Oh gods...the bunker.

#

I remember that with so much dread.
First time I did a pickup. Very easy - no problems. Just a long trip from the free bunker up north all the way to the harbor?

Second one... jesus H christ.

#

I hopped into a van I had to pick up at the research facility...and instant max stars. My van almost blew up before I even managed to rev up the engine.

So poorly balanced - Did I get to the bunker alive? Yes... but only because the police gave up chasing me after some really intense hill trips.

there is a mission that I have to kill 20 people in a bank or soemthing

@frosty dew You'll try really hard to play this way...and give up two minutes later.

#

Whoever did the first person controls never actually played with it.

frosty dew
#

i mean... i know that, but it exists! GWvictoriaMeguFace

#

i mean honestly, i love playing first person.
especially when remembering the far cry series. but in gta v it was kind of... awful

#

so, so. so awful

young hill
#

Mansen I had to go to ship since of update to get supplies. I landed my Hydra in the hot tub, but crashed the Hydra on accident into a helicopter when leaving

fringe salmon
#

first person works just fine, a lot easier for scuba diving imo and some heists indoor especially

young hill
#

Wait scub diving is easier in first person.... Gotta try that

fringe salmon
#

much easier bc you just look in the direction you want to swim

#

especially helpfull in the heists where you go through the sewer system with scuba gear

young hill
#

Ah that one

#

especially when remembering the far cry series. but in gta v it was kind of... awful
You can also go in VR xD

dont think those blaster bolts even damage the at-at.

#

Today I commited a warcrime and shot an anti-grain missle at the raiders. It killed 14 men and 2 wounded. Took those wounded and used their organs to fix up my people. It might be a warcrime but our alcoholic has a new liver. and that is why this warcrime is moral and just. plus that was the 3th raid in a row and most of my guys were heavy wounded. The wonderous stories of the rimworld

#

also should I drug my prisoners with luciferium when I release them for that cripling permenant addiction that kills when withdrawl kicks in?

weak cypress
#

Can't you use them as forced laborers?

ornate cedar
#

Not really, but I could recruit them if I want but without a kidney, lung and liver they are very dead.

#

The other guy was executed cus I administered(forced) him to overdose on yayo(cocaine), Why? cus he had an yayo addiction and I wanted to give him an ironic death

That's hardly ironic, ironic would be OD on something else.

idk if vr really has entry lvl rn for such an experimental stage still

the quest was a fairly good value deal

my go-to options were ques/rift, index, pimax if you are fine with a non 1st party solution

ornate cedar

laughs in file permissions

#

you can do nothing

#

good bye sir

dense pond

also about file extensions, in linux you just use ELF to determine it

or the "file" command

proper cargo

i only got windows defender myself. seems to be enough cause i dont go to weird sites 😛

Or
In the file manager

windows has file exprorer as shell

fun fact: you can type cmd in the file location to open a cmd prompt in said location

fading spade
#

Indeed

#

Or just right click on many linux desktops

dense pond
#

also, [laughs in outdated, so called "vulnerable" software and operating system]

proper cargo
#

still, as long as this number doesnt increase, linux wont be taken seriously and they will have to sort out their own way to make stuff work. sure, as some vids point out, linux makes games run better. because of linux? sure. cause linux is almost an empty shell compared to all the bloatware that windows provides and got running in the background.

ornate cedar
#

or use alt+shift+f2 for a terminal

fading spade
#

Mage
Do you at least update your web browser?

dense pond
#

nope

fading spade
#

O.o

fading spade
#

Uh

ornate cedar
#

linux is just the kernel

dense pond
#

also a lot of stuff on linux could work out of the box

#

but then you forget that since everything is foss and everyone disagrees on everything

#

you get the mess that is linux

#

"LiNuX/gNu"

ornate cedar
#

so basic drivers, scheduler, memory manegement and not dieing

dense pond
#

"memory management"

#

OOM sucks on linux

#

otherwise, yeah, sounds bout right

fading spade
#

So you are running out dated web browsers

Noice...

ornate cedar
#

windows sucks even more when it comes to not dieoing

dense pond
#

Nah

#

Windows has never let me down on OOM conditions

#

It'll just kill apps

#

And won't freeze up

ornate cedar
#

Servers cant run for prolonged time without interference with windows

#

That is a key reason why linux is used

dense pond
#

You sure that ain't because of the server software and not the kernel?

ornate cedar
#

bluescreen

dense pond
#

Not trying to defend Windows here, but some "server" software really sucks sometimes.

#

Also bluescreen shouldn't happen in normal conditions

ornate cedar
#

but it should not murder the kernel if it happens

fading spade
#

If it's a server
How would it blue screen? Servers are in command line

dense pond
#

windows servers aren't command line

#

they're gui

fading spade
#

O

ornate cedar
#

hard faulting

#

same thin

dense pond
#

also linux ain't any better

#

if it panics, you're stuck

#

atleast windows has the audacity to reboot AFAIK, with linux you have to enable it in kernel config

ornate cedar
#

linux kernel tries to figure out on how to recover plus it allows to configure it to use backup kernels

dense pond
ornate cedar
#

windows servers are not known to lasts months

dense pond
#

I don't know what kernel/kernel config you are running

#

But that's entirely false

ornate cedar
#

they just fail

dense pond
#

also, drivers suck

#

for both operating systems

#

be it for any piece of hardware

#

drivers just suck.

#

@fading spade also to aggrevate you I was thinking of installing windows xp tbh

ornate cedar
#

and linux allows you to choose which one you want to use, windows can be stubborn and change if it wants to

dense pond
#

yesn't

fading spade
#

The OS people make malware for as a pass time?

#

I see

dense pond
#

If it's modules, yes, if built in, no

#

also people need to stop being afraid of running "old" software or whatever

#

it's just brainwashing

fading spade
#

Idk

ornate cedar
#

Bitrot is a thing

dense pond
#

I'm running w7 rn. Do I have pesty hackers on my OS rn? no.

fading spade
#

I'm pretty certain XP is still prone to many exploits that newer windows aren't

dense pond
#

Is it lagging and dying?

#

no.

fading spade
#

Hmm

dense pond
#

And yes bitrot is a thing

#

But so is bloat

#

Just look at Windows 10

#

I'll take bitrot over bloat any day

fading spade
#

Bitrot?

dense pond
#

AKA old outdated code no longer being used, which generally leads to issues

proper cargo
#

its more that older OS lose support, unless you know how to code and alter the OS or the program to make it run

fading spade
#

Ohh

#

Right

dense pond
#

Well yeah, but I mean kernelex is a thing

#

So that isn't a problem

ornate cedar
#

Downgrade the kernel for better support

fading spade
#

Wat

dense pond
#

Yes

#

tl;dr people got pissed that their pc came with windows

fading spade
#

Yeah...

dense pond
#

and they wanted the charge (can't recall the amount) that is added to all pcs provided with windows to be refunded

fading spade
#

I understand that computers that you go into a store and quickly buy need an OS installed so that you don't need to spend that extra hour to install one yourself

#

But like damn

#

Why must it be the one that costs $120

dense pond
#

i mean if you can't spend 30 minutes to install an os

#

that sounds like a you problem

#

ngl

fading spade
#

Windows takes longer

#

Takes almost an hour to install and update on my laptop

dense pond
#

shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes

#

and that's on a fairly old pc too

fading spade
#

I'm including updates

dense pond
#

updates take an hour

fading spade
#

That you do in the settings page

#

Yes

#

They do

dense pond
#

but once done you should be good

fading spade
#

Updates take longer than the install -.-

ornate cedar
#

Why not live update?

dense pond
#

that's a thing?

ornate cedar
#

in linux

dense pond
#

we are talking windows

#

but yes, it's a thing in linux

#

but "live update" is dependent on what you mean by it

ornate cedar
#

microsoft planned for it but it stayed at that

#

kernel can be updated while running it

#

it runs in the memory instead of disk

dense pond
#

Yes but it isn't a simple click to do so

#

At least last time I checked

#

Not to mention rebooting takes very little time

#

Even less time with kexec

ornate cedar
#

yay -Syu

dense pond

i am not using arch or a arch derivative.

fading spade
#

that's a thing?
@dense pond huh?

#

Wrong quote

ornate cedar

dense pond
#

that doesn't do live kernel updates

fading spade
#

Why not live update?
@ornate cedar what? You mean ubuntu's Livepatch?

that's just general updating programs and leaving currently running programs in memory

Nothing wrong with that. If anything, you're doing god's work.

Also can I just mention thank god steam's "depot" system exists? Saves you a lot of trouble having to go pirate or dig the internet for an older version of something.

proper cargo
#

a first i heard of it

dense pond
#

tl;dr

#

It would be nice if other services like uPlay and Origin provided this natively.

#

GOG provides this natively (As in a built in feature in GOG Galaxy), so good on them. You can also contact support to get an older version manually if you don't wish to use GOG Galaxy.

dense pond
#

Tfw the older version of the game actually runs better than the newer vulkan one.

#

Also interestingly enough, steam depots will follow your steam prefered language, even though being explicitly told not to do so.

dense pond
#

The more I think of it the more I'm happy to be banned tbh. Older version of the game is definitively a bit "off" from the regular feeling, but so much better. Also not to mention the stupid barage of updates the game has gotten over the years.

also different global law enforcement operators fighting each other makes no sense

dense pond

Well, yeah it doesn't but apparently if you follow the lore it's all simulation except terrorist hunt.

#

but let's be honest, the lore sucks.

slim token
#

you can tell the moment the lore went to shit when harry was introduced to replace six

dense pond
#

Mhm

tough jay
#

I never really played rainbow six siege after the first few updates. I could not get bothered memorizing map layouts.

#

I also noticed playing with a group of people that when someone else leads I tend to become a sheep and not learn the maps themselves. That certainly did not help.

proper cargo
#

you got banned from rainbow six siege?

#

@dense pond

#

why would you do such a thing tho

fringe salmon
#

we went over this, he used a vm

proper cargo
#

oh, that thing

#

oh right he was the linux guy

#

but

#

i thought that indian gamer guy big youtube peep said that you only get a warning at first

trim rock
#

Yes but if you then go on to bypass said warning you get in trouble

proper cargo
#

ah

fringe salmon
#

the warning is also not guaranteed to happen I think,

ornate cedar
#

The warning was the ban notice

#

xd

proper cargo
#

SO THEN i need to bring up the discussion again, why isnt rainbow six siege playable on linux without using a windows vm

#

cause windows is better, thats why

#

HA

#

IN UR FACE

#

obvious troll is obvious

fringe salmon
#

you say obvious when way too many people legit think that way

fading spade
#

^

proper cargo
#

yea, im seeing lord bloat type for longer than a minute so he might be typing something serous

ornate cedar
#

If linux can play it while running everything under vm while spoofing the anti-cheat enough to make it seem it is windows naitive

trim rock
#

Clearly not since the anticheat detected it and issued the ban

fading spade
#

you need to recompile Linux with things to prevent that

proper cargo
#

well, all you need to figure out is what makes rainbow's anti cheat tick and then counter it.

ornate cedar
#

battleye is shit anyways, it does fuck all against actual cheaters

trim rock
#

Well yeah it was rather easily defeated https://secret.club/2020/07/06/bottleye.html but I'm not sure if that still works

fading spade
#

battleye is shit anyways, it does fuck all against actual cheaters
@ornate cedar litewrally, my friend plays it and she always sees hackers in most games

ornate cedar
#

yup. Some tried to get banned it took months and a support ticket to ubisoft to get banned

fading spade
#

O.o

proper cargo
#

well

#

ubisoft

#

ubisoft is trying to be like ea games but they got only half the resources available

fringe salmon
#

you cant really judge it from that, even if you still see x% of cheaters, you dont know how many it still stops from cheating

proper cargo
#

true

#

maybe there are just that many cheaters

ornate cedar
#

He just asked every game to get reported and had oblious hacks. Speed, walls, infinite range, etc. still nothin

#

its insane that it didnt get triggered

fringe salmon
#

until we get some insane AI-abusing anti cheat we always will ahve situations like that, point of AC is to make it just a little bit harder to stop the majority that would cheat if it's too easy, and hopefully from time to time get big ban waves

proper cargo
#

also deosnt help that game keys for such games are very cheap to come by

fringe salmon
#

it's to make you not play with/against only hackers and nnot also real people

ornate cedar
#

instead of banning use a scale system that judges the likelyness of hacking and put people together with similair scores.

fringe salmon
#

nooooo

#

nonono

#

there already is not enough people to make truly good matchmaking

#

trust system in csgo only works somewhat because it's not a hard limitation and also has an insane ammount of players

ornate cedar
#

thats the point as the cheaters wont know when they get put in that bracket

novel umbra
#

?

#

as a regular and active player you get a higher trust factor than new ones

#

and a much higher one that suspicious ones

#

afaik those also get separated from the ones that have a low one due to being toxic

ornate cedar
#

If they dont know when they are marked they wont know when to abandon ship and get a new account.

novel umbra
#

yea

#

you still have a higher one

#

or do yo uwanan throw new players in low trust factor land?

#

multiple accoutns per ip also accounts to it btw

fringe salmon
#

you will know once you notice your matchmaking got much worse

ornate cedar
#

you can even give their new account automatic lower score

#

if they play nicely it will increase

#

if not they stay in the hell

novel umbra
#

no

#

they will quite if they start with low trust factor

#

because they play a "hacker infested game"

fringe salmon
#

and if you meant to track people who make a new account bc the old one is in low trust, that can easily hit innocent people too

ornate cedar
#

Then it is -1 cheater overall

novel umbra
#

well multi accounts will get lowered trust factor

#

although idk what the exact ratings of that are

fading spade
#

Anyone have any idea why nvidia drivers set systemwide vsync and make my games run locked to 60FPS

BUT if I open thje nvidia settings app and then just close it again, that FPS lock is disabled

novel umbra
#

basically

#

trust factor is a good system though

#

helped a lot

ornate cedar
#

vac wont ban without knowing >99.9% sure that it has detected a hacker

fringe salmon
#

yeah but trust factor only works with a really large playerbase and can still fuck over people who are just good

novel umbra
#

obv

#

but you don't get fucked over in a day

#

it takes a while for it to shift

fringe salmon
#

not really

fading spade
#

oh? but I open it as normal user

fringe salmon
#

ye that one sounds like linux issue idk what to look out for there

fading spade
ornate cedar
#

trust factor is quite slow to move

fading spade
#

I told you, it makes the FPS lock not happen anymore

ornate cedar
#

it doesnt do judgement immidiatly

fringe salmon
#

nah, I've had multiple cases where it took weeks to get rid of the red trustfactor a friend had when we 5man queued and always have recommnded him , a day or two later he was red again

ornate cedar
#

it doesnt tell the trustscore normally?

fringe salmon
#

not it doesnt tell the score but if you queue up it tells you "worse matchmaking bc player x has slightly/significantly lower trustfacotr"

ornate cedar
#

use xrandr for monitor ting

fringe salmon
#

and that is in either yellow or red

ornate cedar
#

That is relative to you

#

you can be a saint while your friend a hero and he still give a red message

fringe salmon
#

it is relative, hence why I always see it bc im the worst in the group and never get bad trust factor lmao

#

if two are red they dont see anything but I both see them red

#

thats not a UX thing bc its related to matchmaking not using the game

ornate cedar
#

It is red because it will lower the group trustfactor and could negatively affect the player

fringe salmon
#

so anyway, it is a mostly good system, bc it has enough players, but man you get fucked over if people are just mad and dislike you getting good shots in

ornate cedar
#

Toxic players that false report a lot dont carrt any weight to the score

fringe salmon
#

if that was the case we'd not constantly have to get people's trust back up to not red lmao

#

we have 3 people who play on a second or third smurf bc we just get against hackers with their mains bc of a bad trust rating

fading spade
#

smurf?

#

what

ornate cedar
#

2nd account

fading spade
#

o

ornate cedar
#

usually with lower ranking

#

cus high ranking is just toxic fest with the try hards

fading spade
#

o

ornate cedar
#

Or it could be to circumfent the cooldown

#

cus the molly went haywire and teammates were cold while watching you

dense pond
#

the warning wasn't a warning in the first place

#

it was a generic error before they changed it

#

RDTSC emulation also apparently doesn't solve the problem from what I heard, some people still got banned.

#

Also nothing in the TOS of R6S even states anything about vm's.

#

Battleye only recently started doing it about a month ago

#

And not to mention you have to remember that guy actually has a youtube channel and has a somewhat decent userbase I guess. I have none of that, aka, no say.

fading spade
#

why kick "normal users"?

dense pond
#

from my understanding

#

to prevent anyone using a vm from playing

#

but that they can play on a legitimate pc

#

bypassing the kick is a ban. no exceptions.

#

even if you used to play on a legitimate pc.

#

even if your account is from year 1

#

this is battleye's doing, not ubisoft's

fringe salmon
#

to keep it shorter: kick people in vm bc they cant make sure the vm isnt used to circumvent battleeye

dense pond
#

correct

#

because vm's can modify memory outside the os

#

and also because apparently "everyone who uses a vm is a cheater"

#

that's bollocks though

fringe salmon
#

says you

dense pond
#

guarantee you most users aren't gonna go through the process of installing a vm just to cheat

fringe salmon
#

most aren't, but it's also not many that use a vm to play normally

dense pond
#

but that's also a lie

#

theres plenty of people who game on vm's

#

and fleimi

#

let me restate again

#

it's battleye's doing

bleak pike
#

Technically speaking

dense pond
#

not rainbow's

bleak pike
#

It’s not their game

dense pond
#

rainbow's TOS literally states nothing

#

against vms

bleak pike
#

They own the anti cheat not the game it’s used on

dense pond
#

look for yourself

fringe salmon
#

doesnt have to be in the TOS if the tos say "keep to the rules of the anti cheat"

bleak pike
#

Also it’ll be under modified shit

dense pond
#

literally doesn't state anything of the like quintosh

bleak pike
#

No difference, I just want to be that guy

dense pond
#

yeah a game I paid for

#

To then be told without warning "fuck you"

bleak pike
#

Technically you didn’t pay for the game

#

You paid for access to it

dense pond
#

yes yes

#

access

bleak pike
#

DRM yay

fringe salmon
#

I bet its under dont cheat that words it, dont make the anit cheat ban you and thus includes it

dense pond
#

quintosh

#

pls

#

link me the exact paragraph

fringe salmon
#

of course the tos dont need to include what exactly the anti cheat bans you for

bleak pike
#

It’ll under modifying or something

fringe salmon
#

i aint reading it bc you're pulling at strings here that nobody will argue for

dense pond
#

then shut the fuck up please

#

honestly

novel umbra
wheat kraken
#

I'll argue that most anti-cheats are bullshit

novel umbra
#

how big was the linux playerbase on rocket league?

#

2%?

wheat kraken
#

Or at least in most cases are

dense pond
#

yama

#

holy shit

novel umbra
#

it will be a lot lower on R6s which never had native linux support

dense pond
#

you're talking about something completely different

novel umbra
#

so you have a total of how many players?

#

20?

#

that are on linux

#

that genuinely need a VM to play on their OS

dense pond
#

mate

#

i'm talking about vms

novel umbra
#

mate what

dense pond
#

not native linux

#

now get out

novel umbra
#

yea ik

fringe salmon
#

it was 0.3 percent and that included linux and mac for rokcet league

novel umbra
#

people don;t install a vm for rocket league when it runs native

#

so the numbers in r6s would be a lot lower

dense pond
#

you're wrong though

novel umbra
dense pond
#

some people did

bleak pike
#

Huh mage is right

#

It specifically only mentions don’t hack or modify the game client

novel umbra
#

so you have a total of how many people that tried to paly r6s on linux?

dense pond
#

no

#

i'm talking about this statement

#

people don;t install a vm for rocket league when it runs native

#

you're wrong on this

bleak pike
#

And it only mentions running the game on something for an unfair advantage

#

Soooo time to ban ultrawide/144hz users? lul

dense pond
#

i literally run linux capable games on windows mostly due to the fact i don't want to deal with shit that won't run right

#

also piracy

wheat kraken
#

You're implying either of those give an advantage

dense pond
#

they do though

bleak pike
#

144hz for sure does

wheat kraken
#

Well ultrawide dure

bleak pike
#

As for ultrawide idk how they tackle it

#

Ultrawide can be a serious advantage in some games

fringe salmon
#

just dont allow them to see more, done

dense pond
#

please leave

#

honestly

fringe salmon
#

that wasnt a joke

bleak pike
#

Tbf it says software

dense pond
#

you're a troll quintosh

bleak pike
#

He’s not he’s just ugh

dense pond
#

at least, in my book

trim rock
#

or, let players on narrower screens crank up the FOV more...

bleak pike
#

Very logical

fringe salmon
#

just make it so even on a bigger screen you dont get to see more than on 16:9 and done, no advantage gained

dense pond
#

i can't even

#

nope

#

i'm done

fringe salmon
#

games already do that

#

like idk why you think im trolling

dense pond
#

at the end of the day fuck battleye

fringe salmon
#

you can set all sorts of limits for cameras in your engine, so that you either need black bars or get a stretched image or smth like that if you dont limit the resolution to 16:9 or similar

novel umbra
#

you could also limit horizontal FOV

#

and then 16:9 users can just crank it up the same way

#

no gain there

fringe salmon
#

sure but then you still might have an advantage on ultrawide bc you can still see whats going on and not have insane fisheye lmao

fading spade
#

just make it so even on a bigger screen you dont get to see more than on 16:9 and done, no advantage gained
@fringe salmon then the image is stretched and horrible

novel umbra
#

btw

fringe salmon
#

@fringe salmon then the image is stretched and horrible
@fading spade yes thats the point

fading spade
#

how?

novel umbra
#

since you move the anticheat to a higher level than it should be

wheat kraken
#

That's stretching it like a motherfucker

novel umbra
#

not really

fringe salmon
#

@fringe salmon then the image is stretched and horrible
@fading spade hence you'll want to set it to 16:9 resolution to play it not stretched, and suddenly you dont get an advantage

novel umbra
#

you modify how it should run

wheat kraken
#

By using a VM, I'm not directly or even indirectly changing, editing, or corrupting game or server code.

Nor am I using a bot, cheating, nor 'hacking' their game

small comet
#

@wheat kraken ya but u can easily access and chabge shit in the entire vm ram

#

so

#

cheating is almost unprotectable on a vm

#

cause the host os has way more access

novel umbra
#

you modify it

wheat kraken
#

I mean I guess? I wouldn't know personally.

novel umbra
#

so that the anticheat is completely unrelaible

#

that is the whole reason why you are not allowed to have it run in a vm

small comet
#

they should just implement vm detection

wheat kraken
#

You don't modify anything. But I also do not play these types of games because I dislike either game practices or the way they play.

small comet
#

like some software does to prevent cracking

novel umbra
#

I mean

#

battleye has vm detection

#

it ain't that easy though

small comet
#

@wheat kraken most games with online functionallity dont allow vms

wheat kraken
#

I know GTA Online didn't do this but it also wasn't competitive gameplay

fringe salmon
#

they also run p2p and had exactl 0 anti cheat on start lmao

novel umbra
#

lol

wheat kraken
#

Yeah I know

fringe salmon
#

and now they do but it still feels like 0

small comet
#

wait they have anticheat now?

#

didnt even notice when probing around

fringe salmon
#

idk, I just know some people got banned, I have it uninstalled for a while now

novel umbra
#

I think they do some basic stuff

small comet
#

must be rockstar quality anticheat

novel umbra
#

to prevent people from just editing their money with CE

small comet
#

the only thing i know is it checks loaded dlls on start and doesnt load just any dll placed in the game folder

#

but u can still easily inject them so idk

#

its like they gave up halfway

novel umbra
#

lol

orchid prism
#

Hmm?

trim rock
#

Well that's one way of offloading that stock

orchid prism
#

Not a bad idea. Most PCs don't have optical drives anymore.

bleak pike
#

whats an optical drive? 👀

proper cargo
#

my old pc had a blueray player, tho, if im completely honestly, i think i only used it once in its existance.

fading spade
#

I wish my PC had one :/ my uncle makes me make so many CDs for him -.- and I have to dig out my old ass laptop

#

cause that has a cd drive

proper cargo
#

ur uncle needs to digitize

bleak pike
#

@fading spade Lol i used to do that myself and do it over the network

#

was annoying

fading spade
#

o

#

ssh into it???

bleak pike
#

no, mount it as a network drive

fading spade
#

wait, no then you cant use GUI

#

oohh

#

ur uncle needs to digitize
@proper cargo IKR -.-

#

he wants CD for his car

#

otherwise he uses his tablet

placid garden
#

damn

#

I got my parents to stop using CDs and just hook up to the car infotainment via bluetooth, so I don't have to worry about that now

#

although at home we have a huge stack of CDs though

fading spade
#

car infotainment
Thats a thing he doesnt have, neither do I

placid garden
#

yeah those aren't particularly cheap either

proper cargo
#

modern cars mostly got them nowadays. unless you go for the really basic package.

frosty dew
#

i havent seen any car manufactured past 2016 that came without such an infotainment system that has either way of connecting, be it usb, aux, or even bluetooth...
not even the basic ones

#

i mean, even my 2009 chevrolet aveo, in its most basic basic stuff had an aux connector

#

granted, my 2007 peugeot didnt have either. only a CD

#

but at least the peugeot had an automatic radio signal tracker, which not every car had or even has. (test drove a 2017 renault a week or two ago, and it lost my favorite radio signal SO MUCH. and that within the same little town...)

#

but it had bluetooth, usb, aux, etc.

#

what i noticed is that a lot of the cheaper cars may come with a super weak engine, but the stuff they got inside is what they got "selling" that car to their customers...

#

granted, we are the EU; and we all know that no car manufacturer sells the same models in all continents...

proper cargo
#

thats why i bought myself a 2015 mazda 2 last year. mazda's dont do that whole european crap of making engines smaller, they keep them the same size but make them more efficient.

frosty dew
#

my next car, a bmw, which the paperwork is being signed tomorrow or friday, also has usb and aux, also should have BT

#

do you know why they make the engines smaller?
cause taxes are going insanely high based on engine size and emission values.

#

my mom pays for her 2L SUV about 200 just in tax ( abit more than that, but you get the idea)

proper cargo
#

america?

frosty dew
#

if your car is from before 2000, you should be easily able to get an aftermarket head unit that has at least an aux connector

#

wdym with "america?"

proper cargo
#

you talking about america now? cause you mention SUV which isnt really a european thing

#

ok, then tell me if im wrong

frosty dew
#

suv? not a european thing???

#

laughs in german roads filled with SUV

#

just my direct coworkers? half of them got an SUV

#

i think you meant pick up trucks

#

those are a thing of rarity in the EU

proper cargo
#

uhh

frosty dew
#

mercedes even is ceasing the production of their pick up, cause no one's buying it

proper cargo
#

yea ur right i was thinking of pick ups, my bad

frosty dew
#

we all sometimes swap up things

#

i actually see a pickup truck every day

#

but that's because it's a company car

#

and it's pretty much the only pick up i see for months mostly

#

exactly

#

vans are SO MUCH BETTER

#

same

#

tell me a thing that a van cant do, but a pickup can :P

#

it's the other way around. a van can store much more, PLUS it's kept dry and covered.

#

uh, i think police would stop you due to the height then

#

in a city neraby they stopped a guy transporting a palm tree that stuck through his sunroof.

#

he had to get it into a van to keep driving.

proper cargo
#

i work at a shop that makes roof racks for cars or car bucks, not sure if translation is right there, but rear window protectors for pick ups, so i do see the occasional pick up, but those are mostly used by woodwards.

#

theres almost no other job that used pickups, atleast not in my country, because a minivan or a delivery van is much cheaper to drive and mostly even stores more.

frosty dew
#

exactly

#

same reason here

#

even our construction workers tend to drive a van

#

mostly cause you can install neat and tidy tool racks and drawers and everything into them

#

same goes with like electricians, waterpipe workers, all that

proper cargo
#

its cause gas is so cheap in america.

frosty dew
#

it's not that much cheaper actually

#

they just use a different measurement than Liter

#

(also taxes get added afterwards)

#

i think i calculated their prices to be roughly the same to ours

#

but that's been a while ago now tbh

proper cargo
#

1 gallon is ~3.8 liters. the average price in america is 2.18 per gallon. so 2.18 : 3.8 = ~57 cents per liter

#

i mean, its 3x that per liter in the netherlands

#

XD

frosty dew
#

diesel is around a € the liter atm

#

ordinary petrol is around 1.20 - 1.30

#

depending on octane count i'd say

proper cargo
#

so yea, my guess is that cause gas is so cheap, they can afford to buy cars that use alot of gas

frosty dew
#

i think another bigger factor is that they dont pay the same taxes as we do

#

oh btw fleimi it was you who needed to do the CD burning thing?
why not just get a 25€ external USB cd drive?

#

oh well

#

i was playing with that thought myself

#

mostly cause i got so much cd stuff still, be it games, music, movies

#

am excited for my bmw

#

tbh, i felt like bmw was overrated

#

then i test drove one, cause my car dealer had one on the lot.

#

... i think we know how that ended up.

placid garden
#

i'm satisfied with my little subaru that does it all for me

frosty dew
#

but there actually is this these that two kinds of drivers especially are attracted to like "premium" brands, like bmw, audi, etc, etc

ones that are the biggest assholes personality wise, and those that are extremily accurate, responsible, etc.

#

tbh i know what you mean, but i'm not buying my car as new GWvictoriaMeguFace
it's a used one

placid garden
#

probably they get it because of the name

#

it's a status symbol

frosty dew
#

it partly is

#

but tbh, so far i liked the inside of the bmw the most of the cars. and it felt really nice while driving, so quiet and comfortable

#

definitly not what i had before so far

#

i'm an asshole no matter the car GWowoSmug

#

yeah, they do

#

cookiecutter?

#

explain expression pls

placid garden
#

copy and paste

#

same old

frosty dew
#

so you probably mean like the 3 series

#

their "middle" section?

#

the one especially around here is driven alot by... people with immigratory background

#

one sec.

#

3series from 2013

placid garden
#

yeah they certainly stand out from the rest

frosty dew
#

one thing i envy audi drivers for?
they all seem to have this extra sun visor behind their rear view mirror.

#

even my friends 2000's audi

#

and that one is ... something

proper cargo
#

well, whatever the car you drive, dont drive a volkswagen

frosty dew
#

what's wrong with volkswagen?

proper cargo
#

well

#

i can say whats wrong about volkswagen

frosty dew
#

one thing german cars confuse me with?
the light. why is it this extra turn dial under the dashboard?

#

then why dont you do it?

proper cargo
#

volkswagen is a car used alot by people who...are less thoughtful of other people in traffic

#

cause bmw or audi cars arnt as cheap as volkswagens

frosty dew
#

i think it really depends on location a lot

#

because here it's actually mostly mercedes, and a certain model of bmw

#

but also volvo

#

fuck anyone in a volvo around here tbh.

proper cargo
#

volkswagen, especially the golf, is a sportive car for a reasonable price

frosty dew
#

the golf is too expensive for us lately

#

it used to be a beginners car

#

but it's been pushed up to more and more, and is so much bigger

#

have you seen the new ford fiestas?
i remember it as this little piece of rust bucket, that barely fit 3 people in it

#

now? it's getting close to looking like a small SUV tbh

proper cargo
#

alot of cars are

frosty dew
#

i know

proper cargo
#

even the mini's

#

arnt mini any more

frosty dew
#

"mini"

#

i dont have anything against ford fiestas, lol. sorry fleimi

#

(my mom used to have a red one)

#

she once accidentally drove it down a set of stairs

#

it drove away without any damage to it

#

huh

#

i think my friend drove a newer fiesta

#

deer ran infront of him, causing a total

#

deer ran away from the accident scene btw.

#

never to be found

#

yeah i know. right?

#

fled the scene of accident!

#

and lousy police didnt even find that criminal again

#

:P

#

XD

#

that friend isnt the luckiest

#

his first car was a opel corsa

#

he flipped it because he was going 100 on a road in rain where i wouldnt even go 80 when it's dry, due to its narrow and curvy nature...

#

then the fiesta was his second

#

i think now he's at an astra?

#

another friend had it worse.
first car was a VW Fox.
not even 1h after he started driving it his axle broke in half.

#

then he got a brand new, factory VW Fox.
serial issue with the valves. causing oil problems, engine failure, less than a week he had that car.

#

of course, they were fed up with it

#

so they went and got a Toyota.

#

Aygo.

#

i hate that thing.

#

i despise it.

#

but i admit, i'm good at parking it.

#

because he always made me park it, he couldnt be bothered GWvictoriaMeguFace

#

but i really hate it.

#

it doesnt even have a proper cover for the door. it's the blank metal!

#

fair enough

#

i drive too much for the fun of it i guess

#

my very first year of driving i overshot my insurance covered distance by almost double...

#

with the bmw now my yearly distance is set at 24,000km

#

mostly because the only next higher section of cost, etc, would be at about 30,000km a year

#

i kinda like driving

#

sorry

#

well tbf, i also havent spent more than 15,000 on a car yet

#

actually, i havent spent more than 6,000 on a car yet

#

... i dont even think you can get a car for that cheap here.

#

at least not one that doesnt need fixing

#

or breaks down after a couple of km

#

currently looking

#

not looking that good

#

so far i have not seen one that doesnt have this or that issue

#

and so far none has a guarantee to get through the general inspection required by law to even register it

#

in fact, pretty much they all have these inspections required in the second half of this year now, so i assume most are too scared they wont get another pass this year...

#

also not exactly a lot of power any of them... like 50hp? in this area?

#

you're going across the mountains in second gear or something, raising the gas usage ALOT

#

i think i'm looking at other criterias than actual price

#

granted, rn? I'm just looking for a car that i can drive. meaning i can register.

#

and i can only register if it doesnt have any obvious flaws to it

#

which rust btw is also a point at certain parts of the car.

#

if a certain part is rusted it wont pass the safety inpsection.

#

good luck with tüv

#

my moms old bmw's exhaust system slowly rusted away

#

so initially the idea was to just fix it by welding the necessary parts over

#

eventually TÜV (responsible for our mandatory inspection) just said "you are better off scrapping it"

#

tbf, my friend got his shitty corsa for like 1000 or 1500, and if he wasnt the biggest idiot known to wet roads he'd still be driving it i'm pretty sure

#

i'm sure you can get a car for super cheap that drives a year or maybe two

#

but then you're also not exactly looking at driving far distances right?

#

how much do you drive, let's say, a week?

#

total or each way`?

#

yeah okay. i drive a bit more than 100km a day

#

just to and from work

frosty dew
#

it sucks

#

ngl

#

especially rush hour

#

but tbf, it is not just me that does this long commute around here

#

mostly cause we live in nowhere between some trees

#

and trees generally dont make the best employer

dense pond
#

Why is lan ping so high?

trim rock
#

Utter garbage cabling & hardware / wifi / not actually LAN

dense pond
#

Odd

#

The other person I am playing LAN with gets generally 10 on a source game.

proper cargo
#

so ive been playing this new game called aven colony. it reminds me somewhat of a space based ANNO, but with a little less management.

#

well, space based, its on another planet n stuff

orchid prism
#

"new" 😄

#

Aven Colony isn't terrible, but I remember getting bored fast.

proper cargo
#

yea, im now at the second mission and

#

same buildings. same everything basically

#

the problem with such games is that they give you a campaign, but everything is unlocked right from the get go. thats why i like dawn of man over banished. they are both great games, but in banished you can do everything from the get go, while in dawn of man you need to evolve through history.

#

and its fun, for 1 time. but now i need to do like 8 times the exact same thing. built up the exact same colony and manage it the exact same time.

#

its still a fun game, but ur right, it bores fast.

#

its a little sad that alot of indi devs are coming up with great base building games but are hampered by finances, that they need to bring out their games early access and accrue funds early, while basically selling you only an unknown. and their idea's are great. but the problem is that more than once devs showed when finally releasing the final product that "tadaa. we hardly fixed the bugs, and ur left to your own devices", is happening a little too much.

#

ofcourse there are exeptions to the rule. Amplitude, who made the endless games obviously ended up perfectly, where even SEGA was willing to lay down money for them.

verbal basin

Anyone able to play fs2020 with wooting 2?

dense pond

I guess I should ask, anyone know of a game similar to R6S that doesn't ban it's players for stupid reasons, doesn't have bullshit drm/anticheat and that doesn't have stupid developers? Linux isn't a requirement.

you could look into RoN if you have the patience for the full release

My search skills failed me. Can you state the full name instead of the short one please?

Ready or Not

dense pond
#

I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. As it currently stands though, the game doesn't quite fit what I am looking for. Thank you however.

There is no game like rainbow man

#

Just accept it

slim token
#

there is also due process

#

public beta begins tomorrow

dense pond
#

Due process definitively seems interesting. I'll try the beta if I can.

#

And yeah, I kinda expected the fact that there is no replacement for R6S. It was worth asking though, just in case, since even if I am banned and playing via VLAN/LAN and other stuff of the like, it still has a big place in my heart.

found another called intruder

dense pond
#

Wait you have a list or something?

slim token
#

no just looking

#

leaving siege also pained me

dense pond
#

Ah

#

I feel ya

slim token
#

so i constantly look for similar titles

dense pond
#

Intruder also looks interesting. Thank you again. If you see anything else, please do inform me.

dense pond
#

Also, if you don't mind me asking, why did you leave siege?

slim token
#

everything after white noise

#

and issues before white noise that had not been solved for another 1.5 years

dense pond
#

Thank you for telling me. It helps to get rid of some of the pain.

frosty dew
#

i left r6s after half a year after release.
mostly cause i was so terrible and got shot from corners like madnes. plus my computer was bad and everything felt as if it was swimming.

#

and when i went back a while later and found that my extra pass, unlike other games only lasted for a year, worth of a handful operators, and every new operator would cost me more than 5 times what i needed for the default operators, and didnt want to drop another full game price on yet another temporary pass? yeah i never looked back

#

i installed it again a week ago, maybe i'll try it again with my new system in a bit. but i dont exactly see myself playing as much as i used to play csgo

lime smelt
#

Do u want to know my siege hours?

#

1,853

#

853 half of those hours I no longer found it fun

#

but kept playing because it was addictive

#

I tried to get myself banned for months

#

but it didn't work despite being reported hundreds of times

#

world of tanks XD

#

played it well over 2000 hours. atleast 500 of em i can honestly say i didnt had joy in playing it. but there was something about being in a clan and playing with other people. before i became a pessimist and just said fuck it all and suddenly dropped the game. it was a liberation, really.

#

i still keep in touch with some of em, but no way near as much as when i played the game ofcourse.

#

that game turned me toxic

Stopped playing when they removed cross team chat

Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. I got it for some promotion in another game for free premium currency and stayed for the Guild I ended up joining. I don't know how much time I clocked in it, but when the guild eventually disbanded, I deleted the game and it felt good to not have to deal with it anymore.

fallow bronze
#

man i suck at totalwar

orchid prism
#

Same.

With me it's mainly a lack of understanding battlefield tactics, and how every Total War game is designed to fuck you over the minute you become a certain size (I remember this with dread in Shogun 2)

fallow bronze
#

restarted 3 times already :p

proper cargo
#

well, 3 kingdoms is easy to understand

#

keep the enemy infantry busy with your infantry, then run horses in their arses

#

thats like, the main strategy in all battles XD

#

its really a problem that theres no smart AI. you would think that after 20 battles he would learn to also respond to my horses but he hardly seems to do this, other than moving a spear unit towards them. infantry. trying to intercept horses. ofcourse that speed difference aint gonna work XD

#

in most previous titles, archers were the main thing to deal damage with. so just stretch ur infantry out, and flank the enemy with archers and you win alot of times. in shogun as well, i favored using the matchlock units over archers simply cause the direct fire was way more devastating

#

i honestly found it a little bit weird why cavalry wasnt as strong in total war rome 2. they were more a harasser unit, while in 3 kingdoms, one of their charges is enough to almost obliterate a single unit.

#

so not all total war games can be played the same. i mean, in warhammer in particular, since different factions have a whole range of different units

#

but most total war factions have about the same units

lime smelt

I had almost 3000 hours in rust before i deleted it

proper cargo
#

after 1 hour i gave up in rust. it was back when zombies were in the game, but back then i already knew how toxic that game was. horrible.

#

watching vids of rust only confirmed me suspicions.

done 4 maps. 4 maps of about the same bases made and no real progression. it has a nice story, that is overshadowed by the fact that you are tasked with the same tasks each and every time. building the same buildings each and every time.

#

its not a bad game really. but repetitive.

warm sapphire
#

SUPERHOT:MCD plays absolutely amazing with analog keyboard input. Probably the only game where it actually makes a difference (unless you count that dirty trick with walk speed in CS).

ornate cedar
#

my strat with total war is to first focus on trade and income and quickly take as much rebel cities as possible. With the battle itself my standard strat is to get the high ground and to first have missile and infantry behind for clear shot at the enemy. Calvalry mostly stays back and try to get in a good position the lance down the enemies missles (archers and siege equipment). When the enemy comes close the infantry charges with the archers focussing on the enemies archers. The faster they lose troops the quicker they lose morale. Also dont let the archers shoot at enemy infantry that is engaging with your infantry/cavalry, friendly fire is a bich

proper cargo
#

i know, i always make sure they flank the enemy. but i use my cavalry more aggressively, because if you let the enemy AI know your cavalry is on their flanks, they will always have to take it into considering. and 1 tricky thing i do is i use a forest area, so i got standard 4 cavalry units in each army, i run them to the flanks, and then i hide 1 in a forest while the other 3 keeps distracting. somehow they programmed the AI to behave purposely dumb here and they completely ignore the fact that 1 cavalry became invisible.

ornate cedar
#

Let them divert some troops for the calvalry. The cavalry can outrun the infantry and archers and seperating and thinning the frontline is very effective if possible. Concentrated attacks are more effective than splitting them. The mathmatics are much better when concentrating your frontline.

fringe salmon
#

have you tried using voice chat

proper cargo
#

i think he is talking about all the different languages

#

and since such a game isnt that big, you are more likely ending up on servers with other nation people

#

did you know that 60% of people on world of tanks europe dont speak english?

fringe salmon
#

I've not really had an issue with that yet, almost always when I use ingame voice at least 4/5 also speak english or at least understand enough of it in regards to game calls

trim rock
#

It really depends on the game, some games attract way more people who are unwilling to learn English than others... wonder why
