#Do you guys think I'm better off starting a fresh Ironman or continuing on with my green helm GIM?

I know this is a highly subjective post and in the end only I truly know the right answer here but I wanted to get some feedback.

I started a two man GIM team when it first launched. A year later we went green helm to join up with two of my buddies who didn't want to do GIM initially. I figured that a four man group would be way more fun and ofc everyone promised to play consistently.

Well down the line, one quit almost two months in. He did recently start up again and is making progress albeit very slowly but won't get to any late mid game or endgame PvE for a long while still.

The second played for a while but tapered off and only logged into leagues for the last two years. He's at 1634 total level. Not a bad account but has been off for a while and has said he has no idea when he'll come back.

The third is the dude I started the duo with and besides some few weeks breaks here and there plays just about everyday or every other day but the caveat of that is it's only at work and only afk activities. He's too busy doing Irl stuff to do anything not afk and it's been like that for a year. He did say by fall his time should open up and he's up for trying GWD, royal titans, ToA etc.... he's got 6 99s and five pets at this point. But also he could get busy again in the future and disappear for another year (possibly but he could just become super active, idk)

Then there's me, 5 99s at this point, multiple other stats nearly there, full CG grind done including the pet. About 2060 total level. Best account I've ever had by far but at this point I feel like I'm playing an account that gets no credit or respect, only shit on for being a green helm who probably bought everything he has because "lol green helm fake iron, you're just a main"

I could make a new iron and start over but I know that's a super long grind that albeit has a lot of super fun stuff to do and also has a lot of unfun grinds. But then at least I'd have an account that has more creditability.

If I were you, I’d turn the green helm into a main alt and start a new regular ironman. So much of the early game has changed, a lot of new content, it will feel brand new compared to when you started your gim.

And have that crisp grey helm the plebs will respect.

Its up to you, i was blue gim to very late, then my group started going inactive after we reached some kc in raids, then they started to play less and less, and decides to leave to join other active gim player, eeh was still hard to plan everything. What i can say is "the grass is greener on the other side".

Stopped playing one and a half year ago, started a new solo Ironman to replay early game and follow brushsailer guide. Very grindy and alot of dopamine, kinda boring tho, but still enjoy it (but i enjoyed early game more then late game on my gim). I would only recommend starting new account if you like early game more then late game

i’m sorry that the shit things people say to green helms is a thing, i think it’s really unfair and often very mean spirited. it does sound like you feel pretty frustrated with the current state of things though but not super interested in a new account, and it sounds plausible that your gim buddy will actually catch up - i think i’d be tempted to stick with things for now, honestly? and find ppl to raid etc with outside the gim?

If it means anything, people that shit on ugims have shit accounts and/or are shit at the game. Just looking for someone they deem less than them. I only see them as pathetic tbh. Truly no ill will or hate

Doesn't help the perception when this discord also locks gims from getting roles here. Outside of the ones any account can get.

At the end of the day it's a game that's supposed to be enjoyable.
Having recognition is a big part of the game - which is why Ironman, gm helm/blood torva are a thing.

I'd say look at the early game grinds/routes and decide if you would enjoy putting 100s of hours into that, and if the grey helm status is worth it to you. Alternatively make a UIM for a whole other experience 😂

I have a blue helm and basically play it as a regular iron with one group mate who sounds like the third dude in your post.

TL:DR play the content you will enjoy most, status means nothing other than what you make it

I have experience with this I guess.

I was at the start of midgame on my iron when 4 friends asked me to make a gim with them. Eventually I stopped playing the iron. The social aspect of gim is fun as hell but every time I achieved something there was always something nagging in the back of my mind like 'damn this would feel much better on my iron'. Eventually I bit the bullet and de-ironed the gim to a main and went back to my iron. Imo normal ironman is way more fulfilling and I enjoy it a lot more.

If you feel like that now, it might be best to bite the bullet and make a normal iron and experience early game.

Damn lots of good feedback. thank you all. I will say, yes I do like playing with my group as one of the 4 is my best friend irl but I won't lie and say I haven't been frustrated with the lack of group activity and the amount of shit I get from people in-game.

And what Yoda said is also true to me, having recognition is a big part, the pets, the stats, the gear your wear and being a green helm people just shit over anything I have because "lol you bought it, gz fake main acc" and it's dumb. But I do overthink what random plebs think and I shouldn't.

All in all, way too over frustrated with things I shouldn't be

A new account does sound fun but also makes me sad about all the hours I already put into my green helm. Early and mid game are also super fun but also such a super heavy time investment. Man I love and hate osrs so much 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Think about all the hcim that put time into an acc then die and wanna restart over again. All those hours ‘wasted’(for me it’s about the journey). Now think about having to start a new acc/grey helm. You will never lose that time. I wouldn’t even recommend doing a duo gim tbh. Just make a forever iron and do raids/nex/titans/YAMA and more with other buddies. In fact most of the team and solo activities are better as an iron imo

Good advice, thanks y'all. Not gonna sit here and defend myself and say "oh no it's not me that's wrong it's the community!". Nah it's 100 percent me taking things too personally after years of ignoring it lol. I'm working on it! I mean that its somewhat common for a player to make a hcim and claim 'they do not really care about the status, they just want to see how long it lasts' and then fast forward two weeks and they're doing shit hcim-only methods like water striking blue dragons for training prayer

what's more, with that attitude there's no goal anyway. Mid level hcim has tough decisions to make, but you cant just cheerfully keep playing

I had a gim with about 1800 total level and my group members stopped playing so I basically became a reg iron. Problem is the same you’re facing— I was playing as a solo iron but had the blue helm so people assumed all my drops were unearned and from teammates and such. I very much disliked that perception and created a reg Ironman. Unfortunately you won’t be able to escape that if you stay blue. You have to decide if you actually care what other people think or not. I’m not afraid to admit that in this case I did care enough to make a new account. I don’t regret it either. It feels like EVERYTHING on my account has been earned by me now. Not 95% or whatever it was on the gim.

I do want to point out it hasn't been a ton and I've had this GIM for five years but I've had about four or five death threats over the last two-ish years of my green helm. A few were at shooting stars when I wanted to get stardust, where I just said "gzzz" when I saw someone lvl up and one time a dude added me and proceeded to tell me in multiple ways of how to end my life as that's a better option then playing a fake main account. Another he said in public chat telling me things I think discord would ban me for if I type it out. I asked the second dude why he was so angry at green helms and he also alluded to the "better to be dead then play osrs as a fake main lmao" mindset the first dude had

Another was at karambwans where I was there with my duo buddy fishing and he got 99 and I did a flash2 congrats@@@@ and another dude there started calling us slurs and how better off we'd be if we just helped each other pull the trigger and end our miserable lives. A few things after that were nastier but I'm not testing discords TOS lol. There were 2 more instances around the game similar things happened but you get the gist

So that, on top of getting harassed almost half the time I speak in public (again maybe I should've just turned Public off and stopped talking but I love osrs and the community so I like to engage and tell people gz etc...). In terms of gear comparison. A hc with the same gear as an iron is something to look at. For me an iron is just as impressive but hc is a different kind of impressive

Well you guys definitely helped. I think I'll keep my GIM around for now, maybe afking at times and doing some content with my 2nd of 4 group mates when he gets some free time and just focus more of my playtime on my low lvl HCIM. Just enjoy the journey all over again 🙂
