My take: I've always been a huge KP fan. Generational talent. But he's surrounded himself with bad people (his brother is his agent, and not a good one). He also was taken under the wing of Carmelo Anthony, and KP adopted some very poor shot selection as a result (shoot first mentality). I always felt that the Knicks weren't doing their best to nurture KP into his full potential, and him getting injured that severely just hurts it even more.
In terms of his whole dissatisfaction with the losing: The Knicks franchise has been trying to skip the rebuild process and go straight into free agent hunting for the past two decades, and it has failed disastrously. When the Knicks finally start to properly rebuild by gathering picks and assets, now their lone star talent in KP gets dissatisfied and wants to leave. Rough. Can't blame a good player for wanting to leave, but he's not really using much foresight in the situation. He's currently injured with an ACL tear and his future ability is hard to gauge, his value is at its lowest and he has little leverage. Yet the Knicks front office somehow took the bait and decided to trade him without testing the waters much and as a result, we got very little in return. Ugh.
Knicks essentially said "Fuck it" to a legitimate rebuild, and are back to square one: Trying to swing big in Free Agency.
