It went from 250 IPS (6m/s) to 400 IPS (10m/s)

Overall, I am happy. Hoping they made atleast some upgrades to the tracking algorithm. I've made the 3360 malfunction a few times, but not enough to bother me. Very rarely, but that 400IPS is nice upgrade, just hoping it doesn't mean performance degrade on some other aspect

I'm looking at the data sheets and it doesn't look like there is any negative compared to 3360, it's just a higher end sensor

I didn't fund it despite hyping it. Not convinced by the shapes; no guidance grooves on the buttons nor debris shelf for the underside. It might improve before finalisation, might but have doubts, just the limitation of not having more physical designing resources or lineage.

Never dropped or cracked a screen - But I know how expensive it is to do on my OP here, and a screen protector is peanuts in comparison. If it can save my screen even once, it's paid itself back 20 times or more.

I've peeled off screen protectors on iPhones, where the customer was sure the screen was cracked, and when we took it off, the glass was pristine underneath. Saved us an hour of work replacing the LCD, and the customer money for a new protector

If the protector cracked, there's a real risk it would have damaged the glass or LCD.

Protectors (we use) are a lot tougher than you seem to think 😄

To each their own - I'll happily pay 20€ for a chance that my expensive LCD doesn't need to be replaced. 😃

First party repair is hilariously expensive, and third party iPhone LCDs just don't have the same level of colour accuracy.

I have two, matte finish TN 1080p panels. The 2011 60hz BenQ has great colour rivaling some IPS that I've sat it by, and excellent backlight uniformity, decent darks and I've not noticed blur but a little ghosting, and tearing has been annoying. The newer 75hz AOC with freesync feels snappier but the backlights give bright edges, blacks can happen only in the centre, I cannot calibrate to good colours, sharpness seems the same, ghosting is a touch less, blur might be a little worse and freesync helps.
The points is - as similar to as tyuio says, I think all types of monitors can have a great amount of variance.

Burn in prone panels are just a no go for me. Too many static UI elements on TV channels and games.

I don't have any plans to replace my semi-smart Samsung TV to be honest. I just need a panel that works. I have a chromecast, a PC and speakers. I could use an IPS PC monitor, if they weren't so expensive at that size.

mocked upp my magnetic switch with a cyl3503 style sensor and an avr the other day, it seems I can get a decent analog range out of it. currently mucking about in freecad to make a 3d printable variant.

I started out from a desire for a tactile but clickless switch

figured the cubic force falloff from a magnet would make for a reasonable thunk if you pushed magnets apart

not so much, because I'd place a bouncable threshold at very strong fields, i.e. when the magnets are tight together. with the sensor sandwiched, other switches are definitely noise (being in precisely the right plane to have negligible effect and completely overwhelmed by the closest magnets)

yeah. one of my considered plans involves not using a hall effect IC at all, but differential ADCs measuring hall effect through a PCB used as the magnet shelf
