get request in banner -> hit mc
in this case, they will register and log in, get an auth token; send request to banner -> banner hits auth -> session ok? -> banner stores in db.
and by session, it's literally just a key that is signed by our private key with an expiration date; we don't actually store sessions otherwise the system wouldn't be truly RESTful
(so in banner when they give us the token, we're essentially just asking the auth service to validate the private key that was used to sign it and then see if the current time is past the expiration time of the validated key)
