One video is recorded with my phone. you can clearly see that I´m playing with low fps and extreme lag spikes.
then you watch the other one (screen capture) and it´s completely fine.
well, I had LESS THAN a SINGLE F****** FRAME PER SECOND the ENTIRE TIME
my pc runs everything else at a stable 60fps and I can make it run most other games I have installed at 240fps or MORE
this means that buying a new gpu will most likely not solve this.
#insane lag on screen

Hi, have you tried clearing out your replays folder? It's sometimes the case that having an excessive amount of autosave replays can cause freezes like this.
Documents\Trackmania\Replays\
Tried playing at a lower graphics preset?
I´m basically at the lowest possible settings
Doyou play with a wireless gamepad?
nope. keyboard with cable.
can you open up the history profiler via Ctrl-F7
and as soon as you see a spike in the graph press "paused" on the left
and then you can mouseover the spiked frames and take a screenshot of what you see then please and send that here
k, I´ll do that.
looks like this, except for with a frame selected that has high latency then ofc
there are literally no spikes.
I still get lag spikes with as much as 3 seconds per frame
so you're saying you see them but the game doesn't pick any up
yep.
and it's tm2020 specific like you said
do you per chance use gsync or anything like that?
could you share your ingame settings?
full screenshots of them
the game says it´s running at set fps.
there are no spikes or anything, but I´m playing at 1-30fps.
tm2020
@upper wagon have you heard of something like this yet?
switch your hdmi/displayport cable
hmm...
gpu/cpu sync?
no that's not what i mean
Gsync/freesync is what i meant with that
a topic on which chris92 is vastly more experienced at so i won't say much on that further
gpu or screen end?
basically
replace the cable entirely
gsync/freesync no clue, that shouldn't cause those lags to appear on your screen
it just seems like a faulty connection between gpu and monitor tbh
the issue that i see is that they don't experience this issue in other games?
from what it sounded like
the weird thing is
the game recording he showed in the initial post is fine
but the screen is showing something totally choppy
I would either try switching hdmi/display ports on the gpu or on the monitor
yeah i did see that
could there possibly be some software that holds frames hostage when a specific application is run tho
what if the monitor is receiving frames constantly but receiving still frames but the recording can still grab the game itself independent of that
idk this is messed up
no the way OBS and other softwares usually record is grabbing the frames straight off the GPU
but only in exclusive fullscreen it gets instantly sent out after the game is finished rendering right
otherwise it goes in the GPU through some more processing of putting the image together with all other software
OS etc
yea but windowed fullscreen shouldnt have this issue either
windows compositor usually doesnt fuck with image that much
usually it doesn't yes
hardware:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6core 3.6GHz
Radeon RX 570 Series with 8.2GB 1.75GHz VRAM
if I had even just stable 30fps, I would be 10-20% faster on all maps.
well it's not an issue with the game as the game itself seems to run smoothly
have you switched out hdmi/displayport cables as requested?
or tried a different monitor?
something's definitely off here
yeah... something´s off. literally everything else runs perfectly at the monitors framerate with no screen tearing.
then I open trackmania. everything else runs fine.
I click on it, start a map and I´m playing at 10-20fps with lag spikes up to 2spf
I alt tab out and everything else runs fine.
it has to be a game optimization or compatibility issue.
I have a 28.18 on 02.
I just got a -2 split.
lag spike (2fps) -> :yeplamp:
yea idk man
something about your system doesn't like Trackmania it seems
maybe try a clean gpu driver install
hmm...
depending on background tasks, map and where I am in the map, I can get an average of up to 240 fps.
according to the game.
but I´m still playing at 10-20 with lag spikes
according to the game I can get more than 300fps in the editor
alright, I´ll see what I can do and if it helps.
we´re about to visit grandparents/uncle and he´s kinda a tech guy.
@upper wagon hi, just started searching for a thread to issue the same complaint, but my system is Windows 10 on a gaming laptop, sometimes the game boots up and works normally at 165 locked FPS, sometimes it only works 165 in the menu's, but ingame (or in editor) its the same freezing mess
Been happening for a week or so
is it consistent stuttering every few seconds or so?
try moving your documents\trackmania\replays folder somewhere else
basically, the system doesn't react on the game - fans aren't spinning, changing power modes (battery save / balanced) doesn't do anything, like the system isn't even trying
okay, i will, haven't tried yet
nah, didn't help, FPS is locked at 20/21
last time i've fixed it with a system reboot, if it fixes the game, i'll try to put the system in the sleep mode and wake it up and launch again, cus I have suspicions its connected to the sleep mode
Also, in the menu, this time it looked more like 50/60 fps instead of 165
Check GPU temperature when you have freezes
I remember I had to manually increase fan speed to avoid freezes
Wait, I've never tried launching other games when this bug happens - turns out TMNF works the same, FPS never gets higher than 30-40 there
Also check if the right GPU is selected
Rebooting helped, but sleep mode didn't break anything as well.
It might be some bios bug of my laptop, because before sleep I'm watching stuff on it while unplugged from power, and it often reaches low-battery state before i either close the lid or it shuts down by itself.
So, probably unrelated
Also, restoring Autosaves folder didn't break anything for me, so system seems not affected by it
if you're unplugged
then it's normal that your game is lagging
because default behavior is that it goes to energy saving mode
What i mean is "unplugged" mode gets stuck with GPU even when the full power is back
hmm weird
restarting and reconnecting everything seemed to help. cleaning the cooling parts also helped a bit.
we swapped to a gtx 1070 and it runs way better.
like... WAY better.
maybe the rx570 has some issues
idk
the 1070 is on par with it tho
so if it runs better, that's good
