#New Optimal GOTR Points Strat?

Have been looking into GotR to make sure I'm doing it as efficiently as possible - had watched BRUH's video of a good run and was more or less copying that to good effect when I came across this recent video: https://youtu.be/kH3xUxW1wN0?si=7gHJoszv9ATzKkqh

He does a few things very differently but seems to be getting better results:
-dedicating entire runs to catalytic or elemental. the benefit of this seems to be that you can save inventory space by not bringing a stack of elemental runes to make combo runes on your catalytic runs. also that's it's slightly more braindead but that hardly seems to matter much.
-ignoring cells. I'm less sold on this- saves inventory space and time, and plays into the overall strategy of going for a particular type (elemental/catalytic) rather than the highest tier of altar available since you don't have to care about overcharged cells, but I wonder if a hybrid strat incorporating them might be better.
-ignoring the first two rotations and mining at the large essence until the first portal. sets him up on essence all game and seems simpler, plus the longer afk is nice.

thoughts on this? just some stuff I've been mulling over ^^

This is my first tutorial guide for OSRS - hope this helps you in your grind to 99! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for other video tutorials. Thanks!

this looks so bad, all the classic traps to lure people in

#

my method also gets max points with the colossal pouch, the problem is that gotr is bad once you have that pouch

#

also he's going for elemental which is +30% points, unsurprisingly thats higher points for one game

#

I think this is just straight up worse

The last 2 things are due to huge mass games in public worlds where you have 3 portals. Mining extra because the games last forever. No cells because when all the barriers are full hp you don't get xp from depositing.

If you want efficiency you either

  1. Do small teams where games end consistently and you always have barriers to heal
  2. Leech and multiskill on mass worlds

you can do better than this vid on mass worlds

unfortunately small teams are really hard to find without colossal pouch, atleast in that discord

im not a fan of small teams gotr but a lot of people like it

I tried for multiple days on that grind and never found anyone willing to take me, so I just did dolo in the end

#

but yeah you can get better results in masses even on 3 portals by using cells

#

doing cell runs will also stretch your shards farther

I agree cells are optimal if you beat the competition to using them. Trying to explain why the person in the video wasn't doing them.

makes sense

#

I could even make guardians pretty often in masses though

dapper canyon

theyre even good if you arent first

#

unless that was changed?

Good for points, not good for xp

unless you are in a troll world where someone is making 10 weak guardians each game, then I'd recommend hopping
