Stuck on black loading screen upon starting game

If your Trackmania (2020) installation refuses to start, your configuration might have gotten corrupted.
The most robust way to fix that is to let the game generate a new one.

1. Find C:\Users\you\Documents\Trackmania\Config\Default.json (the directory may also be called \Trackmania2020).
2. Make a backup of the file and delete the original.
3. Restart the game.

The game will then generate a new config file with the default settings - meaning you'll have to manually edit your in-game settings again.

It's also possible that the game creates an entirely separate directory in \Documents - typically called Trackmania2020. In this case, you'll want to copy the newly generated Default.json file from there and move it over to the old directory - or you can move over all your maps, blocks, items and replays into the new one.
Once the move is complete, you can delete the directory you're not using.

so it did create a new config, but you're still running into the same issue?

you could try renaming the whole Trackmania directory in there and see if that makes any difference
other than that, there's really only the cache directory that could survive a full reinstall - that's under C:\ProgramData\Trackmania\Cache
might be worth deleting too in case there's something screwed up in there

apart from that, it's at least not a known issue could be some hardware or driver-related thing if the game somehow just fails to initialize
but maybe someone else has an idea
