what is the best crates plugin as of right now

That's a very strong question, my personal recommendations leading more towards aquatic crates, as i've seen very little complaints about the plugin, however it is a $10 plugin (https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/✨-aquaticcrates-new-era-of-crates-models-cinematics.102442/)

The next and very common plugin is ExcellentCrates that has like 200k downloads but im personally not a fan of how the plugin is formatted for the configs and there is a problem with version 4.0.6 and nexengine 2.2.7 (There is an active PR to fix that problem) so you'll have to use nexengine 2.2.6 (https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/excellentcrates-advanced-custom-crates.48732/)

I also have my own which is on github but the other two are consistently developed and available on spigot CB_fingerguns
