This says nothing about input lag
it's probably TN so the input lag will be fine too
I've seen some tn panels with pretty bad input lag
Just get better internet or use one of those ping booster things
Meant ping but should basically do what you need for games
Given your internet isn't absolute shit
Sounds like you have shit internet
Did you get sold by the door salesmen
Because for some reason Canada has door to door salesmen for internet
I'm pretty sure bell was the one doing door to door sell
In this hidden camera investigation, CBC's Marketplace gets hired by a company selling Bell services door to door and discovers misleading sales tactics. To ...
What's your speed like?
And are you actually close to the fibre line?
If your speeds are constant 150 you're probably pretty close to it I would guess
But wiring to house may want to be replaced if constant packet loss
Ps: you have tried replacing the network cable right?
And using different ports?
Does the modem/router ever just turn off/go out?
I used CRU before and its great
you have to play around with it to get what you want but it's great
I've done it to overclock monitors and such
So what about that raytracing accelerated AA?
I think that's an amazing idea
Edge detected then instead of regular subsampling, you just fire a couple raytraces into that spot
Boom
It's a way you can have your cake and eat it too
The cake being raytracing, and still being able to run games at reasonable framerates
GTX and not RTX at that if rumors are true.
would make sense for it to not be rtx
maybe not anymore with the next generation, but 2060 doesn't have enough power to raytrace
I mean, that would be the point of the RT cores, yeah? to accelerate ray tracing b/c the GPU isnt powerful enough to do it
those rt cores will do close to nothing for the life of the card anyway
it just seems to me like you would want some number of RT cores on as many GPUs as possible, especially since the X60 cards tend to move a lot of units
but idk nvidia gets greedy too often
depends on what nvidia's goal really is
obviously they believe strongly in the RT cores, because they released a 80ti variant with EVEN MORE RT cores
but as recent benchmarks show, raytracing light and shadows is just too much for even the 80ti to handle
so maybe they're trying to slow down the pace of the whole raytracing world domination thing, to let developers come back with appropriate responses to technology
like RT accelerated AA
:3
just a thought tho
raytracing has a lot more potential than most give it credit for
not just feature-wise, but performance-wise, and especially for existing tech
imagine a massive BR game where all bullet physics were client side. what if you could program the game so that your card could handle that
that way you wouldn't experience any slowdowns from gunfire
ik I'm just throwing stuff out there
Oooooooooooooooooo
imagine portal or portal 2 with raytracing for the image through the portal
you could have distortion and stuff in it
all the reflections could go through it as well
imagine the lag
but with rtx?
i mean it'd totally break your framerate once you got close enough to it
but you get my point
we can offload graphical tasks to the RT units in order to provide a smoother framerate
I still think my RTAA idea is perfect
if I was any good at development and stuffs, I would totally but an rtx asap, develop it, then try to sell it to nvidia
or make it open source, idrc
or would it be RTAAA
that starts to get kinda long 🤔
Physics client side had been done for years
usually with some sort of server-side verification
csgo has client size physics but it doesnt actually counter for anything that's not player movement iirc
it blocks you from using resolutions outside of the interfaces bandwidth
that's where CRU lets you go beyond
I was able to get HDMI 1.4 running at 132hz@720p or something iirc
this was a while ago tho so idr remember
that's all still within the rated bandwidth tho
I cant remember the numbers rn but with HDMI 1.4, you can go to like 90 on 1080p
120 with 720p iirc
so the interface has a specific bandwidth limit, and if you try to cross it, nivida tells you no
same with intel and amd
but with CRU, it'll let you do whatever you want
actually it was 720 I was doing at 132hz, it was like that weird resolution
1336x768
thats what it was
still tho
you can get some pretty janky stuff
I have a pic somewhere
one min
not reasonably
looks good
@proud nacelle you must clear the EDID contents and then leave just one resolution setting to be your default one
the thing with CRU is you just have to mess with it until it works
some data sent through inputs is redundant
in my case, I would have to tell it to override the resolution in two different spots
i just got my samsung phone back... for some reson they replaced all the parts and used the original chasis

i think they even replaced the motherboard
im so unsure
my old phone was in such prestine condition
i legit cant tell
if they gave me a new phone
tis really confusing... they replaced the OS with bloatware one and removed bootloader, the current one says nothing about being knox tripped however when booting up it says its rooted when its not... they replaced the screen, home button and well the power port... so weird.
sellout
its time for SKYRIM
I wish
its the elder scrolls blade game
tom sellout apple keynote
cough been a thing for years cough
I'm just waiting for ninja to jump on stage now
lmao
apple: "whatever we make, you'll buy it anyway"
im actually excited for system wide dark mode
i was so sad when android went from the dark theme to the light theme
but that was announced months ago
i mean i guess the new colours are neat
i guess 120 hz on a phone is neat
r a z e r p h o n e
the iPhones are just 120hz "touch sensing"
idk what that means but I would buy a real 120hz iphone instantly
the ipad pro with 120hz screen is phenomenal
it just feels smoooooth
you notice it more once you stop using it and realize how "un-smooth" 60Hz is
well
when i can get a graphics card that can output 144 fps for a decent cost......then i will go ahead and buy a 144 hz monitor
high refresh rate displays should be standard already, IPv6 should be standard already, biometrics should be standard for security.........(purely oppinion)
I really hoped that after the ipad pro Apple would start to trickle the 120Hz screen into other stuff
but then again I hoped the Macbook would cause them to take up USB C faster too
I was wrong on both lol
well the 120hz display in such a dimension would be quite power inefficient
except it's an Oled, but i doubt that there are any oled panels with such a high refreshrate out there
i just want an 1440p 144hz oled monitor, so i can die in peace
this years iPhones are disappointing at best
I'm sticking with my X for another year
I don't care about a faster chip
faster Face ID is nice, but I'm not spending £1.1k for that
No doubt. Unless something awful goes wrong I'll likely have my pixel 2xl for another 5+ years
I prefer to upgrade every 2 years
I get psychologically tired of carrying the same phone for prolonged periods of time
2 years is the sweet spot
I had 5S, then 6S and now X
still have my 6splus and see no reason to upgrade lol
lol psychologically tired of carrying the same phone
I change my set of suits like yearly lol
a good amount of them are just collecting dust in the wardrobe
I just like wearing suits
I don't know how to wear anything else
I don't know who barney stinson is
@ashen spindle as soon as my s7 was repaired I was so happy to move away from the 6s plus I borrowed
No it's not about not liking it
It runs like shit
I have to use a powerbank all day
I can't do shit on ios
It's horrible
Oh and the size
It's been hell
I have an ipad and the only reason I can deal with it is because I have to jailbreak it for a basic change
Idk how I used to like ios
I do love my ipad tho ❤️ with jailbreak anyway
Was going to say pretty much sure I used pay on ios 14
11
Also you cba bypass that
Can
not from what I've read
I do it for my ipad
I think atm it's still being worked on for ios 11
Even so I just use the browser anyway
Even on my phone
But anyway you shouldn't I've to jailbreak an iPhone to do basic shit
Because they have jailbreak detection
It's stupid
Fuck knows is what I'm saying
Probably think there's a security risk
It's the same on android too
They block rooted phones however on android it takes 1 click to bypass
What kind of things do people even jailbreak for these days
Which doesn't make much sense, why am I allowed to do banking on my PC that I have "full control" on?
Whaf do people use it for? Basic tweaks, I use mine to change my theme, font, YouTube app tweaks and some general
Or to just see my files
yeah, I don't care about any of the tweaks etc anymore
especially when it makes upgrading the OS so painful
It doesn't though xD at least on android
takes 0 effort and doesn't impact performance
All these tweaks are prey much built into android
Wait what you had battery issues? @pale sigil how much were you using it? I like it because I never have to use a powerbank
It's not just me because mum and my sister use s7s
They are always plugging it in
I was just using it for discord
Literally
That’s weird
Not really
Every iPhone I've owned
My mother and sister owned
And my friends are all the same
Considering how small the damn battery is
It makes sense
I mean I never have battery issue so to me it is weird
Probably because you barely use it
But you can't tell me you actively use it and don't need to charge it at least twice
Just messenger drains my mums battery from 20% to 5% in no time
Well I never used messenger so there’s one big difference
messenger lite
Or just tell them to get Pixel 2 xl's. It's battery has been great for me
what cheap smartie phone should I buy?
I need to call and watchapp and sms
and browse porn
@fickle ore honor phones
how cheap we talkin
And two years of guaranteed updates
o wait, long battery life the better
600 bucks (cad) Max
doesnt Amazon sell some really cheap phones with ads on the lockscreens
idk if they're good or not
I remember one of them was loaded with chinese spyware lol
very good price thanks
That is if you plan to go years without support
you have 2 years warrenty by law
in the EU anyway
1 year everywhere else
buy it off amazon and they will support you for up to 4 years
The phone's probably already obsolete after the first two
lol m8 I use phone for 10 yeaars
how can it become obsolete when you can call some1? 😄
i dont game on my s7
dont care about perf, all I want is max betteory life
only reason i have it is because i got it for 250 quid brand new 😄
vargain
i was originally going to get an honor phone
ahh
whats wrong with honors otherwise if not budget?
Im looking at Nokia 3.1 with android one
they are more the higher end in low end
stick your own rom on
if you're concerned about privacy you should get a blackberry
why they just run android now
Ok Im getting that nokia 3.1 thanks dawds
if you're concered about privacy get a pixel, they won't expect you to hide something on a google phone
that's not how it works
or succumb to the fact that humanity is doomed and the powerful have become too powerful and that won't change until we're wiped from existence and evolve again
I just can't get over how slow it is, when did it become acceptable for websites to be this sluggish
oldreddit4lyfe
I haven't noticed any slow downs but that's probably a me thing
Well, ugh geforce now, thats a good thing?
that's quite ridiculous
do you have the bandwidth of the UNI all for yourself ?
or are you actually sitting next to the server
damn
he has ascended, that's what
you know what, i even belive that.
because that's so good, that it became unrealistic
wot
damn, Newegg had a refurb MSI 1070 today for 175 bucks. I like where GPUs are headed
refurn tho
love refurbs
for 175 its worth taking the chance
my 1060 was a refurb and my curved monitor is a refurb as well.
I think my mouse is too
obviously you won't get the full warranty that's expected. some still give a decent warranty though. I think EVGa is a year for refurb gpus
Erh... Refurbished products have full warranty in the EU.
does anyone have a Pixel
Trying to set up a server at half 2 in the morning is fun
That's not even as loud as it was. Fingers crossed nobody else in the building can hear it
Why at half 2? Idk, it just struck us at midnight to give it a bash.
Is it an HP server? Idk, not mine, think it's IBM.
What for? Media and games I think; although i'm starting to think the real reason is to drive me insane
Oh man it was as loud as a jet. Giving it a bash is a saying in the UK -idk where you are- but it's like giving it a shot
So we're basically just trying to see where we can get with it
Before we give up and throw it out a window
now we're talking
Idk even know why we're trying at this point
I think it's just to see if we can
Yeah. I mean the guy we got it from was just giving all this stuff away
Got all this stuff too
All wrapped up in a blurry photo
There's like switches, hardware firewalls, PSUs, heaps of these server blades
Although we did have to find some old refurbished IMB drives since only they would work with it
This was just some dude loving with him mum trying to get rid of as much hardware as possible. We only saw what was downstairs in his house, apparently upstairs was even more full. But that was a rare find, second hand hardware market here sucks, especially on the local level
Well that never helps
It's not SATA. Pretty sure they're IDE
Plus there's no USB interfaces on this thing and we don't have any way to adapt any
@proud nacelle you realise there are recycling centers as well as big warehouses in Canada that will sell older workstation computers right? As for the price of new hardware.. Not as bad as some other countries at least
Also the used market isn't that horrible in Canada anyway.. Not as good as some places in the states but not horrible.
But I guess it does all depend what part of canada
Also I think I saw a couple older elite books that ship internationally
@tall finch does it have to be an original pixel? I have a 2xl
I was just wondering what ppl thought about them and if they had good ROM support
Debating swapping from my iPhone X+t mobile to a Pixel+Project Fi
I also have a pixel 2 xl, have not tried to put a custom rom on it.
I heard its hard because of the dual partition stuff or something
no reason to.
Stock rom 🤷
You should have seen HTC, they had multiple particans lol
I'm more interested in custom ROM support after Google drops official support tbh
I miss my G1/desire z/one
idk about you guys, but i dont really keep anything sensative on my phone, i come home, auto backup to nas an delete anything.
I've got a nexus 6 on 9.0 cuz some people won't let it die lol
@tall finch I can understand that, but these days ROMs aren't as required as usual.
Most phones support 3-4 version now right?
hah, no
Pixel 2 gets 3 years of updates, we'll see
Samsung S7s last update was oreo
super late though, but stable
It seems like Samsung got their crap together mostly now,at least compared to the old days
yes, true, but some ppl then complain about being google's beta testers :p
Anyway, i dont personally care anymore, i used to do it a lot with my older phones, roms every other day.. hell i was installing a new rom while eating food at disneyland florida
xD
but these days Oreo is fine for me.
Ye, last few years have been a sweet spot for phones.
But now we are at our limit.
Were we just stick in specs for the sake of it.
meh, they still feel slow often :/
I'm the master race now
Like, i wiped my phone and it was like brand new, still is now.
Just dont have shitty apps too
It all depends on what are you using your phone for
@harsh terrace 1070ti in 2018 lul
ever tried gmaps? -_-
Google Maps is fine for me.
Budget
Use it all the time.
yeah ofcourse it is fine
but it is one of the app which takes the longest to start and still stutters when scrolling
@harsh terrace im kidding btw, i have no gpu atm
xd
Looks like an awesome kit Dommy, i wish i had a 1070Ti 😉
oof
Have fun assembling, and sweat in terror trying to turn it on first time

why not AIO?
i hope you'll enjoy your first bluescreen
what ryzen is that
AIO requires a decent case
heh, my case is black, closed and silent
why not a 7700k
are the ram prices going down?
Bcus fuk intel
Intel in 2018 🙉
ryzen is more future proof right now
They are still better 😂
since they stick to the same chipset for years
tho it makes sense to go ryzen
competition is good
the only intel chip to buy is the 8700k imo
i just always wanted an i7 and i said fuck it
at least in the US
everything else is either slower or more expensive than the AMD equal
AM4 will be supported for the next 3ish years or so
^
The only thing it does better is core count programs.
Get all those threads
8 cores, 16 threads, what else do you need
For the price, AMD made sense to me
especially if you do editing
So I got a 1600
Better performance?
or streaming
thats what i need x1D
modded minecraft does better cpus with high single thread performance, which is intel :p
Yes, I bought it to have higher FPS in Minecraft on shaders
i get 400fps on ftb boyo
you know how old the 8350 is
Yes but the 8350 is still pretty decnt
and when it got released it was actually one of the best
meme cpu
no, no more memes allowed
8350 is the overclocking monster
triggered
fx line was for intel haters and amd fanboys(same thing usually lul), everyone else was better served by Intel tbh
and maybe other markets where intel has shitty pricing
Jokes aside aye its more logicial to go AMD these days.
but from the US perspective it was baaaaaads
but tbh, intel still out performs for the average user
AMD gpus are a meme aye
if i could id make a new build with ryzen
i have been tempted to sell all of my shit
make an itx ryzen build
I'm just waiting for the 3000 series and I'll probably finally go Ryzen
The sad fact is.
I got my ram when it was still new.
Skylake launch.
And its not super fast
my first real PC build I got suckered into DDR3-1066
ahh good old DDR3
well you wont gain that much of a performance
what a time for RAM prices that was
atleast not in gaming
thats the thing.
I think its weird people go for high ram.
When 90% of the time they dont need it
HyperX Fury Black 16GB (8GB x2 Kit) DDR4-2133MHz
it does help with FPS in CPU-limited situations but most games arent gonna be CPU limited all that often
tis what i got
well the improvement is minor
have a guess
now the price is harder to justify but back in the ol' DDR3 days it was actually pretty cost effective
@harsh terrace How much did you get your kit for
7255 zł ~ 1687 €
I see all your budget went to 970 evo
W/o case
im on about the ram
And yea, I decided to raise the budget and go for evo
Guess how much my 16gb kit was @harsh terrace @hard thicket @tall finch
200
guess in pounds
Man fuck pounds, I already have problems with € currency value
how many britbux was it
£62 :p
nice
it was way before the craze
okay thats hella cheap
yup
damn
well that was long ago
I remember looking at DDR4 during skylake era and thinking "wtf why are ram prices so high" b/c they were like 50% more than DDR3
FeelsBadMan
this very place https://www.ebuyer.com/743587-hyperx-fury-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-2133mhz-cl14-dimm-black-memory-kit-hx421c14fb2k2-16
yeah alot of people didn't upgrade because of the ram prices
there were lot of disscusions if its worth the upgrade from ddr3
yup indeed
but the 8350 is still going
my backup rig has one build in, bottlenecks slightly the 1000series
but works
man im still on a i5 4xxx something
its weird to me to think that ppl still use Phenom II's even though the newest ones were basically as good as the fx stuff lol
phenom 2 was.. bad
its unreal, my h100i struggles with 5ghz
gotta delid
maybe its the case airflow ?
people still use intel hd
did you play around with it
ouch carefull with that
ever
its so easy if you buy one of those tools to do it
I used a rubber mallet and it was scary
i know plenty of people that ruined the cpu with their first attempt
I tested my method on a g3258 before I delidded my 4770k lol
i hope for your success then
@wraith cove got a new beast of a laptop, delid it and fucked it up.
raid, you can re lid
i thought it was 1 way
ye you can its just sketchy-ish
if you do a bad job its literally worse than before
but then I guess you just pop that thing back off and go again
my IHS just sits in the socket tbh, wasnt worth the effort to seal it back up
just have to remember when I remove the socket cover or the whole thing falls out
I dropped my temps by like 20C and pushed way more voltage through mine after
idk what a 7700k can do at stock vs delid
i get like 75-80c under load
even at 3.8ghz in some cases
tho i blame that on most likely an airflow issue
When i get my 1080ti im rebuilding my entire system
with my 6600k i was also at super low temps so i never bothered with much airflow
I have a custom loop now, but when I had a noctua nh d15 I couldnt push it past 1.34v-ish without hitting 100C before delid
after delid I put 1.45v through it and it doesnt get anywhere close to 90C, let alone actual throttle points
not a safe voltage btw b4 anyone tries to get smart with me
oh well 1.45v is pretty high
1.45v is basically "probably not quick death but uh good luck"
My 1070 fried itself Noisi
how did you managed that
So i lent my friends gpu for feed the beast xD anything else i use geforce now
and despite all my voltage i cant get my 4770k past 4.3Ghz 😢
I wish people would stop assuming its my fault -_-
its EVGAs fault for releasing a dud gpu
🤔
cant you just replace the fans on those pretty easily
lol
as long as the chip itself hasn't been borked
its the chip itself that fried
damn
i just bought a 1080 from zotac like a week ago, knowing that the fans would probably blow out like they do on the zotacs a lot, so I was just planning on replacing them when they screw up
nothing to do with the fans
i mean like the whole fan mount, heatsink, etc
all you have to worry about is actually making sure your GPU cuts off if it gets to bad temps, then if anything but the chip screws up ur fine
Ye.. i woke up to 80c idle
lmao
took it out and saw it burnt
i wish i took pics of under the backplate
but i nevvr
I've only had 2 burning PC incidents iirc and funnily enough 1 was a monitor and the 2nd was a speaker
shame, missed oppertunity
sweet
so the refund does not cover a new card
with the current market
xD
and i thought fuck it
may as well gtet a 1080 ti
so come 17th im getting a 1080ti
as they have dropped a lot
I saved up to buy a wooting one and a gtx 1080 but only my gtx 1080 has arrived because USPS lost my wooting one ;_;
i'll go straight to the new series when it drops
if the improvement is large enough
Did you contact USPS? if you have any issues please contact social@wooting.nl
usually USPS will sort it out.
I'm going to contact USPS in a few days, judging by the tracking the same thing happened to this as happened to another package that was "In-Transit" every day for an entire year and then disapeared
@hard thicket ye, the price does not justify it at all
i am waiting for benchmarks before i decide tho
I should get insurance from USPS and buy a second one worst case, but it will still take forever
but for 550 quid a 1080ti seems logical
@hard thicket https://imgur.com/a/XCEqvww
i took the actual plate off
and it was burnt underneeth
it must have been loud
i sadly did not take a photo
when it popped off
i put it back in and it just kept crashing etc
maxed out i was getting 70c
xD
thanks to a disussion here was the only reason i noticed it before anything bad happened.
I was saying how low idle temps are
im still a huge fan of evga
their cooling is solid this issue aside
they did recall them
i have an evga motherboard that is serving me pretty well aside from having an lga1366 socket
so i basically have no chance of replacing my cpu without getting a new motherboard
thank!
It was a sacrifice
The next sacrifice is a razer blade
thats a lot of damage
even worse, try explaining to your ISP that you have high ping
I've never even known anybody thats spoken to an ISP rep that knows what latency is
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
and every time my internet cuts out i have to go through the whole process of
"ok now restart your router and PC for me"
make sound by hitting desk "done"
"ok thank you"
honestly, gonna make them replace my wiring as a last resort
becasue thats how far they will go
they wont listen to me
they make me sound crazy
if it takes an engineer to come out... so be it
LOL
lost count
tbh
28 minutes
to book an engineer
also
Me: Do you know what packet loss is?
Person: No
Me: Can you transfer me to someone who has the right skillset for this
Person: Is your connection not working for all.
i dont mean to be a cunt
but indians, whyyyy
im dead.... "i can see you call us every month"
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Is who what
Oh I thought I was in a different channel again, you meant the quote
Yes it's my jsl
Isp
its the ASUS on newegg?
newegg had one for about that price I think it was an ASUS maybe was an MSI
that vats a killer
Great
Router isn't working
My router I think has legit died
All i want to do
is have a nice evening
to chill
its all i want.
router is fine, for some reaosn i had to manually change my local ip.
Also i need a new gpu
sick of this shit
Nice minecraft mod
been really looking forward to this
but because my connection is utter shit
geforce now is unusable
Epic minecraft shader
There's been a bunch of refurb $150 1070's here
No numbers for now. Only the unbox NDA ended.
fuckin NDAs
lol
He wasn't unboxing RTX cards
The shirt is a troll, he's talking about a switch
Pretty cool switch as well... But still a switch
i mean.. come on
just the title proved it already
that it was a joke
the day the GPU's get released, youtube fills up with reviews
or benchmarks-
@timid chasm @toxic jolt @tall finch @halcyon moss
those are still only nvidias numbers so eh
Idk if its worth getting a 2080 xD
wait 4 more days for reviews and we'll know
Ye I am haha
and i assume all those numbers are on a non-OC state
i'd like to know what you can juice out of the 2080
Considering nvidia are bragging about their one button oc
Wouldn't surprise me
Tho evga have been doing that for years
keep in mind reference cards already have some OC and these numbers are most likely with reference cards
I've seen the weirdest thing this generation
People are saying founders cards are usually more expensive than reference
No they aren't xD
well thats hard to say because the definiton of what they are changes every card generation lmao
Usually they are more underpowered too
compared to what?
well it's true that the founders cards had a higher price than the MSRP for the 10xx cards
So, how do we build a custom gaming PC? Well, it's not impossible to build your own Windows desktop. In fact, it's a great way to learn about what makes most...
aaaaaaaaaaaaa
LOOOL they disabled all the comments
why whats happened now
"your mother board will come with a cpu applicator to fit the cpu into the slot/holder"
pushes on the bottom of the cpu with a piece of plastic
time code?
they applied way to much thermal paste on the CPU and removed the spill later without showing or saying it in the video aswell
yeah XD
when you dont even need to change paste on coolers
and they avoided dual channel mem setup XD
they' probably heard once that thermal paste is bad and thought its the one on coolers and not the one below the IHS LUL
@pale sigil just watch the vod XD
the anti static wrist they use to protect shit also isn't plugged in so it doesn't protect shit
"place the power supply on the pads so it doesn't connect with the case and short-circuit the pc"
daddy?
it's not a how to, it's a video where someone makes a pc and fortunately nothing and nobody died
i have never used anti static wrist thing in my life
yeah
yeah it's not needed for everything
but if you make a how to and show how to use one, use it properly
not use it in a way it's not doing shit
well it's not for that situation...
i know
"molex to sata, lose your data"
i just wanted to say that xD
either way......that is how NOT to build a pc
the fact it even posted ............miracle
and how NOT to make a how to video you were sponsored to do
Since when was this a thing verge did
i know they write about tech
but a video like this o.0
couple days ago
Published on 14 Sep 2018
after someone from verge recently said tech youtubers are not journalists so the tech channels all made fun of this
$2000 PC
Very intensive game to run
LOL
1080p
ikr XD
LOL they disabled like ratio
comments i can accept
it had more dislikes than likes pretty quick

yeah
this vod shows the early like to dislike ratio
There's not enough silliness in that verge video
i want my money back
well they needed to make it look like they know what they do or the sponsor probably wouldn't have given them money for the video lol
I'd kill for 40% more single core performance over 6700k
I feel like I've become a meme
I've swapped from an iPhone X to a 5S and I dont see how people live without 3D touch
I tried Android and its still lacking
like I'm using a mouse without a middle click
I do really appreciate 3dtouch on my MacBook
Yeah
yeah you press harder and it does different stuff
the most useful is on links and such you can preview it in a window before you open the page
and it's noticeably faster than normal browsing
and on some apps you can press on the icon and you'll get like a set of quick options which can be useful
its absurdly useful but apparently no one uses it but me
I hate that feature so much
I can't click with those laptops
you try to click and it'll double click
or right click or something lol
probably just a me thing
Eh there's a city that offers gigabit for like 15 quid so.. Not completely insane

Oh oh oh oh
@sturdy crater UK it costs around £40+

hrm
apparently I need insulators for my psu so it doesn't come in contact with the case 🤔
😂
wat
That... doesn't make sense, isn't the case meant to be grounded and the PSU helps with that?
it's from the how to build a pc from the verge, that's how bad it was

you'll regret it if you do
unless you want to make fun of it, there's just too much wrong
too much but not enough to bother watching
watch an edit or something
haha, I figured that'd get an interesting response
My response.
@digital cliff and how does it make you feel
Hi guys, I suppose you may know what can possibly be wrong here:
Before I flashed the BIOS, CPU was at stable ~47°C. Fan operated normally.
I flashed the BIOS and suddenly the temperature started to raise up to 56°C, increased fan speed a lot (very audible) and temperature drops to 40°C. Repeating like every minute or two.
I already tried messing around fan speed/temp ratios in BIOS to stabilise the temperature but it keeps happening regardless.
I've replaced the thermal paste, but results are nearly the same.
Could it be a problem in voltage getting increased after bios update? Currently it's around 1.36 V and tends to randomly spike to 1.43 V.
Ryzen 7 2700X
In HWMonitor voltage is between 0.7 - 1.5
uhh I'd say lower the fan curve somewhere? not like 56C is much thought it is high for idle
also what tool do you use to get the temperatures?
Basic monitor things in UEFI and HWMonitor when in Windows
56 on ever core or just on some?
I only see one temperature output in HWMon
use HWinfo64 then, shows you temperature for every core
bc it could just be one sensor having an issue or so
To have the latest version installed
And it was really outdated
I see only one temperature sensor in HWinfo64 @ashen spindle
are you using auto voltage in bios?
only one? not something like this https://gyazo.com/fe9a9a24f4a7e5247f5b3375c57f1e71 ?
well if his was old it definitely didn't have any spectre/meltdown patches
I'm not up on the proper voltages for Ryzen but auto-voltage does nothing but cause problems in my experiences
I'll change the fan curve as for now and see how temperatures stand
yeah I'm kinda confused why it's only showing general temps, maybe it's a low end board with basically no sensors?
spikes to above 1.5? yikes
Since I've never done this, what should I do here?
Yeah.... look up guides. Several. One mistake and you fry the board 😄
Gotta learn what the limits are and stay below - And how to increase things in small increments.
£300 spent on a new phone + accessories. 1/3rd of my pay gone in 5 minutes thanks to a dodgy Brazilian man
That's nothing compared to how much others have spent on their phone
@sturdy crater yes but I think he's more self aware than others and won't spend more :p
No one needs a new phone every year
Yeah dude. I could spend a whole month's wages on a phone, but why would I? It was a good phone at a good price
Infact yes ;p
220 euros
its kind of set and forget phone so I want android one yeah so I dont need to tinker with the spyware
aww : (
I dont think they sell it here either. They only sell 6.1 but I think its different than the 6.1 plus
thought I saw it on amazon uk
heey
whats different with android One 8.1 and Android 8.0 One?
Can the other be updated to 8.1?
The hawai?
roots?
Have not, sorry
dont really want to overclock etc and Android One shouldnt have pre-installed crap atleast to my knowledge. Are there other benefits?
I haven't had the need to root in years
I had the Huawei P20 lite. Just bought the duel sim version (which I didn't know existed)
So I just ran through the rest of the verge video on how to build a PC and I've come up with a list of things that they've done wrong
let me guess, as many points on your list as they make in the video?
-and they said it worksheet is necessary on most surfaces
-you do not need a tool to apply thermal paste to CPU
-you do not need an allen wrench
-you do not use tweezers to tighten up the wires
-just use a regular screwdriver instead of a Swiss Army knife
-he puts on a bracelet which she calls an anti-static bracelet but it's not connected to the ground or table or anything it's just a stand-alone bracelet on his arm
-video editors tend to care about the power of the CPU and the amount of RAM
-if you're looking for a PC that can perform intensive tasks you're going to want decently high-end stuff
-the "brace" at the back is an IO Shield
-you do not need to align the motherboard I owe with the back of the computer when you screw it in it will be aligned anyway
-he puts the motherboard in without installing the Ram or the CPU
-he calls 2666 megahertz fast ram
-he opens all dim slots and puts both Ram modules beside each other so he's not getting dual Channel
-he talks about speed of a hard drive and then says it's best that you use an SSD which is a solid state drive not a hard disk drive
-it's a PNY GTX 1080
-says it doesn't matter which PCI slot you install the graphics card into... of course PCI slots have different bandwidth limitations the top slot usually in x16 slot
-says that you need to place the power supply on the "insulating pads" at the bottom of the case to prevent the power Supply from coming in contact with the case and short circuiting(im assuming they're there to dampen the noise)
-the power supplies fan pointing inwards and it's in the back chamber of the case
-puts the radiator in the case without mounting the fans on the radiator
-uses the wrong screws for the radiator
-what's the power supply in without plugging in the cables that he needs so now he has to plug in the cables while the power supplies in the case
-takes the socket covering off of the CPU socket
-call the socket a CPU holder/slot
Get something called a CPU applicator "cpu installation tool" and pushes the bottom of the CPU into the applicator with a piece of plastic
-later takes off the CPU applicator and puts it on the side
-Corsair cooler he's using already has thermal paste applied to it but he says it's not enough
-I don't need to explain much with the attached picture
-puts the fans not on the radiator, but on other mounts (is it called a mount?)
-cable management is horrific
-using League of Legends to benchmark
(I'm sorry for the wall of text)
Stop shaming PNY. Its ridiculous and uncalled for.
can't wait for the verge's RTX review with that case, because he is going to thermal throttle his card
Also mounting fans like that is pretty normal. As far as the radiator goes. He DID do it off camera though, because he's an idiot who forgot them.
no he didnt
ther fans are on the top of the case while the radiator is at the front
is that normal?
Wasn't the rad in the top with fans below?
nope
Shit... Now I gotta rewatch that Trainwreck
(it looks like that to me anyway)
-he puts the motherboard in without installing the Ram or the CPU
dont see anything wrong with putting in mobo without ram tbh
yeah it's better to put in the mobo without anything on it
?
why not get the basic stuff installed and make sure it posts out of the case so you dont need to tear everything out if something is DOA
@plush summit SHE? SHE!?!
fair enough
I thought it was a guy
im using voice to text
And imo 2666 is fast ram.. Not the fastest but its still fast.
@reef patrol nope, ur right...they installed the radiator and fans correctly afterwards
I mean it's hard to find something below 2400 so I wouldn't call 2666 fast
Intel only recommends 2100 I believe
nah they have 2666 as a base supported guarantee
for older chips sure
maybe you are thinking of the 7xxx CPU's , they were rated at
DDR4-2133/2400
Hmm maybe. Could swear it was the newer chips as well. I remember looking at ryzen and being like the rec speed is lower on Intel
well on ryzen you also gain more from faster memory
Ik just found it curious since both platforms actually gained some significant performance at around 3000-3200mhz I believe
well it's just that the specification means you need to not have any failures at that speed, so it's safer for them to stay lower
even though you barely have any issue with that ever, unless you go above 4000mhz or use a really cheap and bad mobo
Well rec speed should be what speed it runs best at imo. I.e. Ddr3 was 2400 I believe
noooo you never want that to be the case because then you get a shit ton of complaints from users with bad luck in the silicon lottery that can't run at those speeds
Ya but I've heard there's some people that can't even run at 2666 so..
then it's a bad mobo where it has to say in their handbook it's not supported
I'm running at 3000 megahertz with no issues
Most DDR3 was 1333/1600. You could get upwards of 2400, but it was rare and enthusiast.
does it make that much of a difference? ik it does with ryzen.....but with intel?
For games? Not really. It's hard to see improvements past 2400ish
For rendering and serious work? It can matter.
for 3D rendering, it matters quite alot. especially for the realtime render view.
for gaming, you might get slight above 3 extra frames per second (depending on the game)
So I pretty much paid extra for nothing
I want to get into rendering and stuff... I want to learn to use blender
