I took a big break from osrs and started playing again, now I have no idea what would be the best way to increase my magic to get the arceuus farming spell. Would high alching be the best option? and if yes, where should I get my alchables from?

and basically anything that breaks even, gold bars, rune bolts from sep etc

Not meta/efficient probably but I dumped chaos runes with the bone staff at Scurrius.. its around 85k to 90k magic xp/hr and you at the very least break even from alchs (though it feels like you're profiting)
If you want to sweat you can bring alchs to increase rates but I'd save alchs for agility

I wouldnt think about saving alchs, you can get infinite alchs pretty easily
