you're getting the reset too late

so you end up in front of the ball with no way to use it

you want to get it while the ball is before the apex of its trajectory by boosting as if you're going to air dribble the ball then turning for the reset rather than trying to get underneath the ball

getting it late isn't too much of a problem (sometimes more useful for comp). they just boosted too far to the side and didn't boost up enough which is why they ended up in front of the ball.

for initially learning id still work the easier earlier ones first

getting it earlier won't fix them over boosting to the side or in front of the ball

in that case they should probably be aiming for the back quarter of the ball giving them more time to readjust for followup w/ their lvl of control
