but while you're at the sketching stage, well, if you're still there
the proportions are kind of unusual, i'm not sure if you're going for that kind of thing on purpose
but i suggest looking at the head/shoulder ratio of characters you like, and compare them, to see if this is really what you want to draw
usually in anime women have larger heads, all characters do, and this head is small even compared to a normal human, with very broad shoulders and a large neck
now if that's what you're going for, cool, but if it's not, maybe you should look into the kind of proportions you like a bit more
it's the kind of thing that for me really helped bridge that gap between "what art i love looks like" and "what my art looks like", so i figured it might be useful to you too

Let me stop acting tough and tell you the real reason I decided to only draw using a pencil: I’m too lazy to switch tools during the middle of a drawing, and so to overcome this, I just decided to use a singular pencil to satisfy my lax needs.

Mechanical too. I know mechanical takes longer to shade than regular pencil but it’s more precise, and the lead doesn’t go uneven as much.
I’m currently drawing something right now, I’ll show it after I’m done.
I’ve already posted 3 of my pencil drawings here though.

To me, physical is the most fun. Having something tangible to hold and touch and being able to do it anywhere, no batteries required. We're already staring at screens for a long time everyday

Yeah, I really hate the pencil smudging.
For me to make precise lines, I have to rest my hand on the paper.
Which causes all the smudging.
Frankly, I don’t mind as much when it smudges the actual shaded parts, but when it smudges the outlines, it looks horrible.
When it smudges the outlines, it makes it harder to distinguish between certain parts of the character. Outlines should not be smudged at all. For example from my most recent drawing, it’s hard to differentiate between the blond and black parts of the hair because the outlines on the blond hair were smudged.

i'm not sure digital makes it "easier"
i mean for me it's easier to use tools i'm used to, certainly with digital art it's easier to erase and zoom in and such
and you can use all colors and tools with unlimited variety, you don't have to pay for every fucking marker
but i think the expectation that it will be easier to draw with better tools is usually misplaced
anyway phantasm you can just start inking the drawings and it won't be a problem

you can work to make things cleaner on it and such, but its never quite like drawing on paper

Well, to be more precise, Danny was my original name before Phantasm. I took about a year hiatus from Discord and thought it was time to start fresh, and so I went with Phantasm, which basically means Illusion.
The character is Thomas Arclight from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Series.
