Way back in the day, there used to be an exploit that people would use to crash proxies. Idk if it's been fixed. You can try changing the region size to something like 4M in your startup script, but, I'd advise against that. Using something like -Dio.netty.recycler.maxCapacity.default=20000 will also limit potential damage.
However, if it was just OOM, you can try to increase the amount of memory allocated (personally, I use 5GB/proxy). And, make sure your -Xmx is the same as -Xms, that way, you don't waste any RAM 😉
