then it does help
for blender it for sure will, rendering long scenes can turn into a pain if you got very limited and slow ram
or really heavy scenes where a single frame surpasses over 20mb
i tried to render out a realistic scene once, around 550 frames, and after rendering for over 18 hours, half of the rendered files were corrupted
all the 64gb filled up

Ouch
I think I remember seeing a benchmark showing like 5-7% difference from using 3000 vs 2400 or something can't remember. You can look it up tho. There was actually a bit of difference in rendering and the things of the like tho
But for ddr3 there wasn't really any difference past 2400 that made sense to buy. There was an article about best speeds for ddr3 can't remember it now tho but it tested like all the cls and timings
There's really not a big difference in price between the speeds anyway tho so imo no point in getting slower unless you're super budget
I'm a fast RAM shill but It's less important than CPU or GPU for most stuff. It's something you look into when you already have high end stuff and either cant go farther or its hundreds of dollars to go farther
like for someone buying a budget PC the $50-$100 on faster RAM(2400 vs 3200/3400/whatever) would likely provide better returns on a GPU or CPU
but if you already have an i7/R7, X80/X80Ti, etc
just drop the money on better ram tbh
obviously I'm talking about normal desktop users too, when you get into HEDT and threadripper or xeons and stuff I dont know shit about RAM speeds and the price/perf improvements
Ram speed only really affects you if it's VRAM
50-100 more? Um.. Its basically same price. 70-85usd for 3000mhz and 60+ for 2400 so like 10 usd @tall finch
And if you pick a good ram you can expect around a 200mhz overclock if you want to save a bit of money by getting slightly cheaper ram
Where tf do you buy ram that you can say it’s basically the same price?
70usd for the cheapest 8GB 2400 and 105usd for the cheapest 8GB 3000 is what I see
^^^
Don't pay attention to speed ever, it's a trap
Only overclock your VRAM
After that, only capacity matters
Noo, you can’t generalize that. Ryzen gains a lot from ram speeds, and even on intel applications that are not games it can help, just depends on your hardware on what you do
Gskill aegis for 70 and ripjaws v for 85 as well as corsair vengeance for 80 usd all at newegg, amazon, outletpc
You don't have to buy only rgb ram you know
I am looking at the cheapest option with only filter criteria 8gb, ddr4
I dislike rgb
In case you're bad at searching have a link https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232419
Or I'm from europe and not the us
Then that's the problem. Gotta pay that Euro tax
And the link tax ;p
Would recommend looking at 2x4 kits as well tho. I've seen some that are 20usd off normal price before
filter 8gb meant 8gb in any form
that euro tax is called vat :x
Well only if you call it that. It all depends on the country 😄
in English its still vat right?
isn't it the same thing that in america just gets added when you pay for it instead of beeing already in the price?
keep in mind they are the same pepole who use imperial system and fahrenheit and those are much weirder
Engineer: we can't do anything hur hur
he told me to stop using my switch... i tried to exploin to him all of the tests i did were directly to the router not any devices.....
they want me to monitor my connection for 3 months
@sturdy crater guess RAM prices have come down, now it looks like the diff is more in line with the performance uplift(at least up to 3200Mhz~, past that it gets pricey)
VAT is basically a fancy word for "You pay the tax on this product in whatever country you buy from, unless they sell too much, in which case you pay your local tax instead"
So in Denmark the percentage is different to Germany.
We call ours Moms. 25% flat on almost everything.
in the US it's "sales tax" and ranges from 0-12% depending on your area
also sometimes you dont have to pay it* because inter-state commerce on the internet is still new enough to find loopholes
*you're still legally supposed to pay it on your own(vs being collected by the merchant), but no one does
Because it's not a defined thing, Tino 😄
It's just a shorthand way of saying "You're paying sales tax - which might vary depending on country"
Sales tax
Either way all semantics - I just see people too often assume that VAT is static, which it most certainly is not, since each EU country has their own ideas 😄
it's all diferent ways and values, but in general it all does the same, just more confusing in some places than in others
Internet taxes in the us is basically... hey does the seller live in your state? No? Then you don't pay taxes. From my understanding anyway.
Often times online retailers just bake taxes into the price tho
its based on "physical presence" iirc
for collection anyway
to my understanding, you "have" to pay either way(one is just the merchant taking it out and sending to the government for you and the other is you manually doing it) and its illegal to not do so. But they're not gonna bust your ass for failing to pay a few dollars per year in sales tax

that lowkey roast
You guys ever heard of a drop in 20+ degrees simply by rotating the cpu cooler 90 degrees? From bottom-to-top to front-to-back? 20 degrees sounds crazy to me.
I cant imagine something like that causing a 20 degree shift
unless thermal paste application or cold plate orientation was causing bad temps b4
I think you can achieve a larger temperature drop by rotating the actual CPU 90 degrees
I think the Verge is putting that bit of info in their next video
.......
I think they should just stick to reporting on PC Hardware instead of building computers
20+ degree drop on what exactly tho? If you have a poor case and the fan is oriented in a way where it isn't really doing nothing i could see a slight drop.. Wouldn't expect 20+ tho.
I've tried rotating mine before to try and get lowest temp and no rotation seemed significantly better than any other. I'm half tempted to remove my fan for shits and giggles and see if that will net me 20 degrees
So where did you read that rotating would net 20 degrees?
Maybe they added a 0 by accident
Basically the idea is to make sure your fan is blowing the air out of an exhaust
just comments of users in random forums
Ya i don't see how it would do a whole 20 degrees. 2 sure. Maybe if you have shit vrms it might change the vrm temps a bit.
Some blocks have to be on a certain orientation to cool optimally
Depends on the CPU also, as it's the die under the ihs that's the decider
It's not many blocks that need that though, and I think they try not to design like that anymore
Why on earth would you do bottom to top anyhow.
There's so little airflow intake there because of your GPU
maybe not much ram clearance to face it front to back
I got fair amount of room between my cpu and top pcie16 slot
You'd need some pretty tall RAM to obscure a 120mm fan 😄
I had next to no room between my gpu and h80i radiator when using it lol
only a couple more hours and we finally know if we can be excited or shittalk RTX woo
Damn times flown
Don't get excited.
rofl 2080 is shitty
???????
in the 1.5 reviews i've read its basically on par with any non-reference 1080ti
idk about 2080ti yet
I'm watching jaytwo
The NVIDIA RTX Launch has been clouded with secrecy... NVIDIA showed absolutely NO performance metrics compared to previous generation GPUs in any game and f...
well it's about as good as I expected it to be, sad it's so highly priced
"Just release anything, we need money"
Guess I'm getting a 1080ti
everyone suspected it but now we know why they released the Ti along with the normal 2080 lol
how sad of a launch would it have been if the highest-tier card was basically just a more expensive 1080ti
well it makes sense since it's a new architecture + big focus on RT/Tensor corse that need some games to be ready with RTX implementation
instead of just a new gpu type that focuses on rasterization
is it even 7nm?
4k benchmarks are pretty impressive
I didnt see much to indicate that the 2080 is reliably better than a 1080ti in an meaningful way, even at 4k
Ngl
the only thing is RTX and that isnt anything yet
12nm but that means nothing
not worth to upgrade since we're so close to 7nm ;<
That's so strange
those Xnm numbers are just marketing
makes sense since 1080p often has cpu bottlenecks
2080ti is good
Ye I agree
also I would put money on these cards improving over the next month or two by another 5-10%
but that's still sad for the 2080
The 2080 is literally a 1080ti
ah now I see why you mentioned that, yeah for cpu it would make sense
yeah they don't bench cpu's at lowest settings for some reason for 1080p, its weird
and mostly just default ram
Like, they bench games at 720p but highest settings
-.-'
there are settings which impact the CPU tho
you cant just run on min settings if you're disabling a bunch of stuff that hits the CPU
or its irrelevant anyway
well it's often a scenario what consumers would use, and if you get a high end cpu 90% of users will try the highest settings they can run and some settings do use the cpu too
Probably not true anymore, since progamers influence so many young gamers with their competitive settings. Perhaps in the past for Single Player games
720p/max is done to try to reduce the GPU bottleneck while also giving the CPU the most taxing settings possible since IIRC cpu-heavy settings are usually pretty resolution agnostic
Don't fail Callum
Atm they are £600
I have no choice
U dont need eye candy
there is no guarantee 7nm amd next year is better
There is, atleast for CPU's, I can't imagine why wouldnt it be for GPU's
And tbh I won't have money money like I do then
Right now I'm a student
And I can spend money without consequences
Just get a midrange 7nm prolly better than 2080ti ;P
Ahh, why is that?
I literally have no gpu
igpu?
please stop talking like 7nm is some revolutionary stuff that magically makes a gpu better
please
And my refund for my 1070 came in
7nm vs 12nm is like......
So is just be paying a bit more
pascal vs turing is 16 vs 12 and barely changed anything
intels 10nm is about the same as tsmc's 7nm on cpu side
they are not absolute values
7nm doesn't mean every part of the chip is made with 7nm gaps, so if you use 12nm better than you can use 7nm you still end up with a better design with a wider process
meh I don't wanna argue. Sure, buy 2080 if u want I dont care lol
I'm still getting a 1080ti tho
yeah probably cost/value wise the best option till next year for sure
as in then might be better options around
always buy for the present unless you know the future is right around the bend
no as in you need to upgrade again lol
You're sounding like an Isheep rn
you can wait for X new stuff forever
1080ti will last years
asking to wait longer? just wait for the singularity then
1080ti this late is imo, paying for 2 years old tech. I wouldn't personally consider that smart purchase, but if you must.. you do what you must
anything competing with a 1060 is alright
Lol
"its old" isnt a good criticism
if "its old" but performs on par with the newest product replacing it why would it matter lol
I mean I get what he's saying, you dont replace old stuff every week but you dont buy "new" old stuff
Because you're paying near MSRP for years old tech. Not smart. Technology advances so fast. The real value drops very sharply
I just disagree
But I'm out, do as you wish
it is fair to say some of the new technologies are worth it
amd vega has great value for streamers and video editors
before the crypto craze, fro example, for my GTX 780, dropped value on 2nd hand market, by 60-70% in 2 years
but 1080 is generally better for gaming
But we aren't lol
The prices have dropped significantly
I wouldn't buy a 1080ti unless it was at the price it's going down atm
but the reason it's near MSRP is that the memory prices just now went down again, otherwise both generations would be a bit cheaper rn
that's kind of a weird arguement
I doubt anyone meant to imply that
No ones implying that, but we all disagree with you on seeing tech a few years old as "old" tech
Not everyone buys a cars every gen....
Nor should they
my friend bought a new gpu because his monitor cable wasn't plugged in right
I just buy everything as new as possible, then I usually keep the parts as long as possible. Still on Sandy Bridge. Guess I'm just wired to be a scrooge ;p
I played competitive games on a laptop comparable to macbook graphics
honestly callum, save a few quid and get a 1070ti
so the 80 ti performance becomes the 80 performance
sounds reasonable
you'll get 1080 performance levels if you give it a slight oc
@haughty condor with that logic you'd get a 1080
nope
Ps I play vr
1070ti is a fair bit cheaper than 1080 (at least here)
I remember uk pricing is weird sometimes
BTW I wouldn't be saving any money
I have £420 refund
Wouldn't save or loose
With a 1070ti u men
I mean
In my eyes is it I spent £50 more I any as well just spend £100-150 more
something interesting I noticed while still reading 2080/2080Ti reviews
non-FE card are basically the same as FE now
in terms of performance
Aye that is interesting
which makes sense given that Nvidia beefed up the FE stuff, but its still weird to see every model of 2080Ti within margin of error of each other
at least that I've seen thus far
you mean AIB cards with non-FE cards?
yeah
well, PCB's won't be much more than on the FE cards, but the cooler is still not great on the FE cards
and better cooling = better performance to some degree
I assume the blower-style AIB cards will be worse, but even the basic multi-fan AIB cards seem to be fine
there are blower style AIB cards?
never saw any besides from nvidia for this and last generation
well idk what the point of these was then, unless they had a much better PCB and that made it better than FE cards
huh interresting
they were the cheapest cards(at least for MSRP) usually
Nv decided to OC their FE cards this gen
and I think the MSI one had a custom PCB that was pretty good for the 1080ti, you just had to max the fan to make use of it lol
probably to justify the $200ish pricehike over the msrp of a normal card
ehhhh
fairly sure the only good thing about the blower ones is that they'll be reference boards so you can watercool easily
the hiked msrp will be the cheapest you can get them for months lol
I havent seen pricing but I will be shocked if every Turing card isnt within $50 of the FE MSRP at best
"real" MSRP wont happen for months if Pascal was anything to go by
so far at least the 80(Ti) prices are not lower than nvidias
the cheaper AIB boards haven't come out yet though, just the premium ones
turing chews up vulkan based games
yeah DX12/vulkan titels gain a lot from Turing
all 4 Titles that exist that use it lol
could be a big deal in the future tbh
not so much Vulkan giving some magical improvement for Turing
yeah but not untill they make using dx12 a lot easier
but just the general improvements in the GPUs shining in newer games
or, asynchronus computing rather than the two api's
it'll still take some time before good vulkan/dx12 implementation becomes standard
so did NVIDIA improve the dx12 perf this time? AMD used to be better
yeah asynch is wayyyy better on turing
I would just say support the manufacturer you want, they're both good
but that was not a surprise since the Titan V already showed that
I'd say don't give a fuck who made the card, see what is best for your usecase
is it hardware implementation on turing?
afaik no
aw
well kinda of as the architecture handles it better but nothing like Tensor Corse for it
well tbh maybe Tensor Cores help with it? don't know
No idea, all I know is AMD had hardware implementation for dx12 or something last time I checked and NVIDIA only had software and that why it was lacking in perf. Need to check this again when I'm buying a new card. Just curious is all.
if you care about asynchronus computing the 20xx cards are definitely beating everything rn
"New for the Turing architecture is a dedicated integer pipeline that can run concurrently with the floating point cores. While graphics applications predominantly use FP calculations, Nvidia has profiled a large number of games and other applications and said that typically there are 35 (or 36, depending on which Nvidia document you consult) integer instructions for every 100 FP instructions.
On previous architectures, the FP cores would have to stop their work while the GPU handled INT instructions, but now the scheduler can dispatch both to independent paths. This provides a theoretical immediate performance improvement of 35 percent per core."
I'm not an engineer but that sounds good
yeah you won't ever get even close to that 35% though lmao
can amd do int32?
as in , purposefully
so that's good news then, cross compatible async compute
well yeah dx12/vulkan is not an nvidia only thing, and it's nto like int32 is all that matters with that
well if i look at that nvidia slide it's the things they can run asynchronously
You mean vr link
yes i mean usb-c
Not even sure it's straight up usb c tho
it should be plain old usb-c with displayport alternate mode
- 27w of power as per vr link spec
hm.. how much lighter would a gpu +cpu an all in one be compared to a midrange cpu/gpu air cooler
hm.. actually not lighter
damn, i had hopes for the smaller size
waiting for the 2060 then
wonder if the 2060 will be its own die or cut down TU106(2070 is full die TU106)
and if its cut down, will it have RT and tensor cores
my guess is it will have tensor cores but no RT cores
no raytracing but DLSS and similar doesnt need as much compute power
2060+ with bios unlockable rt/tensor cores would be amusing
I personally think it will have both locked away
and the insufficiently binned gpus will go to something outside of rtx
could also be bad versions of 2070 chips and they cut away the rt cores or so
would not be surprised if 2060 is its own die while we get a 2060Ti or something with a very small amount of RT cores
or maybe they go full-retard and have both GTX and RTX 2060s lol
true, wouldn't surprise me anymore with the stupid namings they've done recently
Pretty sure they made it clear that 2060 won't have RTX. It will be a GTX
Which I find interesting. If the 2080 performs on par with a 1080 Ti I wonder where a 2060 will fall and how they'll justify buying it if the performance isn't impressive.
a 2060 will be a 1070
and i bet the 2060 will be released around the time when all 1060/70s get sold out (even with the overstock sent to AIBs)
if not, it will cost 100 more and when the olds ones sell out they will drop the prices of all by 100
which should be around ces next year i think
cant have the chickens without putting out eggs first
it's like that with every new feature/api/whatever
you get nothing or the next closest thing to nothing
it's just usually the latter
Nvidea "they way its mean to to be delayed"
Is anybody actually thinking about going to get 2080 TI?
for maximum fps or 4k probably
No way - Never getting Titan level cards. Too expensive. Sticking with the 1080ish level.
Expect them to 😄
...."don't delay, buy today!"
yup...thats Nvidea
plz dont do the same thing, wooting
ik you're never supposed to preorder stuff but it looks as if you did everything right the first time with the ONE....so im hoping that everything goes well with the TWO
prepare for unforeseen consequences
just so you can be pleasantly surprised that everything's fine
Nobody but us server dwellers

I'm using my old phone while I wait for my new one - so many issues with that anyway- and somehow the battery has become terrible. I had to charge it 10 times yesterday, it dies at around 25% and somehow charging it makes the battery % go down sometimes
I don't remember it being this bad, but it's borderline useless. Can't wait to replace it again
10 times? Sounds like you need a better phone
Wife's 5X is getting that way
I had a better phone until it got stolen
The replacement I ordered might not actually be in my hands until the end of the month thanks to some hijinks with product specs and shipping though, so I'll have to make do unfortunately
sounds like a bad battery, idk how easy/cheap it'd be to fix probably depends on your phone
that was happening to my iphone 5S and it was like $20 and took 45 minutes
now its golden
I mean the battery is easily replaced, it's just finding one that's the problem. LG sells them for like $15 but finding them in the UK is a right bother. All I can find are 3rd party batteries with less than favourable reviews
Think it's 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8
strange
nothing works
i can still use discord for some reason 🤷
everything else wont load
times out
Spooky
same on my phone and ipad
That is odd though
Ping is fine to google
i thought it might be my DNS
see you in 10 years
rebooting my router
Well that's not great
Currently downloading my Spotify library to this phone to listen to on the train and even that is killing the phone. Shambles
That's never good
Just use 1.1.1.1 ;p
9.9.9.9 is good
@zenith mirage dying batteries can damage your phone, since they no longer have a hard metal protective casing do to ever increasing size constraints
in short your battery may/had to already pass gas
Well in that case it's good I won't have to use it for much longer. Well, with any luck anyway
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition 의 열화상 이미징
Yes, the 2011 ish macbooks had that issue a lot
Battery was hard on top but not bottom, so it would essentially push up against the bottom casing and push out the bottom half of the body
Signature phrase to look out for is "my trackpad is sticking" or "I can't click"
Lots of fun
I think we can all agree.
I remember when phone batteries could be removed in a pinch
had one battery on a nokia phone bloat a bit, but no problems just take it out and get a new one
some family member's did heat up and bloat a lot though
not a fun thing to have in your pocket
This phone's an LG G5, so the battery is real easy to takd out. The real trouble is finding a replacement
iPhone batteries are very easy to get out.,
Two strips of tape out and it just goes out.
okay but what about the part where you need to remove and replace the front of the phone, while being careful not to break it, and having to replace the rubber seal
lol
aye im getting a GTX 1080 on 3 october
nice
I was in CEX looking at GPUs today. They're selling 1080s used, barely below what you can get them for on Amazon
Shambles
what do you guys think of using a 250GB SSD as a cache for a 2tb drive with mostly games on it?
I think you should stop trying to use cache drives, and just leave the two drives alone 😄
I can't find something to use it for 😦
GAYMS
I already have almost 4tb of space for games lol

Fast gaem load
already have 2tb of wd black so already pretty fast load lol
...............
Ayy more phones being banned from flights
every phone that people actually buy will have 1 or 2 "blow up"
I've never had a phone blow up
I dont know a single person who has
but if you sell millions, at least a couple units will fail
Oh I Saint realise what you meant
Lol fast charge
Rip
I got a card off of eBay just so I could fast charge from my pc
Your port killed 4 wires? Are you sure it not just because of the horrible design of micro b
Holy shit

I wonder if Linus will do a video about that 😂 Considering he used to work there
Linus doesn't need to do anything really
He tried to buy their news thing specifically as I recall.
He also wanted to buy the YouTube Play button for the show he was on
Some random youtuber bought it 😂

Auction was a complete waste of time for anyone with brains. 😄
I think he posted it because at that timestamps he says that hopefully the data gets shredded lol
yeah
Ah. Missed the timestamp
That's brilliant.

I'll try to find
it's not up for sale anymore, I'll try to find someone else selling it
here's it is for $15 CAD
I wasn't able to get the regular usb port to work
it has power, but no data. Probably needs the drivers on the disk I lost
the type-c port works like a charm tho
Anyone else getting spammed by this stupid "IRL App"
I'm upset enough that I submitted a complaint
Not yet but I get lots if spam
@reef patrol did the DRAM Size overflow? Loooool
Who uses signed ints to represent sizes
Dead motherboard. Got it to post once and got this. Note the Mhz on that CPU 😄
cpu or ram?
I'd run that even if it was single channel 😛
actually not with that size, nvm haha
impressed with my own cabeling ngl
tho my cousin has altered it
i did his build some time ago
he just replaced gpu

@golden girder https://github.com/nirewen/Citador
Did any of you watch "Lyles" video on the Verge build?
In case you didn't https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vmQOO4WLI4
Check out the Toshiba OCZ TR200: https://amzn.to/2xlgA4e Lyle practically wrote the book on how to NOT build a PC, so he knows a bad build when he sees one. ...

typical jay
Grab a used 1080ti or something
That's what I'm tempted to do at the end of the year or something
See what prices are like
Uuuuuuughhhhh.... I hate my brain sometimes.
I'm to paranoid to buy new 😓
Watched Ready Player One when I woke up, and now I can't let go of the idea of building a retro themed system.
Retro as in off-white plastic and floppy disks, or retro as in space invaders?
As in demo scene specifically in this case. Think.... Watch Dogs dedsec datamoshing/pop culture memes.
Spent far too long making a sketch in PS.
Been going through several themes. Demoscene, Cyberpunk, Miami retro 80s (neon), but this one hits closest to home.
Torn between hacker datamoshing (Dedsec style) and the more mainstream Outrun esque thing.
Go for it. I would have kept mine, if I wasn't offered a 2080.

Speaking for myself, if I was getting a 10 series I'd wait and see what 1080ti prices do. But if you need a GPU and there's a good deal on a 1080 then go for it
Retailers will want to shift stock as time goes on, they'll go down
And you have a gpu I don't
Failing that the second hand market will always serve up deals
It's driving me insane
😠
I want to play shadow of tomb raider so bad
And I severely miss vr
You gonna pay for it
I wish there was a competing AMD card out
Im pretty sure we won't see anything high end for ages, which is a shame
Ah well, they'll come back around
Also, the phone that I ordered on Amazon last Tuesday hasn't even been picked up by the courier and its supposed to arrive on Wednesday. I have my doubts
Took a chance on a listing that was a fair bit lower so we'll see if it was legit
It's Sunday
I have like 3 spare cards in my flat doing nothing
I keep saying I'll build a PC with spare parts but Ill probably never get to it
Make a ryzen build
It's more than its worth tbh
It'd only go in our living room to play games on our TV
What spares do you have
Sidenote: I had a friend offer to lend a 970, then he went and... If you have a custom loop that fits the water block
Dick move -_-
I meant gpus specifically
Trying to think. Two 600 series cards I think and a R9 290
Ah I see
Although the 290 might see use in a mate's PC
That's impressive
Can't be that bad right? I mean my mate was running games just fine on a 680ti or something
Oops
Okay yeah fair
That either shows how bad the card is, or how far modern iGPUs have come
I mean, when it comes to vram the 750 bumps it for sure
But when it comes to say bfv I had greater performance
On internal
Wonder when my card will be too weak to keep up? I'm guessing late 2019/early 2020
R9 390
At least it has a fair whack of VRAM going for it
I think I'm just going to go with the 1080
After all its only £30 out of my pocket vs £200+
Fair play
I think maybe if next gen vr is worthy then I'll invest in the ti series
Just wsrxh
Cv2 announced a day after I get my 1080
Also my oculus is still in its wrapping lmao
The replacement
Eh i disagree
I feel like it's something I'd use intensely for a while, then sporadically after that
My flatmate is keen to get one for the flat, but I'm not keen on it considering only one of us has a decent GPU
Actually thats not necessarily true, he has a laptop with a 1070 which would probably do
It doesn't matter
It's a misconception
I mean best saber can be played on a 750 lool
I Shit you not
Fair
Idk then, it's still a pain to take PCs back and forth into a space big enough to play
Especially since we barely have space as it is
The whole min specs is stupid
People are still using older cards
Well wait for new oculus standalone
Full vr, internal tracking
Own headset
It's rumored launch titles are pretty good
So it's going to be impressive
Dead & Buried gameplay on the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers. Developed By: Andrew and Ryan Produced By: Oculus Studios Genre: Shooter Platforms: Oculus ...
Rumoured launch title
I'll check it out when I'm not on crappy train wifi
Better than nothing
I get no signal on trains
We still use what are they called
Bus on track
No
No clue then
I'd call that a train but maybe there's another name
It's literally a bus
They are called pacer trains
Look them up
Moves are finally afoot to get rid of much-maligned trains built from the body of a bus. But how did Britain's railways come to rely on the Pacer?
Never seen one of them personally
Mostly because it's used by northernrail these days
I'm clearly too far north for that then
It's not as bad as my first 2 years of uni tho
The first year it was pacers every day
They are truly awful
For a journey like mine
I can understand short ones
But that train is a total health 2 hours? If you're going from Liverpool to Manchester
The train journey I'm currently on is daft because it's a Sunday. Normally take 3 and a quarter hours, will take that long to get to the connecting train station. Then another hour after that
I'd hate having to get public transport every day
I just got a msi gtx 1080Ti armor OC but when it gets to load temps the fans start making this weird rattling almost grinding noise, anyone know what might cause this and how to fix it?
@pastel spoke GB?
11GB
i mean gigabyte?
Oh no its msi
Ive checked the fans dont seem loose
most of the time you cant do anything about it
flem, i know what he is talking about which is why i said it can be loose.
flem
plez
go away
❤
people usually call it wine, at least when the fan is making a noise
is it like this
Yeah but its a bit sharper i guess?
Ye i had that issue with my 970
The thing is the wine is only there when the card is hot and under loaf
Loaf
Load
Ugh
cos your fans are most likely on auto
Coil Whine is normal.
When i put the fan speed up manually within afterburner when the cards at idle the whine isnt there
^ ye which is why i said you cant do much
Oh that is interesting.
where is vid about Phil Fish? u f-ing cuck sasaker
oh god what did i just hear
It sucks i cant send audio files, i have a audio recording of it on my phone
Im not at my computer now btw
im curious now
But you're using a computer to use Discord
Im on my phone rn
Unless it's iOS.... Then I can't save you
The recording on my phone is the same as in the video you sent MrPleasant_exe
RIP
I want to try OCing again, but i suck with ryzen
Well, i suck in general and ryzen isn't helping with funny memory issues
OC First, THEN play around with RAM.,
So Aimpad is no longer making a full keyboard. Instead starting a kickstarter next week for a control pad 😐
this is old news lol
oh, searched for aimpad and didn't find any recent discussions. Just saw a video aimpad posted about it yesterday.
er friday actually
this control pad will still be made by coolermaster I believe.
Yeah, just pulled up the video. It is going to be made by coolermaster.
His tech is cool, but personally I find the most value in my Wooting with DKS and actually lowering the actuation point to an ideal level.
Also appreciate how easy it was to swap out springs to my ideal pressure.
Dont get me wrong.
Off the record i would love to try his tech but he is cocky, wants to make pure profit and like i said really cocky.
Personally the actual analog features I rarely used, but I mostly play Quake which doesn't support it anyway.
Every chance he gets he aims at Wooting.
Well, Wooting has succeeded and he hasn't yet 😐
Which i find incredibly disrespectful considering the amount of times i and wooting in general agknowledge and complment also honest about it.
$140 for a few analog keys? thats just unreasonable.
Coolsr masters board with his switches is like $180 and its like 5 of them?
That's another thing. I use the left side of the keyboard for movement keys (to give my mouse more room) so it makes aimpad even more pointless.
Was an original supporter of aimpad before I learned of Wooting, and now even more I'm glad that Wooting has been able to deliver.
Although I still hope he's able to find success. More keyboards with analog control just means more support from more games at this point.
i do too.
And his tech is awesome.
And defientely more stable.
But he needs to lower his expectations.
Think about it... .
Wooting are just 3 ex students who played guild wars.
No shit, they played Guild Wars? Didn't know that.
I got into eSports playing that game. Commentated some of the original tournaments.
One of them was even an intern i think.
Kind of the reason why I'm such a big Quake head now. lol
Calder pretty much brought everyone together.
They did it with 0 funding and lived in seperate countries.
So its very much possible....
Aimpad just has their expectations to high.
Though it does help Wooting having a contract with Flaretech, that alone is cheaper than aimpad using cherry....
which was originally his plan.
Although as I'm thinking right now. My ideal formfactor is the ErgoDox personally, so perhaps a "control pad" design is best. Then if you then support using two of them at a time as a full keyboard you could then sell them in pairs for more money. $_$
however you'd need a symmetrical design.
looks sexy

Woot Woot
picture doesnt do it justice sadface
ye it doesn't 😂
What are they like to type on? How sturdy are they? Travel distance?
i was looking at the pic and i was like "thats so shit lmao"
@toxic jolt so feel wise they are pretty fun to type on and i noticed the difference immediately
the material is wonders and they feel real sturdy
as for travel distance.. about the same? no quantifiable info in that regards lol
disclaimer: they fit real snug on the keyswitch stems....... like..... u might break a stem trying to remove these in the future lmao
that's good; looking at it, it seems like they might feel a little wobbly
nice @dense vapor I got the same ones and I did the same with keeping my Wooting caps. Only other ones I kept though were the Mode and Tab. I replaced the rest.
I didn't invert my spacebar though. Interesting approach. Or is that right and I'm inverted?
From my experience these caps are tight on the stems though. Be careful when removing them (use the cap puller on single size caps and make sure to pull straight up) and be careful with the wider keys. I had to use my fingers on tab, enter, backspace, etc.. the puller didn't quite grab and hold them
nah, that's inverted
@toxic jolt not any wobblier than keyboards with an open configuration like the wooting, still i def recommend them and the wooting for sure
@timid chasm yeah keeping the wooting caps as a must lol
and yes keen observation the spacebar is inverted lol
i prefer it inverted because i game a lot and the feel is just nicer in my opinion
and u are right about the puller not grabbing the larger cap lol
overrall i love the keycaps
ah
thought you had some power delivery thing break but I must have been thinking of someone else
pudding keycaps
Purely looks though. Same profile. 😃
My mum wants to get a dog cam... I'm highly against the idea of a camera watching the entire living room while im home over the network, I said If you want one iin turning it off everytime I come downstairs because ye no.
get one with amazon integration so you get instant suggestions for food when someone gets hungry, something breaks or you talk about wanting something anywhere in your house
I mean there are those auto feeders with cameras as well. Those won't be able to see you unless you're planning on being on the floor
they are low profile kailh choc switches @misty saffron
the caps look extra sexy tho
caps were probably custom made, there aren't many off-the-shelf options for chocs
nods
i'd like to have those caps though
imagine such caps for the wooting
blocky ones
would cause lot's of mistypes because of the spacing
but look good
now that popular OSes are adding dark themes to apps, you know what we really need?
to get rid of windows
true but not what I had in mind
Big ole anime tiddie gir... no... no that's not right
something to switch between themes depending on ambient light
we could also use anime tiddies but that's a given
or just good dark themes that work in every scenario so you don't need anything else
can we have an ambient light sensor on the wooting two? please please please!
Windows
still allows jack shit customization
Windows is the IOS of desktop PCs
lets be honest.
yeah but mac on a pc is worse and I'm kinda afraid for linux now tbh
did you catch any of the discussion around the Code of conduct thing regarding linux?
recent?
yes
shoot
microsoft might be creating a barebones windows 10 version but its probably crap too
forgot what it was called
the dude lol
they've made multiple "barebones" editions of windows
give me a second to find a link, easier than to explain everything
not talking about LTSB
they're mostly just regular windows home with most extra services disabled
S?
that's just services tho
I mean on the technical side, it's just services
let me put it in perspective
if I want to upgrade to 10 pro from 10 home, I have to sit through some downloads and updates and restarts for about 10 minutes maybe
Ugh
Alright. You've seen this a million times before. It's a code of conduct blah blah blah
that has social justice baked right into it. blah blah blah.
https://t.co/KuQqeriYeJ
But something is different about this.
275
480
Even home is filled with shit
extremely long thread
if I want to upgrade from S, which is supposed to be the "barebones" edition of windows, I just click a button and wait 5 seconds
no restart or anything
tl:tr while i cook?
you also only install things from the windows store
windows 10 home is more barebones to win 10 pro, than win 10 S is to any other version
MUCH more
extreme tl;dr: code of conduct from SJW's now added to linux kernel, can be used to remove dev's just because they have different political views, regardless of how good their code is
yeah that sounds fun
I'm still waiting for an OS run entirely off of chrome's V8 JS engine
im jk lol but I would get behind an OS with HTML5 UI
think it was called Windows 10 Lean
L E A N
also apparently the CoC was already used to go after a dev who did say something 7! years ago, but haven't really read details about it, topic is way too big and spread around
oof is all I can say
yeah Windows 10 Lean supposed to be a lot more "lean" than S ;p
but with windows, all the corporate nonsense gets kept internally, so nobody has to hear about all the terrible things they do at microsoft
wish they'd give the option for completely custom install tho
yes omg
I downloaded NTLite at work and tried to make custom windows installs
bro it's literally like WTF why is this so hard
yeah its too hard
it takes like an hour to apply 4 months worth of updates, then another hour to compile and decompile
you can also do some with DISM but its frustarting
THEN half of the time, the config stuff you put it either doesn't work or has been replaced by some other hidden option
theres another program which is free but I forgot
but apparently its focused on performance, somewhat atleast
i would take a bare bones official w10 anyday
i wish i could remove cortana for a start without killing search bar
yea
ik
I mean obv I can't say for sure, but my guess it's more for laptops and such
lower end stuff like HP streams and whatnot
stuff that could use the performance and disk space
so I wouldn't be surprise if it was windows store only
didnt they start making Surface devices run Win10 S by default
ah they did the Surface Laptop as S by default
and the Surface Go(but that one actually almost makes sense)
thaaaaat's what it was
I was pretty sure the pros ran 10 pro, but something in the back of my mind was like "MMMMM"
Can't you kill cortana with registry edits?
depends on what version of what type of win10
Yeah you can, while the UI toggle has been removed for whatever reason, the underlying registry setting still works
You people have Cortana?
Come to Denmark. I have literally never experienced Cortana.
you have
its built into search
even i you disable
she lingers
in the background
I was referring to the whole Siri aspect.
It's just Windows Search to me. No talking, no asking. I just have a neat search window (that utterly sucks)
I like windows search 95% of the time, but the 5% of the time when it just wont ever find the one thing you're explicitly searching for is infuriating
Nah windows search is horrible. I search for photoshop and get photos app and 0 results
i never said what it was
i said its built into the search
which means if you disable cortana you disable search
There's this other app that fixes windows search
Can't remember what it's called
But its faster as well i believe
you do
Nope
backspace everything
Sec.
uhh I have the search and no cortana
Same
Maybe you just don't know how to windows
think im on the newest version yea
it's def possible just hard sometimes
i dsiabled everything boi
And you're using cortona. I use search. https://i.imgur.com/3UWcTlj.png
You didn't disable it mate ;p
@pale sigil same here...its a rege tweek
well...in the early versionb of win 10 it could be disabled with a button
but that option was removed
you still can in the enterprise version I think
Yup, but the underlying registry value is still honored
they have the instructions there
they also thave the zip with the reg key that you can download and just click to install
I'm pretty sure anniversary update is older than my computer
Could be wrong tho
This post is from 2016 so.. Ya def an older post
If you wany extra control with group policy editor...i have a bat file that will install it
For win home devices
And as far as I know, that policy gets ignored which is pure evil
I think you guys just need to learn windows better

the registry tricks still work, they just sometimes change what you need to change depending on what update you are on
I haven't had anything go sideways on me yet
Well actually i do technically have a reg edit. 7+ taskbar. But that has nothing to do with cortona so. I only use it so i can combine windows and have them on same tab with their names.. Because for some reason windows 10 removed that.
But anyways.. If you are having trouble i believe the program named shutup10 allows you to disable it as well
yep
