@drifting thistle I've sold a SB servre, Factions, and even a whole network. Took me 4 months to make each one and I had buycraft for it, every plugin fully setup, and everything working as if it was a popular server. It all depends on the builds and how you customize it, some buyers like a clean look, some like a conjusted informated look, all depends.

It's a lot of work, and important not to get too attached since you basically did all of it by yourself and letting it go. If you have the money and it turns out really good, make it your own server though bc I sold one of my best that I worked 7 months on in 2015 for $400 and the server made $4,500 in the first 6 months.

The underlying problem here is, servers will either be able to use 1.12 items or they won't be able to. But if they do, the amount of people that still use 1.8 will have hindered gameplay.

There's a 1.12 server with a custom protocol allowing 1.8 players to join. But those 1.8 players are not able to see the following:

New Blocks
New Animals
New Items
New Mechanics

So the question is, would you rather have a server that caters to 1.9 - 1.12 players but hinders 1.8 gameplay, or have a 1.8 server that does not include the new and updated features?

This plugin uses Microsoft's Translator API and needs API key(s) (requires a Microsoft account) to work. So what is the point of people requesting a free review and telling you a bit about their server and what they'd like you to say about it. Some people are looking for constructive feedback about their server rather than being told that their server is using leaked plugins.

Telling people that a server is using leaked versions of plugins is a good incentive not to join that server, therefore it is constructive feedback because you should invest in buying those plugins yourself.

I'm sure there are servers which were built on the foundations of leaked plugins and the inability to pay developers for their work, yet they still get players. It isn't a good standard to measure a server's efforts by. You don't blame people for downloading the leaked plugins, you blame the leaker. Just like you don't arrest the users of the drugs, you arrest the drug dealers. Not everyone can afford premium plugins, and if it's right in front of everyone's face to download leaked versions of plugins, then I really can't blame people. It's like expecting people to donate that $10 bill they found on the ground to charity, you just can't hold people to that standard, it's not realistic.

Nevertheless, constructive feedback is something server owner's can actually change, not something that may be dependent on their financial status. Indicating that you should just be a good person and not download the leaked plugin right in front of your face while thousands of other servers do it is not constructive

You hold conservative views which many people don't hold. You're completely right, developers deserve the money for their work and no plugin should rightfully be exploited and leaked for everyone to use. I can empathise with that, but there are two sides to everything, and your traditional views aren't really relevant because they don't realistically change anything. Not everyone wants to do the right thing, nor can everyone do the right thing.

I don't find myself to be a "professional" reviewer by any means. I make a video on any server who makes an RMS in the Spigot section. I go on the server and give my personal and honest first impression. It may not seem like much to you but some people take it as valuable feedback and others take it with a grain of salt. It's up to you how you take it. I try to give tips to the owner on how to improve the server in whatever way i say it in the first place.

@wary willow Great for hubs, etc, many people miss the point that the bigger and more consuming plugins that adore sending individual bulky packets to players are the real problem, like featherboard. If you manage your plugins properly, you can really work a tight budget. Obviously, there wouldn't be much to do because you don't have many plugins installed, but... point proven. Watch your plugins.

If the Watchdog-thing is enabled in LP, then it will update the settings AS SOON as you save the file

I unfortunately have to also say it. I much more like it to edit an file instead doing all those things ingame. And about the "syntax-error". You just need to look to what you type. Not doing it with an blind eye. I use Pex now for a very long time. And never had any issue about "syntax-error". But yea, That just how i wanna use permission plugins. Everyone like to do in an other way.(And yes i tried LP.) I guess its more how you wanna use permission plugins 😅
