This movie is just a decent into madness, with nothing to it. Other than “they went mad- the end” No “hidden meaning” or lesson to be learned. I’m also fine with slow burning movies but there needs to be a payoff, there is none to me.

They have given me no reason to empathize , sympathize or even care for any of the characters and I’m pretty sure that’s important when making a character driven movie, even if it’s the bad guy. Someone to root for. A movie doesn’t necessarily need to have strong characters, but you at lest need to have a compelling story to make up for the lack of characters or else there is just no point for me . It lacks both which is why I don’t like it at all. — to me the movie is just an attempt to be artsy. Whooo! A black and white movie where they talk in rich thick old English accents from the 1890’s

The only reasonable explanation to thinking it’s straight up bad.

Its about the real life story of an American hero. Desmond T. Doss . His upbringing, his time in the war. And his quest towards refusing to bear arms.

Ridge isn’t boring because it’s slow. It’s boring because it’s so corny and melodramatic that I don’t care about what’s going on. And it doesn’t really do anything I haven’t seen done better in other war films. It’s average and doesn’t try to be anything more than average. Hacksaw ridge doesn’t break the mold and it really doesn’t have to.
