I am trying to find clarification on whether or not a regular ironman (original gray ironman) can join a pre-existing GIM group. I made a GIM with a buddy and I wanted to bring in another person who is already a semi-leveled regular, non group ironman. I see posts online about group ironmen joining group ironmen, but I wanted to clarify if a regular ironman can join a GIM regardless of the forfeiture of the blue GIM icon (do not care about ranked hiscores, just want to play the content). Is this possible or would the person who wants to join be forced to make a fresh GIM and then invite them to the group?

When we started our GIM, one of our friends was around 1k total regular ironman. He was able to "degrade" hes account to green GIM. You can't have blue GIM when someone is joining in with a premade account.

Ok awesome. Do I have to wait 7 days to turn into a group ironman? Also does the GIM leader have to degrade to a green gim or is it automatic when the regular ironman gets invited?

So if I have a blue GIM group right now, how do I make it a green one? I talked to the GIM tutor at The Node and it says I cant make any changes to the group since im not new to the island.
Also is there any way to skip the 7 day period for degrading an ironman?

I believe you’ll get the green helm warning if you try to invite a green helm to your group as the leader and then if you do it anyway it will automatically change your status
There should be a way to change it yourself as well but the wiki has really bad documentation of how gim management works in my experience
And there’s no way to skip any 7 day wait periods in this game for account setting changes since they’re an anti-hacker measure
