I gotta be honest. I was hating on Spiderverse b4 the first trailer dropped. I hated that they're not doing a live action. When I watched it, it was not only fun, it was impressive. His transition from public to private school was collocated with his journey from regular nigga to hero. The way he didn't fit in at first. His uncle was a great touch. I'm so dumb. My old show had Prowler and when they first announced Gambino for Homecoming, I was excited. I didn't look at the casting for this and was surprised that they went forward with it here, unlike Homecoming. My fav was Penny Parker.

I liked it for being more of a realistic take on Superman in live action. You have an individual who has felt alone and different his entire life despite the best attempts at his parents to give him love, and while they certainly did a bang up instilling values into him those insecurities were still there. He went on a journey to find out about himself, he did, then he resolved himself to cast away a fully normal life so that he could use his abilities to help people. Now correct me if I'm wrong but that fight near the end was Superman's first major battle, if so it would make sense that a very inexperienced Superman would not be able to move his enemies out of the city in time and as such a lot of people got caught in the crossfire. On top of that MoS made the first lesson a superhero has to learn and accept abundantly clear: it doesn't matter what your abilities are, how strong you are, your force of will etc. You cannot save everyone, people are going to get hurt, and people are going to die because of your inaction.
