with a similar layout from GB and see if there are more listed on them
or maybe some other micron chips they tested are basically the same so they didn't double test it idk
ya idk
this one is listed: BLE8G4D40BEEAK
but it's a single dimm
and i dont want to go thru the process of buying and returning tons of ram to get sticks that work well together
actually- you might be right
4x kit (32gb) is BLE4K8G4D40BEEAK
2x kit is BLE2K8G4D40BEEAK
so it's just 2K and 4K before the 8G
Why do you want higher gauge wire tho
They just make cables stiffer and easier to break
I would prefer 6.3mm audio port on my PC xD most pro-level audio uses that, or XLR
also.. how the heck is Linux Kernel already upto version 5.x
It seems to have gone 2.4 - 2.6 - 5.x
so I thought I saw some news about new nvidia gpus release date
turns it it's just wccftech making an entire article about another tech guy saying something about "half of year 2020" in a speculation
nice journalism
Because version numbers are arbitrary
I mean, yeah I'm not preordering a gpu or anything lmao
still good to know if you or someone else thinks about changing pc parts
ye i'm just gonna wait on pci-e 4.0 benchmarks from amd AND nvidia and then choose the better of the two
ehhh, I'm still not sure that'll make a difference for single gpu
I know there was a test recently to show how much it does (doesnt) do on current gpus but I cant find it
Yeah for consumer grade hardware adding more lane bandwidth hasn't really made a difference
Especially when you consider RTX GPUs still don't saturate the 3.0 link
ah I found it on techpowerup
a 2080 ti still gives 98% performance on x8 lanes on pcie3
so only once we get a card that is double the power of an 2080 ti we need pcie 4
PCIe4 is very interesting for storage, though
definitely
Thicker wire and connector size are not related at all
Also just get an external dac and amp, most of them have a quarter inch jack anyway
I'd want pcie 4 for the m.2s not the GPU at the moment
high def tux
Welp, BIOS reset itself...
nice
Two weeks to take my OnePlus in for service to swap a battery under warranty. I am livid.
No wonder so many people sell their phones after a year. The swap takes maybe 15minutes tops
My 6 was very fairly priced. Gonna sell it now just over a year in and buy a 7.
TWO WEEKS

My 3 still going strong
It's just not fun to have 15% power when I get back from work every day.
came back to my PC
desktops are exactly swapped between my monitors
Never seen that happen
Even the main taskbar swapped displays, every window stayed at the exact same coordinates
Weird
May I suggest a Doogee phone?
I have an S90 and love it
I just wish that USB consortium would get its head out of its ass, and STOP putting connectors on easily broken wafer thin bits of plastic in the -middle- of the connector. the one thing that I like about coworkers apple phone is that the contacts are on the outside of the plug.
modular can suck my ass
I'll pay $1400 or whatever for the LG V50 with the badass dual screen addon
cause their webstore is as shit as their phones
thats why
also convinced that a CAT phone is more rugged than any dogee phone
like CAT phones and tablets are literall bricks
What a great fucking sale might just get me one now that its 9999 instead of 9999

God fucking damn it
This stupid rig
Lol
lol
nice side effect of my new rig, is that minecraft modpacks launch significantly faster
woah, sata hotspwap actually works 😮
oo
It is far from risk free though
Hmmm
Well it is hotpluggable by design and that has always worked for me
Just remember to safely remove unless you're brave
Drive caching in OS like Windows need to be disabled for any hotplug drive. Otherwise you're begging for data loss
eject
Sure. But how often do anyone ACTUALLY eject their drives? 😆
Only by accident
It does exactly what Mansen mentioned
Make sure drive cache is clear
and.. speed :p
Yep
and responsiveness
that sounds counter productive
Why would you do that?
But not infinite spins
My SSD from 2009 is still alive today, and it has a few TiB of writes
SSDs don't just wear out
Like, thousands of times
However the way modern systems work globally disabling all disk caching can cause slowness
lol so
it's a really good thing i have massive problems with indecision
the 3800x went on sale on newegg and is only $40 more than the 3700x
so i'm just gonna get that because its basically a better binned 3700x lol
that way you could say the 3700 is a better binned 3600 and is only $x more :p
i wasnt gonna do it at 399 ¯_(ツ)_/¯
but at 369...
this is also why
3800x can hit 4.20ghz, more than likely 4.25ghz whereas the 3700x you have to get lucky to hit 4.15
on all cores**
Isn't the 3800X 4.5 GHz
yes - but we're talking all-core max speed
but you need to keep in mind that the new boost algo for ryzen is a bit different, it's not like you keep the single or all core boost all the time, so even if it can go higher that might result in <1% performance boost
yes i understand that
You don't do all-core OC on those
Which limits you to the slowest core
in any case, for $40 its a no brainer imo
True
it's better silicon, period
True
i'm bummed out that the lian-li o11 dynamic wont fit the noctua dh-15 or bq dark rock pro 4
the air would have the same issue
i'll have to check the XL but i wasnt planning on a case that large
O11 Dynamic is good, but not the best case for pure air cooling
i'm not gonna be using any mech hard drives this go-round
yeah i wanted to eventually do a hard loop water setup
but i also wanted good air cooling in the mean time
my buddy has a pretty nice 3800x he got 4.4 all core after weeks of tweaking
4.4
laughs in i7 9thgen
they dont have the same ipc
i think zen 3 is going to overtake whatever intel can come up with
intel might be able to push 14nm 5% faster while amd is looking at bigger gains
while I would like that I don't think so
the biggest performance zen2 got was from the branch predictor they added, which was pulled ahead from zen3 to zen2
Zen 3 gains will be small, they said probably less than 5%
Mostly they focus on efficiency and that stuff
Going to 8 core ccx with a huge cache and going to 7nm+ with more density and hopefully higher yields should make a bigger difference than under 5% imo.
I dont see how using a smaller and new node increases yields, or what that does to performance
better bins come from better yields but not really something that increases perf
Re-using my thermaltake water 3.0 aio, seasonic prime 850 platinum, and another 512 ssd
And 1080ti
the lianli fans are crap
¯_(ツ)_/¯
If they are i will return them
It was either those or the corsair LL fans and i liked the aluminum frame better on the lian-li
Haha. You wanna buy me some?
nahhh
$104 for 3 fans
Or $60 for 3
Ez choice.
I’m gonna run them at lowest rpm(900) but if the noise bothers me i will return and buy better ones
I have rubberized fans which are damn near silent 🙂
I dont remember them being so much
I am currently looking for CPU water cooling. Corsair?
@safe patrol corsair AIO for sure
Awesome. I had the H60 in my wishlist already 🙂
If you can fit the bequiet dark rock pro 4 or noctua nh-d15 then you can skip water
and an AMD AM3+ somethingorother xD
wow... the Dark rock pro 4 is more expensive than the Corsair water cooler
You can check on pc part picker if they are compatible
scale in what way?
cause 500 is not the biggest/only single platter size
uhh
atm I think 2TB?
not too sure
otherwise you'd have 24 platters in one of those 12TB drives
4tb is the biggest rn
or 32 in the 16TB drives
with 2tb per side
20tb hdd is in the works tho
so we will see 5tb per platter
and 2.5 per side
20TB is with MAMR and HAMR though
not sure if there are any non 500gb single platter drives out there rn
@proud nacelle ST1000LM035
1tb platter
single platter
keep in mind single platter != single head
this is a dualside platter
it is
This semi-frequently-updated site attempts to keep a record of which hard drive models, both current and discontinued, utilize what areal de...
if u wanna check out other manufacturers
single side makes pretty much no sense tbh
since a half size platter with 2 heads is cheaper
they ususally don't swap platters
ya
a good recovery company can deal with allignment issues
they have special tools anyway
no
a good recovery comp has a stock of all hdd models
so theyd swap and also check for aligntment
which hint they know how to
like
hard to explain
lets just stay with the easy explanation: a serious data recovery company can ecover data from pmuch anything unless the platters are actually destroyed/ruined
its either heat, electronic failure or a firmware corruption that kills ur drive
well
too much heat on the wrong component kills it
but heat is the essential factor for HAMR and MAMR
well heat isnt healthy for drives still even with hamr mamr
cause that only affects platters and very localised
ur hdd fails mostly due to the other parts failing
like the pcb or the read/write heads
Well when a mummy firmware gets together with a daddy firmware
But they are both related
It well
Causes much corruption
@proud nacelle its not
its as unsafetl since the failure chance is the same for the head
my win7 installed 53/51 updates
O.o
ya but each head has the same chance of failure
psure thats not how chances work
since they arent active simultaneously but rather in very very fast succession
that wont happen unless u live in an earthwuake area
or u carry around a spinning hdd
for multi hdds u use nas drives which can take the vibration
the chance of that happening btw is so small that it wouldnt matter if u have 6 or 2 heads
if u want actual safety go with ssds
much safer cause no heads
SLC flash and ure set
"only"
for flash thats pgood
and considering you cant have any platter failures
its the best use case
and usually (as the table also shows) the enterprise choice since its lasting longer and reading slightly faster
yes
and dont read/write important shit constantly
so dont put malware scanners or smth on it
well generates heat
heat kills electrical components
no exception
i mean if ur AV isnt too agressive and scans once an hour its prob fine
they also die of heat
games
music
why
those are easily recoverable through other means
if you want long term use magnetic tapes or cds
they last longer than an ssd in a shelf
your choice i wouldnt put smth unimportant like games on it tbh
like ar and family stuff and important docs ok
in that case id go cd/dvd
That list is missing QLC
Write on HDD, then power down and put on shelf
Better than DVDs
That's an issue for SSDs
Power it down for 2 years
And it'll be unreadable
That should work
ya
works
anyway QLC is shit cause only like a few hundred erase cycles
before the cells are worn
@proud nacelle they do
power = spin
they just go into park and then come back after an hour or so
for a minute or 2
basically keeping the drive in idle
and ready to read/write
i mean when i test drives i plug in power by itself first to see if it actually spins and does the initial seek
usually its: power, spin, seek, wait a minute or 2, spin-down, idle
and then most manufacturers have another cycle of spin, wait a minute or 2, spin-down, idle
cursed gnome panel 😂
I made it real T H I C C
I put it back to normal
:'))
hm? I am using the Nord theme everywhere I can
I love it ❤
I use for gedit , intelliJ, my desktop theme, my web browser theme also
I wish there was a Nord global CSS I could use with Stylish to make every website use the Nord color theme
oh?
it easy ..what desktop?
wat
you use window manager?
do you control everything with keyboard shortcuts?
and each app is auto split into halves on the screen?
when you open them or take the fullscreen when there is only one app on the screen
ok, what OS you using?
xd
oh if you have to manually snap windows then it isnt a window manager you are using, its a desktop
-.-
what OS?
.....my bad
yes I mean distro
can you screenshot neofetch for me
im so lost
how dont you know what you are using?
then what window manager?
ooof good good ok
if you install lxappearance you can set theme with that
oohh
you need the QT5 Configuration Tool
then change style to gtk2
but themes still support gtk2
mostly for this reason -.-
ffs they need to update this QT integration
yeah :/ even GTK themes are just hacks at the css
cause gtk is styled with CSS afaik
this is the CSS for gnome shell
well...for this theme I am using anyway
I made the panel THICC by editing a property in the gnome-shell.css file
you mean a standard css file to base all themes off of?
wat?
I use gnome tweak to change theme
nope
thats bs
you can use lxappearance and the QT5 config tool
to set the theme for gtk and QT
you can drop any themes you download into your ~/.themes folder
oo the default gnome theme
the most ugly theme in existance!
Not if there is something like Nord out there to use that is always coherent and a pleasent color palette!
i could look at this theme all day and it would not hurt my eyes like other dark themes do
ikr!
who know it could be so easy on the eyes!
:'))
this is one of the best themes I have used so far
except that freaking sidebar on the file manager that isnt there on any other theme and it sucks
the one on the left with the icons
it isnt there on other themes and I hate it
but I love this theme enough to try to ignore this
:PP
I am so happy that there is a Nord theme for IntelliJ too so I can code my Java in an app that looks like its part of the desktop
wat?
oh, idk how ;-;
wat? I using IntelliJ
nu xd
I have never used Geany before
same
it is impossible to avoid long ass line when dealing with JOptionPane
-.-
cant make this any shorter
o?
that did work!
to get rid of the line
so this should work fine?
yeah it does actually
lel yeh
I guess this makes sense, yo could write all the code along one line and it would still work
indeed.... at least I dont have to handwrite code, otherwise I would not be able to read it
well...we do in the exams -.-
Making an entire multi class java application is hard when its all freaking hand written
especially in 2 hours
shudders
imagine trying to do a handwritten exam in Piet
I see
It's fine! You helped me figure out what that like was called and how to get rid of it and I learned you can put code into the next line and it'll still work
Yup
High Level Assembly isn't -that- bad
so i verified that my asrock z97 extreme6 vrm is the only thing that's busted
i was looking for motherboard repair places
but i found this pic... not using this place LOL
also... ATA slots, serial ports, printer ports, AGP slot... PCI slots... a VIA southbridge... what year is this?
100M Lan lol
my guess is SDRAM lol
@sick creek could try replacing the VRM by yourself
hot air rework station and a bit of courage
also Louis fucking Rossmann macbook repair videos for hot air soldering tips and whatnot
This one got my through fixing my GPU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oV9NkeOeVE
We repair Macbook logic boards: https://rossmanngroup.com/macbook-logic-board-repair 👉 Find tools used, recording gear, repair guides, chip sources, & crypto...
I'm in school for this stuff
That rossman guy does so many things I've been trained not to do
I suppose it does work some decent % of the time and he does have most of the right equipment
He has practical experience
but yea don't scrape the PCB with the god damn tweezers lmfao
I dunno I'm being trained more for manufacture than repair which is a lot cleaner of a process
true
Its weird to see him leave all the grime on the boards. I've done repairs and always cleaned the board in ultrasonic alcohol making it a lot easier to see visible problems and various other improvements
He prefers the grime on the board to see where the problem is
frankly doing it that way reduces the number of time you have to ultrasonic clean
also what I don't get is that wouldn't the cleaning process destroys whatever TIM is used on the board?
I haven't repaired a board with tim on it but that could be a good reason
I'm not that far along in my studies though, still have a lot to learn
@plain locust yeah i already contacted him, just waiting to hear back lol
just thought i'd check my local area to see if anyone existed and well, probably not? haha
if he gets back to me and tells me to send it in, i'll do it, but if not it's gonna be put into a frame and go on my wall... cause why not. cpu is a 20th anniversary intel g3258
I dont think it's worth money to keep that alive
I have to use a VPN in the hospital for YouTube lol otherwise most videos are blocked.
wtf
I wonder if my Xbox one mobo just needs a reflow thounking
i want to know why m.2 sata is a thing
and why they arent all pci-e
i was trying to put my m.2 (sata, as i now know -- wasnt paying attention when i bought it apparently) into my other z97 machine and was trying everything to get it to work only to find out the asus maximus vii hero only supports m.2 pci-e
which makes sense i guess, but... irritating
M.2 sata is a thing because it's cheaper / doesn't require the controller to be redesigned. Coupled with lower end ssd's the benefits of pcie are not that great so why not. I didn't know devices that didn't support sata over m.2 where a thing either.
Are you sure it's not a bios setting
My z170 asus bios has an option to run the m.2 in pcie or sata
So the ps5 controller will have adjustable trigger resistance and haptic feedback. Clearly we now need a wooting 5 with the same features
we didnt even have a wooting 3 yet
@sick creek
thats from the maximus hero vii z97
or did u just not check the manual/specs of your board and assumed it does both
its an old board
my asrock z97 extreme6 supported both so i got lucky
but it died
so, never having used an m.2 in the vii hero, i didnt know til i tried
basically i'm moving my plex server over to a new rig that also happens to be z97
i bought an ngff to sata adapter
so it'll be fine
@reef patrol Thoughts on the MSI MEG x570 Unify? Also, what's the price on that thing?
and @feral jolt yes i'm sure lol. i enabled m.2 mode but its pci-e only
Not a fan of the design personally. And it's very different visually to the Z390 version, which I have currently.
Haven't tried overclocking my 9900K on it though, so not sure how well the board performs. X570 is just pricy in general.
@zenith sonnet
Hmm
I'd probably look at Gigabyte or Asrock, but that one seemes interesting as well
Msi seems to be a real hit and miss company though I would recommend their MAX boards, it seems like theres better alternatives to almost all of their products
Aren't those just the same as the non-max ones, except that they cheaped out on the BIOS chips on those and had to rerelease them?
MSI is 95% miss and 5% Godlike, lol
The bios chips were the only issue yeah
Msi seems to cheap out on everything they can especially stuff the average dude doesn't think about like power phases and VRMs
And when they do add the nice power phases and VRMs its 500 dollars+ while the 160 dollar Asus prime has enough to handle 200 amps which is a 3950x at advertised boost speed

Those look neat
lol retaliatory pranks?
DONT DISTURB THIS GAMER
where are these even supposed to go? your bedroom door? lul
Man, they're ugly
I remember getting some XFX stuff which was kinda neat, some metal stuff, not just stickers
But generally speaking they're kinda lame
The ryzen sticker you get with CPUs is also kinda nice, but doesn't really fit anywhere for me
the monitor boxes came with the cat?
I think he says 'mine now'

The other one is 'investigating' the shipping boxes...
don't call your wife "the other one" @zenith sonnet ... that's mean
@sick creek you should see the stickers from Asus, also very cringy
🤔
Haha
@zenith sonnet i hope ur cat is called Mr Dickface
hey I said something about variable resistance switches being cool to be explored for future development and was brainstorming ways to make this happen while most people were like "nah its not possible" well I am glad my engineering experience has taught me to keep looking. I found this interesting info about the new 'dualshock 5' controllers made for the PS5 coming out in 2020. I think this offers a new potential for the further development of the lekker switch potentially and I am hyped for it. Still gonna get a current lekker switch board before this rolls out though, just hyped on it :)
here is the excerpt:
The controller (which history suggests will one day be called the DualShock 5, though Cerny just says "it doesn't have a name yet") does have some features Cerny's more interested in acknowledging. One is "adaptive triggers" that can offer varying levels of resistance to make shooting a bow and arrow feel like the real thing—the tension increasing as you pull the arrow back—or make a machine gun feel far different from a shotgun.
and here is the full article:
https://www.wired.com/story/exclusive-playstation-5/
im sure someone else mentioned this too, just thought it was cool
How to position your primary display in a dual monitor setup?
Display 60cm from your eyes still the way to go?
Dude I still just have one monitor :(
I don't think I have the space for two unless they are both to the sides, but I want one to be right in front of my eyes
Ima try
Feels like first row in a cinema
My unit got IPS glow out the ass, though
Like, wow
Thats pretty nice
Если бы вы были сыром, то каким? Пишем свои варианты в реплаи.
oh msi
what have you done
glad i didnt get an msi board
i'll support that furry trash the moment i start supporting the chinese govt over hk
which is to say... never
See! I told you furries ruin everything 😂
Especially animals 🤔
Is IPS glow on the 27GL850 up to chance as well, or do they just all have it?
Well I guess you could say every IPS has it if going by oled standards but the uneven patchy glow is up to chance on most models
It's, I think, very even
Just brighter than a full moon night
Motion clarity is outstanding, even compared to a FS2735, which also is a 144Hz Freesync IPS
But damn, that glow
why would you do that? xD
lol, crosstalk on a mouse? you guys...
any alien crosstalk will have minimal impact on the mouse's function, so it's no big deal. looks cool
I like it more than paracord
Paracoord for life.
I prefer my lightspeed wireless
Same performance, less interference, and less cable
not that gooooooood
don't get me wrong, I don't use wired for better performance.. If I could get wireless UL2 I would trust me, if it only added few g weight
but it would be wrong to say wireless has better performance than wired, it does not
comparing apples vs oranges
logitech wired > wireless tho
logitech wireless > x brand might be tru
Depends on your needs.
i get wireless headsets
i mean im an astro a50 user myself
but
i dont get wireless mice/kbd
wireless mice are scheiß
idk cant really complain bout my astro except maybe its pricetag
has good sound quality for a normal non studio headset, has mod kits for soundproof cups made by astro themselves
and i dont lose connection anywhere in my apartment
so im all gucci
logitech wireless is good
i mean i had it 5years now and it only broke yesterday
i have a cheapy bluetooth speaker that I am pretty sure has only one speakers inside it so the sound isnt really stereo ;-;
something like the GPW has an excellent implementation
i mean astro is a logitech brand
madcatz
lol
logitech company as well
when i tried getting a refund due to obvious poor build quality they claimed it was my fault it broke
lol
and with astro well like i said 5 years no issues
better be
they are expensive
still not good wireless though
no manufacturer has done it yet
with good weight, sound quality, runtime, range
preferably open if you ask me
i mean they lastest a good 8hrs or so
sound quality was pretty good
i'll stay with my HD 6XX
is there a good place to download a win xp iso lol
we only have a 32bit version
and I need 64 bit
O.o
64bit XP?

Yeah TechNet provides official ISO images IIRC. Obviously you need a legally obtained key to install them though 😉
curious though... Why XP edition?
i could send u an iso of xp 64bit
Get the SP3 ones with NVME patches. That way you're getting ALL of the SP stuff
"Windows XP 64-bit" in DuckDuckGo provides plenty of results 😉
i'll try if the driver just had a bad install or something
NVME patches?
I have a 32 bit SP3 rn
from a colleague
I actually have legit xp keys lol
I have a key
From college
me too! 😄
they aren't hard to get
why XP though?
Cos I grabbed keys for every os possible
noice
because that laptop is old
came with vista originally
and only has 2gb of ram
for better compatability with games that will actually run on it XP would be the best choice
I’d just bin it
ooo gotcha
At my last job this guy brung in a laptop that originality ran w98
Asking us to fix it
and gl running some win xp games on modern win 10
In my experience 64-bit XP SUUUUCKS
yup
but that was also 10+ years ago
Modern problems need modern solutions...wait...no...go back
The manufacturer of the camera should use this as advertisement for their cameras, lol

id photoshop the pornhub logo into my eyes on photos rn
Linus Tech Talks
People at TPU going ape over the fact that TR40/Zen 2 TR aren't backwards compatible with Zen/Zen+ and X399
It's probably for the better AMD made a new socket there...
😄
It's a bit silly yes - You'd assume most customers would want those 4.0 NVMEs for their high end prosumer platform.
they never even said anything about the tr4 platforms longevity
they only ever mentioned am4 to last long
They're butthurt that Epic doesn't need a new socket
But TR does
lol
"AMD is starting to act like Intel", they say
Because one socket that lasted only 2 gens
Aww
The best thing about it are the looks
inb4 no window on case
I'd stick that in an O11D XL
ok wasnt that the almost all glass case
too many windows
ya can have "ugly" supermicro server board and all that
I guess TR will not be interesting for me, after all
Given that it starts at 24C, and I sure as hell don't need that many
so what did u expect from a product thats literally called "THREADRIPPER"
it is supposed to be a workstation platform after all
I know
But that doesn't mean it isn't competitive in performance
And price
Even intel slashed prices on their HEDT lineup by half in anticipation
Til Windows cursor is grey on HDR displays
Funny
Crashes a few times and one of my DIMMs went missing in BIOS again
Thanks Windows Update
This thing is cursed, I swear
@reef patrol Got any idea why randoms DIMMs might go missing from BIOS?
Seriously, freaking weird
They're all seated properly
Last day to get some nice headphones
$100 off any Fostex TR-X00 on Drop. Any wood and the EU collection pairs. Just click link and $100 off will be applied at checkout. (Not my link and no affiliates) I know I haven't reviewed yet, but I really like these and $320 for a set new is great deal. https://t.co/Iof...
@pale sigil
@zenith sonnet id say try a bios reset if u already tried reseating the ram
@neat oriole oh
Only tr-x00?
@neat oriole does this link give x amount on other items?
@fair gull Of course I did that a few times
I could maybe try an older BIOS version
Eh, not exactly
Although it's random slots that appear empty, it changes after reboots, and it's on either side of the CPU (quad channel)
So, this makes no sense unless it's a central CPU component that's borked or a software issue
Or something completely unrelated?
I mean, the rig is as unstable as a pregnant woman, so...
Could be anything
cant relate to the instability comparison
Lol
It'll run fine for a few weeks or months
Then suddenly it'll become unstable and crash all the damn time
That goes on for a couple of days or something, trying to find a cause
And then it'll run fine for a few weeks again
i have that aswell
Often it starts after Windows or driver updates...
Maybe it's related to them pushing some microcode updates in the background?
and holding pwrbtn for 10sec doesnt even work
mine just freezes
Amd everything goes downhill
And suddenly it works
It's freaking weird
At this point I just want AMD to hurry up with the 3950X
I do use XMP and a slight OC
But running everything stock and JEDEC doesn't fix anything
And afterwards the same OC will be stable again
@pale sigil it’s expired by now but it was $100 off
Also the trx00 is the bass one
There’s a link that also gives you $25 off of the 6XX but that’s not a bass headphone

damn this sounds nicer than my gen1
This looks weird
just wanted to test if a h212 fit on this lga2011 board
it does
now i gotta buy another one
Good luck, cya
also SSI-CEB boards are weird af
i'm just moving it from its pedestal/rack mount case to a normal case
cause the rack mount case is super fucking loud
Just buy normal stuff like everyone else
already had this
👌
I just dunno the context, lol
its an old server i had laying around from 2013 or so
Intel® Server Board S2400SC2 quick reference guide including specifications, features, pricing, compatibility, design documentation, ordering codes, spec codes and more.
anyway, it's a low-mid-end dual xeon
i just figured it would be fun to put into a regular case
True
cause it has redundant psu's, sas drive enclosure, etc
i'll probably just put it into the garage and use it as a heater during the winter 😉
kidding, each cpu only has tdp of 95w
so it wont make that much heat
If you need a heater, I heard the new 10980X burns approx 700W under all core load
wtf
ESTIMATED, though
No real benchmarks out there
But the 9980X or whatever is current already burns 500W or so, and this one has more cores and more Hz
fuck that
but then again i guess whats what the second psu spot in my new case would be useful for
The 3950X will probably performs about equal at a third of the power draw
i'm so happy with my new ryzen build
i'm only running ram at 3600mhz right now, cause i havent tried 1900mhz fclock
but it's pretty fast
memory latency is at 69ns
but rack mount is so nice! x3
mmm nice rack you got there
now that you mention rack mount
still need to a buy a small rack on wheels for my shit
which headset did you get @fair gull ?
another astro a50
gen4 tho
had a gen1 for 5years
it broke 2 days ago (just minor physical damage that is, otherwise still works)
those new corsair ones, virtuosou or whatever, seem nice
i still have my g35 from like 2007
cracks everywhere in the plastic, (not on the cups, but what is attached to the cups) and it still works fine
the g35 was wired right?
yeah
ya no good
well, i have the wired one
i wanted wireless again
i won it on a lanparty 😄
and had good experience with my astro
so i went with it again and so far not disappointed
i was a broke ass student, who had 10 euro headphones
to a fancy G35
i think they were out for like half a year or so
all because i won a poker tournament and placed 2nd in the Mortal kombat compo 😄
at a lanparty 😄
they had like a "fun" event, where you could score points based on certain fun competitions that weren't hardcore like cs1.6, LoL, etc
really like astro for their built in EQ aswell
and the fact this one crazy dude whos a sound engineer made special EQ settings for them to sound the best they can
and i was like 9th 😄 and got a g35
#1 got a fancy ass (for that time) projector worth 1600 euros
Resolved an issue that may display an instruction to remove the Joy-Con during the initial setup of Nintendo Switch Lite.
thanks nintendo but i already sawed off my joycon
VENGEANCE LPX memory is designed for high-performance overclocking. The heatspreader is made of pure aluminum for faster heat dissipation, and the eight-layer PCB helps manage heat and provides superior overclocking headroom.
Fucking finally
20 cents per MHz, not bad
but why unless price or compatibility
Wouldn't 3800 CL14 stretch the limits of the infinity fabric anyway
sure but not every cpu is Zen2 :p
Some can do 1900 Mhz Infinity fabric if set to manual
But not all
1800 works on every CPU, though
@wheat plume https://discordjs.moe/t😹4🐬🐋⭐l🌹.png
thats the tweaker im using
so nice
Soooo.... Just pre-ordered the 7T. This should be interesting.
Really enjoyed my 6...till the battery started losing lifespan fast.
Pft oneplus
Had the 5
But really wanted something more polished as it does what it should, but really not any more
My 6 was really cheap - Never been a "flagship" type user. Bought a Nokia 3 with the wife initially, and those are just too slow for proper Facebook use. You'll get so tired of waiting for it to keep up.
Only reason for swapping to the 7T is because of my battery dying, and not bothering to spend money on a new battery that might not help.
How much battery life do you get out of it?
Still getting 6-7h of navigation with Google maps out of mine after all these years
10 min
If I charge it in the morning, it is on battery save by the time I get home.
Ouch
7 hour shift plus a bit of walking - And it's not like I get to use it a ton, aside from a bit of Ifixit lookup and google when I don't have a laptop handy for troubleshooting customer Pcs.
