TLOK S1 ||Looking back now, I keep finding more and more holes in Amon's story. 😐 For one thing, most spirits don't like humans, so why in the Hell would they grant a human the power to energybend? Plus, only Lion-Turtles can do that!||
TLOK S1-4 ||Amon never wanted equality. He was a fraud who used the non-benders' plight at the hands of benders to rule Republic City by force. At the end of the day, Amon and Tarrlok were no better than their father.
Plus, Unaloq never cared about peace between humans and spirits. All he wanted was power.
Zaheer was a terrorist disillusioned by his twisted anarchist ideals.
And Kuvira? Well, she's self-explanatory. 😐 ||

TLOK S3-4 || I think zaheer is a good antagonist. Kuvira not so much. But after rewatching TLOK again, I have more appreciation for s4, sorta. Usually when something like what happens, when the earth queen was killed, it left a power vacuum that led to the rise of an authoritarian figure. In this case it was Kuvira using the military. It’s a nice touch that calls back on the previous season that worked out well imo ||
TLOK S2 || this season, for all intents and purposes, sucks. If it was just kept as Water Tribe: Civil War it would’ve been better than what happened with the spirits. The whole Vaatu/Raava bs also kinda fucks up the nuance of the avatar in my opinion, and also the part where Raava gets ripped out also makes 0 sense ||

TLOK S2 || due to the whole Raava/Vaatu bs it basically makes the avatar only a person of light and peace/order. It’s not balanced. For some reasons the writers decided that light and peace/order = balance. It’s not and I find that stupid. Too much order can be bad as well, and that’s where Vaatu the spirit of chaos can some in and sort of bring “balance.” Would’ve been cool to see an avatar bring balance by basically disrupting things but whatever I guess it’s now just a glorified peacekeeper ||

TLOK s3-s4 ||I feel like books 1-3 were as close to atla as we're gonna get in terms of "Aang's arc" for Korra. But book 4 was where the story deviated heavily, because it was kind of the epilogue that comes after the Avatar's epic journeys. It was like uncharted 4 in a way. The timeskip showed Korra in what I'd like to think of as "avatar retirement" with PTSD and all that. She was called back for one last go of it and found her strength as the avatar again. That's why one of my favorite moments in ALL of avatar is when Korra and Zaheer were talking while he was in prison and he told her she's more powerful than she could even imagine. Because it's true, she is one of the greatest forces of nature in the series. TLOK is flawed, but seasons 3 and 4 had mature storytelling and did a great job for what is at the end of the day a series made primarily for kids. People should cut it some slack, because yeah. It's not ATLA, It's Korra. I see it as separate thing from Aang's story. A sequel, but not so connected to Aang's story that is a continuation of his tale. So of course she's gonna think she's the shit. After Wan's story though, I really started to love Korra herself. Because that's when I think she truly became the avatar. The action was fucking stupid, but Korra herself was great||TLOK book 2
||Books 3 was Korra at her most... Not ideal, but smartest for sure. And book 4, both her abilities and ideals lined up and that's why she was so strong at the end of the series imho|| TLOK S3-S4

||It's also a show kids watch too, so keep in mind. Some of that stuff like systemic oppression isn't easily explainable to everyone. I do agree though, I like that they went deeper with the themes, but they didn't go all the way with it. That's one problem I had with the series. It always wrapped seasons of Korra up in a way that felt like "oh we presented these ideals. But let's wrap it up with a lot of action!" Book 3 was the only one that had an effective ending when they tried to do that because it lined up so well and followed right into Korra's ptsd|| TLOK
