Mouse grip in the end is preference and if you are not experiencing pain or other issues then it is fine.

You can however experiment a little to put your middle finger more on M2. For me personally I find the grip nearly impossible to replicate and for me it reduces the flexibility of my fingers by a ton. So put more of your finger on the button and see if it does anything for you.

Other than that, it is just something you have to continue train.

just tried it out of game and my hand sits so my middle finger is on the side of the mouse here

i guess its not traditional but now im breaking my mental thinking that this is why im struggling to aim now xD

As I said - put your finger elsewhere and see if it does something to your range of motion. For me personally it causes issues, but for you it might be different.

However, you should not overthink this. From all things surrounding aim, grip is barely 1% of that

Changing your grip won't magically make you play better, but it might make certain things a tiny bit easier. In the end it still comes down to more practise and (play)time

Although a 10-day break away from your PC can be considered lengthy to some, it is not really that extensive.

You just need to "de-rust" a little bit and that can sometimes take a while.

Yeah, it definitely isnt like i need to relearn how to aim, i just feel very out of control with my mouse movements, ill still hit shots but sometimes it feels like i shouldnt have as it doesnt feel like im controlling the mouse that well and the movement almost feels too 'free' i guess

That is more a case of your consciousness interfering with your subconsciousness.

Aim is subconscious. You will notice that once you get focused on your game you will play significantly better, and once you try to consciously replicated it you are somehow impossible to do so.

Your subconscious knows how to do it, so it is best to leave it doing at what its best at 🙂

Aim does have some parts that are conscious and some parts that are subconscious, replicating what you do subconsciously is possible consciously and if you are able to do it either way, you will improve your muscle memory's ability to do it both ways. The idea is that you are always more consistent when your conscious focus is fixated upon the target and what's happening in-game rather than what's happening in real life, because you begin to use the mouse to control things on screen more like how you would something in real life, rather than focusing on moving what's in your hand in arbitrary ways to match a moving thing you see on-screen.

When it comes to the issue that you are having, it's best to focus on the game and let your subconscious mind take over the manner in which you grip your mouse, because while your grip most definitely affects your ability to aim and the space which you have to maneuver called your range of motion (ROM), it's very difficult as a human to make effective and meaningful changes to your grip that would BOTH allow further ROM while also keeping a tight enough grip that your mouse doesn't just meaninglessly slip around in your hand. So, let your brain do its thing with the grip, don't think about that part and just play the game as best you can.

It is good to sometimes make a conscious decision to change one thing or another thing if you get stuck in a rut, but also don't get stuck remembering to keep your finger in a specific place consciously because your subconscious brain might also see it as a bad thing for another reason you might not know like having less controllability due to that change.
