#Trackmania (2020) does not start at all and comes up with an error message

When trying to launch Trackmania I get an error message saying Error at hooking API "LoadStringA". The game doesn't even attempt to start and Ubisoft Connect doesn't start either. Maybe this is a driver issue and not the games fault? I did update my graphics drivers to 25.3.2 and I know that it was working when I last played the game which was on 25.3.1.

OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.3476)
GPU: RX 6700XT
Graphics driver: 25.3.2

If you are experiencing an "Error at hooking API" error during Trackmania (2020)'s launch, try the following:

  • If you are using Epic, switch to Ubisoft Connect. Use the ?epic command for more info.
  • Make sure you have the latest C++ Redists installed. You can download and install them here (make sure to install both packs):

  • Try running Ubisoft Connect as administrator.
  • Make sure your antivirus isn't interfering. (This is more common than people may think!)
  • Finally, make sure your specs meet the minimum requirements.

@sudden geyser I have all Visual C redistributables fron 2008 to 2022 and I launch through Steam not Ubisoft Connect or Epic. The game was working fine 2 days ago and I made no changes to Visual C installs or Windows updates.
