highest speed on stock ram is 4800 afaik
which is xmp
and amd boards can use xmp profiles
XMP is OC
otherwise you can use the highest jedec
which is 3200 now
but intel didn't update their plattform for that
Well, it's not always...
But going above CPU spec is OC
Is it that easy?
Omfh yes xiaomi yes!!!!
It's been like 5 weeks since I got an update
Well, seems they don't care or need it
they know everybody uses xmp
idfk
I could post an update screen every month thanks t osamsung
but it ususally doesn't hav eany noticeable changes
it has a lot
to 9 was a big change on samsung
Xiaomi are very vague with their update change logs
so is everybody
You really have to go to the forums to find the real one
Oh
You mean the upgrade to ONE ui?
ye
Ah
on my nexus 4 I got like 3 hours of battery life fro ma single update
Not with xiaomi
They use beta for new features
was kitkat i believe
Lock screen improvement
Face unlock options to stay on the lock screen after it sees you
Reveal notification details when it sees you
Dark theme
Better animations for the gestures
Dark theme and the face unlock options are pretty significant
go stay on windows 95 then lol
They change how you use the phone a lot
It's so much nice to be able to look at my lock screen without face unlock unlocking the phone instantly
I don't usually
only for big ones
so android version updates
nah, they are improvements
The beta gives you security patches too
but incremental ones
That's a good idea on it's own to upgrade
It's nice to have them
Considering this is the only ohoke I ever had that actually kept the software updates
they change nothing about the experience
Phone**
I know
But it's secure
Yeh
Carriers lock updates I think
At least in MURICA
carrier phones ewww
The recents screen doesn't work when opening it from the home screen
Wtf
The apps are there i can see them though
Wait
It was caused by the PiP video I had playing
It works now with that gone
So strange
@latent mural
https://www.techpowerup.com/img/dF4sjxFh6HNk7GXn.jpg
Seems like it's still a thing ๐ค
That's just latency, though
Raw bandwidth should still increase
ik
Anyway, 5000MHz kits, when?
Weirdly, there was a huge drop in latency f4om 2666 to 3200
But almost none from 3200 to 3733
4800 also looks decent
Why does discord turn all the numbers blue? Can I turn that off?
unfortunatley trident z royal
it isn't discord
android recognizes every number as a telephone number
Can I disable that shit?
don't think so
Android, pls grow up
It's 2019, nobody calls any more
And most definitely not from random numbers in chats
same
Are you on stock Android ? @zenith sonnet
Nope, Stock OxygenOS
OK that's bad
bad guy?
Went to bed (4:30am) the battery was 70 something % and some up it's 51% (12:20pm)
This is literally a brand new phone one day old
time for a return!
On my eyes are fucking with me it's 58%
oo
What's causing this
limit background apps
you can enable like only 3 background processes in the developer options
Nvm
or use the battery settings and choose apps
I don't get that option
oh?
As you can see
oh, wtf that is strange
btw, im jealous, you have an always on display
cause its amoled screen
Which I'll probably never use
I'm way to paranoid about screen burn xD
does that happen on amoled?
โค Now Playing
yeh that
Yes
I miss the colored notifications for when you are playing music on your phone, MIUI doesnt have those ;-;
its just that off shade of white
Happened to my friends s7 and its always made me paranoid
wow
better usage of space
hmm
Do you not use it or something
you slept for a week?
Ooo finally
Bluetooh is the killer
Always on display too
Always on is nice tho, so I just put it upside down when I don't need it
My bt isn't too bad. It stays on along with spotify running for 6 hrs at a time and intermittent use through the night and I may lose 25-40% depending on my use
don't use always on though
If I have Bluetooth off, display off, discord the only background app, it will lose at most 1-2% overnight
I once left always on and bluetooth with nothing other than discord running, at least 30% drain doing nothing.
I'm gonna keep an eye on it ofc
What's dat?
apex pro
apparently only some switches get the omnipoint switch
and all others get their red clone switch
and apparently the omnipoint switch is pretty smooth
which jsut shows how bad the others are
I think I'm gonna order the g pro wireless
expensive oof
get g305 reee
to small
Get whatever, just needs to be a Logitech with Hero sensor and Lightspeed wireless
Everything* else on the market is crap
there are good wired mice
but logitech wireless is very good
the g305 is just like a third the price of the gpw
What's the GPW now?
Got mine for 90โฌ
Look for rabate codes ๐ค
yeah ill probably just get the g305 u rite
i am claw gripper so mouse size isnt that big of a deal since i barely touch it anyway
and i really dont want the 502 or 903 that have too many buttons and cracks for hand grease to build up in
thats what turned me off from the glorious model O is that cleaning all those holes would be awful
simplicity is better
Another big plus for the 305 is the battery life
I'd say I'm a heavy user and 60 hours on a g pro internal battery would likely start diminishing significantly within a couple years
cute doggo ๐
@latent mural btw, my hands are 20x11.5
I'd ve interested in a mouse with 1 more button
Also, I wonder why we don't have more mice with three full buttons, like the G600
anyone know how to make ElementaryOS change volume on my speakers instead of the hdmi sound output automatically on startup?? It plays audio through the speakers but doesnt control the volume for them.
in pavucontrol, if I want my mic to work I have to set it as an output too :/
so it controls the mic output volume by default but plays audio through the speakers
whenI turn on the PC, it plays the audio through my speakers but when I want to change volume it thinks the microphone is an audio output and changes the volume for that instead of the speakers
so I must go to sound settings and select my speakers as the sound output
i know...
the buttons on my keyboard
this is the only OS i had this issue on
they were off always
I didnt touvh those
the buttons on my mouse work for media controls
hmm
right
idk what else would be picking them up
I just know that my mouse buttons (the ones I assigned to act as media buttons a while ago) work fine
yeah its there
same
character limit ๐
hang on
wrong order...
its set up the way i want it to be when I turn on the PC
Yup
the audio device that plays audio is the Chroma speakers, but the volume changes on the microphone
and when I go into sound settings the microphone is selected as the sound output
ah....
I see
i havent changed keybindings at all
they are off
what OS you use?
they always have for me except on Manjaro i3
odd :/
and the media buttons on my mouse always worked too except again on Manjaro i3
Manjaro anythiing else they worked on
Gnome, plasma, mate
I guess, also I think for the media keys , the mouse sends commands directly to the OS or whatever
cause I dont need software for those prgrammed keys to work
I hope Manjaro i3 works with my speakers, cause last time I could never get it to work with my bluetooth speaker
cause I wanna go back to i3
so badly
I tried to install the Regolith Linux PPA, it installed and I logged into the Regolith session and nothing happened, I immedaitely got logged out again
but the theme on my main desktop was changed and the wallpaper too the the regolith default theme and wallpaper
Odd
im using ElementaryOS, who knows what they have done
it uses its own Pantheon desktop :PP
my friend is complaining that Chrome doesnt have a dark theme
I then send her a screenshot of chrome being in its dark theme
<insert suprised Pikachu image>
told my friend to do a little pea for the thermal paste on his first build
and he sends me this ๐
I mean looks fine, but I'd ask him what kind of peas he's eating
Just tell him to spread it out and wipe some of the excess if needed
nah pressure from mounting the cooler spreads it good enough
it really doesn't
tends to make a couple degrees difference
spreading it out manually is more important that the amount
It'd be worth 10 degrees, imo. Not so much for 2 or 3 unless you're hitting high temps already
It takes like 30 sec to spread it out..
I will take a free cooling upgrade for 30 sec of my time
But it's basically negligible unless you're already at high temps
It's nice to be absolutely sure that the whole ihs is covered with an even layer, though
I guess. Not sure whyd it'd matter though for 99% of users
considering the amount of arguing that goes on about thermal paste amount,
it might be useful for people to know that it doesn't matter if you do it right by spreading it out
Let's be honest, the people that are concerned about thermal paste amount would take that extra time
"do it right" is highly subjective though
"why do i only have 8gb ram
Actually nothing hurting about it
Fractal design core 500 is pretty badass
Fit a full size GPU, CPU cooler, and power supply in a box about the size of a shoebox for boots
There have been plenty of tests
Dot or surface spread end up within one degree of another, if done correctly
Pea size has a chance to not cover the edges, spread has a chance for air bubbles
slightly bigger pea is bae
Didn't Linus and gn both test a bunch of ridiculous thermal methods?
DerB8uer did the most conclusive testing of pastes, I think
And there was one test about which of 8 methods was the best
i thought you just empty a whole small tube per cooler install :p
@zenith sonnet Der8auer
I've always done peas like shown above with zero problems. Heck I use more for my loop to ensure good contact across the entire top.
Prio 1 is to make sure as much of the surface as possible is covered
Prio 2 is to make sure the layer is as thin as possible
Mounting pressure with adequate viscosity should make sure of that
As long as you don't use obviously unreasonable amounts
How much performance gain is to be expected if you use actively chilled water to keep the CPU at 30ยฐC instead of 50 under full load?
Does that give you another 100 or 200Mhz OC?
we usually ask you these kind of questions...
๐ค
3950X was able to hit 5.1GHz all core at - 150ยฐC
I can't tell how much of that is to be attributed to the voltage, and how much to the lower temperature
Ryzen overclocking is going to be different though
All core OCs are a thing of the past
depends on the chip really
if you get a lucky bin you can probably get more than 200 mhz out of 20c
Making the temp so low tends to help with hotspots
Average temp might be fine, but a small group of transistors might locally overheat, causing an oc to fail
Kryonaut not good enough?
I hear LN2 is a good thermal compound
Man I should make a liquid co2 drip cooling system
Liquid co2 is so cheap I can get it for free
I just constantly keep my phone between 50-60 if I can
@feral jolt How do you get CO2 to be liquid?
You could also just get a peltier element to cool the water
Well, it's probably better to use a compressor
Peltier isn't really meant for anything that isn't both low heat output and extremely tight on space.
It's also good for things where maintaining a thermal threshold is more important than removing heat from the system
Like small refrigerated spaces
Definitely not the case for a cpu, it's allowed to get a bit warm as long as you get the heat away
I'm aware it's not particularly efficient
There are options that are way more energy efficient
The main issue for the cpu situation is the thermal runaway
Since peltier gets less efficient the more heat there is to dissipate, which is the opposite of what heat pipes or water cooling does.
You would, if anything, use it to cool the water flowing to the CPU
It's not a good idea to cool the CPU directly that way
It might be useful to tightly control the water temperature
But then you need a bigger radiator
Could be viable if you have room for those rads
Room is rarely the problem
If you need more, get an O11 Dynamic XL
You can no longer use ANYTHING 32 bit on the next Ubuntu
Fuck you
That literally makes gaming non existent
Just don't upgrade
Most games drop 32bit support/clients nowadays, because it's not worth the effort to keep them running for less than 2% non 64bit capable systems
That's not my point
My point is that most new people to linux will always go for ubuntu
And if you can't fucking install steam
They won't give linux a try
And Arch and manjaro won't be too everyone's liking
So the people who already play in ubuntu will either have to switch to Debian or Arch or Solus or fedora
long term support version will still support 32bit and it also shouldnt bee too hard for steam to make a 64bit version
then again steam doing extra effort doesnt seem likely
Linux mint is based on Ubuntu
It'll have the same issues
Every distro forked from Ubuntu will unless the devs try to find a way to keep support for the 32 bit libraries
I saw 5 people already on Reddit spout bullshit towards manjaro saying they get 15fps in games compare Ubuntu where they had 100 fps
Then everyone bashed them asking if they installed the Nvidia drivers ahah
Or Solus
Solus is amazing for gaming on
I used the gnome edition for almost a year
laughs from his windows pc
Have fun with your bloated and spy filled OS
can't really do anything about it if I need to work on windows anyway
Idk much about nouveau drivers
When you load manjaro up from USB you have this menu that shows up before the live environment begins to load up
You can select to use non free drivers here and then it'll install the Nvidia drivers when you install the OS
Hold up
Did you install Gentoo on your own?
Or use something like Sabayon?
You spent hours installing it??
Woah damn
:O
What desktop you choose?
Ahhh
I see
What suite of apps then?
Ahh
Palemoon is the default browser for Manjaro i3
shudders
It is....
Chrome and Firefox work perfectly fine on i3
And I haven't tested any other browser
I'd like to see how surf would handle it
Let me guess
You use text based browser?
I feel the same way
But you kinda need a m mouse in a browser
So all those people who use i3 have to deal with a mouse for that xxd
Oh
You are a systemD hater
I just went back to Plasma today
It seems smoother when playing Minecraft than last time
There is no frame stuttering
Not laggy
But stuttery when moving the mouse but not due to lag
Not on gnome
Playing Minecraft on gnome desktop is so damn smooth I got nothin sickness once
Motion**
Nearly felt like vomiting
And never any screen tearing
The game was so smooth that the movement make me really dizzy

I had enabled vsync on the Nvidia settings also
So it was kinda locking the system to 60fps but it didn't lock the game to 60
But it felt like it was locked to 60
May have been head bobbing
But I always leave that option on
This was the only time it made me dizzy
When playing it on gnome
Even jumping was so smooth
3.32 is a great gnome upgrade
Because I used gnome a lot over the years and I never had that happen before
I get motion sick if I'm doing anything in a car other can driving or looking at the road when being a passenger
Other than**
I start feeling light headed like I could fall over if I move around too much in a moving car
If I read or on my phone
I think if you have perfect smooth 60fps in games it may cause a bit of dizzyness
Because you aren't used to seeing something so perfectly smooth all the time
Idk the reason behind it
That's my explanation
If I had a better PC I would get a higher refresh rate screen for it and see if I get dizzy from that or not
Cause with my current PC I can't push 60fps in most of the games I own
And you can't lower the resolution on ultrawide
There is no lower 21:9 resolution than 2560*1080
I mean you could restrict it to a smaller format and then have lower reolution
I have become addicted to 21:9 xd
It's great for games
And for having two apps side by side
Yeh...
I hear that awesome window manager is really great at taking advantage of double monitor setups
It's apparently the best window manager for that
But the rest are good too
what about those 49" ultrawides tho
yeah i have a 3440x1440 and love it
I can tell you from experience
If you get nauseous in a game, you have one of two problems:
a lot of button to photon delay (like its caused by vsync, GPU thread lag, etc)
or unsteady camera movement (can be headbob, microstutter, unoptimised featues,...)
Higher refresh rate universally helps reduce thr issue
I get dizzy on some games
Just don't get motion sick looool
VR only works with incredibly low latency, so devs need to make sure of that
Maybe that's why it works better for you
I have only tried VM for 20 minutes at a convention
I felt fine in it
and it was very responsive
You mean VR
I don't have my VR headset anymore :p
๐ฎ
Things I hate is stuff like GPU smoothing frames or thread lag
Buffers between the CPU and the GPU to achieve more consistent frame times by indroducing additional lag to compensate for CPU frame time variance
Vsync, of course, is just horrid
Windowed and Borderless modes indroduce additional latency due to DWM
dwm is a window manager on Linux
Windows also has one
yeh
It doesn't prevent tearing within the windows themselves
Just from the desktops POV
oh...
So your desktop, window frames, etc, those don't tear
true
It does add about 1.5 frames of latency in Borderless, and even more in Windowed modes
Free
i guess the windows store game pass beta is now 1 dollar
im downloading metro exodus right now
its 1 dollar for the first month then 4.99 a month for 100 games that rotate each month
well before it was an xbox pass not the pc pass
no, DWM renders the entire desktop vsync'd, so window content does not tear
If it does your system is broken
you got auto brightness on xd
Just constantly changing like a flash
? wtf
Also if was an accident so I unpinned
ook, thats a strange one
Building a mechanical keyboard is a great way to get something thatโs completely tailored to your needs. I built my first so-called 75 percent keyboard, whic...
This makes me sad because mine was a failure
i have the most basic ass mech keyboard and I am mostly happy with it
that said, Wooting . I want one ๐
I love the look of those low profile mech keyboard, the ones with mech switches but flat keycaps
HNNNGGG
The flat keys with no space in between lol
What like a standard laptop keyboard? But with mech switches?
kinda looks like that I guess
but the key switches are exposed kinda cause of the low profile case too
The cooler master one is about as tall as a normal keyboard, lol
It is visually appealing
yoo bad they suck
I heard it's really annoying to type on
how do they suck? they are normal mech switches
It's really easy to miss hit
the problem are the caps in that case
Yeah but aesthetics are more important amirite
I have roccat kb&m already noice
When I was a kid I imagined linux to look like windows command prompt
well
how old you now?
26
it kinda is nowadays, if you use vanilla linux
yeh it was basically that when you were a kid
xd
it still is if you install arch without a desktop or window manager
Well my friend made a linux comp like 10 years ago and the UI looked great and that's when I got learned
you got W O K E
He smart. He told me I needed to spend all my money on bitcoin NOW around that same time
oof
I had 500 dollars in my bank
hmmm how is bitcoin doing?
If I listened I'd never work another day in my life
Back then bitcoins were around 3 cents
Now bitcoin is fluctuating between 5-10k
Tbh I probably would have spent it on the dark web
You can get weed anywhere and it's also one of the least safe things to ship due to the bulk and smell
darknet mystery boxes
the 121 is dark
hmm ok
and the 100 jsut has no wristrest i believe
they are all tactile btw
better than mx brown
just live in a real country
or make a quick trip to hamburg
thatll cost more
Razer Synapse cant find my speakers.... -.- even on Windows
it did ONCE but never again
so now I cnat change the rbg on the base of them
fun times
that is what you get for buying razer lol
I like the design and sound quality
and im ok with the breathing effect for the rgb, but I wanna make it trans colored xd
cause I wanna do that on my mouse too
cant do it on my keyboard, that only has blue lights -.-
do they work with project aurora?
was dat?
rgb programm
idk
is compatible with many rgb products
i see
like razer logitech wooting etc
if the software designed to work with razer cannot find my razer speakers then idk if that will find them either -.-
rip
wait could it because they plugged into usb 2?
unlikely
because I use USB 3 for my kb and mouse
maybe thats why the software cant find them
unlikely cause the OS knows the exact model that they are
razer
xd
i like the sound KK
and they work really well in games
I can hear where things are around me really good
My new machanical numpad
Thats no wooting pffft
This project is KILLING ME .......I feaking HATE making GUI in Java -.-
I hate GUI ;-;
did you see the news that we most likely hear more about Super on 2/6 ?
with the target for release being 6/7 so a day before amd
^^^
I feel so sorry for Mojang ;-;
Needing to code Minecraft in it all day everyday
I don't feel sorry for mojang
They could easily stop it if they wanted
But they know they'll lose money
No sane person buys windows 10 Mc
It is
Also it's not windows only but I, pretty sure you can't use that license on all platforms
I misunderstood
I thought hours meant windows only as In mp
No, The language used in Bedrock was decided by Microsoft
Mojang dont control that version
I tihnk so
@proud nacelle You can install the Android version of Bedrock on Linux :DD It works FLAWLESSLY on Manjaro :DD
It takes forever to install but it works ๐
Yes
It works with the Bedrock versions also
it is a Bedrock version
There's been a mc android for years
Correct
mm when it was first made
it supports behaviour packs which is a close as you can get on Bedrock
It never will support mods
they change mobs and things
Yes and you have to pay
$$$$
Windows 10 edition is a scam
Which is why java edition still rules
Alll java edition owners get bedrock
There's a reason
No one uses it
BTW, to fully use the Android Minecraft port on Linux, you need to log into the launcher with your google account for it to make sure you own the game on Android
and of you wanna play with friends and have all the shit you bought on the store you need to login to the game with yuor microsoft account
It doesnt crash for me
unless I mess up with shaders
ah xd
Ok
:PP
at least you dont wanna use Pulchra , that resource pack wants 40GB of GPU ram and 256GB of system RAM
it is something mad like 2048x2048 resolution
^^
ikr
you can get lower res versions of it too
For pristine blocks ๐
I found so nice shaders today
and guess what?!!
my shitty PC can run them above 60FPS at all times!!
even looking at a lot of water
Sildur ๐
they are the default enhancement shaders
this is what I mean when I say the GUI for my project is terrible
the rest of the porject is in JOptionPane ๐

Maybe it's finally time for me to get a RasPi even though I'm not sure what to do with one
Ooooooooooooo I want one too now xd
would be a media tool for me
personally
when my money comes in
i think i might get one
Wait this is unfair
It can have two HDMI out but my PC only as one ;_;
Yeh!!
Does it have enough processing power to manage a 400 Mbit connection?
It's like a third of the price of that Zotac mini PC
It has onboard gigabit so, I would assume it can handle gigabit
The zotac is โฌ260 in NL though ;-;
Rasbian is basically light AF debian right?
yes, that 16mb OS
or is it 12mb? idek anymore
its insane how much they crammed into that
a couple of 3d games and whole freaking desktop suite of apps
๐ฎ
@earnest osprey
Just because it has Gigabit ethernet doesn't mean it can manage it ๐
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ5-dc9lax0&t=24s
So called "gaming" routers promise you the best performance, but in many cases you are better off buying an enterprise router which might even cost less, or ...
I am aware that basically no routers can handle their rated speeds.
But I figure the new rpi is probably faster than the compute in most routers.
They should all the able to handle their rated speeds, the ethernet chip should be able to handle it alone
The difficulty comes from trying to manage the data stream, which 99% of routers can't even do (properly)
Good thing the pi is very configurable
Most routers don't do very high speeds on the WAN side. If you have fiber, you need to be aware of this
i drilled holes in my house and got wired internet to my room
I did that po in my old apartment. This one has ducts, for blowing/pulling cables through. But the WiFi is good enough for casual gaming for right now. Got furniture to build first
Yeah my wifi is perfectly fine for gaming. But downloading games at 8x the speed is nice
We've taped many meters of ethernet cables to our floors to wire up our flat
Looks...good
Gaming on wifi is easily managed if you use a phone app and find the unused channels
Steady connection with no interference is all you need. The total up/down is relatively smol
i know that feeling wanger
the worst part is when you have to get to the other side of a corridor
and your ceiling height is like 3 meters
So Intel announced Integer Scaling coming to Gen11 which is the Graphics used in the next intel CPU's
so we kinda know a release window for them through that lol
we don't really have outside walls everywhere
my flat has a really weird layout
yea
makes sense
I mean they do, we'll get them next year
but its nice to see them listening to community feedback that amd/nvidia ignored for years
didn't expect it from intel but it's a good sign for the graphics stuff aside from raw hardware performance
nothing huge, unless you can make use of it, intel said drivers in August will allow integer scaling on their gen11 graphics
but then again, Intel listening to feedback and implementing stuff I guess is huge lul
integer scaling
I'll find the reddit post 1 sec
first post after the sticky
dont think anyone can tell you why not
Yes? Next year is the release for the consumer cards
Bc thatโs kinda old news by now
Thatโs why I wasnโt sure if you meant something else
Lol
That thread reads like
'Pls give us Nvidia cards at lower price'
I don't think intel will be truly relevant on the GPU market unless they keep going until their second revision of the graphics driver
didnt read anything aside that first post lul
bc reddit makes me lose braincells
and based on how many people they hired for the gpu devision it's certainly not a "here have this and if its not good we're out"
Their drivers are still years behind everyone else's though
And as we know, GPU drivers are half the story
and knowing is half the battle
Setting up your own dedicated Minecraft server is super easy with Ansible and a VPS like Linode! Coding videos are typically unpleasant to produce for a vari...
this is really cool
They "leaked" prices
21.06 was just a rumour, but 02.07 seems more likely now
bc next rumor says 06.07. is the release date, so they have it a day before amd
That just be... I don't recall the word..
?
it would make sense to release the same day as amd cpus
then people doing new builds would grab a nvidia gpu and a amd cpu
Well, true
Even PC building guides start to say 'intel is done for, buy AMD at any tier' already
which is stupid lmao
as much as I think this will be a great launch, recommending anything before reviews is dumb
the tables have turned, intel 14nm is the new bulldozer. im predicting it will become cheap enough to stay competitive
maybe
we don't know yet
but it is unlikely that intel has a secret desktop chip
and the 9900k psuhes 14nm desktop at it's limit
back in 2013 i paid 140 dollars for a bulldozer fx8350 + motherboard combo and had no regrets. even though it was shitty it was best performance per dollar
they do, the 9900KS
the 9900KYS
also kills your wallet
for worse performance
if the leaked ryzen 3000 numbers are true
intel might just abandon the desktop cpu market for a couple years
unlikely
they still have the bigger market share
and especially on server AMD could destroy them
with more cores
i just dont see them having a good hand to play here so i expect them to fold
Epyc rome seams to be great
no sense in manufacturing cpus at a loss
they still sell
because of fanboys
that say "I won't buy AMD"
"I had a laptop with AMD once, it was terrible"
when they had some mobile bulldozer with integrated graphics etc
the game has changed and idiots can google whats the best processor and amd will come up
a slight loss would still be worth it, just to keep the marketshare so once sunny cove or whatever comes and is good people can stay with the same company
still are fanboys
yea
imagine having to buy a new plattform for every new high end chip
yeah but how many people do you know that are diehard fanboys. might account for 10% of the market share
even though the last 4 used the same socket
10% of the market share is more than enough to survive on it
amd never gave up on it
sure but the other 90% are not people who google on their own to find whats best
even though bulldozer was really terrible at the end
the vast majority relies on what they heard for the last years, or buys pre build for whatever their money gets them and looks fancy
bulldozer was a good buy because they sold them at like 15% margins lol
they were too slow at the end
not bad for the 100โฌ they cost
but too weak to be relevant imo
i was able to play a lot of games at 1080p 60hz ultra without issue on bulldozer
can still buy the wraith edition for 64โฌ
not saying they can't perform well for most games
but they usually bottleneck a modern gpu in most titles
yeah it does suck though. my friend has a fx-6300 and is broke and im trying to convince him to grab a 3770k or something for a cheap upgrade.
3770k has a 60% faster single core speed
Like the son of a friend
Bought a 2070 last week
He wouldn't even consider a 5700 XT instead, because 'never again AMD'
yikes buying a card last week is stupid
they had a bad experience with one product
because they expected tons of performance out of a display adapter
He also wanted to buy some intel CPU this week or something
anyway my internet friend has a bunch of old intel ddr3 era chips for sale if anyone is interested he has good prices
why would anybody buy now
just wait 2 weeks until prices drop
he could easily save 100-150โฌ
if not more
hes selling chips for like 50-70 usd
for those old ones
3xxx's and 4xxx's
has a stockpile of ddr3 and mobos to go with it
would only buy ddr3 ecc
hes also got server stuff too
old xeons from that era
im thinking of asking him for a little something to put together a streaming rig
they have to handle encoding well
shouldnt have any problem with a 3770k encoding right?
i was also planning on getting a capture card if that makes any difference
Oh btw got that g305 today
It's a lot bigger than I expected
Ye olde m65 feels very similar
the wireless advantage is huge though
G305 is great
It's a wonderful mouse
It was just a little to small for me however
So I ended up with a g403 instead
Which I love
I have big hands
Love my g305
And g403 is out of question for me becauee of the hump
Ye I loved it to but it kept hurting after a bit of use
The bump is what I needed tbh
How did you grip it btw
True
Probably claw
I am claw finger gripper
oh, and without stupid holes all over the shell disclaimers: 1. i have had email correspondence with the few people involved in this for a few years 2.
I want a raspberry pie 4 so much
Same tbh
huh, wonder if they'll end it the day before we get info about the 20 series refresh
well it might a move from evga to get rid of the current rtx inventory before the new cards come out
so they aren't stuck on them and can do some good pr moves
WUT
A trade in promosion
im 100% doing this
if its alright

wot
only 900 and 700 series
st0p
Welp
to much emojis
@karmic grail seen the A1 Plus?
evga is helping you buy not selling you rtx crap
1000 series was better than 2000 series
eh
in comparison to previous generation sure
cards itself are better and have some nice new stuff, even if you ignore rt core entirely
NVENC is amazing on them
My setup
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Graphics Card = $150 Credit
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Graphics Card = $100 Credit
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Graphics Card = $75 Credit
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Graphics Card = $100 Credit
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card = $75 Credit
Any EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Card = $50 Credit
@urban salmon weeb trash
Don't buy dated Nvidia cards :p
"for a limited time only" darn really wanted to know the exact date it ends
buy a 760 for $20
also kinda sucks it has to be an evga model and not any old gtx card
Maybe the other manuf will do it too?
doubt it, seems kinda random to do for most of them
AMD launches Navi
Nvidia: "Look at us! ... Please?"
eh, if nvidia thought more of navi this would've happend earlier
I will only upgrade again, when I can get a 40% uplift on performance from my undervolted/overclocked + sharpened timings Vega 56, which is basically 6-10% faster in games than the Gtx 1080 at stock. All that for under 350โฌ, which is what I paid for my Powercolor "Red Devil" Vega 56. So I assume we will get that in two generations, since AMD and nVidia seem to be dead set on shifting mid range GPUs 150โฌ above what you had to pay before the mining boom. This market is a shitshow currently
40% uplift in performance what
what I said
my next GPU has to have 40% performance more
than my Vega 56 overclocked + undervolted with sharpened timings
oh I thought you meant your 56 got 40% more performance after it lmao
@urban salmon I approve of the PONPONPON
oh no
anyway to make this code better?
it takes in 3 values from the user and detirmines things about what type of triangle and if its right angled, but it has to check if its a triangle first
how do you figure out that its a triangle from 3 floats
wouldn't you at least need 3 vec2 or whatever it is for that?
oh wait is that sidelengths?
okay makes more sense than 3 1D points in space lul
yeh xd
I am really bad at switch loops, but that might be the only way to move the output statements to a new method?
I mean a switch case is basically the same as a list of if options
whut
and since you wouldn't switch based on a single variable but a result, idk if it would even be better for optimization
its a console app, idk if we need optimisation ๐
well a switch case takes an argument and depending on what it is, it does something, so you basically have a lot of "if(argument == case)"
how do I implement this in another method from the returns of this checker method?
not sure what you mean, a different way to check what it is?
or as in making it a string function and returning the string?
I want to move all the System.out statements to a different method
yea make it return a string instead of void
then I need a switch in the main method?
I mean you can do it that way, but you could just make it like this System.out.println(checker(x,y,z));
and then do this in checker()?
yup
and you dont want the system.out in main?
I dont want it in checker
oh yeah then this should be fine
ehh you could also just call it directly in main?
if you have the float values there, idk the entire code
You're assuming the sides are connected?
that's an assumption you have to make I mean
there is a math rule to check if 3 lengths, if joined, will form a triangle
if they all cant join together it isnt one
anything with 3 sides is a triangle though
not really, if you go by side length
yeh
not a right triangle
it cant be a triangle, the sides arent long enough
no its not a triangle, you cant connect those sides lol
^^
whaaaaaaat
lemme get a drawing hang on
that's the definition of a triangle
if one side has a length of 5
and the other 2 are 1 each
you cant make up the distance to connect them
exactly
oh so you're saying because of extra distance it's not only a triangle
a triangle still exists there is just runoff
or if a side is too short also
idk what happens in the code if one side is longer than it needs to be
what not, its not a triangle, its just 3 lines in my example
you cant combine them into any geometric shape
yeh, but if they were to be connected, could they form a triangle
I said sides and should've said vertices
or would a side be too short
the assumption is, they are connected, if they can make a triangle
if they are connected, yeh
so it needs to be looked for if its possible based on the length
the math rule to check for this is two sides are longer than the third one
yeah
this basically
I mean that's how you check it
