tbh I don't disagree, I don't mind defenders trying to play from the back but in that situation he was under pressure with his body facing towards goal. Should just be booting the ball away or kicking it out of play I guess.

though I guess if he did get it to his teammate then it could likely proceed to a counter play, sometimes a risky play can reward you.

I like defenders playing out from the back, it’s obviously the best way to get the ball out. But I’ve noticed players right now will put everything on the line to play out from the back. It’s like they’re afraid to clear the ball
