I've had this before, i connected it to another pc using a sata to usb dongle. Was able to copy files to NAS, format and then install on the machine with a windows usb thingy.
Avoid connecting it to your pc internally, if its a short in the ssd connection it could damage your mobo.

i once stress tested four 4 tb drives for my nas at the same time using my pc. i didn't have enough sata ports unless i wanted to disconnect my system drive. in the end i used a usb 2 to sata adapter on one of them. i would not say that the fourth drive actually experienced stress during that test xD
but well.. they all still run in my homeserver today.
