hey if anyone knows how to fix this just @ me i have been using slade to import custom doom weapons into my map i cant get any of my shotguns to work i can pick them up shoot them and even reload them but when i put it away its gone forever i can get all my other weapons to work except the shotguns its probably simple i just don't see it

I'm stuck/confused... in gzdoombuilder, (using the gzdoom map format) trying to make an elevator that goes down and then back up again after a few seconds. I thought the correct action to use was 247:Elevator_LowerToNearest, but it seems to be lowering and then just... staying there.

Slade is one of the most used program to edit sprites, make new weapons, etc. Free to use and alot of tutorials for it
Also, realm667 has a bunch of custom enemies, weapons and textures, for making maps with custom content.

In order to save on file space and memory, #Doom uses a lego like approach to creating new textures from several assets (referred to as Patches internally). I finally got this reading down (99.9 percent) and can draw wall textures correctly.

Unfortunately I haven't completed any Doom maps. I only make classic Doom maps as well.
Working on a mini mod for doom 1 which makes some small level tweaks, flip flops some around to make the game flow better, such as e4m2 and e4m4 flipping places. Also replaced e3m9 with a finished version of 3do doom's cut "extramap". Any other things I need to change? Keep in mind this is a wad compatible with ports like prboom, im not using decorate, mapinfo, etc.
also, i made sure to fix the broken secrets in e4m3 and e4m7 by simply removing them

kinda felt it was needed as the original e3m9 has a cyberdemon and a lot of other enemies.

You can use this program to edit wads, simply drag both maps into a new wad. I'd wait to do this though, for some reason changing a bunch of files can corrupt the map for some reason? I dunno.
So I'd only add everything to a single wad when you're finished.

@still dagger at first, mess with the original doom textures or someone else's textures first to see how they made them loop while still fitting in a 64x128 or whatever size you're going for. Then after you figure that out try to do the same time make the texture loop naturally to use repeatedly and for it to still make sense. I would recommend symmetry first, before trying more outlandish textures. Also do NOT use MS Paint. Use a GMP editor like Gimp with the Pixel Brush.
@bold sphinx your "people are jumping over my map" issue from a while ago (Aug 30th) can actually be fixed with a simple ZScript Command you can copy paste from a different wad that disables jumping and crouching. I can send you the link to the .wad so you can integrate the ZScript command in with it, but you'll probably need to credit the Script back to said link if you're planning on posting it anywhere.
I'm using it in my own wad, too.
I'm saying this now because nobody has said an option that retains the creativity of building without having to purposefully create ways to stop a player from jumping over.
This would only work if you're planning on running your wad in ZDoom or any of it's derivatives though, as ZScript only works through there, and would not work on PrBoom+, DosBox, Chocolate Doom, ect.
You can also make a version without the code if you wanted for compatibility with those versions of doom, too.

Tried to do a silly little trick here, since Doom Builder doesn't let you have multiple levels, so I made it look like there's a room up there, and then I teleport you when you go upstairs.

had to browse realm667 a lot to find a texture set that fit what I had in mind and this one was good
Also made a custom texture for a box; since I wanted to depart from UAC, I decided to have the basic plot be that the UAC created a division called Silver Lining, which in turn created a testing and research facility named The Prism, wherein you are sent in to check on the current state of everything
until, as expected, something goes wrong, setting all the demonic specimen free

drowninglessons make sure you have jump bound to a key, it's not set by default. If you're planning on playing a lot of wads that use jumping, I recommend use to E and jump to space.

Ultimate Doom Builder or Doom Builder 2 are the best. I'd only recommend Builder 2 if you want to make maps for Doom 1.
Ultimate Doom Builder has the most features, but is primarily focused on Doom 2.
Why would the 1st one be mostly doom 2? What is it missing from the second one for Doom 1 levels?

Ultimate Doom Builder and Doom Builder X still get updated but for beginners id recommend doom builder X than start on ultimate once you get the hang of it

So a while back i had an idea for a megawad, a megawad that decently combines the wolfenstein texture set included in DooM II with the DooM story.
The basic premise is that the UAC's board of universe travel technology's annual test goes haywire, the marines that are sent in report that the portal has taken them to a SS Extraterrestrial research facility in the heart of Nazi Germany. It is eventually revealed later down the megawad that the Nazis have acquired technology of demonic levels and plan to use said technology to slaughter the Allied Powers in Europe. The UAC sends in Major Stan Blaskowicz, our loveable doomguy, to destroy the research base and prevent a Nazi victory in Europe.

for flats make 2 markers named F_START and F_END and paste the flat you want in there. if you want the wad to be vanilla convert the flat into Doom GFX (Flat) in slade

Mod compatibility isn't up to Freedoom, it's up to the sourceport you play it on.

There's no code in IWAD files btw, they're just graphics, sounds and maps.
So, no added support needs to be included for freedoom in the sourceport itself, especially if it uses vanilla formats (Like midi and doom formatted graphics).

I'm wondering, would it be alright if I take the entire game of Doom Eternal and turn it into a massive Doom 2 mod? You'd still have to get the actual game to get the full experience, but this is for the people who can't run Doom Eternal or who don't have the money for it

There's not really any reason to "modernize" classic Doom, GZDoom does that in a very tasteful manor.

@orchid ore I like it a lot, my only suggestion is to mark locked doors better, the room with all the guns has no textures showing it's locked behind a red door. But overrall, I love it, reminds me of classic 90s/2000s wads.
It definitely comes off as a starting map though, could be good for a megawad.

Map 1 has 2 archviles
doom 1 and 2 have their map 01s usually start with lower enemies
because that's how it's supposed to work, you take it slow and meet the new enemies as you progress along the campaign
you only meet the chaingunner 3 levels into doom 2, and by then you can easily dispatch him with the SSG
for the first time, at least

What do you mean? Lumps like MAPINFO are ZDoom things, so they do not work in any ports other than ZDoom based ports.
I'm pretty sure Eternity's doing its own form of MAPINFO now
