#Stable hotkeys and locations

With the new patch we have a new mercenary, Robo. Amazing to have new content!! But all the places of the mercenaries have changed, which means their hotkeys have also changed.
It would be nice to keep such things stable.
Sidenote: a similar thing happened with the new MMs last patch, moving their places.

I understand if this is low priority, but as a QoL for new features it would be kind of great.

you can rebind hotkeys, the current keys are tied to position not to mercs

Yes, but I don't think that's an answer to the underlying request. The default hotkeys change because of their reliance on position. And the result of adding a merc (or the MMs previously) means that everything changes their place - and hotkeys (potential fallback) also doesn't mitigate this.

Since these types of changes happens relatively rarely I understand that fixing this isn't top priority, but I do think it's a pain point. On top of the UIs getting very crowded imo

agreed, i dont really have the hotkeys memorized but change like that fucks with your muscle memory, its not a good thing

I agree the hotkeys changing was a pain, I sent a lot of lizards when I wanted DTs yesterday 🤣

But I think the alternative is worse (having a 40 cost merc at the far end of the table to avoid shifting positions). It's just a bit of an adjustment period atm but we'll all be used to it after a few games.

(And change hotkeys if you really wanna, I'm still not sure if I will do that or just relearn)

I member when imps got introduced. We had the same problem

got solved after 2 weeks though

Yeah, like I said, if changes are infrequent then it might not be a big issue. But I want to point out that there are many more alternatives than what we have and 'just put the new merc at the end'. For example, you could have the list of mercs be ordered into rows/subtables, where each table is a specific myth cost. So you'd have 20 - snail, 40 - lizard, dt, robo, etc.
Given that both MMs and mercs are getting crowded I think alternative UIs are not a bad idea.

But yeah, don't assume those are the only two options

That's fair yeah

That would be a long old table though (appreciate it's just a random example)

Yeah, that might also not be a good solution. I just wanted to add this suggestion as I feel adding this merc has been significantly more disruptive than I expected, just due to the shifting. And informally, it seems like many people I play with feel the same way. So I think it's good to highlight, even if the solution is "Eh, everyone will get used to it eventually"

So many S robo instead of lizard. Pretty annoying honestly.

Yes. And you can read about @pearl orbit mentioning sending hermits instead of dinos in the game balance chat.
I honestly think this is quite a big QoL dump

Yeah was sad to see my partner send 8 hermits on the wave we were hoping to win...
