It’s very episodical
So not like you always need to pay attention - if time is a big deal for you
It's not really I'm more of just worried about if it'll keep me interested
Is the comedy the same in the show as it was in Benders Game?
Cause I really liked the comedy of Benders Game
Probably . I don’t know what benders game is
Ok- yes - it should be somewhat the same
It's a movie for Futurama. Bender gets super into DnD and ends up creating a Fantasy world. Basically an excuse to make fun of LoTR and DnD
I liked it as I love DnD and found it funny
Yes. The comedy in futurama is consistently good
There are actually 4 movies in futurama that each basically last for four episodes each that took the place of one of the seasons. Theyre all pretty great
I think benders big score is my favorite
When aliens invade and a bunch of people are screaming in panic and then start coughing and take a smoke break and then resume screaming.
I love futuramas comedy and it has moments that hit u right in the feels
Frys story is actually kinda tragic and fucked up whenever its dealt with.
The dog episode was just....
I watched tjat as a kid and was sad for a while
Leelas story, idk if i spelled it right, is also pretty sad too
what joke
Prob something that was fine for the time but not fine now
I heard they're gonna make a Matrix 4 scheduled for 2021. Only of the wachowski's is on it tho reportedly.
I hope to God it turns out even decently watchable

its just censoring a joke i mean if it doesnt fly today its ok ig
This is totally just like 1894
thats when they had cowboys and shit right
I think they meant 1984 lmao
Yeah, when we believed the Sun revolved around us and we burned people alive who believed otherwise.
Simpler times tbh

@sage sleet
I’m so happy
We all did it, we successfully bitched out WB to give us the Snyder Cut.
It’s turns out that teamwork actually does make the dream work
Full disclosure, I’m not expecting anything grand or amazing enough to make me think the DCEU could properly be salvaged by this, I mean we all know that Snyder Cut or not you can’t expect to do a proper superhero team up movie when you’re introducing half of you cast properly in said movie, but I’m just psyched to see how Zack envisioned it.
i'm really curious to see if it'll be better
I'm optimistic but the snyder era of the DCEU isn't looking too hot
had an idea and quickly realized it was shit lmao
their golden stars are aqua man and wonder woman
and shazam
i hate zack snyder
a ton of people loved his cut back then
and he'll be adding even more so im optimistic
he has never directed a good movie
Watchmen
Nah, he takes the comic and pulls the opposite message from it lmao
Havnt read the comic, but its still a good movie 🤷♂️
D:
I dont know much about the source material but the movie was pretty rad
I got the comic book and plan to read it all eventually
HBO Max is probably the streaming platform I may actually consider supporting
it looks stacked af
@cursive oar || he uses crutches lol ||
Yeah i know || at some point it looked like he could walk without them thats why i was asking ||

John David Washington is the new ...
It looks good, im getting pretty hyped
if you're a 12yo angty girl maybe
Essentially
I love the simpsons
kabibi johnson#1023 was warned !
I finished Scott Pilgrim
No I read the comic
do we have any big cosmere fans here
ive been planning to read something by brandon sanderson for years because you cant talk about anime or fantasy or magic systems on the internet
without hearing about him
but i havent until now, just finished way of kings
it was ridiculously good as promised by everyone on the internet
new book in november :)
it had that strange quality where in other stories i would think things like ||why doesnt dalinar just try to verify the visions' accuracy in some way||, and it would annoy me for the whole story
but then a character actually suggests that and it happens
it was amazing
i mean thats just one very minor example
but the whole book felt a lot like that to me
there were some very satisfying explanations, like i was worried that ||the reason kalladin survives is because he is cursed to survive while his allies die or some bullshit like that||, but then it turns out that ||he survived due to very specific abilities that were introduced to us already in the prologue through szeth, things we KNOW exist in this world||
a lot of things just felt earned and deliberate.
anyway yeah i liked it a lot, it's my understanding that you're supposed to read warbreaker before WoR so ill do that next
ive also been watching his lectures on writing and it's just nice to see him actually applying the stuff he talks about with positive results
100%, everything from the magic system to the world building feels so deliberate and planned. I got so immersed in it on first read that I literally didn't do anything else until I caught up with all 3 books lol
stormlight
I read almost all of the cosmere already I'm just missing a few standalone books
like took me a month or something to catch up
also yea I just finished a rewatch of breaking bad still holds up as my favorite tv show
i really wanna go into a marathon and just read (at least) all of stormlight and mistborn but
- WoK really messed up my sleep schedule for a few days because i just didnt want to put it down and then it was suddenly 8am
- i'm kinda broke rn and id rather not pirate anything, so i'll just slowly move on to warbreaker since its free
fair enough
once the sanderstorm begins it's hard to stop reading and god knows he does it every single book
i was actually already hooked by szeth's scene
i mean it was certainly HARDER to put it down near the climax but yeaahh i was already drinking the kool aid by page 20 lol
do you know why people recommend warbreaker before continuing with stormlight? can you tell me with no spoilers if it's like a big deal
I have a nice infographic here
oh yeah
i mean i've already looked up some but people cant really explain their reasoning without spoiling things
i guess what i'm trying to say is
it's because there are some small character connections that will only make sense if you read warbreaker
I mean it's nothing really major
i see
brandon has a plan to make the plots interwined but atm it's just small details
you know what the problem is, i accidentally got shit spoiled looking at comments for his lectures
the juicy stuff is for a lot later
yea man try not to look anything online
brando has so many plot twists that you'll regret ruining one of them
initially i made the mistake of googling character names to see how different fan artists depict them
big oof
and i realized pretty quickly thats not gonna work out lol
I never do that with any book
even tho I want to
like i'm reading malazan atm and I'd really like some character depictions but I'm holding off
anyway one thing that im pretty sure is a big spoiler is that I've seen ||Fuck Moash|| splattered everywhere so I'm guessing that we're heading towards a ||betrayal|| situation
also like there are some things that i didnt THINK would be spoilers, but turned out to kind of be spoilers
yea that one is really hard to avoid
like it's a problem when a meme is a spoiler
like for instance, it seems to be public information that WoR is Shallan's book and Oathbringer is Dalinar's book (i mean, it's basically in the name)
but then a big "holy shit what the fuck" moment at the end of WoK is ||szeth being assigned to kill dalinar||
that is also correct
well, now I know that's not gonna happen
lol
I'm still really interested in what exactly is gonna happen
it's good stuff just avoid googling anything else
lemme find the infographic
it's all you need for now
you can start anywhere tbh but mistborn and stormlight is the big dick series
they're gonna be the pillars of the cosmere
man I'm expecting this to end in 50 years
so many books planned
i'm amazed he has the dedication to stick to the same ideas years and years later
the man really is a machine
it's something he got in common with oda is they're always doing something
yeah but i think oda has a lot less concrete stuff planned out
when brandon takes breaks he just writes new books
also his involvement with the fanbase is admirable too
he's always posting detailed updates of his current status
even his website has progress bar
yes it's absolutely crazy, he seems like such a wholesome guy
ngl, at first the whole "wholesome mormon guy" thing made me think there's just gonna be a cringy representation of religion in the story, or that he won't really delve into "realistic" gore
but the religious stuff and jasnah was pretty good after all
and then you get stuff like ||kaladin ripping off parshendi carapaces and wearing them as armor, and the parshendi getting traumatized over it||
that's exactly the kind of thing i thought wasnt gonna happen in a story by a wholesome mormon guy
but nope
the dude knows his shit and he's not afraid to write it

i'm really happy about him
something something judge book by cover
but yea his stuff is really brutal sometimes
but without being too sadistic like grrm
way of king is favorite stormlight book because I love kaladin's story
but the third book is godlike
man dalinar is one of the best characters in fantasy literature plus that book has so many epic quotes
ping me when you finish oathbringer I wanna hear what you think
dalinar really is just fantastic
a very extreme all or nothing guy
the scenes at the end of the book were just ridiculous
||OK he's gonna keep his promise to Kaladin, but Sadeas doesnt wanna go along with it. What does he do? Pull out Oathbringer? He's gonna start a war over Kaladin? No, he just gives that shit away. The man has honor. Then he finally stops taking Elhokar's shit after a whole book, beats the shit out of him, and ends the discussion with "by the way I'm fucking your mom, get used to it"||
crazy stuff
still need to continue WoK, I kept it as quarantine backup
Sanderson just has a nice way of describing things
i don't think prose is his strong point really, and in fact i think the type of people who are pretentious about that stuff would dismiss his books for having simple language
but he is really good at writing fight scenes descriptively and vividly
that you can clearly see in your head
which is far more important to me than having like flowery language or whatever
brandon is a more of a story teller than a writer
most people that hate his books is because of his prose

i mean the books don't try to be literary fiction and that's OK, what they do right is done ridiculously well
i think thats why i was hooked right off the bat, i was just amazed at how clearly you can see what szeth is doing and where he is
and he wasnt afraid of using descriptions like "up was now down for the soldier" instead of trying to come up with a clever way of describing gravity or pulling forces or whatever, he really knows when to be concise
his magic system is really grounded on physics so it's easy to follow
but yea I loved that description too
stormlight would be a great anime ngl
Ah, the Cosmere
What a life project
Once it's finished is gonna be ridiculously dense
Like Stormlight is gonna be 10 books by itself

crazy stuff
but thats the list he has on his website right now
thats alot of books
@full stratus I don't mean prose. I mean how he does a good job at getting things across. less flowery language and more what's happening
it's a thing were a lot of novels lost me.
You get to hear how the magical mists swirl in the colors of a million dying suns during a solar eclipse happening in a golden sphere balanced on the god's dome thousand miles under the earth, but not what they are actually doing
Ah yes, that shit is really something
I haven't read anything from him yet, but have heard only good things about him
I know a friend that started reading his books after he finished The Wheel of Time
the praise is well deserved
I know the OG author of that saga died with the story almost completed, and Sanderson took the job of finishing it
So, anyone remember Darkseid?

@sage sleet You mean Thanos?
yes lol
jk I like thanos but i've always been more of a darkseid guy
also i've seen the show dw
That makes sense.
I mean, at least with Thanos, ||he knows what he's doing is wrong, but he feels that he must do it to preserve the universe's resources.||
Which is stupid cause ||he also snapped half of animal and plantlife||
And that made me sad. 😦
Thanos's views were very flawed
6th grader views
SUPERMAN VS HULK GO!
@pale tapir I guess that's what makes Thanos interesting.
Explain.
I miss when thanos was mysterious
pets you
His logic is not flawed as in flaws but understandable. It's flawed in an totally logic defying way.
If over population and limited resources was your main concern, just make more planets inhabitable. Make resources on those planets and shift the people there.
This man really thought there was no other way other than universal genocide. I guess, he didn't really know any other way.
But he has a war council, and nobody thought to tell otherwise to him?
i am watching a movie right now
In my headcanon thanos was secretly actually just trying to court death like in the comics but he used a convenient excuse to think of himself as a hero and court her while denying any other solutions
"This is the only way..... yeah.... thats right"
@smoky grail I guess not. 😦
13rw is such a shitty show
lmao this is actually awful
and holy shit hannah is so fucking annoying
Wha?
actually no i changed my mind
i don’t like any of the characters
everyone is very melodramatic
😐
😐
I don't...what?
https://www.reddit.com/r/lordoftherings/comments/gp8ws6/dont_know_how_to_post_this_properly_but_i_found/ this is beautiful, I love LotR so much. That quote.
Okay.
You seem lost, moon. Have a glass of water and collect your thoughts
It's not spiked, is it?
ill answer all your questions after you drink it
So it is spiked!
No no of course not its just normal water. Have a drink for yourself and see
Woukdve been better if he was just trying to court lady deatj
But ig wider audiences wouldnt have bought it
And resource scarcity is more serious and relatable
@barren temple drinks the water
LOOKING FOR GOOD SHOWS NOT ANIME HAS 2 BE REALLY GOOD
no

The boys @modest peak
Please stop talking in all caps

😐
This rick and morty episode was probably the best in the season
Feels like old times
have yall seen the 1996 pinocchio movie?
it scared the shit out of me when i was lik 6
...The what? 😐
Okay. 😐
@dim hedge 7 and 8 were pretty good too
Yeah pinocchio was wild
I always got more scared by monstro
After rewatching i think its my favorite disney movie of that older era
This last episode was funny too
Ibelieve today's ||Ian McKellen|| birthday
Neat!
It's the Emperor's Birthday!
Room with brie Larson sucks
Ew. Brie Larson. XC
It's the Emperor's Birthday!
@cold dock Sheves?
He's also the ||Senate||
Still prefer Cosinga Palpatine as his name.
Wait that was his original name?
Yeah in legends.
That's interesting
Agree and it was a legends book that talk about his sith master.
I haven't read all of legends
It one of the best ones since it from James Luceno.
Brie Larson is fine the movie just sucks
Also specified it was hers because of the other room movie
@dim hedge are you serious? Episode 6 was probably top 2 of the season
Idk i guess i get peoples frustrations with rick and morty but to say any episode is bad always seems like a stretch to me, even in this season. It has some of the most creative and well-thought out concepts in the series so far
I didnt even dislike the season 3 finale, even though it was kinda anticlimactic and disappointing but that was dan harmons best move knowing that the show would get greenlit into oblivion if he didnt learn to slow things down a little
Idk sometimes i guess we gotta stop being spoiled brats and enjoy the show until the big stuff happens
And thats my cringey rick and morty rant thank you for reading
I mean its still the same level of funny no matter what other criticisms you have imo but idk
I dont think season 1 was too "im crying laughing" funny. More funny concepts. Id argue season 4 has it all. Funny & interesting concepts, and a million times where i laughed for at least a solid 10 seconds
You can make good criticisms about episode pacing and each episode needing a second thought for you to really understand and appreciate it but in terms of comedy idk i personally dont see a change
To each their own ig
ive never been a fan of rick and morty
That's okay.
i wouldnt say the humor is forced but the humor itself is kinda annoying
something something high iq
no i mean how ur supposed to enjoy it
its hard to explain
i mean how the show treats itself
it's just overblown because of fans treating it like the second coming
if it wasn't this popular it would be passable by most people
plenty of shows out there try to be hella woke
its how the themes mix with the comedy cuz the jokes are dumb but the themes are like hyper intelligent super nova super thinking
yea woke is accurate
but it comes across as annoying
if there was one joke i could use to embody rick and morty it would be "hah i moved the bible to the fiction section"

Lmao
Idk i guess i can see that mindset but there are plenty more shows that are more annoying in that aspect
South park, for example, even though i like it
Idk if id say its trying to be super woke
A lot of it is still dumb humor
And even if u dont get the ideas its playing with its still digestible
Most of the time i have no clue shits deeper than what it is is unless theres some vid explaining it
And most shows and movies are like that
Yeah theres a lot of episodes in this season especially that i only really understood after looking deeper or watching it again
I dont think ive had that experience with any other show
Which is funny because the high IQ memes came way before season 4 but this seems like the season where you really do need a high IQ to understand it on the first go
I always watch Wisecrack on youtube they typically find all the high iq stuff in movies and shows
Yeah wisecracks great for that stuff
Been watcging atla from the start
And did not remember how great katarra was
Shes honestly the leader ang was trying to be
This opinion hurts my brain
It felt like the average season 3 episode for me and i loved season 3
But i understand some people dislike that season too so whatevers
Well hold on lol abc's of beth was one of the best rick and morty episodes of all time imo
Well at least the conclusion of it
I couldn't care less about the quality and deepness of the stories, Rick and Morty gives me 20 minutes completely out of this world and it's worries and boringness at this moment. It's the perfect escape from reality
It really is. I just hate the bad reputation it
has
gotten over the years
:D
PICKLE RIIIICK
Mhmm
Idk to me the newest episode actually felt more like a standard season 1 or 2 ep
The family each goes on their own adventure and we get subtle bits of character dev in each interaction
To me it seemed like a nice hybrid of the old and new rick and morty
I hated how rick flipped out at the end. Sure it fits his character and gave me a laugh but what an absolute duck he still is
That was pretty funny
Yeah his character arc wont be over for a long while
Ive been defending rick and morty so much i must get bullied in school a lot
I just don't really mention it, when I did my friend immediately facepalmed and I convinced him that I'm not like that part of the fandom, luckily he's a reasonable guy
Its just a thing where i can understand where people are coming from with criticism sometimes but i still dont get why they hate the things they do
And there are a million more criticisms i cant even believe are criticisms
But thats just about every popular thing ig. Even one piece
Yea
Noine noine
And stranger things
Im starting peaky blinders
I finished st and b99
Well, not b99 because im not caught up with the latest season
Ohh and terry too
like even when he's serious
True
Aye okay?
"Aye okay?" ?
Nah i just saw it in there lol
pffffff lmao
I kinda do it irl sometimes so yea
that definitely looks like a twisted hand to me
let me see the bigger emoji

OH
it looks clearer now
Hahahaha
i thought it was a twisted hand or sommething
i saw your reaction, i was like "okaay..."
lmao
Dang IP MAN did some serious damage to my rose tinted view of Japan
First one is cool af
Renato, now u know why japan is not that popular politically by other asian countries
Anime, manga and video games saved its ass
Even when ip man is bad its entertaining
Its surreal. Like ip man 3 || had mike tyson in it and he spoke the most broken chinese and || it was hilarious
Yeah lol
Ip man 1 is at least a really goos movie imo
The sequels are entertaining because of the action, but they arent that good....
They really just be standing there looking crazy.

its one of the few old classics that deserves its every praise
i do find some older movies being overrated tbh but not that one
its still epic
is dolittle 2020 any good ?
ngl the only appeal so far from what i have seen is RDJ
all i know about it is that RDJ ||shoves his hand up a dragons ass||

But more thought out
Join us THIS SUNDAY at 9am PT/12pm ET for an epic reunion you won't want to miss.

||They really went and gave mike tyson an asian wife in IP MAN 3||
IP Man 3 spoilers ^
Literally what was the point of that.
Its the best casting decision anyones ever made is what it is
Too bad Sir Christopher Lee is no longer with us
😦
man was the only one of the cast who actually met tolkien
also was a war hero
as well as a classically trained actor
rip
what distinguishes a classically trained actor?
does that just mean he was really old
honestly roro idk
i always assumed like you go to special acting school idk
makes it sound fancy and british

So, I had to put up with some random Kuvira apologist on Pinterest.
I called Kuvira a Nazi Bitch, which she fucking is. Don't deny it.
TLOK S4 ||The bitch sends people to fucking PRISON CAMPS if they refused to swear their loyalty to her, and she'd let villages starve if they didn't agree to swear fealty to her. Plus, she refused to give back the Earth Kingdom to Wu.||
||Oh, and let's not forget that she threatened Bolin's and Varrick's lives.||
||And harnessed dangerous energy from the spirit vines.||
DO NOT mess with the Spirits.
It won't end well for you.
||And I'm supposed to feel bad for her because her Mom and Dad abandoned her when she was a child? Oh, boo-fucking-hoo. Su took her in, gave her a home, and treated her like family, but that wasn't enough for her!||
Sounds like doflamingo talk
Go off moon
What?
U did that sis! 💅
Yasss queen slaayy 👄
||LoK: so yeah kuvira is bad she's putting people in forced labor camps
Me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb_YRLURZmI||
LoK S4 spoilers
Sure.
This is when she captures a group of bandits, forcing them to either swear loyalty to her or be sent to a forced labor camp.
TLOK S4, btw.
Also, TLOK S4
Kuvira fucking berated a governor of an Earth Kingdom city for refusing to sign a contract with her.
i know i was being a bit facetious
it was, imo an issue a little prevalent with book 4 that things were mentioned offscreen a little too much
i get the show was cancelled and then picked back up like halfway through but still
Oh.
Any Star Wars fans around?
I just watched like an hour of videos on Darth Sidious and I think he's my new favorite person
Nerd
Agree since Darth Plagueis is better.
So is the Witcher Netflix show on like DVD yet
has there been any new movies released straight to dvd/bluray or streaming?
i miss watching movies lol
would have seen a quiet place 2 and black widow already if it wasnt for what is going on right now
I dont think netflix originals ever go to dvd
If you want to watch it pirate it or use netflix
@crimson lance that aint true because I've rented a blu ray of stranger things s1
@dense stag Plagueis pffft
Vodo-Siosk Baas is my favorite jedi/sith by far
dude used a quarterstaff instead of a lightsaber
@fading cedar Since he was Darth Sidious' teacher and master.
Who was killed, sure
Before Sidious was at the height of his power, even
Plagueis was cool, but Sidious is still the best Sith in canon
Also he had the best planning out there
And was the only Sith who actually managed to win
Darth Krayt won as well.
Darth Krayt is non-canon.
Legends isn't the same as non canon.
But some characters can still be canon though. Like Zayne Carrick for example.
Can be, sure. But he is not one of them until he actually shows up in canon
Just because he was made doesn't mean we can just throw him into the main storyline now, and Sidious is still the best lol
He from 4000 years before yavin so who knows what true or not back then.
Before? He was active after Yavin, though
Nah i mean Zayne.
Speaking of Star Wars, I just finished Rise of Skywalker for the first time today
There were so many problems, but the ending fight was pretty perfect
True.

I don't know if they will at all, at this point I have no idea what they'll be trying to do
JJ didn't screw too much up, but there really wasn't much he could do to salvage what Rian goddamn Johnson did
I hope Disney blacklists him at this point, he just wrecked all of the potential the new trilogy could've had
No Revan is already canon
But I don’t know if they’ll make a story with him
Or her
Oh is he?
I just looked it up, apparently he was supposed to have a seen in the Clone Wars show
All the Sithtrooper cores in ROS are named after famous Sith
There’s a Revan core
Brb
corps
Legions not corps
It’s in the Rise of Skywalker visual dictionary
All of these Sith, atleast by name, are canon
Tenebrous too? I'm good with this
I just realized, in the last scene where all of the Jedi are talking to Rey
Instead of Hayden Christienson, they used Anakin's VA from the Clone Wars show
such a great choice
Actually
They did use Hayden
I believe
Yep they did
In a tweet they showed footage of Hayden while they promoted the scene for the blu ray
For his voice speaking? They used his Clone Wars VA there, did they use Hayden for something else?
I feel like it's a little shitty that Sidious could do what he did, but not really destroy anything
Yaaasss I love the line up
I swear they deepened it then, it sounded more like the good VA he has in Clone Wars than Hayden
I agree
But he is older
So it probably just deepened with age+experience
God I hope so, 'cause he was a horrible Anakin when he had to be dramatic
I hated him so much, and Anakin was supposed to be such a more badass character
But then Clone Wars stepped up and 100% redeemed him, it was so great
His character is soooooo much better animated
He has actual confidence in everything he says and does
I think Hayden could’ve done better
He wasn’t totally bad
His “I hate you” at the end was very visceral
Yeah, see that was good
It wasn't all his acting, it was also the directing
But his tone was never really a solid, forceful warrior's like it should be
At best he was whiny, and at worst sounded like a child throwing a tantrum
I get what you mean
Doesn’t really fit with either Vader’s imposing presence or the great general he’s supposed to be
Okay the rick and morty season 4 finale was pretty much on par with the season 2 finale if anyones wondering
Or some of the really good s1 or s2 episodes
I need to catch it, did it just finish?
@candid heath But y'know, the Clone Wars really did redo Anakin's character and made him into an absolutely legendary Clone Wars general
Yeah I know
I should watch it
You haven't seen it?
It's on Disney+ I wanna say if you have that
And the last season just finished too
@fading cedar just finished tonight yeah
Gotta give my thoughts on this season after i process it all
Its been a rollercoaster
Feel free, I'll stay away from here till I see it
ill try to spoiler tag as much as i can
Rick and morty season 4 finale/whole season || if anything the finale proves that the show hasnt gone to shit but really just has to space things out more. That being said, if i could give any main flaw to this season, its pacing. The content was all great imo but the pacing was kinda fast so it didnt sink in or land as well. I almost feel like some of these episodes shouldve been stretched into 2-parters ||
|| best episodes: the toilet episode, the vat of acid episode, the story train episode, the time travel snake episode, and the finale. Others might disagree and some of the last 5 did have their own problems but i think all these episodes were pretty good, and the finale was fantastic ||
|| wait the episode where rick died and morty went akira was really good too ||
That pretty much sums it up
@fading cedar i think youre safe now
People probably wont see the finale until a couple more days anyway
My stupid ass still has cable
Rick and Morty S4 finale. ||I'm just happy that Tammy's finally dead. 😄 ||
|| cant wait to see what happens next with bird person too ||
^
I just watched the finale
yaaasss
How to spoiler tag again?
||test||
Mkay there we go
@barren temple ||I loved the finale, but I totally agree. It honestly just seems like they love going for a big finish but never really setting up for it for each season. Like if this episode were just the first episode after season 3, I could totally believe nothing else happened in between.||
||But then at the same time, they have had so many good ones this season too.||
|| yeah thats what ive been saying too. Its all pretty great but harmon and roiland are being strategic here realizing theyre gonna have to pad things out for the next like 700 episodes they have to make now. If you just take the episodes as what they are, theyre pretty good and have great rerun value ||
|| like i was really shook by that line in the finale where rick looked at tammys corpse and said "you died just as you lived: overserialized." I think the crews all been realizing that they gotta make a lot more episodes just for fun and cool concepts before maybe saving the bigger stuff for finales and stretching it ||
Now that the fanbase is hopefully on the same page with them about that, we can get a bit more appreciation in the future
||spits on Tammy's corpse||
Atla tales of iroh still makes me cry
(hugs you)

Cholula I finished Godfather 1 the last day
@uncut yarrow very nice
and yeah Al Pacino was perfect for Michael's role
wow imagine being able to choose a favorite film
Just started avatar
al pacino is ridiculously good, you can watch like Godfather, Dogday Afternoon, Scarface, Donnie Brasco, how is this the same person
i really find that actors tend to be really good at either capturing an air of competence or an air of incompetence. Someone like Christoph Waltz can play a very believable good guy in Django after playing a very believable bad guy in Basterds, but he's still playing in that same field of "very competent, assured, likeable", despite the differences between the characters. A lot of even ridiculously good actors are just particularly good at either playing a strong character or a weak character
and i get amazed when one guy can seem extremely reliable and stable one movie, and then totally buffoonish the next, without it seeming like a ridiculous caricature
i think a lot of people like to pick out three films he made toward the end of the career and act like he always plays the same person, but if you actually watch his films it's just insane how versatile his portrayals are
again, you get a lot of actors that easily go from "good guy" to "bad guy", but it's really hard to believably go from "really smart" to "really stupid", or from confident to terribly insecure
such specific differences in body languages between somethign like the Godfather and something like Donnie Brasco, he completely understands how someone who is sure of himself acts, and how someone who desperately wants to prove himself acts. It's why the Godfather is so good, he goes from a believable empathetic good kid to a believable ruthless mafia boss. A lot of people are good at doing one or the other, very rarely are they SO GOOD at both of them
the dude is really good at what he does
/walloftext
Is that u watching Avatar thelast air bender @sage sleet
Or are my sisters getting smarter and watching better shows on my Netflix

I mean, || He’s a violent man who has a kind heart I guess || Seven
|| I feel weird about John Doe, he scares me lol || Seven

|| It was neither explicit or implicit imo, maybe I should look it up || Seven

Yup.
I loved korra, moonlit

do a timeskip for season 4 then partially continue it on korra?

@mighty mist
I hate the Nelvana dub of Cardcaptor Sakura. One of the worst dubs I've ever heard in my life.
I was so ignorant to what anime was back then. I thought it was just cartoons with better animation
Same.
First it's the ignorance stage, then you find out about subbed anime. Finally, you find manga and you are blessed
Yup.
I did a rewatch and holy crap
There’s like barely anything good in Book 2 of korra
|| the only good about It is that korra left the spirit portals open. That’s about the only good thing || Legend of Korra book 2
|| the concept of the avatar is about bringing balance and stuff which is neat. But even the avatar wan mini arc was pretty stupid. Raava and Vatuu are spirits of technically order and chaos, but wan only fused with Raava so like, it just makes the avatar unbalanced by default. And for some reason it displays Vatuu and just being evil when chaos doesn’t mean evil, just as order doesn’t mean good || Korra book 2
|| don’t even get me started on the dark avatar. Sounds cool on paper I guess but it’s also stupid || Korra book 2
...Yeah. 😐
Theres so much great stuff in avatar on a full rewatch
First episode: || uncle iroh: "firebending is in THE BREATH" ||
Oh TLAB is magnificent

But Korra kinda .. shits on the concepts introduced then
|| like metalbending for some reason has a 1/100 earthbenders being able to metalbend. Which is stupid since the way metalbending was created was by toph finding earth impurities in metal and quite literally bending metal || Korra book 4
I do think Korra book 1 and book 3 are really good
But man some of the things that happen just absolutely shit the bed
Korra is quite literally mid
||i mean toph is also the best earthbender there is and was the one to have pulled it off and literally created the technique so metal benders being that rare doesnt really contradict what she did and if anything emphasize the rareness of it||
Albair || it really does actually. The police force in republic city has a lot of metal benders. And the way toph derives the technique was as I mentioned her finding earth impurities and bending the metal with said impurities. Also there’s an entire city of metal benders || Korra book 3
Not that rare
||that doesnt mean that its not rare. It just simply means that not everyone is able to do it which makes sense. Using toph as example doesnt help when shes literally the first EVER to do that and is one of the best. And of course theres a police force of metal benders because toph created it. The same goes for the city. They went out and found people who were capable of doing it and then created environments for the to thrive in. Thats the very reason theyre able to even have that statistic in the first place. Ur literally talking about two place in the WHOLE WORLD that has that many metal benders that literally all just migrated or were asked to come to those places.||
@magic bloom
Seasons 1 and 3 of Korra are amazing. 2 has its moments but lacks and 4 is ok
|| yea they migrated there they weren’t always in those places and while it is two places in the world, they’re both in the earth kingdom (republic city is in the same continent as the EK) which would have the highest amount of earthbenders so it’s a fair to use them. But making metalbending an ability that people are born with instead of some other issues is pretty stupid and in a way takes away the creativity toph used when creating the technique. I think she is the best use because while she is the best, even she couldn’t metalbend until she used her seismic sense to see impurities inside metal. She wasn’t born being able to use the technique she had to create it ||
TLAB/korra
Wow i completely forgot that || iroh was the only one that could see spirit aang in that one spirit episode ||
||i can get behind that as a complaint. But for me it had always made sense that it would be more rare than not and sometjing some people just cant pull off. But it is somewhat of a departure from stuff like lightning redirection and blood bending which are both techniques that were created and as far as we know something people can learn altho im not as sure about blood bending. I could definitely see that being something that most people could never learn. Also i would go on a limb and say that toph’s seismic sense is probably incredibly difficult to master and probably too hard to understand for most people in the first place which could lean into why metal bending is so rare. Since its something she learned from the masters. And something ang showed once in the last episode. Idk that was something that i never took issue with since toph herself was actively teaching people this ability as well. Its like if katarra went out snd tried to teach people blood bending im sure it would be difficult for most people.||
|| yea I can agree to that. She’s the only person in TLAB to have mastered seismic sense, until aang. But blood bending and lightning generation have both pretty hard limits and while in theory anyone could learn, not everyone can. For lightning generation it has the requirement of separating energies within themselves, and (aside from unalaq/Amon) bloodbending only works during a full moon. While lightning generation did become more commonplace during Korras time it didn’t have a limit imposed on it. That’s something that i would’ve liked to be kept with metalbending instead of making it a trait people are born with. Having to learn seismic sense as a prerequisite for metal bending or something along those lines. Toph did manage to refine the technique through TLAB so maybe it became easier so use for others, but making it a born trait feels counterintuitive || TLAB/Korra
Yea i agree with all of that.
But i do wonder if ||magma bending is gonna go the same route. Its weird cuz both roku and kyoshi both do lava bending so we never got confirmation if it was something that stemmed from earth or fire but i always assumed it was a combo of both. I do wonder if ur born with that as well and just how rare it is especially since we saw two past avatars use it and before korra none used metal bending.||
Hmm
I wanna say yes but they kinda made a big deal about ||how amazing it was when one of the main villains of season 3 did it and bolin doing it just in time to save them. Like all of the red lotus had something unique about them||
Weird but im glad you liked it
I’ve seen the show like 10 times but I’m tryna get everyone in my life to watch it rn and see their reactions @sage sleet
ah gotcha
this is my third time I wanna say watching it
a lot of things I brushed past as a kid are much more meaningful
like the northern water tribe
I love the northern water tribe
One of my fav stupid eps is the ||two diff tribes in the earth nation that are traveling||
The resolution was so stupid lmao
before I rewatched those episodes, all I could remember was || the whole guy being engaged to gran gran and yue being the moon|| but after I got hit with like 10 diff things
|| feel like it was also a turning point for zuko a tiny bit||
oh yeah that's probably the episode I remembered the most lmao
It’s also the only arc the movie covered
So it’s partially ruined for me
But the ||fight in the crazy weather is insane too||
I kinda forgot how quick they ||killed some characters like they said fuck zhao also I didn't even know they killed jet bc I was too young||
ATLA
like I saw it today n i'm just lookin around makin sure I got that right
the second ||arrow guy spoke I knew it was over||
||i have such mixed feeling about the fire book||
think i'm close to getting there
||I thought book 2 would kinda be more... action filled? like not bad but idk I thought book 1 would be more calm but it seems to be the opposite||
and for book 3 ||I could be wrong bc been a minute but I think it might have been rushed||
||its not a lot of action as in fighting but there is a lot of different motions surrounding appa, the train, the brainwashing, etc etc||
||the library has to be one of my fav eps too for how much they learn||
||too bad that bird was a BIH||
||the library is iconic there's not getting around that||
all avatar earth book ^
man I haven’t watched in a good while and still remember so much
it’s honestly entrained into my mind
||humans ruined owl spirit. also I forgot how much they actually used spirits in atla. I thought it was made up in korra||
I think I ended up remembering more about korra bc I enjoyed it while most didn't
I’m actually a fan of Korra
atla has a lot of nostalgia backing it up and I can promise u that if it was a sequel instead, it wouldn’t be nowhere as loved
I asked moonlit this, but what do you think
the villains were eons better
do you think if there was a book 4 where they had a time skip it would have made the transition into korra easier?
100%
bc seeing aang and the gang in korra was sick af but we were left wanting more
also yeah korra villains went so damn hard
yea they kinda left us hanging, we cared about the old crew too much
there's a lot of shit they could do
||her ruining her connection with all avatars just made it worse though lol||
I still think a book 4 with a time skip is totally achievable
also they should do mini series
||literally peoples fav eps were the ones surrounding nostalgia with zuko and toph||
||like animate what happened to zuko's mom bc it's in the comics, maybe do what happened right after aang disappeared, etc||
it is but less likely now becuz of Korra
they wouldn’t wanna ruin any continuity
||when zaheer killed the awful earth queen, I was like u to mans but it was so conflicting becuz his justice bordered narcisstic fascism||
literally all the fire lord wanted in avatar was fire fire rule world
like bruh come on
