I always felt "gifted" when we talk about fps. I was always the top player between all my friends but now I don't think it's true. I have 200 hours on Valorant ( I never played tacfps) and rn I'm high diamond 2/diamond 3.
From your experience, what do you think makes someone gifted or with some kind of natural skill for Fps?
I'm really interested to hear other POV on this subject.

i believe there is no noticeable, inherent advantage in anyone when it comes to fps because i know the brain science behind it--the only "gift" people are given by their upbringing, previous experiences, and independent choices is the amount of time and dedication they choose to spend in order to improve.

a very large majority of people do not have as much motivation as the minority that do, and that is a gift that the few are lucky to have---regardless of their circumstances/reasoning behind why they work hard to earn what they want

I dont think that anyone is talented i just think that he has done something before the x thing that indirectly made him better at it than other people... Its not like you are born to be good at x thing so i dont think think that anyone is "talented" and that its just a fancy word for "you are good but we wont talk about how long it took you to become good" same for when richer people get told "haha its easy for you" like it just fell from the sky and they didnt fight for it nor earn it

Good reactive tracking, KDR of 2 or much greater, ability to achieve that just a week or two into getting into a new shooter.
Those are what qualifies to me as such, but what traits they share? I don't know, the fact they can feel numb I guess or something for one.

For any game, "gifted" is probably the speed at which you are able to learn to what extent. For "skilled" it would be the skill "ceiling" or "level" which would be the highest achievable by one person which is usually higher than the level that the "gifted" person is able to attain. When someone is able to be "gifted" and "skilled" at the same time, he is considered a "prodigy" because he instantly rises to the top with little effort or time in the given game compared to everyone else.

I think I would consider a talented player somebody with low playtime and high rank.

#

Or for instance if somebody only plays guitar for 20 hours in total, and can play difficult songs. That is talent

#

Or only aim trains for 100 hours and is somehow top score on difficult scenarios.
