My friend bought an Xbox Dev kit that the seller rubbed a ups label off
But my friend managed to reveal the address and if showd a location were Sega Europe used to be located

is there anyone that owns both a steelseries & wooters product?
how come
would like to know how you think they compare based on your experience
very fast response btw, almost thought you were a bot right there haha
thinking about buying that sexy wooters keyboard, as I donโt really like my steelseries keyboard atm
and was looking for something fresh on the market
switches that require you to really push your finger in order for them to work
& rgb of course
couldnt go without
Iโm new to mechanical keyboards, what exactly does linear & non-linear mean?
what do you exactly mean with โbumpโ?
Wise choice ๐ any questions we are here.
Did 3klikphillip test the input speed at all? And I wonder if he used the beta fw for it
are you on about the guest streamer?
ohhh
the video in #๐ฌโgeneral
3kliksphilip video he released about wooting
it's btw 2.45ms for wooting one itself and 1.75ms for his computer if you read the twitter link
Anybody have personal experience or an opinion for ASRock mobos?
Me
I need to go sleep
One of the best motherboards I've ever used
Tho I used it for amd
ASRock generally makes good boards but look at reviews for whatever specific board you're buying obviously
My personal experience with a handful was positive, they're solid boards. Not played around with any new ones but that's because I didn't have to, so let that be a testament to their durability
Currently using their B350 ITX board but ordered a Pro4 and the reviews were mostly decent but wanted to hear if anybody had personal experience with them
@fickle ore as far as I know he didn't
Last board for my 7700K was ASRock. No complaints there.
is ASRock that used to be part of Asus
Yep. Way back in like early 2000s
do you know why they actually split up?
Their boards are pretty solid in general. I use an ASRock X370 board to benchmark CPU coolers with. Pretty big overclock on a Ryzen 1500X just to generate as much heat as possible.
I need this in my life. So cute!
wasn't that on ks
Wouldn't surprise me.
i miss luke
Yeah...
It was @pale sigil
Anki has been doing great work in such stuff for pretty long. The Anki overdrive was also good.
This is the life
Notice any input latency with those controllers @reef patrol

There's bound to be some.
Three obvious factors.
- Using software emulation
- HDMI instead of CRT
- Bluetooth connections add a bit as well.
I can't feel it, but I know people mention it in more competitive areas.
- user has brain delay

Competitive won't be an issue for me if I ever get around to doing mine but so long as it's not noticeable to the avg person. I'll have to consider one of those controllers
several people
I suggest going for the larger SNES style ones. The NES sized ones aren't quite as well built, and the joysticks are a bit meh.
any of you guys getting mouse problems?
(laggy mouse, or not working at all for like half a second)
Not to my knowledge.
Iโm getting an i7 8700k and a new motherboard somewhere next week (i dont know why it would be cpu related, currently have an i3 6700), and I hope itโll be fixed. It mostly occured in R6S and has come to a point where it actually doesnโt even work anymore so I might have to buy a new mouse.
Works alright in other games though.
There hasn't been a breach though
Mistakes like this shouldn't happen - Least of all after more than a handful of similar cases over recent years.
Lastpass, Flem ๐
I use LastPass rando gen
Then use one of the locally stored ones ๐
KeepPass
Never heard of it.
Meh
I wrote a research paper on both of them
For security
KeePass is popular mansen lol
It's just not the same as lastpass
They focus on local storage
I know of the concept - Just not Kee ๐
I only use Lastpass for anything non-critical.passwords. Forums, Websites and such. Banking, Social Security and such all use unique and handcrafted passwords - and more importantly 2 factor.
Doesn't really matter
Same situation would happen if you were breached locally
You can't access the data
Regardless of breach or not
@reef patrol i... May use lastpass for 2fa too lol
My bank uses multiple passwords anyway so you can't store it
Biggest issue with Lastpass imo, is that on mobile it always asks for the password.
Anything I don't feel safe having stored I just won't
That's not an issue lmfao
That's security
Otherwise your shit would be unencrypted all the time
I mens
Unencrypted
I'd like the option not to have to do it. ๐
Especially since it's an option on Desktop ๐
That's beyond dangerous and they wouldn't risk that for anyone lmao
Yes you are right
Actually
I just use Fingerprint
Easy life
@digital cliff lastpass has just become so crucial in my everyday life
And the fact I can access it anywhere is even better
Even if LP Is breached the data gained is useless
It's why you can't forget password like mega
KeePass has had more vunrabilties actually
Well no becsuee if your system was compromised for some reason
Then you would have been screwed
But there's no such thing as no risk these days
So whatever you use works then good
Aye
Deffo
Took me years tbh
To use lastpass
you can make keepass cloud as well btw
just put the "database" on onedrive
(literally the only thing on my onedrive i guess :D)
I do that too
It really helps since I have a randomly generated password on every site
speaking of which, seems like I have to get one for Twitter
i have my own passowrd
they range from simple 8 characters, to massive ones with special characters and such ๐

I use hunter2
ooh
Ah, I see you're a man of culture too
why do you say so ๐
(posted in the wrong channel ๐ ) Wow. Ryzen is a beast at streaming while gaming. I knew it was good at multi-tasking but damn.
๐
My old Xeon wouldn't even do 1080/60 via el gato but this 1700x handles it while gaming in bf1. Veerrry surprised.
Ye I noticed this especially when I was using an i5
But when I got my 7700k it was a lot better
From what my friend has shown me the extra cores help a lot
Ryzen is great in that area
And cheap if wanting to make a stream machine
From what I've seen the 7700k doesn't even keep up with the 1700 when doing both which honestly surprised the shit out of me.
It was a lateral move mostly in terms of gaming from a 4690k@4.5 but overall I'm pretty happy.
Ah you used nvenc instead of x264?
I do miss the overclocking range though, haha
5ghz atm
Though I'm thinking of loeering it
Lowering
Due to summer heat
And my room gets around 28-30c
I only have a h80i
Was able to bump the 4690k up 1Ghz without touching voltage but I can only get 300 Mhz here lol
30c?? jesus
Our whole house stays 20-21C except winter when my fingers get cold
But during hardcore temps like a few weeks ago
It was up to 30
I've had a few blue screens becsuse I always have my fans on 5% and when booting up a game I completely forget! Lmfao
As great as Ryzen is, I'm moving over to Intel again. My 1700 just isn't being used to its potential. I'd rather have better FPS in games ๐
So time to pass it on.
@reef patrol i never thought I'd hear you say that
But it's the reason I'm staying with intel, raw performance.
Ryzen has more cores ye
I got the ryzen to help a colleague with rendering, but it was never relevant.
And wayy better in some scenarios
Tbh though there are still games when amd is wayy less performance than intel
Idk why
Probably becasue it's not optimized to use all cores
Or something
The 700-1200mhz core difference mostly.
Ah
The first generation of Ryzens will only go as high as 3.8 ish, and 4-4.1ghz if overclocked, depending on your luck. Second gen is a tiny bit easier to get to 4.2-4.3
Intels start at 4.7ghz and can OC to 5.2 in a few cases.
And most games are still mainly single or "few cores" designed. Typically a main thread on a core, and some offloaded stuff where possible on 3-4 others.
Yeah, I've noticed intels OC much easier than most AMD overall
After 5ghz is when you need to worry about voltages etc
I really need a better psu
I've been using the same psu for like 4 uesrsn
I'd say they are equally easy to OC in terms of finding the right voltages et cetera. But Intel just clocks higher in general.
Years
But they don't take that OC from the FX 8x series ๐
Way more than 4 lmfao
Granted the IPC is still shit
I think the FX 8x series hits 8-8.5 for the extreme OCers
I remember making the move from an FX 6300 to a 4690k
3570K to a 7600K to a 7700K to a Ryzen 1700 in the course of... 4 months ๐
I can't remember
6850 to 270x to 970 to 1070
Before that I honestly can't remember again
I miss that 6850
I thought about trying to get an 8600k but settled on the 1700x since I got it, a mobo, and a prism cooler for 275
before my 6300 was a Phenom 9600 ๐
Still have the phenom, it's mobo, and ram haha
Ugh, windows activation woes. Kill me.
What
I assume their servers are being turds since it's digital activation and should be tied to my account
One can only hope.
And yeah - Windows keys are either tied to your motherboard's serial number (and some other data from it) or your Microsoft account, if you use those in Windows.
Usually if a reinstall can't find the key, you can just click "troubleshoot" in the activation menu and it finds it anyway.
yeah troubleshoot gives no useful info so im guessing its down for now
Not tied to your account unless you first did an install and logged into your account
I found it being linked to your account absolute cancer
It's bene tied to my acc tin the past
I just skip key and let it auto do it's shit
Unless I change motherboard then I just enter the key
I have quite a few windows 10 keys In general so I'm not worried haha
getting somewhat excited looking into keyboard pcbs lol
groups projects
8700K bought. Now I gotta off load nah Ryzen

@digital cliff damn it my friend could have uses it
People like my friend are still using Intel duos with ancient gpus
You'd be surprised
what one and how much ๐
How much?

Honestly I'll probably try to sell it to a watercooling user, since I'd get stuck with the monoblock otherwise ๐
ugh there is such a small market for 75% boards
i could do this https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/75-sprit-mx-clears-custom-wooden-case-t8304.html
Talk, knowledge and expertise regarding mechanical keyboards and other computer input devices.
there are plenty of metal cases out there
but i dont like metal cases
and they are expensive
75% is more expensive than i realised
@digital cliff no
PCBs are just more expensive in general etc
Again no
for example cases for 75%
barely anyone makes them
and they are a high price
ye but i typed that as you sent it
But ye, its not expensive tho
all stuff excluding keycaps 85
pounds
60% is literally so cheap
normal keycaps work just fine
ye thats true
im considering all options really
or i could be weird
and just not care
xD
and that ye
i was thinking that
printing
running low on % space on the C ssd.. should probably reinstall everything i can onto he hdd
nah
makes a bunch of symbolic links
40% free up from 20% for 3 months
With a sample size of 1, hibernation with 16GB uses more SSD cycles than shutting down and restarting ๐ค
43% free, but i can still symlink more things \o/
It is
Because it saves your complete state to your ssd
Not just what is in your ram
I do load a lot of things after startup though, so it was worth checking
Same for me
But nowadays I just set everything I need to auto start
I feel that sleep mode still fucks up a lot
The power quality in this specific place is too broken for sleep
i get bsod every other time
will consider EEC ram in the next build
@fickle ore ooft
it was announced on CES, under 1 grand end of year
that article is from CES
crush my hopes for news why dont you
Doesn't OLED suffer from burn-in more than some of the others?
also who needs 4k 144 anytime soon, damn
yes
Yeah I know it's from CES somehow I missed it. Wasn't even aware of this monitor before. Its the 2nd OLED monitor available so it's exciting "news" to me nontheless
OLED sounds nice on paper, but I honestly doubt we'll see it in mainstream use for a while.
I hope your doubts are ungrounded ๐
It has been very very slow adaptation, when will it change?
More smartphones and tables have started to use it, which brings down cost in general. I expect within 3-4 years, we'll see a serious selection, not just a few special monitors.
Yeah hope so. Think I have to buy the first ROG 240hz OLED gaming even if it were close to 1k, promised myself a long. Maybe the first will arrive this or next year? ๐
I just don't think I could bet on an OLED as much as I leave my computer on with static images
can't you turn monitor off when you afk?
we'll have to go back to screen savers
I just press button on my monitor, it goes black
easier than setting a screen saver lol
Only once
monitor blank is money well saved ๐
if I were super worried about that my PC wouldn't run nearly 24/7 ๐
I'm saying if I were worried about saving money on my power bill I'd actually shut down my PC often
I don't understand
You said a blank monitor is money saved on the power bill
So why do you leave it on?
because I'm up and down a lot all through the day and night sometimes only for a bit and turning it on and off and waiting is annoying
SSD is like 10 sec boot
which is fine once or twice but it's annoying over and over and over
of course not. That's not even comparable
but whatever ๐
it isn't though because a car starts up instantly and you only use it to travel whereas I use my PC nonstop all day
If it's a time when my schedule is fairly common then yeah I'll turn it off when I'm finished
eeeh u know what suspend is right?
suh-spend?
I think he means sleep for the computer, but unsure.
lol, I'm just being a turd
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Any ideas how I could improve performance on my Intel Sandybridge system without fully upgrading to a newer platform? I have I7 2600k at 4.3ghz and ddr3 at 2133/cl10 T1
Yea somehow still rocking Overwatch at 250-300fps lol
sometimes it just drops to like 200 when theres moira and bridgette
And the spectre stuff has hit my processor really hard
the 2600k is still pretty beefy but it's starting to show it's age compared to the new stuff. Main reason I upgraded from a 4690k since a used 4790k was essentially the same price as an upgrade.

Welcome to ShofEL2, our Nintendo Switch / Tegra X1 exploit. More details in the blog post, including fully open source Linux boot stack: https://fail0verflow...
can you still recover it?
its using homebrew or something
someone got fortnite running from linux
not that i like it
but the protential to run games from linux!
I rather keep the console than a painful version of Linux
Ok then it sounds like a upgrade
i might get one, try it out and sell my IPad
if i can use this instead for my basic needs inlcuding netflix etc
might be worth legit selling my ipad
My IPad is a glorified word/netflix tablet
@pale sigil Wine has long been a thing
Has nothing to do with Wine
Wine runs windows application on UNIX system
Games that run native in Linux is what im saying
I know
I have used wine for years
idk why this comes into the convo
When i said booting games in linux on the switch
I saw "but the protential to run games from linux!" and decided to mention Wine
fair
Wine does cause some loss in perfomance though
so running it natively is more optimal
Wine never worked for my library
only really laggy/buggy like no text rendering
the asking price for a switch is so steep
What's it at atm?
$'s?
pounds
THATS EVEN WORSE!
Exactly
Dock is literally plastic with a HDMI port
the issue for me is that maybe 1 or 2 games id actually play on the switch
everything else i dont care for at all
Thats just for the base, right? Then there is the games?
Well
i mean
if you want to play switch games ye
But i want a switch to boot linux up
So its not limited to the switch software?
i feel bad for my IPad, literally just in my draw not being used since i finished uni (Mid march)
@glad scroll What do you mean
I meant to make it so that its not limited to only using the switch software and games?
if you're on about the exploit, its done by overloading the joystick port
so its a hardware exploit
hence why you need to buy a switch now`
because they will bring out a new hardware version of the switch to stop it
All switches are exploitable right now, nothing to stop the exploit
Nice.
While BoTW does look tempting, I'll wait for an emulator or something

It's gotiem!
i have a friend who plays games 24/7 and doesn't know how to replace a graphics card from his motherboard
he's 21 and he's going to ask his unkle to put it in for him
@sudden glacier I mean that isn't that surprising
Mmhmm. I have plenty of customers who game constantly, but can't swap parts and have us do it for them. It's like having a car doesn't mean you can change the oil and tires. You COULD learn how to, but it's easier to pay your way out of it.
Pretty much
We had - No joke - a twenty something CS:GO semi pro come into the store today and ask us to install an SSD for him. Rush job.
Oh
quite interesting
I mean, he does know how to open the pc and he can point at the gpu
how can he not know how to replace it
it's the same gpu, just replace what was there
@pale sigil The emulator runs horribly though
I tried it once before, and the lag is terrible. You get used to it but it still crashes a lot and is buggy
@carmine valley runs fine for me
might do now
You probably tried it before the 4k60 patch
12+ for me
yeah, I got it summer 2017
since I wanted to compare the emulator to the real thing
but then again I have a pretty eh PC
Not gonna lie, for a split second I thought @reef patrol had some weird custom clock computer thing going on there.
Hahaha. Yeah the Taichi has the clock gear design down. ๐
Glanced over to my other monitor and was like "Are those gears??"
๐
It's not my favourite design, but it was the best board for overclocking in that price range.
Sometimes you gotta make sacrifices
it looks a bit weird to me though, does it have so little resistors etc on it?
or are they just hidden?
Eh?
my board is literally covered with resistors etc
Yeah a lot of the capacitors and stuff is hidden away where possible. The gaps are mostly for mobo screw mounts. And the VRMs are covered by a heatpiped dual heatsink.
and then for you, where the m.2 slot is, there is nothing
Gotta keep dem M2's cold.
Windows April Update is now ready, its not being pushed to windows update yet, but its cleared windows insider.
ye no chance

<-MS pointing at the back of my head
I just saw it right now
Last I heard was it being delayed
Then I just remembered about it a moment ago

Windows Update will now prevent a PC on AC power from going to sleep if there is an update pending in the last two hours.
feels special with his Windows 10 Pro running on the bushiness branch and with Metered network on.
disease free immortality
I don't even have spectre patches \o/

so.. If i'm running a 6700k at the stock 4gz turbo and I am 100%ing a single core while running the precise processing equivalent of 210 frames per second,
is anything really worth the upgrade for single core performance?
nope
ok then :C
As long as it can produce more frames than your monitor's refresh rate(Measure in Hertz), you're good.
That way you get the most out of the gaming experience.
funny for you to say frames as the processing equivalent uses the terminology frames and the monitor can produce more of them than my screen's refresh rate
I am talking audio at very low buffer sizes (pretty much the same problems as huge framerates)
but i guess it's not very low by modern standards, ~4ms
That sounds like the software isn't very well designed if it only maxes out one core
Alright
the sofware(s) support probably as many cores as you throw at them. outside of the ones that use hardware licencers i bet
@pale sigil I'm not sure how legit the function is, but Microsoft is atleast attempting to be transparent with their users and implements a function for viewing what is sent to MS
The picture is from HowToGeek, as my update isn't complete.
Probably cos of the latest stuff with fbook
i ahve noticed everything i use change the way they do shit
In a good or bad way?
as in being more open
hm.. does faster ram help ridiculously high frame rates?
With games?
well I don't generally expect people here to be playing around with audio
Anything above 2400 isn't going to help games, no.
I don't know what workload you're doing so I can't tell if it's going to work for you.
Unless you're on Ryzen, in which case faster RAM = faster CPU.
yeah it's a great shame about the ryzen, i hope threadripper 2 together with fast ram can work out on the low latencies/frame times
Someone: the workload is very similar to games at very high frame rates (150 and higher)
It's not a shame at all. It's a huge benefit actually ๐
shame for intel users
no, it's a shame that it's not this amazing 16 core monster
Still outperforms ryzen tho
For games, the only difference the ram makes is that if you've got too slow ram, its bad, but besides that, there is no real benefit. Ram is never really the bottleneck (assuming you have enough ram, like 8 or 16 GB) when it comes to games, its almost always the Graphics Card.
When its not the Graphics Card, its probably the driver.
yes, but i do mean at absurd frame rates
that is a bit of an uncharted territory, to some extent
CPU doesn't really give you much fps gains
It's almost never going to be the bottleneck
depends
Yeah that definitely depends on the game ๐
well i guess i cant put this off any longer
downloading latencymon
@pale sigil The Diagnostic Data Viewer doesn't even come with the update, its an app you download from the microsoft store, hahahahahahah
That app is the real death flag ๐ค
If you look at its permission
oh my
They are all "Can do this without alerting you"
Even camera, microphone and position

Everything
and this is from ms?
Every possible permission you can think of.
Yeah
What a way to show off that they are not facebook to the users.
Some apps or games need specific hardware or software features to work properly on your Windows 10 Devices.
Edit: Found it in english.
Android P is pretty weird so far
**
You're going to see almost zero difference.
Again... we're talking 1-2FPS difference between 2133 and 3200 in most games.
The most radical example I can think of is Tomb Raider, which gets a solid 22FPS difference from low to high.
For Honor goes from 195 to... 196FPS.
So... you're using an extreme edge case ๐
Again - You're not going to see a radical difference there either.
So... you swapped DDR architecture. That's not even remotely applicable haha ๐
At least compare apples to apples, man. 2133 to 3200.
High speed DDR3 was such a crapshoot of incompatibility and poor chipset architecture. There is a ton of variables there in play.
I remember when TridentZ pushed 3200Mhz DDR3. Such a hilarious niche.
Because it made no practical difference, and finding a motherboard that supported it while the CPU was overclocked was like finding a Starbucks in a jungle.
There's always a niche. I don't deal in niches. ๐
I deal in mainstream - Where niches don't belong.
People demanding hilarious FPS in CS:GO makes my eyes roll hard.
I care, because they complain to me when they can't get 900FPS in their games, because I installed an i7 and a 1080...
Sure... because ONLY getting 400FPS is SUCH a big loss.
I remember a parent and their teen coming in mad as heck that the PC they bought elsewhere did not provide "600 FPS in CS:GO" but only a stable 150 or so.
It took almost twenty minutes to explain to them that the idiot was lying to them, and that 150 was more than they'd ever need.

I've got a couple of Home Minis scattered around
is kinda handy once you get over the creepy factor
Yeah, I love the squeeze
Tfw decide to try android p, my mobile game doesn't work now
android why are you like this
What games? @tiny tide
Uh kingdom hearts union cross doesn't work for me on android p
Not surprised Square Enix suck
Going to try it now on Android P
Yep, doesn't even open
yeah I wonder if alot of gacha games are like this
I should probably let someone at Square Enix know
according to reddit it happens on other square mobile games like opera omnia
I don't know if its an old or an already existing function, but instead of a popup message from the taskbar that disappears 5 seconds later, they are all now collected in the message system. (on Windows)
anyone online that's really good with computers?
I have a little problem and my friend that's good with computers is not online
what's the issue?
my system sound sounds really flat, and its really quiet too
I just got a new motherboard today, and I think that's the reason why because this is the first time it occured
have you tried turning it off and on again?
Do you have any monitoring tools for fan curves etc?
Well, the speed that fans will spin at under certain loades
So for example if your PC is under load they'll spin faster
Your fans might just be spinning slowly. Is this idle or under load when it seems quiet?
how does that affect system sound?
The faster a fan spins, the louder it will be
I think what wanger is getting at is maybe there's a lack of power
Oh right
oh nvm
Hard drive sounds?
No
I mean my volume
His system sounds
like
ooooo
kickedbyconsole, restart your PC first
i see i see
did that around 10 times
Right
installed new drivers from realtek
mhm, it's probably your soundcard
it was fine until I got my new motherboard
it's a little thing on your motherboard, since you mentioned you got a new one
I assume it's something to do with the way it's been installed
which brand @carmine valley ?
do you know if you have a sound card built into your motherboard, kickedbyconsole?
@solar hinge I have no idea, I'm not the one with the issue
well I guess otherwise I don't think I could be able to hear anything
which brand of motherboard
gigabyte aorus z370
the RGB one?
yes
Can you try installed drivers for Sound BlasterX 720
The motherboard you bought has a horrible built in sound chip
So if you do have a soundcard, I recommend installing it
?
I don't think its that bad as this motherboard is way better than my old one in general
could you give me a quick explanation of what a sound chip is
and the difference between a chip & sound card
and how can I see if I already have a soundcard, and how do I uninstall it?
a sound chip is just a sound card that's integrated into the motherboard
if you put a soundcard into the motherboard, there should be slot for it like you'd get for other external bits, then it should override the soundchip
wait
is there a difference if I plug my headset into the front thingies or directly into my motherboard
no
sometimes there is
yeah but not really for audio jacks
might as well just try it out
that only applies to USB really
since it can sometimes be powered and unpowered
yeah, do @midnight trail
yeah, I think either
you set up your motherboard wrong, or there's an issue with the sound chip
well one of my friends did it for me, as I don't know much
he installed it correctly last time so..?
he has his own it company
hrm
i'm guessing it's an issue with your sound chip then
you're gonna want to install an external sound card
how?
They're normally PCI cards, should just slot right into your motherboard
so that basically means I have to sit without normal sound for a few days
Potentially yes
oh wait he told me he forgot to install some drivers
xd lol
i have the cd so i should be fine
lol, a cd
@midnight trail There often/sometimes depending on who you ask is a difference between you plugging on the front or rear panel, the front panel often has minimal or no protection from interference/noise of the other components on the motherboard, the rare panel a lot more often than not does
your usual realtek on a current motherboard is miles ahead of what it was a decade ago though
It won't help with those horrible audio wires going through the case though ๐
that's why you use the rear panel, like you said
Mhmm.
still haven't been arssed to measure the difference between a realtek and a proper dac, only checked the distortion, but audibly I suspect a big deal is a highpass filter set higher or less steeply on a realtek
most realteks, phones and whatnot i tested started distortion at possibly audible levels at around 30% volume slider output
with the maximum output distorting well around -30dB which is way too distorted
all manners of phones being the worst offenders, they had resampling issues too
But can i say "you have to have a external sound card"-no
realistically a dedicated DAC won't give you much of an improvement, it's really just an improvement you're looking for with an amp, be it a lower noise floor, output impedance, or just more power to drive a higher impedance headphone. Tons of snakeoil in the headphone business, people who hear a difference between dacs haven't done a double blind test. (Why I sold my gimby)
as long as you're coming out the back of the pc you won't notice interferance
Mhmm. Mostly about eliminating case interference.
Have you done a double blind? I have and didn't notice the difference in dac quality
Plenty of times.
most things have a noise level of less than -96
you can't go lower
they even claim 112 these days
that's not what I'm saying lol, I'm talking about the actual loudness of the headphone in the comparison
noise floor is not an issue, besides what would you double blind? just messure that
double blind is the basis to scientific testing in the headphone industry, loudness is a key factor to humans believing something is better
I always test at low volumes. I hate loudness ๐
They're not fucking stupid, they're the best way to determine
psychoacoustics mess up everything, so really if you can't measure it, you can't hear it
How else are you gonna test, raw data can only say so much, are you going to tell me that a noise floor like this has a difference?
what amp do you have
do you only have that one power cable
It's probably better to contact whoever you bought it from, unless you did it DIY
then it is probably an issue with a capacitor or something
do you have a high power lamp next to your amp by chance
lol
Then yeah I've not got much of a clue to be honest
You could try using a multimeter to test voltages across the boards

Nil: the noise floor on that is like -110db you can't hear it with anything playing at the same time
it might just be faulty wiring to speaker out
I think you're arguing for my point, is there a misunderstanding
no I'm just saying that you should forget the word noise floor :p
Hmm, noise floor on amps is a thing though, I can hear it on my andromedas etc
it shouldn't be a thing on headphone amps
on well built amps it isn't, but alot of things by schiit and some chinese companies it is
realteks don't have a problem with the noise floor
Audible hissing
either way, harmonic distortion, frequency response, inertia all can be measured
if you start doing blind tests you're going to depend on the volume, content; person; their age; their ear outside;their ear canal; preference
it moves from science into critics
well, it shouldn't depend on volume if you match the volume on both amps and use the same headphone

I'm not talking about sighted A/B testing, I'm talking about using a multimeter along with a sound level meter and an A/B switch
There are obviously flaws in this method, but it is the best and currently closest to the scientific method
doesn't that just blanket everything in audio though
you can explain things with it but you will be explaining a completely subjective analysis
and if it's subjective it's not very scientific
audio is subjective
but then what's the point of the ab tests
that's margin of error (among listeners)
if you analyse it without a/b listening you can make some concrete conclusions
that are one way and not the other
this one has more distortion, this one has less dampening around xyz Hz, that is around 2.5khz which maybe less pleasant at volume levels wyz
the point of ab tests is moreso for testing digital algorithms and people who claim to notice the difference in compression methods to be honest, I do agree with you on how margin of error, user preference to a certain sound, and the like
affect results
but there is a point where distortion isn't audible, it is just obvious when it is
digital compression algos base their whole philosophy on what the designers choice of what's important from the point of psychoacoustics, i personally prefer the mpeg model over oog vorbis
nil: yes that distortion and the intermodulation it causes isnt audible at around -96dB
I can't really tell the difference between mpeg vs ogg vorbis tbh
try lowering the quality factor just a bit it will become obvious
then increase it and you will hear it
I don't think I have music below 320kbps
is that mp3?
yes
well damn, you absolutely can
it's brickwall low passed at 16khz
and honestly, sounds better than ogg at medium high quality factor :D that is touted as better than mp3, which you could say is closer to the original waveform, but closer to medium it is noticeably smeared
it's just a bit louder really, i think it's mostly that, i mean compared to the same bitrate ogg vorbis, not medium-high
it's deep in the night, just bare with me ;)
like source>amp-non_amplified_output_>active speaker?
pc -> o2 desktop amplifier -> active speakers
I know there is no reason to, just cba pulling stereo-headphone everytime I wanna change ๐
this reads on o2 page
Thanks to the RCA output (switched off when headphones are plugged in) you can use it as well to drive some monitor speakers or power amplifier. Even so it is not its original intend, it works very well...
So does that exclude active speakers? :/
power amplifier means active speakers too
and monitor speakers means active speakers
Alright hmm, weird
just be careful wit the knob
monitor speakers connected to that thing are mostly/almost entirely active
Maybe that's what causes the very loud ongoing hiss. It's like super loud, 120db ๐
Then i fix it by unplugging amp power cord, and there's very loud pop
120db is <run away> territory btw
ok perhaps not 120db
just that you know
90db im sure
anyway
well i'd have to hear it to make a good guess
but the solution is the same
don't
How can I connect my active speakers to my PC then there's only 2 RCA's for the amp :/
y splitter
well how many headphone/line outs you have?
is this a realtek?
no idea what it was
but anyway, to avoid the problems of a y splitter, get a 3.5mm stereo to stereo rca cable
I have 2 RCA, 1 Headphone out on the Soundcard
I bought the amp for the headphone so I wanna use it with that
active speakers I Iwouldnt mind connecting straight into pc
Y splitter I have
Ye I have that
Connectivity Options (Main)
Headphone:
1 x Amplified 1/4" jack
Speaker Out:
2 x RCA (L / R)
2 x 3.5mm jacks (Rear, C/Sub)
well shit
get a 3.5 to rca
plug it into rear/csub and rerout it as line out i bet you can
rerout?
set it to line out instead of rear and c/sub
Thanks, if that work it solve all my problems, I just idk if it's possiible
Active speakers have their own power cord
active means the amp is inside already
yea both amp power cord is 2 pronges and speaker power cords (x2) have 2 prongerinioes
tino: just because you use a shuko does not mean the device could not be "double insulated" hence not requiring the ground
but you are right for the misunderstanding
Cheers m8
naga is the speaker plug big like a pc power cord or flat?
well goodnight then
no ground there
nagga does the bang increase in loudness with time?
What means feedback in this case? i'm pretty audio noob
sound goes in>amplifier amplifies sound>louder sound goes out but also
louder sound goes back into amplifer>gets louder
repeat
feedback amplification is a popular method of amplification
the output is connected to the input in a fancy way
somwhere along the fancy something goes wrong
Ahh, it's just weird it happens like 3 times a day
maybe the component that handles the feedback is faulty
can you not use the amp and see if that helps?
Yepp, i'll try now Tyio, connected the spekaers with y-splitter and 3.5mm goes to my soundcard
I try to see if I I get a sound
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative-feedback_amplifier#/media/File:Block_Diagram_for_Feedback.svg
Denmark. Keeping it simple. Only time you see a 3rd grounded leg is from (insert expletive) laptop manufacturers who don't get it.

most of europe uses the schucko
@glad scroll pls
Is that what they're called? I thought schucko was the small ones for consoles and such.
@reef patrol you can call it the Schutzkontakt
sadly I can't get any sound from the 3.5mm rear or the c/sub ports
you sure you cant rerout it?
alternatively, why not use your onboard soundcard for something
using both is possible via software stuff
I dunno how to reroute but nothing in creative software for that
thanks for that suggestiion
Yeah, still not the ideal solution
the other way is to get a routing progam
That, or perhaps there exists an amp that has 2 "unamped" RCA outputs?
yes, it's your realtek
which i bet is 7.1
+front ports
all can share the same stream
your audio program most of the time can rout to a specific output
and soon you will be able to do tha in windows natively
goodnight
gn! and thanks
anyone know anything about android?
I'm trying to make a shortcut that opens chrome in a new tab / a way to make NONE of the android apps open links "nativly"
"natively"

Google Duplex scares me
It's cool tho
It's cool yeah, but innovation in the name of innovation without considering the morality of it is concerning to me
Especially when one can consider the effect it might have on the elderly and the tools it can give to bad actors
Welp, idk why i never thought of this before
but maybe the sun directly shining onto my radiator and pc in general is causing my temps

@tiny tide People can take advantage of the elderly anyway, and as it becomes more commonplace the elderly will die off and be replaced with those more risk averse to these things
the radiator etc are quite cool, entire case is cool etc
i dont get why my temps are like 50-75c
different programs are giving different temps
by 50-75 do you mean 41-69?
That's some weird idle temps
That's what my 1700x has been max over the past day and that's with gaming
I think it's something to do with voltage
I just defaulted everything in bios
And I'm getting 40 idle (bare in mind fans aren't maxed out)
Nope
Still high
sure you got a good spread on thermal paste?
time for LN2
liquid nitrogen
Weirdly the pipes are really cool and so is the radiator
The Google I/O 2018 keynote had a bunch of major announcements about Android P, Google Assistant, and more. Hereโs the most important news to know. Subscribe...
@pale sigil sounds exactly like the heatpipes not working
check your paste and stuff if you're liquid
Ye i am liquid and like I said thermal paste is fine
IHS?
Intels getting random spikes is a known thing. Huge drama about it last? year
but your loop should handle it
how short are those spikes then
if the loop is cold, it's not cooling, nothing else
Wait... 57C in BIOS? Something's not working for sure.
Best bet is the cooler isn't screwed in properly, so the CPU and cooler doesn't get a proper connection.
what AIO is it?
I've had the pump in NZXT and Corsair ones die like that, same symptoms
if the liquid is cool, touch the block to see if that's also cool. if it's warm it's likely the pump isn't running for whatever reason
They've all got the same pumps anyhow. Viva la patent.

Hello Wooters! My MX Master has finally left me and I'm in the market for a new mouse. I'm really into buying logitech g703 but I wanna hear your suggestions! What are you using your Wootings with?
Corsair Battleship *glaive
MX Master is still best mouse
From the last discussion on this we all ssid
G502
G403
Corsair Glaive
Razer Nagar (if you like being robbed)
Corsair mmo mouse
And some other company I forgot
@glad scroll @zenith mirage @digital cliff I summon thee
@fickle ore @gentle dragon also
We had a long discussion on mice
I use the Corsair mouse with a sniper button on the side.
Great for Siege, but it's not as robust as it looks!
It lowers your DPI whilst holding the button
Oh lmao
pretty sure anyway
pretty useful i'm sure
I have a roccat xtd, which feels good and has some nice software(But a pain to install), its also pretty expensive, so I wouldn't really recommend it.
By pain I mean their site for retrieving software is a huge mess, they have multiple downloads, which makes it extremly confusing, and there is no real "THIS IS THE SOFTWARE". So yeah, i'd try avoid getting roccat stuff in general.
