Might make a plugin that depends on Holograms or HolographicDisplays (whichever the person downloading has), so you can create a hologram scoreboard from any placeholder. Something like /leaderboard create <max entries> -h/-s (highest/smallest) {placeholder} "Display text {player} {placeholder}", some generalized hologram leaderboard system would be nice for many people lol

@tired fable Try this, go the versions jar, open it on winrar search for the lang file then copy it to your resource pack, then edit it where the names are and try something like "block.minecraft.chest": "\u00A7fChest", in theory it should make the text of the chest white, haven't tested so i can't confirm.

OVH is great, but basically you have no real form of support whatsoever

You go elsewhere and ddos protection is very rarely available, and even more rarely provided for free; But, RS, you can send a ticket in and you'll often have a reply in an hour

#

You've clearly never been in an environment where the availability of services is critial

Basically, if you kill a disk on OVH, the fastest option to deal with it is to literally just order a new machine

Hey idk where else to ask this, but my heavily modded minecraft is lagging and idk why. Ik it sounds like a stupid question, but I have 12 gb of ram and a decent processor, and my old computer which was 4 years out of date, with only 8gb, could handle these mods just fine.

1.14 (and 1.13) was terrible performance wise, and that's why 1.15 is a more technical update. They've realised that, and are making changes. But, until then, we have to use legacy (or, not the latest versions) because they can't even hold 100 players on a single instance without tps drops and other issues

You're buying the latest version of the games, and being granted future updates for free. If you choose to use legacy versions, you accept whatever issues come with them. They're focused on moving forward

We can't really move on if players use it, the needed mods are on it, future versions aren't as performant, etc

It's just up to the admins/owner/developer/whatever to make it a unique experience.

Hey guys, so I have been thinking about a concept
that I might want to create dependent on reactions I receive.

Custom Skyblock or Survival

So basically a survival or faction server dependent on voting with a lot of custom features such as custom items with abilities / classes / rankups / staffs / custom item recipes / shields / custom mobs.

Elaboration on the mentioned features

Classes - A class you could select that would grant a pernament effect at your journey
Rankups - Various rankups you have to complete in either two ways: money or multiple requirements such as playtime etc.
Staffs - Magic staffs that shoot objects such as fireballs / water streams / tnt, etc
Custom Item Recipes - custom recipes for those other mentioned items to be crafted, the craft items would be obtainable through either challenges / custom mobs / crates / daily challenges.
Shields - Shields that grant effects or extra hearts etc.
Custom mobs - plenty of custom mobs that have abilities to attack players / drop custom items / loot / etc

Some stuff on tps and 1.14. apparently there was a fairly important change to how the server saves to disk in 1.14 (technically 1.13, but who's counting?)

Pretty sure we actually had patches in paper and maybe even some in CB to deal with the potential of a chunk getting lost

Never really heard of that shit occuring until 1.14

#

Now, the cost of saving has gone up like 10 fold, so on spigot/cb/vanilla that is a literally killer

#

The biggest major TPS hurdle is their chunk loading implementation, if a player logs in and triggers a large area of chunks to be loaded, that can be dealt with between the thread sleep, and generally shouldn't cause an issue

#

The issue is is that if the main thread needs a chunk in the meantime, it's stuck behind all of the other chunk loads in the queue, meaning that it literally craps itself as there is no prioritization there or anything whatsoever

#

We've fixed some of that mess in paper, still areas which are kinda icky to the point where in the ideal world, we would literally just rewrite the entirety of mojangs chunk-loading mess
