He's spot on. What decides whether a club is "elite" or not. If this Super League happened a few years later then I doubt Arsenal and Spurs would've been included in it. Teams like Leicester and Sevilla would've had a much higher chance. So what God given right to these 12 clubs have to decide that "yes, we will forever remain the elite. The best of the best."
West Ham playing in the CL does not make them elite, but it does show that they're playing in that tournament because of their own merit of finishing in the top 4
One season in the CL can be a great point of change for a lot of smaller clubs. Leicester played one season in the CL, made it to the QFs and now regularly compete for the top 4. That's how much that revenue and smart management helped them

basically, there's this tournament called a UCL (UEFA Champions League) It's a tournament held every year between the best teams in Europe. But in order to qualify to the UCL, you need to atleast do very well in your own domestic league. So the best performing teams in the season prior will qualify to the UCL, meaning some of the popular premier league teams will miss out and lose revenue due to a limit of teams. The UCL was a good competition as it was a merit based system.
The problem lies with revenue and money. Since Covid, lots of clubs were losing money due to no ticket sales and being in huge debt. UEFA themselves who run the UCL are kinda greedy, the revenue they give to clubs for playing in the UCL isn't enough for the BIG dogs, that want to bring in more money for themselves. Also btw not every team in the UCL is elite btw, about 8-10 of the 32 are much smaller clubs with smaller fanbases meaning there's only about 20-24 ELITE teams and the remaining ones are decent at best.
What the Super League is, it's basically a break away league which will replace the UCL. It'll only have the BIG TEAM and BIG PLAYERS, so it's basically the elite of the elite. And they wanna make a new format with this new super league which will bring in more revenue and more big box entertainment.
