bruuhhhh
can't be more boring
is that a G15
it is @karmic grail i'm at my parents place :p
I wanted to get a G15 before I got the W1 just cause it had that screen
But couldn't find a nicely priced one so I full splurged on the W1
you legit get all the screen features of the g 15 with logitech gaming software and a phone
and with your desk you couldn't move your mouse
shhhhhh don't do me dirty like that
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @latent mural
if I did get a G15 I would actually have to go back to my old way where the mouse is on the top level of my table
just glue an extra rubber foot on it and have it hangover slightly
Cleaning time... Why do keyboard catch so much hair..? 😫
because it's not a wooting :p
Hmm, doesn't help that I have long hair. 😂
so far most of the wooting owners, live near amsterdam or eindhoven :p
if i'm not mistaken that's close to arnhem right?
Yup.
i am very shit at geography
Visited Erik already, was fun.
Well, most of the time they are, yeah. especially now with the Twooting.
all three of them are nice 😃
They're cool dudes. :>
I really love the way this company works, really want a keyboard from them.
Though I'm not sure what keycap set to throw on.
i like the wooting keycaps :p
and i use BE Azerty layout
i don't really get a choice
Thing is, I'm spoiled with Signature Plastics keycaps, once you start...
Ah, typing a lot of French too, or just preferring that layout?
signature plastics only has sorry excuses of an ISO layout
as almost all manufacturers/shops
Yeah, fat enter life is a difficult one.
You mean per design?
nah
DE ISO for example
has completely different special characters
in addition to ö ä ü
all number keys are different
Ah, not available on SP sets, yeah.
not available on most sets
pmuch any set actually
One thing one sadly has to do when diving deeper into this hobby is getting used to it that they pretty much can only use US ANSI.
not really
imma just start my own cap manufacturer in germany
and sell caps for shit loads
cause made in germany
Derp, meant ANSI.
you mean like GMK?
those fuckers are german
and have no DE ISO keycap set
since they only make on order
no i mean like no other company
When something is too niche... :/
ow that keycap set i have is from GMK @latent mural
ye
they should make DE ISO
I found out that ducky still sells their doublshot PBT keycap sets
but only with a keyboard
Well, I luckily only need 1U keys. 😂
not backlit
its just non existent
Gave up on backlight too. 😅
fuck the ducky ones theyre out of stock all the time
ik
100€
has a full set
ya no
i dont want a useless kbd
that i have to throw away
Hierbei ist die 1.000 Hertz Report-Rate des USB-Anschlusses von Hilfe, der jede Millisekunde Daten von der Tastatur zum PC sendet.
good marketing
try selling a keyboard which doesn't stand out
ok how about dont sell the kbd sell the caps
Wait alot of wooting owners live in Amsterdam?
there is like no info on this on this error
what version of the game are u using?
and di u run the config for the game and set it to direct3d?
iirc it uses glide
I have, there's an option for vulkan but I don't have a gpu
use direct3d or nglide depending on how new/old ur graphics is
Don't get the option
there should be an nglide_cfg then
weird i remember it having glide aswell
does it not offer borderless window/borderless fullscreen mode?
the game is too old for that
Is opengl worth ever using?
yes
But it's so fucking slow
not by design
Naw. Don't want to compromise the heatsink.
This should be fine for a stock LAN PC.
Maybe a mild OC
you wont be adding extra voltage
I would be cutting off heatsink metal though
Heh. I'll stick with this for now. Already used up my dumb luck for the year I have a feeling.
Now I just gotta file the gap I made less sharp, so I don't cut my AIO tubing too bad, and fit all of the loose cables.
It lives! Time to install Windows and do some quick benchs,
Evil evil evil
@karmic grail i meant for the owners in the netherlands, not overall
Woop woop. SFF PC is up and running.
84C on GPU and 50-60C on CPU in a stress test. I'd call that LAN ready af.
SFF?
small form factor
i thought it meant Sexy Furry Friend and i got all excited for nothing
Xd
usually it;s smol furry friend
84 seems a lot though
you need (even) more noctua fans running at 100% clearly
85 isn't high for a card that basically has a big coin for a heatsink 😄
It's not a 2 or 3 fan card.
Case in point.
Who has experience applying heat shrink tubing to a wire with ends a bit larger than the wire in the middle and what's the preferred method or applying it?
Does cutting it work fine?
Mostly looking for rigidity over external protection.
it's a usb-c to 3.5mm adapter with a small wire in between ends
you can cut it yes, but thicker ends should not be an issue, it should just wrap around
my highly skilled fix 😄
You maybe need heatshrink with a higher shrink ratio
yeah the inner wire is just under 1/2 the size of the outer piece so it may just work fine with a 2:1 shrink ratio
I didn't realize the sizes were that close
@solar hinge u still need a somewhat decent gpu?
sure
oooh
its a tad bit slower than a gtx 980
obviously depends on work load
it always does
i have 2 r9 280 that i dont know what to do with
mine some random crypto
not worth, ill spend more on power
sell it to a miner that doesn't know that :p
which website are you using?
thats expensive
Sold at 89$
I sold mine for that too.
290X must still be decent. I have a 390 and it's still getting by with any games I throw at it. It would probably do a whole lot better at 1080p too
^290x/390x are about as good as a rx 480/580
4gb max
had a 8gb 390x
not like you really need 8 for what you usually run on those cards anyway, they arent that great above 1080p in most cases
there are games that make sue of more than 4gb
and the cards are fast enough for that
make use or allocate more than 4?
make use
after some work i got it to work,
glorious 3840x1620 12bit, full RGB HDR
shame the only game I have that runs in HDR refuses to launch
I can push the refresh rate further im sure, at the cost of hdr, but i dont want to push my luck and the tv dying or something
still have no idea why any custom resolutions started working properly
Do Seagate hard drives really die faster than WD hard drives
depends
the enterprise ones are far better than the wd ones
the cheaper ones are kind of random
some die faster some exceed wd hdds
So what should I be looking for then
Should I be looking at WD black
Or should I be looking at Barracuda hard drives from Seagate
for a normal consumer WD black is prob the best bet
I do a lot of reading and writing... Definitely more than a typical person giving my habits
So I'm kind of hoping for a reliability perhaps something designed for 24/7 performance
so either WD Red or WD Purple then
red is for NAS and Purple for surveilance
both are for more read/write heavy things asnd 24/7 operation
i might suggest the Red in this case
cause Purple i think has some options that youll never need like disabling CRC checks etc
They were pretty good they lasted forever
2040mhz core 8300mhz memory.. can I consider a okaish oc on a watercooled 2080 ti? or should I return it and try my luck once more ?
No u
yes im also a piece of trash
A very nice piece of trash

so uh... I think i need to buy a better GPU.
yeah no clue about that dudebro
using anything on linux
come on dude. AMD is even shitting the bed lately.
Nvidia is great on Linux
Manjaro automatically installs the newest drivers
When you install Manjaro
i dont want to support their practices
Ray-traced Minecraft? But why?
@plush summit shaders don't work well (at all for some shaders) on AMD GPUs due to their shoddy OpenGL support and it's not something they're going to put effort into correcting at this point since they pushed vulkan instead
this link has a little bit of info on AMDs poor OpenGL support https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/wiki/OpenGL-and-AMD-GPUs---All-you-need-to-know
being better doesn't really help when it comes to titles that use opengl
intel has the same issues with OpenGL but only on Windows as they're special apparently
but i dont want to support thm
their Windows OpenGL drivers are awful, their Linux ones are fine
Glad very little uses openGL
And the stuff that does, runs fine in AMD/WIndows
And their Windows drivers are great
vulkan is everything dx 12 should of been
its weird to see games run slower on dx 12 in 2019
compared to dx 11 that is
Weirdly enough, on Nvidia, DX12 performance is the same or slightly lower, but on AMD, is often significantly better, sometimes making one card compete against a card of a higher tier
Exceptions apply, of course
I'm sad vulkan didn't really take off. It's implementation in Doom was fantastic
A few years ago already, it was said that Nvidia cards are basically 'DX11 ASICs'
AMD should be pushing Vulkan much harder
But I guess Nvidia pushes their proprietary crap even harder
That's the thing that makes me pick AMD over Nvidia or Intel in case of a near-tie
When they make something good, they are like 'you all get something good' and Nvidia be like 'but muh wallet...'
@zenith sonnet there's a reason AMD gain in DX12 and NVIDIA rarely do
I want to pick AMD, but I also need a card that can do 1440p 144hz consistently, with some overhead and AMD doesn't really have that atm
it's because NVIDIAs DX9/10/11 drivers were already getting the full potential from the hardware
whereas AMDs were not
Freesync vs Gsync, RTX vs that other implementation that's in the works, Vulkan, etc
@zenith mirage Your almost always gonna be CPU bottlenecked
I've been using WQHD 120 Hz since 2013, and 144Hz since 2015
And even my 290X was rarely the problem until recently
It's always the CPU
5820K @4.0GHz got about half the power that you really need
For an older game like BL2 after optimisations
...
Well, I'll do what I can with overclocking then but I know for certain that my GPU isn't up to scratch anymore
What are you running?
390, so basically a 290X :p
Take Apex for example, my CPU dips in the 100-110s, but my VII is at like 50% load
I don't mind too much atm since it's mostly multiplayer games that I play and I don't mind playing them on low details
Honestly CPU overclocking is beyond my peanut brain. I can do so much with computers, but that's always eluded me
That and memory OC'ing
But generally, UE is an issue
Never seen a game on it that can maintain >100 FPS on my processsor
taking a cursory glance at apex legends benchmarks at 1440p/High seems to reveal no obvious sign of a CPU bottleneck holding the GPU back
if the lows were down to a CPU bottleneck I'd expect the higher end GPUs to all have pretty much the same lows
and since the 2080 Ti is getting above the 2080 and the VII is around the 2080 which is all what you'd expect, I can't see how yours would be at 50% load
Interesting
But razer
Hnnng
I ordered one
I might just resell it
Razer orange switch
So quiet clicky
Ah
Those are still inconsistent af
But at least it doesn't ping like hell, like most razer green boards do
PINGPJNGPINGPING
They have the most annoying sound
I don't know if the razer linear switch is less inconsistent
But i am sure greetech is able to fuck that up
Apparently Caseking just hasn't ordered the ISO-DE keycap set from Ducky
I don't trust Razer's QC, when they launched with the "new and improved" switched I had tonnes of friends who reported switches breaking in like a month
that and synapse is uh
suboptimal 😂
which "new and improved" version do you mean?
the 2014 one with kailh and greetech?
or after they dropped kailh
or the lk libre from bloody they use in their huntsman keyboards?
To be honest I don't think I'll even use it
Buy it, store it at home for a week and then sell
why do i like big clicky buttons so much? https://youtu.be/0m_52yN3AE0
Another of the many cheap industrial components available from China via eBay. These are commonly available because they are so widely used in Chinese factor...
noice specs
altho id rather wait for new generations of cpu's
im currently using 2080ti with 3770k 😄
That's quite the generation leap 😃
Why are you sending a string to .tostring()?
the question is
why am i passing a string into the string contructor and comverting it to string
Who knows
I never tested this before
But can you put a call to a Boolean method as the condition to a for or while loop in Java?
As in for(hasName())
Actually a while loop makes more sense here
But yehh
they for keyword works like this
for (:EXPRESSION:)
where :EXPRESSION: can be anything that evaluates to a boolean
so for example
while 1:0
is a valid infinite loop that doesnt do jack shit
python
in python a while loop would normally look like
while condition:
code
i hate indentation based langs tbh
Oh
You can put it in a for loop, but it‘s a while true loop basically, but you can pass in an iterator or have the result be depending on what happens in the loop body, at least in c++/c# that works
in most langs
hey guys question: Wich harddrive would you recommend betwhen those two?
Wd Black 2 TB 2003FZEX or WD RED 3TB EFRX
i'm looking to buy the one wich supposedly would last longer
red is a NAS grade drive
they are meant for 24/7 operation and constant read/write operations
thus lasting longer
but also more pricey
i guess even if i don't use it 24/ 7 it would last longer?
3tb though
only 3tb
sources
anyway WD Reds are all rated for 600.000 on/off cycles and 1.000.000h of run time
I wouldn't run a NAS drive at non 24/7
I do believe the mechanical parts are designed towards a constant spin, not on/off.
But we are taking theoretics here. A HDD can last a decade or a month.
They're just slow drives in practice. Not suited for fast access, just constant access.
also never really noticed super slow loading.... except gta5 maybe
but i think thats normal
actually moving to WD Purple soon
its just 2 6TB drives
not the best really
^ 😄
So either way I want a WD red or WD purple
Purple for Nas or red for surveillance
So both are going to last a long time
But I want the performance to so a wd black looks good on paper
Reds are good
Host of reading and writing I do it's going to be crazy
You aren't going to need performance
Unless you don't have an SSD
And with SSDs being as cheap as they are, everything that needs speed you're better off with buying one of those
Oops
just imagine red like blood cause u gonna sell kidneys to afford a nas with 40 WD Reds
I can recommend WD Reds too
I've had four 6TB Reds in my NAS and they've been operating 24/7 for a few years now
if you needed the higher throughput Red Pros are also an option, but at a premium
they're basically what Blacks are to Blues
'
accent ok
apostrophe
ya just noticed myself
lol
Im so pissed off
The software engineering lecturer wants us to use Oracle sql developer
And even though 80% of the year can't get it installed onto their laptops
She doesn't care
So most of us are using Microsoft SQL express
On our laptops and then commenting out the lines of code for each separate databse
It's so fucking stupid
We can only use Oracle in the college
to be fair, oracle knows their shit with DBs
that's a big reason people use java for database access
or at least it was, until that guy got sued BY oracle for using java commercially
But their SQL developer is so obnoxious and hard to install and use ;_;
80% of the students in this year can't get it installed
And she knows this
And doesn't give a fuck
code ur own sql developer
Why can't we use something easier like MySQL
Or the Microsoft express
That plugs right into visual studio
And you don't need to have your login name and password in plain view in source code
Oracle is fine if you do everything by the book and you pay a whole team of DBA’s to keep the shit running
Everyone else uses an open source db like mysql/mariadb or postgres
Oracle bought mysql so they wouldnt have to compete
And Mariadb is a full drop-in replacement for mysql made by the original dev of mysql
I did two years of oracle shit and got the OCA cert, but literally never used it lol
At the end of the day, sql is sql and you dont have to do a bunch of tedious shit to get mysql or postgres to run/function
postgre is love
Are the new Ryzen Pro CPUs any good?
they are downclocked versions of the normal ones
with integrated graphics
performance is pretty much as expected
Found a drive on the street
"Wd Velociraptor" or something
Managed to fit it in the A1
Very interesting
Although it has a 4.2 year power on time
lmao
39 power on count
bruh
mustve been part of a server
but 10000 rpm no wonder so fast
probably since it's such a weird power on/power hours ratio
For a 10k rpm drive it's not that loud
Or maybe I'm not loading anything off it yet
My cooler completely covers the sound of it lol
I have a 7200rpm drive and I don't notice it. I guess having headphones on helps but it's probably because everything else is louder 👌
@latent mural theres like no files on it (it was called BLANK when I plugged it in lol)
I'll try that after dinner
Could be like the Tim Martin or Theresa May accounts we've added to our Facebook chats
Nah it's the real zuck
I'm moderately surprised I fitted the 3.5" drive into the A1
i used to have a WD velociraptor
its just a 10k rpm spinning platter drive
mine failed in like 3 years
so the fact that the one you found is over 4years is... not a good sign
literally no point in them tho, they came out pre-SSD
they dont solve a relevant problem anymore
that seemed to be the case from what I saw. They hadn't had an update in ~5 years
same with WD blacks, but they seem to be doing pretty well
solid game drive, I guess
HDDs are just too slow for me. The random seek time and lack of being able to multitask is enough to make me throw a tantrum 😄
then you STILL have an HDD in there tho
I don't use it for any kind of media that actually benefits from random access though.
And I almost never use it, since most of my stuff is on NAS.
That's my main rig. Wife's PC has a 500GB SSD, my SFF has a 250GB NVME and a 500GB SSD. My laptop has the same.
6TB NAS does me plenty 😄
I mostly stream - I very rarely store.
depends, for the average consumer yes
SSDs are vastly more reliable than HDDs now.
Throw one across a room. It lives. Bump a HDD on a table and it can die 😄
Also quite impossibly good at this point.
I spend so much time replacing (half) dead HDDs in laptops for SDDs for customers. And then spend a week trying to recover their life's worth of photos, because of course you don't take backups.
literally same
HDDs by far. If an SSD loses data it's gone.
you can't do physical recovery on SSDs afaik
Only if the controller is damaged and the data itself is safe, you can recover it.
Which is thankfully usually the case.
the only problem i see is
there's two things you gotta keep in mind tho
the bigger SSDs get in the 2,5" the fewwer cycles they get
recovering deleted files off of SSDs yields way higher success rate
because of the added layers in the cells
and SSD controllers fail less than HDD controllers
We're talking writing +200GBs on an SSD daily for a few years to make an SSD fail. In theory
Knowing me my SSDs will long since be replaced before I get anywhere near that
Harddrives need to be spun up on occasion to retain data.
So... SSDs for longterm shelf or tape. HDD for something like a NAS or a PC.
From my own case I can only say my C: SSD has had no issued since I bought it 5 years and 3 months ago
Very slight magnetic shifts, yes.
Gotta refresh the surface. Which is why I keep my old iMac on a monthly on/off cycle just in case. Too much work on fixing the OS up and installing old games 😄
the nice thing as well is there are many programs that will give you SMART reports on drives
one of our tools ALWAYS checks power on hours and such on drives, to warn us if the drive is getting close to it's EOL
not broken, but just worn out
depending on the temperature an ssd can lose its data in like a week or 2
depending on anything, anything can lose it's data
they dont magically retain data forever
but tape can be extremely hard to find
so SSD Data Retention in an unpowered state at room temperature is around a year
Mhmm.
HDD vary from 10 - 18years
Roughly the same with HDDs as I recall. At least in theory.
I've had year old drives lose small bits of data. HDDs that is
I think it largely depends on th ekind of drive
yes it does
2.5 vs 3.5, number of platters, etc
Probably, yeah. I just use run of the mill 3,5" WD whatever drives.
theres also difference between enterprise and consumer grade
Only drive I picked specifically was for my NAS. WD RED just in case.
but generally consumer ssds around a year
enterprise is 3-4 years
for hdds anywhere from 10-18
depending on manufacturer
and quality
I imagine that data retention on my WD black is awful
Why are SSDs not in 3,5" though
lol
not needed rn
have you ever opened up a 2.5 ssd
I know that
altho tbh
2.5 ssds use like up 1% of their physical space
they could make em 3.5 so i dont need screws to mount em
the rest is plastic and empty spce
But, I'm just curious
the point is that i dont need screws and they could put 4 inside
meaning
1 3.5" slot can retain 4 SSDs
without screws
ultimate screwless setup
The 840 I have is 'maxed' in space from what I can see
you wanna know where else you can put them?
'your mom'?
wouldn't be my first time
or my last
I've seen 8tb drives but they probably go higher
I just have my 850 evo randomly hanging in the case :D
@proud nacelle ssds 15 or 16 depending on how much u wanna spend
like 7grand and up
hdds 14 or 15 i believe
for well under a grand
why do you say 2.5 is better?
cos of size?
2.5 seems needed these days with smaller cases tbh
95% of time you don't need more than 2.5 for an SSD
lobster just throwing around random numbers
i hate mounting 2.5" drives cause i havent seen a screw less thing in modern cases for it yet..... but my 3.5" bays are all screwless and i love it
Also 3,5" mounts use a LOT of space.
But i mean, when the 840 evo came out they had space limitations i believe, but they still didn't just make them larger and put more chips in it... Even now they just go for qvc?
my case has screw less 2,5" mounts
Most modern cases have maybe 2, 3,5" bays. 😄
nice try quinn
Gotta make room for AIOs and stuff
^
I mean @fair gull
Most cases don't allow for that though. 😃
What's the name of my case again, NZXT h700i?
Most cases aren't full towers though 😄
@reef patrol i forgot :p
But it has 2x ssd screw less mounts
laughs in SFF
Not just dangling
ok sorry its 7
just counted the bays again
altho tbh
id mount another 3.5 just laying in the bottom
or 2
laughs in enough room for big form factor
😄
Mount that insane Intel CPU in it 😄
Mining
ya mining in 2019
Intel might bring something to their gpu tech that revives SLI/whatever they call it for consumers
Bad mining
no but seriously i want enough space for gpus to mount nice and low
let me find the article
DX12 was supposed to replace SLI/CF but it hasn't happened yet.,
and basically just dip a small bit
its wccftech so take it with a grain of salt
but I think the idea could be right
basically what amd does to "glue" chips together
but for gpus
either chips on a card or multipel cards
that dont go via the PCIE protocol
i smell quadruple 2080tis
If you smell that, you're having a stroke
well thats the idea, that this is fast/good enough to not have issues and basically do a 2x scaling
just like you dont have issues with Ryzen chips having multiple dies
well yeah but on the surface you dont have something equivalent to micro stutter from it
would work very well with intel, Rada has experience on the topic and they dont need to offer a single GPU chip that beats a Titan RTX but could still have something actually good for the top end segment
I hope so
same, mostly because I'd love some competition for nvidia that is serious
also for the memes, imagine in 2 years the best pc options are AMD cpu and intel GPU
CXL isn't for gluing dies together
it's similar to NVLink that NVIDIA have
it's an interconnect between different GPUs, not on the same package
yeah was meant as something to compare it too, forgot nvlink, was a better choice
AMD are using CCIX for their take on an interconnect for their CPUs/GPUs
have they used it on a gpu yet?
or was ccix what they used for an R9 295x already?
I believe the VII was originally supposed to support it, but then never did
nothing unusual for AMD really
the next server GPUs they launch probably will
NVLink and CXL are both proprietary, CCIX is an open standard
but since that means two vendors have their own, and the other uses an open one that's some great fragmentation
the question is what will work better
and then we have nvida researching something like ccix for gpus, even more different stuff that does the same
I think for NVLink you still need to use an IBM CPU if you want it to work with the CPU too
since only IBM make supporting CPUs
then for CXL you'll need an Intel CPU
and Epyc supports/will support CCIX
as far as I'm aware NVLink is the only one of the three that doesn't run over the PCIe physical layer
so is probably the most expensive to implement in a motherboard
ye you need the bridge for it, the others go over the physical slot
nah the bridge is only for the regular PCIe GPUs to replace SLI
in the servers with IBM CPUs that implement NVLink they use entirely different connectors and it's over the motherboard
oh you meant for Teslas and such?
that's where all these technologies are primarily for
to scale out deep learning
it's the driving force behind them
NVLink GPUs are very odd
they use the connectors at the bottom, the left ones are uncovered
yeah its an interresting topic but a bit too far beyond what I know/care about
deeplearning is the future
saw what

i dont get that emote
in my opinion both AMD and NVIDIA have both given up on consumer multi GPU, the only reason NVLink fingers are on the new RTX cards is because they're based on the Quadro PCB and it's an extra feature for enthusiasts
its
with the silly-spy goggles/nose/beards
since no matter what they do multi GPU for gaming continues to have scaling problems inherent to the tech
still dont get it
Goddamn it I should of asked AMD for a RGB USB cable as well 🤦
I really don't want to ask/go through the hassle again

pad
truuuuuuuuuuuuue
oh lenovo
Yeh they do
:') stronkpad
it was ibm before right?
lol thonkpad
Old ThinkPads didn't easily get fingerprints
They all were black
Also imo lenovo made them much worse
@gentle turret Multi GPU on new AMD cards does not need a special link, it has been using PCIe for a few years now, with excellent scaling
It's still not marketed much
Last time they tried, they put 2x 480X against a 1080Ti or something
@latent mural yeah this is a new one, my friend has the exact same laptop i have but its in black.
the fingerprints on his one is horrible and he has sweaty hands so its even worse for him
A poor craftsman blames his tools
There is nothing wrong with PCIe
Any information can be passed through it if done correctly
@zenith sonnet yes I'm fully aware it uses the PCIe lanes for it on AMD, the last time they mentioned it was the 2xRX 480 versus a 1080, which was a meme for ages due to them claiming the 480s were beating the 1080 whilst only being at "50% load"
which of course, was absolute BS
and was in ashes of the benchmark anyway
what's that person mean by everything takes 7 years to download
have they tried the epic launcher?
I assume she has crappy wifi and thinks it's steam?
a 24MB fortnite update took me 30 minutes to install
Oo
not even due to downloading, it downloaded instantly
i can download full speed 40mb/s on steam
it just took 30 minutes to actually install
and then previously a 1.5GB fortnite update also took 30 minutes to install
no matter the size it seems to take 30 minutes to install
and yea, I max out my connection via steam too
Im using c# to send an update query to an oracle database
How do I automatically get the memID from the the data grid and put it into the query??
update golfmembers set memstatus = 'I' where memid = (this is where I want to get the memid from the data grid)
Yeh I want to pull it that memid from the selected row
Idk how to make that automatically put the memid into the query
use template strings
Huh??
string memId = "19774102973401234";
someQuery.get($"UPDATE golfmembers SET memstatus = 'I' WHERE {memId}");
Ooohhh
some people call it template strings, template literals or string interpolation
I have this delete statement too
I think this should work
It worked in Microsoft SQL server
yikes
whenever i have projects in python or js the first rules i set is to use template strings
instead of concatenation
cause
FUCK CONCAT
Will DGview.SelectedCells.ToString() get the selected row from the data grid?
Wait
No
It won't return the memid ;_
DGview.CurrentCell.RowIndex;
should do the trick
without the semicolon obviously unless you use it in an assignment
did u log the strings themselves
as in store the query string before executing and log it
Yeh
so u can manually execute it and test
as u can see memid is invalid
log the string and manually execute it in the db
Yay!!
Adding a member and removing works!!!
Now I need to sort out updating a member
Now I need to find another lab room to work in
thats not despacito
@wheat plume what about for people who like vore
only 3 gb ram usage with your browser
I use chromium
I use firefox
O?
Let's use more than 3gb :^)
I gtg work on this shit ;_;
Talk later :p
^that or Cloudapp
which I prefer (even though it's small fee) cause of ease of multiple users
you could start by telling us what that is
G Pro Wireless
Why do you need two?
Why do you need one of these overpriced mice anyway
two mice for two hands obviously
and I dont think they are really overpriced, it's the only great wirless mouse we really have currently
I get a second one
since my first one has the doubleclicks
thanks omron
my second one will have the same problem
what does that do?
just so i can practice with a friend cause he doesnt understand how to calculate subnet and the first address usable
its basically a small tool to practive subnetting by hand
oohhh
which is smth routers and pcs usually automatically calculate
didn't read the title
it has 2 modes one is "easier" than the other
and it auto generates stuff and checks it
I hate how the random IPs look like
why
who uses completely random numbers?
true
so ya its just to practice and so they understand it
people in networking class
na im pretty sure they get their cisco cert and their fancy routing equipment does it for them
even my low life unifi router does it
idk we just had to config it in packet tracer
and we were allowed to use any calculator of our choice since "you will never need this to be done by hand"
literally what my teach told me years ago
oh btw did i tell you
its a class for economy students
dont ask me why they get programming, databases and networking
I'd offer help but I haven't done it in like...4-5 years
Oo
Oh no. Subnets
^^^
Yeah subnets suck
Once everyone moves to IPv6, then the fun begins
memorizing those adresses will suck
with IPv6 we luckily hand out entire subnets and not IPs
thats left to the routers
@wheat plume i can give you a run down if u want
i could also give u the tool i wrote for training
Yeah good thing IPv6 is widely used oh wait
2019 on a VDSL2 connection from CenturyLink. Only given a v4 address and the only support for v6 the modem appears to have is via 6rd tunnels
Of which none are configured out of the box
I can't ;_; got so much shit and only today to do it
uh oh. Sounds like somebody is a wait til the last day to do shit and turn it in person
No ;_;
I had three project fully working using Microsoft SQL express
But she doesn't want that
She wants us to use Oracle sql developer
Which I can't get installed on my laptop and idk how to connect to it with the software I'm making
80% of this year group can't install it
So I gave to build most of my project in the college PC
Idk how to make the update text buses automatically fill up with the member information from the database table
She = professor? And she didn't give you this handy info from the beginning? What a turd
