you can make a lot of very vibrant lively lines if you do it well

but being able to draw with a g-pen is also slowly joining the territory of "useless but neat parlor trick", considering that you can emulate a g-pen almost perfectly with a tablet

i think there's something really romantic about making manga with the same tools that stuff like dragon ball and one piece and whatever are made from

okay like working with certain tools it's not just a matter of it taking longer to fix, some things are impossible to fix, sometimes you have to wait for paint to dry and shit before you can do anything, it's a whole different ball game when you have the ability to go back and forth between your tries

stuff like being able to mix colors into the exact shade you want, that requires knowledge and skill, it requires understanding color on some level. this understanding is not required when you pick a color out of a pallet. if you need to recreate an exact color to paint more, that's difficult, using a photoshop tool to grab the exact color again is easy. it's not just a matter of "time", it's a matter that one requires more skill and practice than the other

stuff like these focus lines require knowing how to work with a g-pen and how to work with a ruler with a g-pen without constantly messing the ink, it's not something you can do on your first day, it's something that takes a long time to understand

it's not just slower, it requires your body to be in a different place, and there are people who would only be able to do it through the car. in order to do it with a bicycle, you have to have a certain skill and experience (i.e. a well-exercised body) that you do not need in order to ride the bus

but i can tell you as someone who has drawn manga physically and digitally that the latter is not just faster, but it's also significantly easier
