#Please help solve a technical problem in map editor.

I'm new to mapping, I put in a lot of work into my first mapping attempt. Today i can no longer edit the map. Worked on it yesterday, with no problems. Today, it freezes when loading, but eventually loads. Validation mode is insanely laggy. Biggest problem is, if i try to nudge any block on any of its axis, via the openplanet extended map editor, the game immediately freezes, and its not possible to close it, or even open task manager, only fix is to hard restart the computer.

I have removed all custom blocks (finish and cp's), deleted them, and all macroblocks, removed all downloaded blocks and items from the tm documents folder, as well as all maps. Updated all drivers, reinstalled the game. Nothing. Impossible to edit the map. Freezes both in high and low shader settings, in windowed and fullscreen. Had zero problems with the map, until this morning. Problem appeared out of nowhere.

Please help. I have no idea what could be wrong. I can't find any simillar issues on google.

Crash .dmp logs in the ubisoft folder all say this:

"FAULTING_THREAD: 00004da0

PROCESS_NAME: upc.exe

ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0x80000003 - {EXCEPTION} Breakpoint A breakpoint has been reached.

EXCEPTION_CODE_STR: 80000003"

If you're unsure on what your system specs are, download HWiNFO using the link below and open HWiNFO64.exe.

Additionally, if you were asked to share your specifications - take a screenshot: Click on the System Summary window, press ALT+Print Screen and paste the image into the chat.

I doubt it's a spec issue. Correct graphics card is selected in-game. Other maps play fine.

#

I cannot transfer the map as a macroblock to another template. I split it into 4 macroblocks, thinking that might help me identify the bugged section, and only 1 quarter of the map is pastable in a blank template as a macroblock.

It is a spec issue

np

#

this is so sad. worked on the map for days. was finishing scenery. now this nonsense

#

an Nvidia 1080 should def be able to handle trackmania map editor. and it was handling it no problem.

#

Yeah, I had a 1060. It should work fine

solemn pebble
#

a new bug now appeared, when upon validation, things seem fine for a few seconds, and then a frame rate crash happens, after which brake is for some reason always on.

solemn pebble
#

ok, praise the lord, kinda solved it

#

was very big brained and save my maps and autosaves folder before reinstalling

#

last autosave, from right before i went to bed, is working fine

#

and the brake thing was just my game for some reason enabling the toggle mode for it.

#

well, at least i now have fresh drivers and no corrupted system files

timid oak
#

happy ending XD

solemn pebble
#

i would still like to figure out what exactly corrupted the map while i was sleeping

#

thank jesus for autosaves, i just kept using the same file name for saves

timid oak
#

yeah it's a good idea to save into new files every now and then if it's a bigger more important project

#

and honestly a lot of things can in theory corrupt a map

solemn pebble
#

but its weird that i only found one other reported map corruption issue

#

it had to do with custom blocks

timid oak
#

i have experience with map corruption and lightmap corruption in ManiaPlanet

#

and while there has been some saying that they fixed a bunch of stuff with TM2020

#

still good to go safe

solemn pebble
#

yeah, good lesson

#

sux that bugs exist, but its unbelievable that computers exist

#

so fair trade-off

timid oak
#

technically it also could be caused by a bit flip

#

like where it's not even a game bug

#

chances for that to happen like that is extremely low tho

solemn pebble
#

what a coincidence, i was just thinking about the bitflip in a mario 64 speedrun, where a bit was flipped that was part of the number for the z axis of the game, so mario just shot up through the tower stage

timid oak
#

i know

#

😂

solemn pebble
#

people were desperate to reproduce it, as it would obviously save tons of time, but concluded, that it was likely just caused by a cosmic ray or something

timid oak
solemn pebble
#

I wonder, if the speedrun would have been valid in the glitched category, if it was clutched and beat the wr

#

i mean, just because a glitch isnt reproducable and can be a consistent strat, dont make it not a glitch

timid oak
#

what was it, the spongebob ps1 or ps2 game or something, where making the disc dirty would enable speedrun strats

#

to the point where people on purpose rub ketchup on their discs

solemn pebble
#

i heard that happening on some other disc based games as well

timid oak
#

anyways all of that is #offtopic, if you wanna chat about this sort of stuff, feel free to post there :D

issue returned today, last save, that worked yesterday, is now bugged, and shows a complexity/item-weight rating of 20000+
