I do alittle bit of recording for youtube (mini-lectures) and gaming TS/discord. Was thinking of getting a steel series arctis 7 but I heard a lapel mic and a good set of headphones is a better choice. Any thoughts? what sort of setup do you run?

I wouldn't recommend the Arctics personally. That weird velcro headband solution doesn't work very well.

Your best bet for recording that sort of things is an entry level USB powered mic like the Snowball from Blue. Cheap and very popular.

For gaming and streaming, I'd go with something like Sennheiser's USB headphones.

My only complaint is the AKGs are bloody uncomfortable due to the headband design. They just slip down and press on your ears. I think there are some DIY fixes that can be done so i might sort that at some point

And personally I love the Arctis 7 for gaming and normal use. I'm on the PC all day and have yet to run the battery dead assuming you charge when you're off or asleep. The Man O War went dead fairly regularly for me. But as the others have mentioned I wouldn't use it for doing stuff like recording videos if you want them to be somewhat professional.

Sensor latency didn't even use to exist back in the days. It was only added as a byproduct when the DPI armsrace started. Sensor manufacturers implemented smoothing algorithm on tracking to combat the jitter caused by high DPI on sensors if you used them at the marketed crazy amounts, which nobody did anyways
