@half harbor Yeah I hadn't noticed that until someone tipped me off quite a while ago. And that makes sense now you have a 144Hz monitor, since I'm not sure that frame rate actually locks for that section, so you have more frames to catch it
When I recorded it at 60 way back, it only existed for 4 frames, one of which was barely visible even going frame by frame, and the last one had enough effect over it that it was hard to spot anyway

So far I can't find the exact date for Doom 2016 like I could for the main Doom 3 campaign which takes place on November 15 and 16 2145 in that game.
Which theoretically with some fiddling could potentially mean both games are in the same timeline, there are shared asehtetics in the two games for certain things like the UAC Marines/Guards in Doom 3 kinda have similar elements to the Elite Guard/UAC soldiers from Doom 2016 just lower quality.

@digital bison I don’t see how it’s better. Eternal is more fluid, has more variety and is overall more challenging. My only complaint would be the design choices for pickups and some enemy behavior, but that’s about it. Doom 2016 is more repetitive with its encounters and environments, just not as fun to play compared to Eternal imo.

I recently played (and finished) Doom 2016 a few days ago. It had been sitting on a shelf and I've been unable to play it since 2017. God it's a good game. Glad I decided to finish it before Doom: Eternal came out because as soon as I have the money, I'm buying the ultimate edition.

Oh yeah, so you can either throw a grenade/Explosive shot (Shotgun mod) behind them, or use any plasma based weapon on their shields. Plasma burns their shields down quicker, but it uses a lot of ammo so I just chainsaw them lol. Eternal nerfs these guys a lot

Ammo in the early really helps with those pesky Hell Knight fights, or being able to spam remote det RPG easier

in this game you usually use it to take care of the big boys, while in eternal it's mostly for taking care of ammo shortage on the regular

just wanted to post this real quick in case anyone else having issues with stuttering on good hardware... i was running this game perfectly fine before and then i loaded it up last night and it was just really choppy even though my framerates were fine and my hardware is i9-9900k and GTX 1080 extreme 11gb, 32 gig ram, ssd

2016's multiplayer entertained me for a couple of hours, but after that I never touched it again.
As for 2016 vs Eternal, personally, I'm never touching 2016 again (unless I do a run of every Doom game), but I can definitely see how some people might prefer it. It's a different experience.
And 2016 was my favorite game, too.

16 was a masterpiece, they nailed it. eternal... the shoot -> saw -> loot -> repeat gets old pretty fast. its kind of like how dark souls 1 was a masterpiece and then they thought people liked the game being hard, so dark souls 2 was made 'hard' for the sake of being hard, without actually making the game better

I personally hate the way they do the platforming in doom eternal. I like the movement and the wall crawling, but to many times have I been asking myself “what am I supposed to do here?”.
Just to see that I’ve been missing the smallest little thing that blends in with the environment.

The auto map shows walls you can climb, I personally like the most of the platforming, it’s actually not a problem. Biggest criticism is the arcadey style, it’s intentional I know but the Developers went a bit overboard with it. Like there’s no grit that 2016 had, as it looks and feels completely different compared to Eternal. Still I prefer Eternal but it is jarring.

@polar cobalt eternal is awesome too, but different. it has way more hectic combat, much faster too. it feels kinda like quake rather than doom. also it pigeon-holes you into a playstyle designed by the devs, you cant just do what you want (you gotta switch guns all the times and use the chainsaw every 15-20 seconds to regain ammo and stuff)

See that’s the issue with Eternal, unlike Doom 2016, it’s not nearly as gory like just compare Berserk gifs from both games. Not a big deal but a nitpick or mine.

I actually started playing DooM 2016 again yesterday, just to get a Deathmatch fix... I really hope that the Eternal Team takes the Feedback they are getting seriously. I'm more than happy to give battlemode a shot, I just don't want that to be a replacement of a normal Deathmatch mode. It should be "in addition to" not "in replacement of"...

@whole valve I loved both the Doom 3, and 2016 version. Both takes were done very well. I found 2016 went more for the original straight in your face "Im just gonna fuck you up or get fucked up" kinda gameplay, which was the original, in effect. Simple but effectively fun.
What I was not totally thrilled about was the Jumping over endless pits and stuff, cause of the High realistic graphics we got now, and me having vertigo, it always put me on edge.
Needless to say, Eternals effectively messing with me hard in that way... I feel like Im playing mario at times lol

Walk past the elite guard that gives you the token and turn right. If you are where I believe you are Sem then jump onto the boxes at the end and turn right you should be able to jump onto a ledge or something

Not like it's too good of an MP. And I imagine Switch players only cared for the SP entirely. I think the PS4 and Xbox One are still active.
PC MP is somehow still standing I don't know how or why. Maybe it's the SnapMap mode? I have no idea because the achievement stats on PC tells me like only a few really dedicate themselves to the mode.

Not like there is an achievement to finish the game on Nightmare. Just like any difficulty and one for beating the first level on Ultra-Nightmare.
