Like I said, a polling rate of 1000hz vs 125hz is only 3.5ms average delay, and ps2 still, even if it were instant would be 3,5ms less, but ps/2 is not instant. It has about 1ms delay for key press/release
Now what is interesting is, whether ps/2 and usb have different matrix scan rates in the same keyboard, or where exactly does the extra lag come from

I find the keyboard effects pretty redundant as most people don't look at their kb when they are playing. But with aurora I'm going to be making it so, in theory you could set up room lighting that would display those effects, which if that's your kinda thing, would be a lot better
I find mouse lighting to be especially redundant, as you pretty much can't see any of it when you're actually using the mouse. At least with the keyboard if you were to look at it you'd be able to see something

You might find that personal sweetspot on commercial products, or Artisan. They're all a bit different
Have you used a mouse below 75g? with a paracord without shielding? 90% of the mousepads become way uncontrollable
The mass becomes too little to sink into the pad to increase friction, unlike with heavier mouses. The way around it, is having a light mouse and finding a higher friction surface.

windows 7 you could disable aero (composition) which is basically windows's own Vsynch (double buffered) so you have 2 frames of lag on 144hz. With windows 8.1 forward this can't be disabled so you're stuck with the desktop vsync and 2 frames of delay unless you use exclusive fullscreen in games

So far my favourit Boards are the Corsair k65 and now the Wooting One. My favourit mice are the zowie ec2a and Logitech g703.
The build quality of the zowie mice is pretty good, and while mice with a 3310 Sensor should be cheaper, you wont notice the difference between 3310 and 3360/3366.
To me personaly it's better, the g403 has a lot of issues. Most arrive with a rattling scrollwheel. Had 2 faulty ones from Amazon and tested 5 at a lokal Mediamarkt, all had the scrollwheel issue. And I personally don't need makros for my mouse so the plug n play no Software ec2a is perfect for me.
Thats also why I got the g703 without having Logitechs special mousepad. I just couldnt find a perfect wireless 403. Some wired ones were ok.
If it's wireless concider yourself lucky.
From what I experienced myself and heard from lots of other people, you have an okish Chance of getting a proper wired one, but a perfect wireless seems pretty hard to find.

Old installs, a few specific apps like spybot can cause issues.
You'll see one of two issues. One - No desktop, just a black screen and mouse (You "should" be able to fix this by starting explorer.exe from task manager once"
Two - Boots up into recovery mode every time, and can't fix itself (I believe there's a MS forum thread to help you with commands()
