My favourite Mikkelsen role is probably Ivan from Adams Æbler. He plays a priest who is completely unable to register when anything unpleasant happens to him or anyone around him. Meanwhile he's surrounded by deranged, anti-social characters that he's trying to rehabilitate.
The main character in the film is a neo-nazi who's trying to get through to Ivan. Mostly because he's kinda disturbed by Ivan's denial of all the bad parts of reality.
